In this episode of No Hair All Heart, host Mookie Spitz dives into the haunting legend of Jade Michiko—a woman whose life is a cycle of rebellion, disappearance, and fleeting freedom. 

Jade, the daughter of Japanese wealth and control, breaks away from her gilded cage to wander the world in search of her own salvation. Her journey takes her through Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, before she finally lands in the rave-soaked chaos of New York City.

There, among drag queens and powder heads, she meets Rob—a bartender whose life becomes forever altered by Jade’s presence and the gift of an Astro Boy t-shirt. To Rob, that shirt becomes a totem of recurrence and rebirth, a reminder of a love lost to forces far larger than either of them. 

Jade’s father’s shadow stretches across continents, pulling her back into obedience, only for her to escape again, and again. Rob identifies with Jade's lust for liberation, while shackled to a past that inevitably comes calling, with accrued interest due.
