Welcome to another episode!
We’re nearing the end of Pride Month 2023 and Katie chose to cover the case of Brandon Teena. Assigned female at birth, Brandon knew from a young age he was a male. However, back in the 80’s and 90’s (and even in 2023 in some places) education regarding transgender individuals was lacking.
In 1993, Brandon moved from his hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska to Falls City, Nebraska for a fresh start. Nobody knew he was assigned female at birth and he was finally able to be himself without judgment or hatred — until a Christmas Eve party that same year.
Not long after his 21st birthday, Brandon is assaulted at the party by people he thought were his friends as they stripped him to see what his genitals looked like. Everything that happened after that could have been prevented if the people in positions of power had treated him like a human.
Stay safe out there, lovelies. Thank you for listening.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
