Welcome back, loveliest listeners! This week’s episode takes us back to the early stages of the internet.
New Year’s Eve 2001, 13 year old Alicia Kozak snuck out of her family home in Pennsylvania to quickly visit with a 13 year old boy she met in an online chat room several months prior. However, she discovers too late that she had actually been talking to a grown man the whole time. After forcing Alicia into his car, he drives her hundreds of miles from her home to where he lives in Virginia and holds her captive.
Alicia became the first known victim of luring a child through the internet — something we are all very aware of now, but was virtually unheard of back then.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
