You ever unplug long enough to actually feel again?

In this episode, I pull back the curtain on what really matters—not headlines, not hustle culture, not market panic. But moments. Memories. Legacy. After 18 hours in a car, hiking Zion, dodging rattlesnakes, and road-tripping with my wife and kids, I realized how little time we actually have with the people we love—and how much time we waste worrying about shit we can't control.

This one’s personal. We talk about the power of presence, why you’re probably putting off the wrong things, and how our obsession with productivity is robbing us of purpose.

I also drop a preview of what’s coming for No BS Wealth. We’re bringing in 31 vetted experts—real professionals, no fluff—to go deep on the stuff no advisor ever wants to explain. From taxes to legacy to legal and everything in between.

But today, I’m asking you to pause.

Lose reception. Gain some damn perspective.

Stoy Hall (00:00):
I'm back.
Yeah know.
I know it's been, uh, it's been,it's been a couple weeks, but
I'm here to fill in why it'sbeen a couple weeks.
So ultimately we went onvacation and, uh, the whole,
this whole episode is gonna bekind of about that.
But in general, about the shirtI that I'm wearing, so about
couple days into us going out toUtah as a family and and
whatnot, we go to, obviouslyyou're gonna go to the national

(00:21):
park, you're gonna go in.
To visitor center, and then thisshirt popped up.
Lose reception, gain perspectivebecame the theme of overall of
our trip.
It became now the theme thatI'm, I'm looking at when we're
dealing with all of the shitthat we're dealing with in the
United States currently and inthe world.
But I want to walk you down ourwhole path and what my wife,

(00:43):
Michelle, and I.
Kind of gained from this shirt, but also gained from that
perspective with our, with ourkids.
So without further ado, we hadan amazing time.
Uh, we went through the narrows.
We went to Bryce Canyon.
We gotta go through a tunnel afew times.
Um, the boy saw a rattlesnake.
We went tubing.
There were a lot of great thingsthat happened on our trip.

(01:04):
We always take an annual trip toa national park.
Um, with my uncle and hispartner and one, it's one a, a
fantastic family getaway, buttwo, it allows our kids to learn
a different party about theUnited States.
Uh, different culture.
Uh, road tripping is alwaysamazing, right?
Um, it has its ups and downsalways, but in terms of a family

(01:25):
unit being able to go 18 hours,um, away and learn more about.
Each other and, uh, thefantastic places that we have in
the United States really startsto allow you to gain
perspective, lack of a betterterm, from the shirt.
And as we're on this trip, westarted to gain more of that, I

(01:45):
believe.
For those that don't know, mywife joined the firm back in
December, left her corporate.
Uh, job as a PTA and and joinedwith me.
So we are going through ourfirst summer together, her first
summer with the kids home fromschool, which is a good thing.
Uh, but also boys are boys.
So you gotta think about thatand we always reflect on that.

(02:07):
So.
Not only do we get to do that,we gotta see our friends in
Denver.
Our, our kids are about the sameage.
We gotta play.
So ultimately we come down toit.
We lost reception, but we gaineda lot of perception perspective
on the drive home.
We were talking about this a lotand, and reflecting back on our
trip, um, our boys are 11 andeight and.

(02:30):
When you think through summersand being an adult and, and
having parent, or being a parentand having kids, we don't have
very much time left, right?
Um, we have technically sevensummers, but senior year summers
aren't really for us.
So really we're down to like sixyears.
As a family unit, that means sixmore vacations in the summer.

(02:54):
And when you put intoperspective like that, six isn't
a big number.
It's not, it's not a long time.
And you start to get over thelittle things, right?
You, you start to move on fromtheir little fights and seeing
the blossoming of them growingup and going through things.
And that perspective translatedfor me and for us, not only
obviously what we're gonna focuson with our kids, but also what

(03:17):
we speak about.
And what content we provide andyou know, the education that we
give to our clients.
Because if you think about thatperspective, right?
You only have so much time to dothese certain memory added
things at a certain age.
Yet we spend so much timereading everything in the news
and media and social mediaabout, you know.

(03:41):
Nuclear war or the tariffs or apresident or the in is near or
you're running out of time anddoes any of that really matter?
Life does go on, the sun doesrise.
You don't die with your money.
You, you go through all thememories that you created and
those memories live on and onand on and on and on.

(04:02):
And part of that is for me, likeroad tripping.
I didn't really road tripgrowing up much, but.
My grandpa was a truck driver,so I would go on the road and
have a couple million milesunder my belt with him, you
know, through the Rockies andWest Coast, east Coast type
stuff, and that brought up thefields to me.
Well, that feeling, that legacycame from him when I was a kid,

(04:23):
and now I'm able to pass thaton.
What does that do to the nextgeneration?
The next generation?
Well, yes, I know financialeducation is important, the
things that we do, but I thinkwe put too much weight on money
and.
The things that we get and notenough on the memories that we
create.
In my opinion, it's okay tospend the money on those trips
over investing it or putting itback into your retirement, et

(04:47):
cetera, because I don't thinkyou're gonna regret these
opportunities as opposed to whatit turns into down the road
because.
One that's not, we don't knowthat's gonna happen, right?
You don't even know if you'llsurvive until retirement, let
alone you don't know what thatlooks like.
And are you missing out onsomething that fundamentally
will change you, your kids andeverything going forward?

(05:07):
Getting a little differentperspective there.
So think through that quickupdate of what's coming down the
pipe.
Okay, no bs.
Wealth is going through achange.
Let's get Real is gonna be thesame, but no BS.
Wealth is going to have 31badass people that I have
personally vetted out that isgonna come on a board and be
part of our whole resource team.
So our episodes are gonna go alot deeper into what you want to

(05:28):
know, um, from a tax perspectivemarket.
You name it, name the industry, legal, it doesn't matter.
We're bringing all these expertson and these are the ones that
we vetted out and we use for ourclients.
Then I'm also gonna say if youneed them, they're here for you.
We're gonna have thateverywhere.
So do look forward to that.
Look forward to more.
Let's get real.
Um, like I said, we're gonna godive, dive deeper into the bill.

(05:50):
That's gonna be a lot more onthe no B as wealth side, not the
let's get real side.
But we will have some of that asthis comes up.
Two.
So stay tuned for that as itcomes to a Let's get real
episode.
For the last couple minutes, Iwanted to talk about all the
shit that's been going on thelast couple weeks that I wasn't
here for, right?
Um, let's revamp this.
This might sound like a brokenrecord a little bit.

(06:13):
Tariffs, interest rates, globalWar, nuclear World War iii,
Trump, Epstein List, all thosering a bell.
It's kind of funny that wetalked about those when, on the
first part of the, let's getreal, uh, a few months ago, and
now they're still here andthey're still doing the same
thing.
As I've told everyone, we don'tsee light at the end of this
tunnel at all.

(06:33):
Right now.
We don't know what's gonnahappen.
The feds aren't moving ratesbecause they don't know what's
happening with tariffs and thetrade deals and the wars that
are happening.
And now the aggression, um,from.
Our nuclear subs and also theEpstein list.
So there's a lot offundamentally things that are
off.
And at the end of the day, allwe can do is what keep
progressing.

(06:53):
Now we are seeing a lot of hitsto people's debt.
Salaries aren't increasing.
Layoffs are happening a lot.
And we're getting into, not theholiday season yet, but we're
getting into fall sports.
We're getting in back intoschool.
And then we're quickly gonna beat a point in time where it is
the holidays and we're not gonnasee as much spending because
people don't have the money.

(07:14):
So what I'm saying is it's stillrocky this.
Fall season.
The next two, three months aregoing to allow us to hopefully
see a light edit at some end ofsome tunnel so we can start to
move forward.
Um, right now we're not movingforward, moving sideways, so
everyone who is listening andhas stayed tuned this long just
know that it is coming and it'sjust a matter of time.

(07:37):
So I appreciate everyone thatwe're on hiatus for a couple
weeks.
Uh, I know I've seen cot andstill views, but we are back.
We are in the saddle.
There's a lot of great thingscoming down the pipe, but I'm
gonna end you with this.
Sometimes you just need to losereception to gain perspective.
