Speaker 1 (00:07):
hey, we're not frozen
, we've thawed out since the
snow.
Hey folks, how you doing?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
welcome back we
thought we'd come on and talk
about some of our escapades inthe snow and make sure this is
going live on the facebook Idon't know what you did in the
snow.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
I don't know if I had
escapades.
That'd be too cold to do that, wouldn't it?
I said ice capades, oh, thatwould fit, that would fit.
That's like the people on CanalStreet ice skating and playing
hockey.
Did you see that?
I did not.
They were doing that, not likea full game of hockey.
One person was skating.
I did see a few.
Let me rephrase that one personwas skating with a stick and
(00:45):
pad a puck and then a couplepeople had ice skates.
You'd see videos, yeah, andthen in, I think, jackson square
, they had a giant snowballfight.
Maybe it was the french quarter.
So, surprisingly, new orleansgot out in the snow.
Well, maybe, not surprisingly.
I know I've been waiting all mylife for this level of snow,
yeah, so I'm out here near theairport and I had at least nine
(01:06):
inches.
Yeah, I didn't have one ofthose sticks, like the
weatherman said, like the rulerand let it fall on it.
I just kind of plunged theruler into some drifts.
So I had one that was 12 inches, I had one that was five, nine.
So it fell about eight to 10inches out here.
What do you mean, let Let itfall on it.
Well, it's Peyton Malone.
He's on channel four news andhe made a thing you put a base
(01:30):
and then you nailed a ruler intoit.
You just leave it outside.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
So you know what fell
that way, it's consistent yeah
and not when building up in ayeah, that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I guess you'd have to
get out there quick before the
wind, because it started about 6am, between 6 and 8 am last
Tuesday, so a week ago from thisrecording and then it finished
right about five o'clock, six, seven, eight to one full day of
snow.
It was sideways, you know, andI did have drifts, but man, it
was so beautiful because Idocumented, like every few hours
(02:08):
I'd go out when it's over.
We went out and and you, youcouldn't hear anybody driving.
My wife was like it's so quiet,it's so cool.
Yeah, it's quiet, it was anamazing thing and just looking
at everything looked like aChristmas card.
Yeah, what did y'all do?
Speaker 2 (02:24):
with it.
The kids played outside a lot.
They would go out and play micbump.
They'd go out and play until itgot too cold and they got wet.
They'd come in, dry off Hotchocolate, hang around the fire
a little bit and they'd go backout again.
I went out a few times.
(02:45):
It was a good time.
I did not build a snowman thistime, but I enjoyed it.
Let them run around and play.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yeah, we built our
first snowman together in 2004.
I built a snow family of like.
I guess they were about sixinches tall, maybe a foot tall,
and this time we built a.
We call them winter breezeafter drew breeze.
Yeah, that, six inches tall, maybe a foot tall.
And this time we built a.
We call him Winter Breeze afterDrew Breeze.
Yeah, that makes sense.
My cowboy hat I had a scarfSaints gloves found some good
branches.
The minute I took the picture,I took the gear inside.
(03:13):
You know what I mean.
Actually, a couple of weeks agoI used that hat for an audition
.
So I'm like I'm not losing this.
I don't think anybody wouldtake it, but that means somebody
would take it.
You know what I mean.
Nobody was going around ourneighborhood kicking snowmen,
but what if that kept him fromcoming to life?
Well, he'll just have to comeback.
Bring the snow next year.
Next year, we don't need anymore.
(03:34):
There was a Facebook rumor thatwe were going to get more in
two weeks.
We're not.
We're getting a heat wave.
We're going back up to 70degrees.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
yeah, so it was I
didn't even think about it.
I have a car, I can't even talk.
I have a corn cob pipe and itwas after everything had melted.
I'm like oh, I've got a, I'vegot an old pipe I could have
used.
I didn't even think about itwell, we didn't know.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Like at later I saw a
snowman kit and every, like his
eyes, his mouth, had the stickto go in the snow.
I was like, oh wow.
So we had old olives for theeyes, you know, and we had to
like, dig in there the nose.
We did have a carrot.
I had a full length.
It wouldn't go in, so I bit itin half and I just dug that
sucker in there.
And then we had it's likeTwizzler chunks for the mouth to
(04:21):
make it red and a smile.
And when I put the hat on himmy wife and I took a selfie.
The hat was kind of angled, soit looks like he's winking Nice,
or he came to life, and that'sjust a cover story I'm using.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
So my family had gone
out of town for a swim meet and
it was supposed to snow thereup in North Alabama and they
were supposed to stay tillMonday, but things got over
earlier than they expected onSunday, so they went ahead and
came home, and it was alreadystarting a little bit before
they came home, so they got totravel in the snow.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
I, new Orleanians,
can't drive in the rain, in the
dry.
So snow and ice, I've seen it.
You know, the little bit we hadbefore.
I never wanted to be out in itFriday, the little bit we had
before.
I never wanted to be out in itFriday.
I had to go to work and I'mdriving on this one street,
orleans Avenue, and it's got adip under the train tracks and
so when it rains that getsflooded pretty quick.
So I was worried it was stillgoing to be icy, even though it
(05:16):
was the next day.
Until Friday afternoon weweren't out of the freeze A
little bit on Thursday.
So I'm looking ahead.
Oh, look, it's clear.
Oh, there's a patch of snow inthe ground because, you know,
shade, but I had seen where thetracks, people had gone through
it.
I'm like, I'm fine, I'm doingabout 25.
And for one second the carturned.
I was like, oh, ok, I'm goingto pay more attention, even
(05:41):
though I was paying attention.
No, so love the snow, loveplaying it, love the way it
looked.
I didn't have to go into work,so I didn't have that worry.
Knock on wood.
You know, thank God my heatstayed on.
What I had, water too, yada,yada, yada, I can see I don't
want a lot of that.
Yeah, I'm not built for that.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I was worried there
was going to be burst pipes, you
know.
I mean it got down into theteens.
One of my friends, you know, still lives in Mississippi and
he said that the highway patrolthere was shutting down the
interstate because there hadbeen an unprecedented number of
wrecks.
I'm like, yep, Southerners justain't used to driving in the
snow.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
The minute they
opened the interstate here
Saturday, pile up, shut it backdown, so we had to go to New
Orleans on Friday.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Friday Wow, and we
had to drive.
It routed us through.
The causeway was still shutwhen we went.
It routed us through Slidell along way around, you know,
across, I think, I guess theWrigley, oh, yeah, you know,
come out by Michoud.
Yeah, it took us over two hoursto get from here to where we
(06:54):
were going and they had, it wasactually Metairie.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
If you came through
Slidell, that's either the
causeway or the TwinspansFurther further.
Okay, you went through the, theold, the old bridge, kind of by
Laplace.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
No, A third bridge.
So from Slidell I'm drawing ablank on what it's called
there's a small bridge that'sgot the.
You know it looks like an oldtrain bridge.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Yeah, okay, I thought
they had taken that one out.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
So you know that the
roadway where Michoud and the
Coast Guard base is.
Yeah, it was down that way.
I got you, I got you I thoughtwhat you were describing, I
thought, is the one when youcome through New Orleans East.
So yeah, it's.
I mean it's New Orleans East, but it's not the old old Highway
11 bridge.
It was a smaller, it's asmaller bridge.
(07:42):
I got you.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Ok, this is like the
Californian sketch on SNL People
like we don't care.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Talking about bridges
.
Yes, it took me two hours.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Who cares?
We had fun in the snow andwe're letting you know.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, but it boogers
everything up.
It does, but it's an automaticvacation.
So in that way it's kind ofnice too, although somebody we
know had booked a commercialcommercial couldn't get out to
it because of the snow.
No, yeah, we also at least oneof our other friends, his pipes
broke too.
Yeah, yeah, not naming anynames.
So, yeah, and I know somebodyin the middle of the night on
(08:20):
thursday night, their pipesbroke, they couldn't get to the
water shut off valve because itwas covered with snow and didn't
know where it was, the one bythe street.
So you to prep just like ahurricane get your water, get
your buckets, buckets of waterin case you have to flush, get
your food, get heating sources, extra blankets, extra clothes,
and you don't have to block yourwindows like you do for
hurricanes.
But you know, like I have onethat's kind of drafty, so I put,
(08:41):
I put one of my sound blanketson it my sound, you know and
that kept a little bit warmer.
You know, space heaters areyour friend, but don't use
extension cords, don't overusethem.
Put them on a timer.
Can't run them constantly anddrink tea, water, and I mean hot
soup, coffee, if you need to.
There are ways now, if I had todo this for six months or
whatever they have to, you know, november to march up there.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
No, no yeah, I mean,
like anything else, you get used
to it.
They probably say the samething about us with the
hurricanes.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Yeah, and they got
snow chains and they have their
big winter coats.
Every year I had a biggerwinter coat.
I just thrifted, left it in thecar and then the car got snowed
over.
I was like I don't need it, butit was like, don't, it did have
an extra pair of gloves inthere, so yeah, we so when it
(09:32):
snowed in 2017, we lost powerfor 48 hours.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
A limb fell, uh, down
the street and blew out
everything, and it took them twodays to get out to fix it.
But this time we didn't haveany issues.
The schools up here were closedall week.
I guess the pipes in one of theschools burst, so all of St
(10:00):
Tammany at least the publicschools were closed, so the kids
were home all week.
It was a nice little vacation.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Yeah, I miss it
already.
My wife and I tease it Likewe'll say something you having a
rough day?
Yeah, I miss the snow too.
So, other than that, anythinggood going on with you.
Really, yeah, it's been kind ofslow.
I do have a little bit of goodnews, I.
Anything good going on with you.
Really, yeah, it's been kind ofslow.
I do have a little bit of goodnews.
I have a trailer coming outthis weekend, february 1st the
trailer for impunity, where Iplay a stepfather, and that's
(10:30):
all I'll say about him.
It's coming out this weekend.
Can't wait.
Can't wait to share with you.
It is going on the festivalcircuit for the probably the
rest of 2025, so people won't beable to see it for a long time,
but we're getting closer.
We're getting closer.
So many projects are justalmost there and ready to
release.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Mr Headcase made it
into a film festival in Florida
this past weekend.
I was not able to go to that.
Great Congratulations.
That's pretty exciting.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
That's awesome.
I have seen that that was yougood bro.
Thanks, man, you made a goodcrazy person.
Homeless person, shall we say.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
He was emotionally
challenged.
Typecasting here we go.
Yeah, here we go.
That was a fun film and a lotof good learning experiences,
and a lot of great people workedon that project.
So, yeah, it was exciting, verycool.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Well, folks, we just
want to jump on say hi, we're
working hard to get back to ourregular show.
We've got some recordedepisodes.
Things get delayed when youknow.
I didn't want to move in theinside.
I was cold, I was huddled upunder my blanket.
But we'll get back to it.
