Changed quickly.
Yeah, Blair takes over pretty quickly.
just even when she's doing detestable things, you can't help but stan her.
the way she's doing it and what she's saying while she does it.
She's just so effortlessly funny.
Like all of the drama in the show centers around her.
She looks fantastic while doing it.
I just love Leighton Meester so much and I love Blair Waldorf, I Will, Will, Till the DayI Die.

And then least favorite, I'm sorry, maybe Brendan's just like blacked this person out eventhough she's in this episode, but Vanessa is terrible.
I hate Vanessa.

She really just is always on her high horse.

And she's not a good person.
She's just as bad as all of them.

A young Lily played by Brittany Snow is cruising down the PCH in a white convertible.
She stops at a pay phone to call our father, asking him for a daddy daughter lunch date.
Yeah, she was great.
Brittany's so amazing in this.
Everything she was doing in the whole episode, I was in love with her.
I love just right off the bat just getting to see Lily's backstory.

I love an origin story.
I love a flashback episode.
I love how this is kind of like an episode of Lost where we're just seeing Lily's point ofview in something in the present day and then flashing back to something that happens
before the timeline of the series.
And we see right off the bat that she...
has this weird relationship with her parents.
Like even when she calls her dad here, like her dad doesn't even want to talk to her.

That's pretty heartbreaking.
And I just thought after this scene, like we should have just went right into the OC themesong.
Give us some California stuff.
Start the episode off.
That would have been perfect.

In 2009, Lily is slow to get out of her town car in front of the police station.

Yeah, like I said, we're like, cutting back and forth between the 1980s in Malibu andpresent day.
And as soon as you see that this is what this, format of this episode was going to be,like I was hooked immediately.
Yeah, it's kind of like a funny episode to talk about because it's just like every timeyou're like, it is funny.

Every beat of this episode, I'm like, yeah, that was good, right?
That was good too.
Just enjoying it.
We're just reminiscing of the glory days.
And in that first scene I forgot to mention that if you did pause you saw a letter inLily's purse as she is expelled.

They at least got the information that Lily is the one who had Serena arrested.
Yeah, and Blair is pacing back and forth complaining about how long she's been in there.

You mentioned that stare that she gives Lily when she walks into the jail.
She is pissed off.
She's like, how dare you put my girl Serena in a jail cell right now?
You know, Blair could have taken these four hours to apologize to Georgiagina for blowingup at her falsely last week, but.

And we love it when a teenage girl hates their mom that's always a highlight And yeah, Ithink also a great episode for my theory that blairs in love with Serena like I think we

The show definitely reminded us that they are the most important relationship

In 2009, Lilly catches Cece on the street leaving the penthouse.

Like, Lily is finally kind of being like, listen, I don't care.

And Cece is just like.
refusing to engage.
She's like, well, I don't know.
If you feel the need to do that, then, you know, if you want to hug me, I can't stop you.
But then when they do hug, we see Cece kind of warm up a little bit and hug her.
They're kind of just like putting it all out in the open now.

Like, Lily is really just sharing her feelings with her mom, like stuff in the past, stuffin the present.
And of course, with the juxtaposition of the Lily and Serena of it all, and then the Lilyand Cece in the flashbacks, like everything is just kind of coming to a head at this
moment in this very
interesting scene between mother and daughter and even though Cece is still choosing to bea bitch to her daughter, in everything she says.

She has one mode.
Like Rufus kinda says it earlier, like Cece's not gonna change, she's too old, she's setin her ways, but you can change still and if you change, who knows what that'll cause and
we see that, like Cece's not willing to like, I don't even think she says I love you to,so.

in this scene, but she allows her to hug her, that's all we get.

And that's kind of all we need, because at this point, I'm like weeping into my sweatshirtat this point.
And Lily, she's got so much pride, so it's big of her to admit all this stuff.

And this scene was very much similar to the dance with Dan and Serene at the end of seasonone.

I've already been crying at this point while watching so the tears are just still comingdown in the face, still crying, still enjoying.
It definitely nails that end of high school vibe.

We don't get a Blair and Chuck scene, which is probably the only thing off my checklistthat I'm looking for in a classic Gossip Girl episode.

Serena scene, some of my favorite scenes in this, in the show's history and they're likeall back to back to back and they make me feel so many feelings.

And like, they were able to tie the backdoor pilot and the story like together well, kindof seamlessly going between the 1980s and 2009 and it like culminated in
that ending sequence that I was also very high on.
So easy A for me.
