Speaker 2 (04:02):
Goodness, gracious I stopped counting at 15.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
That's the departures , which I guess is what you
should expect when you're 2-10and you have an open market.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Right, but, good lord , that's a lot, it's a lot.
What sticks out is that a lotof it is guys that Norvell and
his staff recruited themselves.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Which is something that you've been on Norvell the
whole time.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Right Is his guys that he hasn't recruited
Shuffling decks on the Titanicman Deck chairs.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Well, if you look back and it's sad news that we
hear Jordan Travis this weekretired from that injury but if
you look back at his tenure atFlorida State, it was really a
lot of him pulling Houdini acts.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Oh, it's unbelievable you go back and look at 22 and
23, the games they won, and it'sincredible that he was able to
do half the stuff that he wasable to do.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Sad story.
That was wish he wouldn't haveplayed that game.
Still talk about it.
Right, but he did, and it iswhat it is.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
But if you, if you just think about him, the player
he was, and you Think aboutthat season and what could have
happened.
Right, I understand that.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
That's Monday morning quarterback.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
A lot of people say that Exactly, but at some point
somebody else that's on the headcoach to make that decision,
Right?
Somebody else was still goingto have to play quarterback.
Travis wasn't going to be hereforever, right?

Speaker 1 (05:39):
That's what I'm trying to get at Then you get at
what we see a lot of playersleaving.
We got to.
What I'm excited about is a lotof newcomers on the offensive
line.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yeah, but I think this is just like it is.
What what you're going to haveto do with with FSU going
forward for the foreseeablefuture is just worry about who
you got Once the portal closes.
Don't worry about recruiting inhigh school and things like
that, because anybody you signout of high school there's just

(06:10):
as good a chance that they'regoing to be part of the wave of
the fat trimming that we justsaw.
Because I mean, there's that20-something names that you just
read off.
There were high-ranked kids, there were middle four stars,
there were lower three starssomething names that you just
read off it.
There were high-ranked kids, there were you know middle four
stars, there were lower threestars.
They could have been you knowdiamonds in the roughs when you

(06:31):
took them tight, those types man, but it's.
That's an entire recruitingclass that you just read off I
know it's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
So well, I mean in a good and part of me is like good
written.
I mean a good part of me is,and I mean when you're that,
when you have a record, like youdid last year, and the results
is you need almost like a washyour hands of it and in this
environment, is something thatyou can do now.
You don't want to have to dothis every year, but you kind of
have to?

Speaker 2 (06:59):
yeah, you do.
You don't expect to have to doit a year after you know you had
such success, but when you know, when you had 90 percent of
your, your offensive and reallyyour team's success resting on
the shoulders of Jordan Travis, and it you know.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
All right, so the portal closed.
What are something?
Name something that you'rehappy about and then something
that you're totally pissed on.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
We got a new QB, we got a guy that's familiar with
the new offensive coordinatorsystem.
So that's two positives rightthere that you didn't have last
year.
You didn't have an offensivecoordinator with the system,
really, and you know, you didn'thave any kind of familiarity

(07:51):
with the quarterback and wewon't even get into the
quarterback being who you took, but anyway.
So the quarterback position wasa positive.
You know, I know you lostCrowman Hawk, but it is what it
is, man.
That kid wasn't showing youanything yet.

(08:13):
That said, he was going to beable to win games, win ACC games
, which is what you have toworry about right now.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah, you got gotta win games.
Um.
So the offensive line, anynewcomers that you should know
about and on the o-line, I meanthe entire offensive line, are
newcomers.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Man, that's great.
Yeah, everybody you know, youhope that they're good, let's
just put it that way the entirefacelift of the offensive line.
I hope it works out.
I'm not sure that anybody whostarted last year along that
front is going to be startingthis year.
I mean, a lot of them are gone, but there are a few holdovers.

(09:03):
We'll see.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
We'll see, we'll see, yeah well, you got Jalen
Matthews, you got Joshua Raymond, a couple of names.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
You know, you got Mario Nash Jr, Andre Otto, Right
, you got bodies Manassi At Atit.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Jonathan Daniels, you're not void of talent.
Lucas Simmons yeah, some guys, some guys that are that are
still around from Atkins.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
You know that may have some talent we haven't had
an offensive lineman draftedsince 2018 right.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I mean we've had a couple years there with Jimbo
and when the offensive line kindof clicked a little bit, but
really for about the last 20years it's just been subpar for
one reason or the other well, um, when you look at the O-line

(10:06):
though, you got a new center, you got new guards, new tackles,
new everything new coach newcoach.
Herb Hand right and when you'retalking about probably the
worst unit in any FBS conferenceany.
FBS team, then there's reallynowhere to go but up.
So yep, making strides, manWell you didn't get.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
you know the playmaker that I was hoping to
get on the edge.
I was hoping to get anotherwide receiver on offense and
maybe another edge rusher ondefense.
You didn't get that, but you'renot usually going to get that
after a two and 10 season.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Well, you're not going to get that in the spring.
You got the.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
O-line changed over.
You got the new coach, you gota whole new system.
Um, you got big biscuit out ofthere only because he came back.
But that was.
And once the new change was in,you know we want blockers and I
don't think he was ready to dothat with the weight loss and
everything yeah, we need to have.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Just well, he's back, I mean, you know.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
So back again, yeah back and back again, all right,
so, uh, we got a lot of newadditions, addition by
subtraction, as we said, a wholebunch of names that that's got
to be part of the problem.
When you go off a two and tenseason, you get everybody out
and you got to want to be hereand I'm happy that they did that

(11:34):
and it looks like the coach didit too.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
I mean he's changing it.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
He's changed not only he changed the roster, he
changed the coaching staff, hechanged the roles within that
staff.
So he's done about everythingthere is to do.
If he doesn't win, now you'refired.
Is that what you're saying?

Speaker 2 (11:52):
well, I, I don't think that they can afford that
right.
Florida state's not going tofire him after this season.
I mean, he, you know, you dotwo and ten again and then maybe
we'll see um, but no, I, Idon't I don't know man I'm
excited about the line right?
I think we need to.
We need to get to the loweredexpectations.

(12:13):
Talk like all right, let's doit.
Six to eight wins for the nextthree or four years.
That that's what you're doing, all right, well, you got um.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
That's what you're looking.
Let's look at the schedule.
You open with alabama.
You're looking at a loss thereyeah all right.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Then you have kind of an easy stretch there, um
stretch where you got toaccumulate wins well, you got
two gimmies, supposed gimmies, you know, an fcs team and then
kent state who had the onlyworse offense than we did last
season and just fired theircoach, so those should be two
wins right there, both texaseast A&M, kent State, then it's

(12:53):
the big one at Virginia.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
That's really going to start the season.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
It's Norvell's career right there.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Bowl or no bowl.
I think if you lose that game, you're not going bowling.
If you win it, you have a verygood shot, correct.
And then loss number two comesat home to rival Miami.
I think this is a game youcould win, but you're probably
not.
Um that's.
Is that fair to say.
You could win it, but youprobably won't yeah sure we'll
go whatever.
And then you should win versuspittsburgh at home and you

(13:20):
should win at stanford and youshould win at home against way
force.
That gets you at six and two.
You know we're losing at twohome games, um to miami and
alabama.
So those two losses that youthinking that you should win,
you'll have those opponents athome, so maybe you can get one
of those right everything toeverything, maybe seven and one,
if everything goes uh yeah, Iknow that's.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
That's just looking at six and two.
To me, though, would be likeholy shit.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yeah, that's in your bowl.
Eligibility out of the wayyou're not lose the rest of your
games and still make a ballbecause you're beating pitts,
then you're not just Becausethen you have at Clemson.
That's the loss, the toughestgame on the schedule.
If you were to ask me right now, we'll do that here in a second
.
Then we got home to VirginiaTech and then at NC State, which
is a tough place to play, always Florida State finds a way
to lose.

(14:05):
I want to count that as a losstoo, then, but then if you win
all those games seven and fiveat best, so we'll go over the
five losses that we counted.
The five in order of the seasonwould be Alabama, miami,
clemson, nc State, florida, butin rankings of which one's going

(14:26):
to be the hardest to win, number one is Clemson.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
That's going to be the toughest game.
I think they had the bestquarterback that we're going to
face all year.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Best defense.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Defense too, and then sat at the house and we don't
have a special playmaker that itwould take to win those type of
games, as you did in Jameis orJT, because that's the only
games we won.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
You need a lot of playmakers for that.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Yeah, you need a whole team to just get out of
there alive, so I don't see thathappening.
That's the number one game.
What do you find the next mostdifficult game?

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Alabama based off roster based off first game of
the season.
So Florida.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
This is where you know.
At Florida, some people mightsay, being on the road, you
could go there, or Miami even, but you're going to go with
Alabama.
Number three is it.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Number three I'm going Miami.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Oh, wow Over Florida, so Florida on the road.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
I mean, you could argue a toss-up, but I just.
I think Miami's got a betterroster, so Florida four and that
puts NC State five.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
So that's a If you were saying you probably I mean
NC State's probably a coin flip, but I'm marking it down there.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Right, nc State's probably a coin flip, but I'm
marking it down there.
Right, that's probably the sameas that Virginia game.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
There's a big gap from four and five.
Right right, but the four gamesyou don't see any chance really
.
No, well Barring like an injuryto the other quarterback.
If everything goes, chair eightand four.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yeah, then that's what I'm saying that's about,
but it's also the reverse way, where you could be three and
nine.
Yeah, I mean, you saw it lastyear.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
I think if you got somewhere eight wins, you had to
nine to be a miracle.
In the regular season you maybeget a bull win out of that.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
So there, you go Eight or nine would be pretty
much coach of the year type shitman.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Well, there it is.
That's just a glimpse.
Man, we got a lot to go.
We had to go, With the transferportal closing this week.
Just wanted to take a quickglimpse of the pulse around the
area you know you got to keepthose expectations.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Real man.
We'll still be adding playersthroughout the week and weekend.
The less we know the better itis.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
I like it, like this.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Yeah, anyway, 2-10.
Bro, you're going to have tojust Major League One that shit.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Open it up.
Who are these guys?
Right, there you go won thatshit where they open it up who
are these guys?

Speaker 2 (16:40):
right there you go, you gotta batten down the
hatches.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
You gotta rally in the foxhole, but really
everybody just needs to.
That's it.
Everybody just do your job.
You understand that it's sevenand five.
If everybody just do your job,do your job, seven and five is
achievement, but's 7-5.
If everybody just do your job,7-5 is achieving.
But over the summer, if we'rejust slacking, you know, and you

(17:08):
just run around and you get, then hey, you could be 3-9.
We don't want to get.
So everybody Good job.
You understand that?
Pretty simple.
Nba playoffs Playoffs Are goingon.
The Lakers, the Knicks Survived.

(17:31):
Beasley had 20 but Wasn'tenough.
As the Knicks Are off to thesecond round For like the third
year in a row, they're gonna bebattling the Celtics.
The Cavs Are gonna be taking onthe Pacers Over in the West,
still battling it out as Game 7upon us in the Denver Clippers

(17:53):
Series, just like I said itwould be.
And then you have another Game7.
No, game 6.
First in Golden State, up 3-2.
A chance to close it outtonight.
Winner of that series will takeon the T-Wolves.
The winner of the ClippersNuggets will take on the

(18:15):
Oklahoma City Thunder.
So the playoffs are heating upevery night.
Entertainment stuff.
Just wish they weren't on solate College baseball Big series
for the Knolls.
Yeah, clemson, we got our eye onthat one, clemson coming into
town.
Knolls need a big series winafter the disappointing effort
in Louisville Both teams lookedlike shit last week, so we'll
see what gives.
That's about it, man.

(18:38):
Kentucky Derby Get yourgambling on, get your best hat,
get your mint juleps, get yourloot, and we'll watch it all and
we'll react to it all righthere on the North Florida Sports
Network everybody just do yourjob.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
You understand that.
