Not So Anonymous

Today we wrap our conversation on 12 steps by discussing the different ways we have experienced a spiritual awakening, and how we give back what was so freely given to us. Dylan, Gumer, and Jordan are mind blown as Donny recaps his God shot life saving trip to Ohio on this weeks episode of Not So Anonymous. 

The guys continue their conversation on the steps as we dive into some benefits and skepticism on prayer and meditation. Donny takes a trip to outer space, Dylan knows more about God than anyone, Jordan believes masturbation is meditation and manifestation all in one and Gumer eats mushrooms and dies in this “conscious contact” episode of not so anonymous.

We continued to take personal inventory. It’s important that once we get to the tenth step we maintain the willingness we showed in steps 4-9 and identify our character assets and liabilities. Jordan quits the podcast, Donny flexes his social skills on Dylan while Dylan deals with social anxiety and Gumer has a resentment toward an old lady in this “promptly admitted” episode of not so anonymous.

Have you ever had to make a difficult apology to someone? This week the guys discuss the difficulty and freedom when we make an honest amends for our actions and arrive at the place of forgiveness. Dylan isn’t working his steps, Gumer makes an amends at a drunken party, Donny swings a hammer on acid and Jordan thinks his ex might take him back in this “my side of the street” episode of not so anonymous.

What is step 3 and why can it be so difficult to turn our lives over to God? The guys discuss a tough time in their recoveries and the result of living in self will. Dylan isn’t allowed to go to Mexico, Jordan sponsors Donny and Gumer’s days are numbered in this God’s will (sometimes) episode of Not So Anonymous.

What does unmanageable mean to us? The guys reflect back at the denial of their addictions, the bottoms it took them to and the surrender that eventually took place. Is it still good enough to just stay clean today in our recoveries? What does it mean to be present and what are the benefits and hardships that come with it? Donny tries to use a sperm bank to buy crypto, Jordan is allowed at his sisters wedding, Dylan gets high on pre work out and Gumer becomes an emotional pillar during the toughest time of his families life in this God did for me what I couldn’t episode of Not So Anonymous.

It’s been a tough couple of months for Gumer. After experiencing a shoulder injury, his kids and family getting sick, and ultimately losing his brother while his mother is still in the hospital find out how he turns to his program, accepts help, finds connection and re-establishes a relationship with God in this “he ain’t lying” episode of not so anonymous.

Service work is one of the best ways to stay clean and get out of selfish, self centered behavior. Even when we really don’t want to, the guys make themselves available to go on 12th step calls, mission trips, H&I meetings and messed up trips with other people’s luggage in this selfless (kind of) episode of not so anonymous. 

The guys make an attempt to cut pornography and masturbation out of their lives as they talk about the constant need for stimulation, how they were introduced to sex and any sexual traumas or insecurities they may face in this at times raunchy but healing conversation.

Triggers. What are they and when do they come? The guys discuss moments of triggers and how they dealt with them. Donny relapses, Jordan hides from his parents, Dylan lies to a sponsee and Gumer just needs a week off the drugs in this mindset matters episode of not so anonymous.

How many of us have used drugs against our will? The guys talk about the moments of active addiction and a life lived with out choices. Donny puts 2 dollars in the gas tank, Gumer has a weird collection, Jordan makes the walk of shame and Dylan writes himself a letter in this “I can’t stop” episode of not so anonymous.
