A UpFarming nasceu para os conjugar e voltar a trazer práticas agrícolas para o seio de comunidades urbanas, com o objetivo de as fortalecer e criar momentos de partilha à volta da horta e da mesa. Tudo começou com a instalação de hortas verticais em contexto urbano como um meio para um fim: transformar o sistema alimentar, desde o cultivo ao consumo, não esquecendo o transporte. Uma conversa com uma economista que geriu a estratégia de angariação de fundos de uma ONG em África e que se tornou fundadora de uma organização que implementa, entre outras coisas, agricultura aeropónica em escolas e estabelecimentos prisionais.
