Australia has one of the highest life expectancies in the world. On average, Australians live to see their 83rd birthday. But for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, life expectancy is about eight years less. Closing the Gap is a national agreement designed to change that. By improving the health and wellbeing of First Nations, they can enjoy the same quality of life and opportunities as non-Indigenous Australians. - オーストラリアは世界でも長寿の国です。平均寿命は約８３歳となっています。 しかし、アボリジナルとトレス海峡諸島民の平均寿命は８年も短いことがわかっています。 Closing The Gap は、この平均寿命のような格差を是正しようという国家合意です。先住民の心身の健康を向上させ、彼ら、だれもが他のオーストラリア住民と同様の、生活の質・機会を持てるようにすることを目標としています。
