What is anger?

Brené Brown, author of Atlas of the Heart (a book we are obsessed with), defined anger as:

An emotion that we feel when something gets in the way of a desired outcome or when we believe there’s a violation of the way things should be.

Anger is a powerful emotion. It can make us feel strong and in control, or it can make us feel out of control and destructive. But whatever kind of anger we feel, one thing is always true: We believe that someone or something else is to blame for the situation and that something can be done about it.

Anger often masks other feelings such as sadness, hurt, or fear. When we're in this mode, it's tough to think straight or have a productive conversation with the person we're angry at. If you're looking for ways to manage your anger better, our close friend Julie Riga is back to share her story and insights!

In this episode, Julie gets to the bottom of what anger really means. Plagued by anger for many years, Julie has a lot to say about how she has learned how to manage anger as a powerful catalyst and/or a life-sucking companion.

Julie Riga, daughter of renowned chef to the stars, Ennio Riga, has over 20 years of experience in the Pharma Industry, which has given her a wealth of knowledge in business, communications, training, and executive coaching.

Aside from being a certified coach, trainer, speaker, and author, she is also the host of the Stay on Course podcast, where she explores different topics in leadership, personal development, connection, and faith.
