Speaker 1 (00:10):
Oh my gosh, welcome, welcome back, a moment in time
for Odds and Ends.
This is season two with thefriends, episode one, and I
can't I mean even wrap my headaround.
We're bringing it back.
People thought maybe never, buthere I am with Mark and Ed, my

(00:33):
two bestest of buddies in thisrealm, that we took it from
crypto into real life, right, giving everybody a little bit of
the backstory, yeah, and we getto jam again.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I actually I was thinking about it I was
yesterday how it's been justabout two years Since Ed Ed
hosted a weekly chat In thediscord and you and I are the
only two to show up for theentire summer, every week,
everybody.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I was just glad you did.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Dude, and it gave me like a break of like something
to do.
You know, but I had to do butsomething that it was nice, just
got the hangout mark.
It was so much fun intro thereyeah dude.
I know that's crazy that's,it's good.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
It feels good, though it doesn't feel bad.
It feels good.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
It's like, oh, longer term friendships you know, what
I mean, it's like it did, though it did.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Now we all tell you what we all have children now
that's true, man the updates, the updates right for a couple
people that were hanging outwith us, and we'll invite some
people on, probably for otherepisodes this season.
But, mark, you have the biggestupdate, the absolute biggest.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
What do?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
you want to share?

Speaker 2 (01:52):
When we first started talking in Discord, like two
years ago, I remember staying uplate one night and you guys
were just talking about yourkids and I remember even asking
I can remember the uh, the pfp, that you had craig, and I
remember just I didn't know whoyou were that I just remember
seeing that little digitalcharacter and asking you about

(02:13):
kid stuff and you're like man,it's totally worth it.
I said we were thinking aboutit.
Uh, we got very fortunate thatwe decided we would start trying
.
Um and I don't know if it'sgood or bad, it happened on the
first try, wait a minute.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Is it sophomoric of me to be like I wanted to be
like yeah you did, yeah you did, yeah you did.
That's called strong C Dude.
I like the thing about it.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
I hate the euphemism.
I hate the euphemism, all of it.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
All of it around it all but it bugs me, makes me
uncomfortable.
Why I like it, the oh no, it'sgreat.
I mean so yeah, we it's yeah, everything time worked out well
that we're not actually seeingpatients this year, right time
worked out so well that likebaby came literally like the day
finals were happening.
So we're just kind of on asummer break.

(03:06):
I mean, the baby bonding hasbeen amazing, being able to be
home the two of us and nothaving to work, really like it's
been like timing worked outperfectly so, which is great,
because chrissy went her wholelife without wanting to have
kids.
So for somebody who didn't wantto have kids, like I'm glad it
worked out this way.
Oh, oh, hell yeah, becauseshe's instantaneously changed
and so am I.
But like it's been an amazingjourney.

(03:27):
So thank you guys for evengiving me the emotional support
to get started and the whole wayLike it's been incredible.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Mark's giving us flowers.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Ed, Look at this, I'm going to get all rosy I mean
you know, you make your owndecision to have a kid man,
happy that you did it becauseit's awesome, and you now let
another person gets toexperience how cool it is.
You know, really is what itcomes down to.
It's right.
It's like it is one of thosethings that people are always
like oh, you don't, you don'tknow, until you have it and
you're like shut up, shut up,you gotta, you gotta you gotta

(03:55):
be in.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
But it's life changing.
Oh, like you know, you knowyou'll, you'll look at that baby
like so differently, like we'reskeptical and all that.
But it's crazy, like literallythe minute they're born, like
your life changes, yourperspective changes, you love
this person, like it's hard toeven explain it.
Yeah, you know, other than wewere super skeptical and you
guys were right.
I mean it's, it's an instant.
Yeah, it's crazy.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
No, I mean, it's so cool to have a thread, like we
have a chat thread.
I wish that, upon all that, youcould have a cool thread that
you could go to regularly.
Of course, we get to do thisevery once in a while too, but
it's been a long time.
It's been a long time since wedid it, but we get to stay
connected.
I'll say that I just know moreabout what's going on in y'all's

(04:45):
lives, which I love, which Ilove.
I mean, I'm now taking extraeffort on purpose, Like I want
to.
I want to spend more digitaltime with friends.
I'm trying to like scheduleZooms, Kind of inspired by us
doing that more frequently.
I was like, shit, yeah, we'regetting older so it's harder to
stay connected.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
It is older so it's harder to stay connected.
It is and I think I think edeven mentioned this you know
when we were first like hangingout and everybody thinks the
crypto space is like you know, place to make money.
But really like I found thesome of the best friends in my
life here and it's just aproximity thing, right like you
get older and you're only goingto see people within your area
most likely.
But being able to meet peopleall over the country or the

(05:28):
world and become friends reallyquickly is something you can't
experience.
Like it's crazy.
Also, while having that missionof, like you know, trying to
make money on the side like it'sa fun thing because it's like a
goal that you're all united inand brings you closer, that
you're all united in and bringsyou closer.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Well, I'm glad you brought that up because I wanted
to know if Ed or you had heardof this thing I just came in
contact with now.
Apparently, I got to figure outhow to use it, like many of the
crypto tools, right?
Have you all heard ofPolyMarket?
Just because something you saidtriggered it in my mind.
The make money brought theconnection right.
We went to crypto for differentreasons, a lot of it being

(06:04):
financial, but then when youmeet people that you actually
vibe with, oh shit.
Well, now you also have a, ahobby in common, which is like
this beautiful thing.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
But had ed mark shook his head nothing on polymarket
it sounds familiar and Idefinitely see polymarket in
turnaround and stuff doing memesand, uh, is it like a betting
platform for different kinds of,like well, anything?

Speaker 1 (06:26):
really yes for like for anything like the elections
and everything Like.
It looks very interesting.
They're up to almost 100million, I guess, in monthly
action or something like that,or maybe they're close to that,
I don't know.
But I was like whoa and they'vebeen around a couple of years
and it's like, yeah, well, sports betting here in Florida

(06:47):
is legal now Hard Rock is justdoing it.
So what they've got going couldfeasibly hit and they're
talking about you just bettingon probabilities of regular
stuff like the elections.
But I was very intrigued bythat and I did figure.
I mean I got to figure out howto use it.
I was like I will fuck withthis.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
I will absolutely fuck with this yeah, that sounds
like something up your alley, you know, you know, make some
small small it does sound likelittle wagers on random yeah,
dude, I like that, I like beingon like you know there was this
site back in the day um nitrogensports I think or something
like that, but it's not aroundanymore.
But it was it was the same idealike, like you know, I remember

(07:26):
betting on like I think it wasTrump, trump winning on the
election in 2016, or somethinglike that, and like those kind
of odds, you know, or likeanything like that sports.
It was cool, it was nice tohave that.
I don't know what happened?

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Could you trade in and out of your positions?

Speaker 4 (07:41):
back.
Then you would send Bitcoin inand then just have to withdraw
Bitcoin.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Oh shit, Okay, so you're going old school.
It was very simple.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
In the before times.
Yeah, yeah, I know Basicallythat Before all this Bitcoin.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Before the tech wizardry yeah, wow, a lot of
money.
Send your money cross yourfingers.
Yeah, exactly, well, usabilityis so much easier.
I've not done it yet, but I wasintrigued because you could
trade back and forth, and thisepisode is not brought to you by
Polymarket.
I don't know any of them.
I just saw it in a damnnewsletter, which reminds me of

(08:17):
the thing we were texting about.
This episode is also notbrought to you by HelloFresh,
but we desperately need to know,ed, how is your HelloFresh
experience going?

Speaker 4 (08:28):
Now we need to know.
Just had some vegan mushroomfirecracker bowl rice thing,
mark you know the dish.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
This is your only non-meat one, right?

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Yeah, and I had ordered meat, but I was like
this is so involved, I don'twant to put the chicken in it.
I might even put the chicken init, I'll just make sure for
something else.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
so oh yeah, you said you did add that some of it's a
lot of work, bro, so I'msurprised.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
Here's what I'm surprised at, as someone who is
not paid by hello fresh, is thatthe vegetables are fresh like
days later.
That's what's like.
I'm like.
You know, there was, I will say, the first one I had, like the
peppers weren't super fresh, butgenerally speaking, like I just
I just pulled out some carrots, some scallions, some you know a

(09:12):
bunch of other stuff and it waslike super fresh.
I was like all right, dude, allright.
So it's been great, though Ilike it because it's cheaper
than going out and, you know, even though it's not healthy per
se, it's still healthier thangoing out and it's so it's like
it's like a middle groundbetween wanting to just straight
up shop and cook for yourselfand go out.

(09:35):
You know.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
That's.
I'm going to clip it and sendit to him as a gift.
I'll say you know what we know.
We know you're not sponsoringthis show, but this is what real
people, not the celebritiesthat are reading a script this
is actually the experiencepeople are having.
Feel free to share it and thenwe can talk.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Not brought to you by HelloFresh.
Is that your HelloFreshexperience?

Speaker 2 (10:05):
It is.
I think that we.
It seems expensive, I think anymeal service.
We've tried a bunch of mealservices and it seems expensive.
But then when you think aboutlike, anytime you go to the
grocery store you're going tobuy some random things.
They're just walking around andyou're probably going to buy
too much and not use it all, cause you know we don't meal

(10:25):
prep, so it's not exact science.
So this ends up just saving usso much money and it allows us
to try different things.
I mean, we're vegetarian, so wedon't do any of the meat ones.
And when we first started theyhad like one or two vegetarian
options, so it was tough.
But now I think each week wehave like 10 options to choose
from.
So, vegetarian options.

(10:50):
So it was tough, but now Ithink each week we have like 10
options to choose from.
So that's great.
They grew that.
They grew the hell out of it.
Yeah, my question to you is nowthat you've had one that's a
vegetarian meal, are you goingto be ordering more of them?
Are you just going to stay?

Speaker 4 (10:55):
all, I'm open to it.
I don't care, I don't have, uh,I don't care if it's meat or
vegetarian, as long as it's likedelicious, you know what I mean
.
Like I don't that one of the Iwill say it's good yeah there
was a uh when I used to livedown in bisbee arizona.
There was this uh, vegetarianlike well, vegetarian place, all
right, and they had theseburritos.

(11:15):
I just remember one time ortwice even I went there and got
this dude.
It was like unbelievable.
So it's not that vegetarianfood is bad or I would avoid it
or anything, just you know, toprefer meat.
It's just that I feel like it'smore expensive to do really
well and harder to find to doreally well, especially
especially up in like ruralareas where I live.

(11:36):
You know what I mean so.
But but when it is done well,it's like amazingly good, you
know.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
I've had some.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
I think that.
Yeah, I think it takes a littlebit more creativity, although I
know AK has been showing allhis like grilling photos and
everything and I know that takesa lot grilled veggies, though I
know I'm putting something.
Yeah, they're so good.
You ever grill avocado.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
That's our favorite see, that's the hack that you
taught me.
I hadn't had that, I had neverhad it until we ate that.
I believe in New York.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Take an avocado and slice it Just olive oil, salt
and pepper.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Three minutes on the grill and it's like a buttery
mashed potato.
It's so good.
I love buttery.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
I love a fully loaded mashed potato.
Don't get me.
You know, at a steakhouse I'llget a fully loaded mashed potato
.
I'm not shy.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Try that grilled avocado this summer.
It's so good, all right.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
I second, third and fourth that, and I also had, not
with Mark, but when I was in LAand I'm probably going to ask
her to go back to this place wewent to some vegan or vegetarian
place.
I went with my aunt in BeverlyHills and they did like you ever
been to one of them restaurantsand done like the seafood tower
.
Well, mark, no, because hedoesn't eat the meat, but, ed,
you've seen these like theseafood tower type appetizer.

(13:00):
They did it with all differenttypes of mushrooms, but some of
these mushrooms, bro, tastedlike meat.
They like the texture, tastedlike meat, the texture.
It was like lobster tempura.
Yeah, the texture, themouthfeel.
I was like holy shit.
I dipped it in butter.
They set it up, but it was allvegan or whatever.
I want to go back there.

(13:22):
It's really like what you guysjust said.
If you got skill in what you'reputting together, this shit
could be phenomenal.
If you're just in what you'reputting together, this shit
could be phenomenal, right.
But if you're just doing likewhat my lazy ass does, you know,
you throw the bag in themicrowave or you throw it in a
pot and you're like ah, now I'lleat it.
I'll begrudgingly eat it, butI'm not.
My wife makes like good tastingvegetables.

(13:44):
I'm just making vegetables andeating them because I know
they're good.
I'm just making vegetables andeating them because I know
they're good.
I'm a bad cook, by the way.
I'm a bad cook.
That's another thing.
That.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
HelloFresh.
Does that's cool?
It's like, yeah, I'm similar toyou, right, is that I'll?
Well, at least like it soundslike I'll just make vegetables,
just make vegetables, you knowgenerally speaking, like
whatever.
Steamables, don't even care,yeah, whatever.
But this makes you like makevegetables, you know, and it's

(14:12):
nice dude, like it's pretty coolman, you know, I feel like I'm
eating better than I have in along time.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
just, oh, definitely stuff, you know, yeah yeah, you
said it's not that healthy, butit is pretty healthy.
Like there's not too muchyou're frying in it, I don't
know the meat ones.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
How that is no, I just mean like it's not
necessarily like portion control.
I don't know, I don't know, youknow, it's just, but that like
I don't know I don't know itdoesn't.
It's not like diet food, youknow, I mean, it's just no food,
definitely not fresh food, that's all yeah it's just fresh.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
yeah, definitely not diet food, I, I agree it is.
It's fresh and it says hello.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
This segment is not brought to you.
Hello, it's delivered.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
It's fresh.
Yes, Ed you got to put yourpromo code in the bottom.
Oh my God.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
You know what?

Speaker 3 (15:14):
How about we'll put Ed's promo code in the show
notes, because you'll save fresh, but no, I think it saves the
other person money?
I will not.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
I think it does remember no remember how much
you said oh, you're right, you're doing a good deal.
You're doing a good deal for my130 extra dollars oh hey, dgen
tips are down, so you're tippingin hello fresh right oh, you
also have to explain how toorder ed Ed.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
Oh, dude Ed explain the quantity.
Dude, I didn't get that.
Oh, you had too many.
It kept letting me add, but itdidn't even like.
It was just like add anotherrecipe, one second, oh how many
did you get?
Just like add another recipe.
And I was like, okay, well, here's the thing is.
The misunderstanding is, as Isubscribed to it, I had the
misunderstanding.
I thought that I would select abunch of recipes that I liked

(15:51):
and then it would send me fromthose recipes I didn't realize I
was legit, just ordering.
You were straight ordering theordering, yeah, and so I kept
adding recipes that I thoughtthat I liked and I added like
eight of them, and then I waslike I don't know, I got
preoccupied, I thank God.
And then, like a couple of dayslater, it shipped and I was like

(16:13):
oh, oh, oh, no, dude, dude, Igot eight bags.
I mean unbelievable.
Every one of those things withmeat too.
So like I mean, this is a lotof food, dude, as you know,
probably.
And so eight bags, two boxes, and it was uh, which should have
been $250.

(16:33):
And it was like 130 bucksbecause of your discount.
So I got eight bags of food.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
That's $130.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
Dude, it was crazy.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
We still got it.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
It's still fresh which is why I'm saying this,
because I just made that and Iwas like dang this carrot
scallion, it's all like superfresh Still.
We got it last Friday.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
I tell you what it was.
I'm impressed with that too, because when I tried to order
something for you on Amazon, Icould have it to me the next day
and it wasn't going to come toyou for like five days.
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
And for like food, for food tobe that fresh, getting to you
all the way out in the middle ofnowhere like that's impressive
I think it comes from phoenix.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
I think phoenix just bombs up here I was impressed
they gotta have I?
Uh, you know if you starebefore I've ordered those
cinnamon buns or whatever.
Like I'm flown in from newjersey and I'm like shocked at
the same day.
Like comes in, flies in fromjersey, jersey, like Phoenix,
phoenix it's right on the.
You know the transport, thefood like transport industry is

(17:35):
insane Logistically Like I don'tknow how they do it.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Dude Respect.
Thank you.
I think it's incredible, though, Cause you, you there's like a
website.
You could go to get manydifferent types.
Now they'll like Uber style, take it from all around.
That's it.
What's it called Gold Belly?

Speaker 3 (17:51):
That's right, that's it, gold Belly it was good dude,
it was good I've done Deli fromthem and something else.
What'd you do From Annie Bros,or something?

Speaker 1 (17:59):
No, from New York.
The Manny Bros is from moreYork neck of the woods.
Yeah, we did Cats, okay, okayokay, okay, I've been to cats
too with David.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, when we go toNew York, we do that.
That's what, mark.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Smith said I know.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
I don't like when I bite a sandwich.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Hermannies wasn't near you.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
Pittsburgh.
I'm from Philly, that's, so sixhours might as well be a whole
different universe, guys.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
I don't like this guys.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
yeah, that's so six hours You're so different Might
as well be a whole differentuniverse Guys?

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Yeah, that's true, you're from the same state.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Is there a big rivalry between the same state
of having like cheese steaksversus your Permanente brothers?

Speaker 4 (18:40):
I think more so.
The issue is that I went toPenn state, which was in the
middle of the state, and so halfthe state was Steelers fans,
half the state was Eagles fansand and so half the state was
Steelers fans, half the statewas Eagles fans, and then you
had sprinkling of like Giantsfans, but also the Steelers.
I went from 2005 to 2009 andthe Steelers, I think, won like
two Super Bowls in that time.
It was terrible.

(19:00):
It was a terrible time period,a dark time in professional
sports.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Eagles history fans head.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
Dark times, my, my, my.
So I was in a fraternity.
My the brothers were likeduring our hell week, like I
think our hell week we got in.
If I remember correctly here itwas like right in the beginning
of February, so like rightaround the Super Bowl, and yes,
because I had to clean up forthe Super Bowl as one of my.
But anyway, damn it, thatsounds bad.

(19:28):
That sounds bad dude anywaylong story short they PT'd us.
They PT'd us like one of thedudes came in here.
I just remember him yelling onefor the thumb, one for the
thumb for, like another SuperBowl ring.
I think they got six orsomething like that.
And oh dude, we're all like oh,life is miserable, this is the
worst.
And he's just cheering.
Damn the Steelers fans, damn itthey are.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
I know we went.
I went to a small college inCleveland and there were a ton
of people from Pittsburgh thereand it was not fun.
That's tough for you.
Yeah, a little differentmiserable, miserable.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
I still don't like them.
I don't dislike them the sameway I don't like them.
Well, he's got a differentMiami thing.
We have a quote, unquote, rivalry, right, right.
So you same way I don't likehim.
Well, he's got a division overthere.
Connection.
Yeah, we've got the state.
We have a quote unquote rivalryright, right.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
So you, there's a rivalry, there's a division
rivalry you have a real rivalry, but there's no real rivalry if
you can't win your, your, yourteam was on the up and up, but
right now yeah, you're doingbetter, though chubbs coming
back chubbs coming back aboutthat stuff.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
Man, yeah, that'll be , I don't know about that stuff
man yeah that'll be nice.
Chubb's crazy, that'll be crazy.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
But you guys are going to be great.
I'm very high on him and I'mhigh on Anthony Richardson
Anthony.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
Richardson's awesome defense.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
I think the Browns are going to have a strong year.
Did you hear Justin Jeffersonjust got?

Speaker 4 (20:45):
Yeah, scott, yeah, yeah he did, he did I hate the
Eagles Guaranteed they couldhave drafted him Upon signing.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Oh, we drafted Jalen Rager.
No, I didn't realize.
Yeah, he you didn't.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
I don't know who that is.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
Exactly, he's fine but he's not Justin Jefferson.
No, he's not fine.
But the worst part was we'reall watching the draft going
like Justin Jefferson, like weall wanted Jefferson.
Everyone's texting, yeah, likeJustin Jefferson, and he's here.
Then they pick Jalen Rager andthen the Vikings text.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Howie blew it.
You're saying Howie blew it.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
Howie blew it dude.
They blew it dude.
Howie's the man, so don't getme wrong, but he did blow that
one.
That is a big miss, thathappens almost every draft.
Well, now we have DevontaeSmith and AJ.
Brown Devontae.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
Smith.
Yeah, AJ Brown, you got a sickduo.
We're good now.
We're not worried.
Now you have an absolute sickduo.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
Jalen Hurts could be a liability.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
What, what, who said that?
Whatever.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
What are you going to do, man?
All of our teams play eachother this year, right, do they?

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Do we?

Speaker 2 (21:58):
I know the Browns play both the Eagles and the
Dolphins.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
I don't know if the Finns play the Eagles.
I'm going to Green Bay, I thinkguys for a game.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Are you really that's ?

Speaker 1 (22:08):
cool yes.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
David, who are you going to see in Green Bay?

Speaker 1 (22:11):
Well, I think either the Cardinals or the I can't
remember.
I can't remember.
It's in October, I'm prettysure or the.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Texans.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
I don't know what That'd be a great game.
That one might be not the one.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
We might be going to the Cardinals.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
I voted Texas, but I'm not sure we're going to go
up there, I'm going to supportmy man who's a big Packer fan
and I think Jordan loves a studHeck.
Yeah, It'll be fun.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
And you're going when it's still warm out, before it
gets to be wintertime.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
I'll watch any professional game.
There's a little bit of warmthyes, you want to give me tickets
to any football game.
I went to a.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Bucs game.
Last year Exactly.
I liked it.
My buddy took me to a Bucs game.

Speaker 4 (22:59):
I think he's taking us to another one this year,
yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
Well, I will say I'm a little bougie of, I don't want
to sit all the way up.
I will not do that, I'd ratherwatch it from a bar if I was
going to be.
I don't want to be in thebleeders.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
What I've noticed is, and you know, when I used to go
to the link back in the day,you know the, you know Eagle
stadium or whatever is even thebleeders Like it was a great
view of the field and we wouldalways be like we would comment,
like me and our friends wouldbe like dang, like you know,

(23:35):
probably just cope, but it wasgood, but I, but I don't like
that, I don't like the height itscares me that's hard cope yeah
it's

Speaker 2 (23:37):
hard as hell, dude, because it scares me too.
I agree, oh, I agree, I agree Idon't like being up there.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
I don't like the way I feel I can't see shit, dude.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
they have the, the types that like or like're
underneath, like if you're in aclubhouse, you're underneath an
area where, like, it's built toshift and you can see like a
rock and move it.
No thanks, dude, Do you guyssee that stuff?
Did you ever see that, Dude?

Speaker 1 (23:58):
if you give a look, I have seen that stuff.
You don't have to haveoverhangs, I'm not interested
yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
They have overhang where people were like you know,
exceeded.
And then the stuff you know, these civil engineers or
whatever, built it.
Oh, oh.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
Mark, you were frozen like this and chalking off.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
I thought you were so impressed with my story.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
All right.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
He was.
I need to figure out how to dothat.
It was good.
We went to see the Browns playin SoFi Stadium.
See the Browns play in SoFiStadium play the Rams last year.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Lower Bowl.
I agree with you.
We're going to one game outthere with good seats.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
That stadium is impressive.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
The new ones.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
I haven't been to SoFi.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
You're going to LA when, in August, yeah so I won't
see any of it.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Now there's a chance.
I don't know if there'll besome sporting event that I could
try to go to.
It would be WNBA.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
How long are you going to be out there?

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Um six days.
I got the VCon, I got my ticketon base.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
They dropped it on base.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
How much was it Wow?

Speaker 1 (25:09):
In secondary volume.
Okay, I think 0.03.
I think 0.03.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Oh, so much cheaper than what.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
A year or two ago, how far we've fallen, wow.
Well, I think it's going to beinteresting, because attendance
is not going to be huge and he's, I don't know.
I'm going to be intriguedeither way, because they're
going to have speakers andthey're going to have shit going
on.
But what weekend is that?

(25:36):
It is the 9th, I think.
Let me see here it is the 8th,9th, 10th or 9th, 10th or 9th,
10th, 11th.
Yeah, vcon, let me see it.
It again.
I expect they didn't put outthe speakers yet I don't think.
Oh no, maybe they did.
Maybe they did.

(25:56):
Yeah, they do.
So does it have anyone superfamous?
Ariana Huffington, gary, notseeing as many, oh, howie Mandel
.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Some famous Facebook social media people How's?

Speaker 4 (26:08):
the world going.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
I'm down for some Bobby's World, bro.
I love this show.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
Definitely not as star-studded as years past.
I love it too Back when Howiehad hair dude.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
You had a great time last year, though.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, I plan on.
You know they have a lot ofevents and stuff around so if I
can pop into some things see ifsome of the people I met the
last year and the year beforeare still around.
You know I do.
I go at this stuff from more ofa business approach.
Right Of seeing, you know isthere networking opportunities

(26:46):
to be had.
So which has worked out, whichhas worked out a little bit, so
we'll see.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
We'll see what happens.
That'll be fun.
I'm excited for you.
You always have such a goodtime when you can just be like
floating around networking.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
Well, yeah, and I like to learn like some booths
will be there with somecompanies and stuff, so that'll
be fun for me.
He always has usually like agarage sale area set up that's
got collectibles.
I love collectibles.
I don't buy any.
Well, maybe this year I will, who knows but like it's cool.
Like from that perspective, Ibought merch for my kid, stuff
like that.
That's exciting.

(27:16):
I'll enjoy that, but I don't.
I definitely do not think it'sgoing to be a whole lot of
exciting NFT chatter to be awhole lot of exciting nft
chatter.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
The times have changed man well.
We were actually consideringgoing out.
My brother had a baby in marchand we were thinking of going
the first weekend of august downthere to visit.
But maybe we'll have to go thesecond weekend of august.
He's in.
Uh, I can't.
I'm blanking on it now.
It's one of the areas.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
But near there.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Long Beach.
He's in Long Beach.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
I don't know how far that is, because geography is my
weakness, but let's sort it out.
It's not far, dude.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
I'm not a good estimator when people are like
that.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
How far?

Speaker 4 (27:55):
is that how many football fields I'm like the
worst with those things, hey.
If you want to spend a day atvconn, you're not far from uh la
yourself that's true, I know, Iknow, you know we we kind of
decided this summer is thatwe're gonna?
I think we're staying in state, because eddie doesn't want to

(28:17):
go out of state, he does notlike to fly, which he's like a
man after my own heart, and andit's a balance though, because I
want him to experience- stuffRight yeah.
But I mean, I'm also like oh, Idon't.
I too don't like traveling, Idon't like traveling.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Don't get to a point.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
Road trips though.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
What about road tripping it?
He, he, he doesn't like roadtrips.
I'm the same kind of way.
Obviously it's funny, but Iwant to make sure he does get
experiences.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
No, some people do not like travel yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Did he pick anything fun for yesterday today?

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Oh my gosh.
What's hilarious about that isthat our day was very normal for
the most part, which goes to mymom's theory.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
Really.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
When I was talking to my mom, she was like well, is
that any different than hisnormal day, which goes to my
mom's theory?
When I was talking to my momand she was like well, does he
she's like, is that anydifferent than like his normal
day?
And I was like alright, mom, fair, fair, mom, fair enough,
dude oh, that it's yes day, every day for him yeah, he's
spoiled and whatever, which isyou know.
That's cool.
I'm happy for it.
I want to spoil my own kid.

(29:22):
That's what I'm here for.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
so I want to spoil my own kid.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
That's what I'm here for.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
I know that's what my mom said.
She works in the NICU out here.
She said you can't spoil anewborn.
So we have an issue where ourbaby pretty much only sleeps in
our arms.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
That's the way you can do it.
He still sleeps in us a lot.

Speaker 4 (29:42):
Who cares?
I love the fact that I cansleep with my kid and that you
know, like there's a time wherehe's not going to do that
anymore and because what 30 yearold do you know?
That's these other parents likeit's going to end, right, you
know, and in that time you don'tget back and it's just like so
I'm embracing it and it's if Imiss out on a movie, or sarah's,
and she knows that's just howit goes.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
I love the closeness of it.
Ultimately, historically, it'slike people got away from that,
which sucks.
People were always like thatbefore.
Families always used to sleeptogether.
It was more out of necessity orwhatever, and then affluence
brought more rooms to houses andthings like that.
There are still many culturescurrently around the world that

(30:27):
families sleep together.
So I think I hate that it got abad rap in America Because
again we you know Melco sleepsand we lay with him and stuff
like that.
So you know, I'm very pro thependulum swing experience,
because I think about it justlike you.
Yes, yes, it's a moment in time.
It's a moment in time.
Moment about it.
Just like you, yes, yes, it's amoment in time.
It's a moment in time.
If you're only going to haveone kid, like us, I'm taking in

(30:48):
every.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Yeah, dude.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
Please live with me until you're 30.
I don't care, dude, I'll havemy best friend here and this is
great, you know whatever.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
I do think it is cool to like that perspective you've
got, ed, especially as yourson's older than mine.
Even so, it's like you want tospend time with them, right?
The boomers gave such a bad rapto parenting Like it seemed
like it was a terribleexperience for them.
Yeah.
When really it's this coolthing if you have a good
approach.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
Yes, yeah, and I'm like, I'm blessed, of course,
that my son's favorite hobby islike my favorite hobby, of
course, but um, yeah, I don'tknow.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
I already think that's awesome Like he's.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
He's eight, he's already.
That's like what 10 years from18.
So I'm already, you know, I'malready like halfway there.
I don't want to think about it.
All right Anyway, Right Anywayno, don't think about it.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
Don't think about it, yeah push that away.

Speaker 4 (31:46):
And just how do you like fishing?
The other day, live in the now, yes, great dude, and, and uh,
you know his, his bumpa, whichis what he calls his grandfather
uh, caught a nice big old browntrout and we caught a bunch of
other rainbow trout and it was.
It was good man.
It's.
Fishing on the reservation islike, is the way to do it around
here, you know, don't?
I guess it's a little pro tipfor people out in the well in
general, I bet anywhere thatthere's a reservation it's got

(32:08):
an official reservation than thestate state land nearby, cause
people, less people buy thepermits and you know they're.
They're awesome, is there?
like anything you have to do toget a permit, you just pay the
money just pay the money, justpay the money and I think, like
for me it's $10 a day or $100for a calendar year.

(32:29):
So a lot of times we'll justgive $100 for a calendar year.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
That's not bad at all .

Speaker 4 (32:33):
No, dude.
And then now there are somelakes that are like special
permit like, where you have topay $25 or $30.
But you can also catch liketrophy fish in there.
So you to pay $25 or $30, butyou can also catch trophy fish
in there.
It's cool, dude, there'ssomething for everyone up here.
I love fishing.
Do you guys fish?

Speaker 1 (32:55):
Cannot say that I do with any regularity, but my son
likes to pretend, so I amlooking at toddler or small kid
reels to try to get me startedBecause I used to do it
occasionally at a local pond andthings like that, but it was
not regular and I went out witha few friends on boats but it
didn't speak to me as a foreveractivity, but I'd done it.

(33:18):
What about you, Mark?

Speaker 2 (33:20):
Yeah, the last time I went fishing was probably like
15 years ago.
We went deep sea fishing.
That was fun.
It's obviously not somethingyou can do all the time.
I could see how it would bereally peaceful.
I love fishing If you're justdoing lake fishing.
That'd be peaceful.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
It could definitely be.
I see other things as morepeaceful, though.
Like a massage.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
Like a massage.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Like a massage.
Alright, fair enough.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
It's not that kind of peaceful.
It's like peaceful if you wantto go with your son and have
something to do and get somewildlife in there, and then it's
peaceful and it's nice.
And then you know, whenever Igo I have to buy two dozen night
crawlers, Like one for bait andone for him to like play with
in the dirt.
You know, because otherwisehe'll take all mine and they're

(34:11):
gone so he'll put them worms.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
that's awesome catch crayfish or crawdads, whatever
you want to call them, but it'sgood, dude.
Oh nice, that's cool.
Where do you get do?
How do you catch those?

Speaker 4 (34:19):
just a net dude, usually they steal your bait,
yeah.
So, like they hide under rocks, like right around the shoreline
, and, uh, and when you like, you know when you're well, it
depends wherever they're at.
Really, they just hide underrocks and they'll sneak out and
and grab onto your worm and then, like, tuck it under and grab
it, start trying to eat it.
And if you, if you pull itslowly enough, they'll stay on

(34:40):
the line and like, reel them allthe way in and, yeah, use a net
or just like fling them over.
Um, but I don't know if you'veever like, if you boil crabbing
immediately, I don't eat those.
But if, like, if you go, if yougo crabbing in like the bay for
like I we used to go for likeblue I think it was blue crab um
, outside out, you know, in newjersey or whatever, um, it's the

(35:02):
same thing like you wouldliterally go out in the boat,
you would tie a bunker head likea dead fish head, literally to
a wire right and you'd literallytake a piece of rope and you'd
drop it into the water and thenyou'd just wait and then you'd
try to pick it up and feel if itwas a little bit heavier and if
it was yeah, you had to slowly, like you were sneaking up on

(35:23):
something, pull it all the wayup, otherwise it would drop off
the line and then, as soon as itgets close enough to the water,
net it.
Or, you know, for anyone whohasn't gone crabbing in this
crowd, this is a little skill, alittle more skill than I
realized dude, it's crabbing, soI mean I'm sure you could also
just put down a, you know, acrab trap or whatever.
But like that's the way we didit growing up, it was just fun,

(35:45):
you know yeah, you were beingmuch more artful, you're being
much more.
Yeah, it's, it's fun pulling upbig crabs, like no, that's all
it's like, it's just fun goahead.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Oh, I believe that.
I believe that.
No, I will.
The few times I did fish it wasmore fun to get a bigger one.
There's like a no.
Well, the few times I did fishit was more fun to get a bigger
one.
There's like a competitive edgeto that.

Speaker 4 (36:08):
Dude, people put weights.
There was a guy I read this inthe news like he was trying to
win a trophy.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Oh yeah, it was right over here, was it?

Speaker 4 (36:20):
He put weights inside the fish like oh, scumbag boo,
they put weights in their fish.
Yeah, what's that?

Speaker 2 (36:25):
about Boo boo, get them out of here.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
I think they got charged with a felony for that A
felony People respect thehunting and fishing Everybody
was so upset.
Yeah, you don't mess withhunting and fishing dude.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
There were two guys that were adding weights.

Speaker 4 (36:39):
I believe Ohio.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Arizona, there's a lot of good outdoorsmen.
I've got a.
Arizona there's a lot of goodoutdoors Massive industry.
I've got a friend I justlearned I was my naivete, or
whatever it's called.
I was naive about like sheworks and builds graphics for
these outfitting companies oroutfitters.
I had to Google that andhearing you, ed knows, but I had

(37:02):
to Google what the hell is thatoccupation?
And it's people that like canset you up for outdoor
activities, like that's whatthey are.
I was like what, yeah, but likeyeah, for hunting or for setting
up equipment, like and theseare thriving businesses.
It feels like a whole differentculture.
And it's my friend who alsodoes graphic design.
She's phenomenal, she's like acreative director of mine and

(37:26):
she was saying like I love howwe live in like two different
worlds about that.
Like I didn't even know whatthat was and there's whole
massive industry built around it, like massive industry.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
It is a whole different like culture, like
there's.
You know, my students will begone for like a week, maybe a
week and a half at a time, because it's elk season or
whatever.
You know, it's just part of thenormal accepted and, like you
said, you know, like I havestudents who graduated.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
I think that's cool.
I think that's cool shit.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
Dude.
People will pay tens ofthousands of dollars for good
paid guides Like good hunts,it's crazy.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
Oh, it's massive Mark .
Good hunts, it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
Especially on the reservation.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
You're not even allowed to go on there.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
unless you have the special permit, You're paying
$30,000, $40,000, $50,000, I betto go on a nice elk, a bull
hunt, I would imagine.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
For sure it's a money game too, because these guns
and the equipment to do it, well, they're not cheap.
Not cheap.
You know what I mean.
Like and it's cool.
It's like golf.
It's like golf people that getreally into golf it gets
expensive, it's.
It's an interesting hobby andthere it's its own culture.
It's its own culture.

(38:37):
We've got a lot of cultures, ed, I want to be respectful of
your time and wrap this seasontwo, episode one here that we
brought and I do have to endwith what I would call a
correction of my own lack ofreading.
I was bagging on the speakersfor VCon because I didn't think
they were celebs, but I waswrong.

(38:59):
They're not celebs, they'relike CEOs and founders of
massive fucking companies StateFarm, fucking Therabody,
tropicana, h&r Block.
I was like oh, it's justbusiness-y now.
It's just all business stuff.
So I just wanted to correctmyself and I'm going to go

(39:20):
listen to the founder of Bluey.
Since my kid watches Bluey, that dude's going to be there.
I want to hear about him.
He executive produced Bluey, which I think is cool.
Love it.
So anyway wrapping it allaround.
We'll get some more episodesout in the near future.
Drop a comment, subscribe to athing, whatever it may be.
