going to talk big bucks now.
Now, cody, you ain't seennobody kill monster bucks like
this guy.
Huge mule deer, huge whitetail.
Whitetail is over 200 inchesGuys.
(00:20):
We hundred inches guys.
We haven't had 200 inch buck inthis room yet.
So this was gonna be a good one.
You guys stay tuned.
Make sure you leave a like, subscribe.
Hit the bell for notifications.
Now let's jump into it.
All right, this is a full team, but only one of us this year
has really put down the bigbucks, and that has to be cody.
So I mean, I would say, lookingat what you've killed this year
(00:43):
, this has to be one of yourbetter years.
I would assume definitely mybest year ever.
I mean, total, what do youthink you killed this year in
inches?
Speaker 2 (00:52):
765, hmm, I don't
know if I've ever even seen
something like that.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
You already knew that
answer four deer.
That's been there my wholelifetime, dude.
Four deer, four deer, four deer.
I ain't killed that in elk.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Like get out of here,
dude.
We don't agree.
That's ridiculous.
You're pretty close, wait aminute.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
No, you're right,
which first elk?
No, I'm right, darryl, I donecrunched it up.
I'm way short, I just thoughtabout it.
The other one yeah, okay, yeah, and if you add my bucks to that
, still ain't beat them that'scrazy man.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
So how do you kill
these big deer?
What's the secret?
Speaker 1 (01:31):
just stay after when
that combine goes in the shed at
the end of the harvest.
So when you're out there drivingaround doing your thing, you're
seeing these big deer yeah, Imean I'm always on big deer like
that, but it seemed like justeverything went right this year.
Really Couldn't make the wrongmove everywhere I went.
You know, really, so you travelaround, so you farm here in
(01:53):
Arkansas, but once you put thecombine up and it's deer season,
I mean you roll out and youleave Arkansas.
Yeah, I'm not studying Arkansas.
Yeah, you're not even inArkansas.
I'm hitting the Midwest.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
I got you.
I got you.
So even if you do see a gooddeer in Arkansas, you're not
Usually.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
I mean, I usually
have a good deer to chase on the
farm back home, but I just savehim for like January.
Yeah, I got you.
So when you hit the road, whatare you doing Like door knocking
?
I have a bunch of leases out inillinois.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
That's where I spend
most of my time at but I had a
iowa tag this year, so that'swhere I went first.
But so do you go out, putcameras out and do all that
stuff and then, yeah, I run over100 cameras.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
What brand covert he
does?
Speaker 3 (02:37):
the best ones are you
just I think, so I like them.
So you run 100 cameras so.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
So you run 100.
So this deer at least 100.
How much does it want, God?
I'm scared to know that'ssomething you don't look at.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
I hope he can't sell
those after season.
It costs a lot of money to killa lot of bone like that it does
.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
I mean when you
really think about it.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
yeah, it costs a lot
of money.
I knew it.
Yeah, You'd do what.
I'd run 100 cameras if I coulddo that for sure.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Well, you could, why
would?
Speaker 3 (03:06):
you do it.
You gotta have the skills to doit.
I mean there's still more to it.
I mean I could have all thisstuff and still probably
wouldn't kill a big deer.
We just now got you in ahanging hunt.
I know I'm still not thatthat's safe, but a deer I don't
think can he kill a deer likethat 10 feet off the ground.
Oh for sure because it's ashigh as he gets to 10 feet.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
I killed all those on
the ground.
No, he doesn't get very high.
Thanks, you stalk him.
He's scared of heights.
Really, yeah, I'm scared ofheights.
Oh, you're getting blind.
Huh, yeah, you're more of ablind guy I'm more of.
When you say Stockholm, I won'tdo that.
What does it look like?
You paint your face?
There's a lot that goes into it.
I mean, you got to get eyes onthem and know a general area
(03:48):
that they're in and then prettymuch know he's going to be
laying somewhere lookingdownwind.
So you just kind of quarterinto it and just main thing is
getting eyes on him before hesees you.
And it ain't easy because he'sfound some and tried to put me
on them multiple times.
What happened?
Tommy and I blow them out everytime.
What happened?
Speaker 3 (04:09):
You're just impatient
.
He's not stealthy, I'm notpatient enough, he's not.
Is that stealthy?
Speaker 1 (04:13):
No, what do you do?
I mean, you got to crawl on allfour.
He's the most unstealthy personI've ever seen.
What makes?
Speaker 2 (04:26):
him unstopping, Just
I don't know he just he don't
have it, I think it's his buildup, cody looks like he'd be like
a ninja.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
You know he looks
like he's.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
So what do you do?
You take off your shoes andyour socks.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Nah, I don't ever get
barefoot.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
I keep my boots on.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
He just goes really.
He just does murals.
He just he's legit.
He's a killer Because it's theMerles.
The Merles.
I'm telling you, what are youtalking about?
What is a Merle?
Are you wearing them today?
No, I didn't bring them.
They're on the boot dryer.
I put them to work yesterday.
(04:56):
People that wear those.
They're not wearing the moststylish, whatever I mean.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
I don't know what
that is.
We get a picture.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah, pull up, pull
up.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Can we Google?
Speaker 1 (05:07):
this.
I seen him, I was like boom, daniel's got him.
He's a killer.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Daniel's a killer.
He's a killer Anytime.
You see those, they're legit.
I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
I ain't wearing them.
Why, though?
Because what them are?
Speaker 3 (05:25):
ugly, you think
they're ugly, but them have got
to be.
What makes these shoes sospecial?
Daniel's shoes, I mean, there'sjust something about them.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
They're just
comfortable.
Oh, daniel, they look goodthough, cause Daniel, that's his
age.
See, you're worried about looks, that's what I'm saying the
guys that ain't worried aboutthe looks of them, they really
use those shoes to the fullpotential.
What makes them so good is whatI don't understand.
I don't know, dude, If you lookgood, you feel good.
Yeah, but I've noticed thatpeople that wear them shoes like
(05:53):
whatever their field ofexpertise is, they're on point.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
I've noticed that I
didn't know that, and it's funny
that Daniel has them.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
So, all right, I'm
going to get some and I'm going
to go hunt the general.
If I kill the general with themall, I swear to God I'll wear
them for the rest of my life.
But is that not right, tyler?
No, you're 100% right.
Whether they're a mechanic, they're the most badass mechanic
wearing those.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
I don't have any,
though they don't care about the
looks, dude.
That's probably why I don'tthink very good, and they're
called Merles yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Well, he's the one.
I'm thinking like how can Ithink I need some good luck, but
I don't think you can just putthem on and be good.
Are they waterproof?
It's like a lifestyle, are they?
Speaker 2 (06:33):
waterproof.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
You can get some
waterproof ones, yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
I want to get.
I went hold on.
He's just unstealthy, like he'sone of them that when he gets
out of the truck, like he'sputting his head down and he's
walking as fast as he can, he'sjust going A to B and hoping
he's in the right spot.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
You ever get mad at
him Like dude you slow down,
yeah, all the time.
What do you tell him?
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Like, hey, dude, quit
it.
I mean, I know, I know we'renot going to kill nothing, but I
just follow him in there.
I feel like sometimes you justmight do something and you're
like all right.
I'm just hoping one day helearns, but he probably won't
Really.
So what's bad is I haveactually been successful as far
as getting up on the deer, but Iget so impatient, Like if we're
(07:19):
on one and he's bedded down orsomething, like I'm always
trying to shoot him in his bed.
You know what I mean, insteadof like waiting him out, cody
will stop a hundred.
Like he's got some kind ofsixth sense, like knows when he
gets up where he's going to go,so he'll be a hundred yards from
him and cut him off when he'scoming through there.
I'm always trying to shoot himin the bed.
Never works out.
(07:41):
I almost killed one in his bedin Illinois and I got up, 10
yards from him and we lockedeyes and he jumped up and I shot
three foot under him.
You nervous when we locked eyes, I don't even think I aimed, I
just pulled the trigger and Ishot.
I almost shot his foot off.
Was it a big buck?
(08:01):
He's probably 148 point.
Well, let's show some of yourdeer if you don't know what a
big buck is.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
we mean, it was it's
pretty good.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
It's probably 148
point.
Well, let's show some of yourdeer.
Yeah, let's.
If you don't know, what a bigbuck is we're fixing to show you
some big bucks.
Yeah, aaron, will you bringthese big bucks up?
Yeah, you never touched deer,is that?
All these with a?
Speaker 3 (08:13):
bow.
Hey, let's do the smallest onefirst.
The smallest one, oh man.
So tell us about this buckright here.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
This was an Illinois
gun buck, but I shot him on the
gun hunt with my bow.
So the way Illinois works isyou have to use your gun tag on
the gun hunt or you lose it.
And it was like the lastafternoon.
It only held up.
The center camera Caught himyeah.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
So what did he score?
155.
Okay, we're going to get a lotof hate on this, so this is
definitely a 155, guys, it isdefinitely.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
I mean, tim, you
should post a picture with that
deer on Facebook, just get himgoing.
I don't think you should do it,we should do that.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
You should definitely
take a picture.
Hey, can we do?
Hey, can I use one of your bigbucks?
Yeah, you can use all of them.
Take a picture.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
They're going to get
so mad.
Bring another one up here.
Bring another one.
Yeah, right there.
That buck is crazy.
That's nothing but a puretypical beautiful frame buck.
This is a late season.
Illinois buck, it's a lateseason, yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
And what did this
buck score?
He went 181.
181.
18, 81.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
A good buddy of mine.
Put me on him.
It's a little big.
In front of my face I feel likeit's huge.
I'd like to have his taxidermybill.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Apparently he doesn't
care.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
He's not even that
one's gold.
Daryl knows his taxidermistuntil he got the hunt while they
were in Paris.
That idiot.
I don't even think we can starton that.
So this is all this year.
You killed all these bucks thisyear, y'all.
Yeah, bring that one up, holy.
Look at this son of a.
Oh my god that was my first one.
(09:54):
This year.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Is this your?
So this this deer right herescored 200.
And what?
206, 206.
Is that your biggest buck?
It was, yeah, I'm not gonna lie.
If I kill that, I wouldn't hunt, no more than that was my first
deer.
Okay, see y'all next year yeah, but you get mad at him.
Though.
You kill one, you know let's doanother one.
You know it's.
You know that's a mature buck,so it's an awesome deal.
(10:16):
You know, I don't know if Ikill that, I'm still gonna be
like let's go fishing.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
How much that deer
weigh?
I didn't get to weigh him him,but he had to be bumping 300.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Good lord, what is
this?
Speaker 1 (10:29):
You think you'd have
pulled what you did in Missouri
on that.
One Tim no shot.
Alright bring out the last one.
Did you do that on that one?
I went the back way up to evenshow this one.
Alright, so explain it.
Walk us through this.
This is an over-the-counterArizona mule deer.
Wow, that's impressive.
You don't have to buy.
Is it drawn?
Arizona?
That was on an over-the-countertag so anybody can get that.
(10:54):
I mean so, dude, this thing isa peru.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
Honestly, you drive
it around and you spot this deer
.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Well, I've been
hunting out there for like three
years and I met a good group ofguys that were like brothers
now and they're they run anoutfitter but they're like the
best in the business and I'vebeen on that deer for three
years.
They found him this year backin the same area and I was busy
hauling rice and they weretelling me you know you got to
get up here, you know we'reseeing him every day.
He's chasing does like crazy.
So I was in the middle ofhauling rice and we wrapped that
(11:33):
up and I hopped in the trucklike nine o'clock in the morning
, drove 20 hours straight, gotthere middle of the night.
That's impressive.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Golly Jake, what do
you think about that?
Never going to happen for me.
It might happen for you.
I doubt it, dude.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
I doubt it, I have no
hope.
I don't even want to give youany false hopes.
Supposedly that's the biggestmule deer killed south of the
Grand Canyon in what?
20 years or something.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
That's pretty crazy.
It's so big.
That thing is huge, huge.
That's what she said gotcha,gotcha.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
I just I don't think
that's in the cards for me.
What the deer or no?
Speaker 1 (12:16):
no, neither or
neither.
Or is in the cards.
I mean, dude.
So whenever you walked up tothe mule deer and you first put
your hands on it, you're likeway bigger than I thought.
Really, how far did you shootit?
64 yards With the bow.
What kind of bow do you shoot?
I know he's the Matthews lift.
(12:37):
Oh yeah, matthews, didn't youmiss that thing?
You can't say nothing, darren.
I missed him the day before.
You can't even say nothing.
Whoa alright.
So you shot this buck andmissed him the day before yep
you missed him like three timesI missed him.
I missed him three years in arow.
The first year I missed him.
So when I got out there I wasshooting my bow and we had like
(12:59):
a 30 mile an hour headwind and Iwas shooting HHA.
So I adjusted my sight all upand we finally caught him.
Like the last day I was thereand I snuck in on him, got to 23
yards.
He was in his bed, sound asleep, and I draw back you know
that's supposed to be a chipshot and I drew back, anchored
in and shot like a foot over himat 23 yards.
(13:20):
He jumped up.
He jumped up and almost ran meover when he went by me.
Really, yep.
So the next year we got on himagain.
I think I missed him like threetimes that year, but I never did
get a good opportunity.
The second year and then thisyear I missed him the day before
.
I killed him at 90 yards, butyou know it was low light and
that's.
You know, trying to yard istough.
(13:41):
Yeah, dude, so you.
So you have a history with thisbug.
Oh, yeah, I mean you werechasing them, was he just?
getting bigger and bigger everyyear.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Yeah, you just got
shook up, didn't you?
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Oh, I'd miss that
deer for sure, without a doubt.
I don't know if I'd miss it.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
I've missed it.
It's hard to Focus anddiscipline was something like
this.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
You know you get
nervous, but when you chase
something for so long and youfinally get that opportunity,
it's just a lot of pressure.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Yeah, it is A lot of
people don't understand that.
Of course I don't either.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
And you drive so far.
Yep, it's like so much winningsand money.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
So what?
So, after you missed it there,I mean, how did you deal with
the failure that you've done forthe last three years in a row?
It was tough.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Did you get depressed
?
Yeah, a little bit, I bet youdid.
I did that first year.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
I mean, did you ever
what's going on with me that
first year?
Speaker 1 (14:31):
when he missed it at
20 yards.
He called me on the way homeand he was on suicide watch Was
he?
Speaker 3 (14:35):
I bet he shoot.
What broad is he shooting?
I don, I want to know specificstuff like that.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
It's kind of cool.
Shot him with a Rage hypodermic70-pound draw 80.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
80-pound draw.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
I got a 27-inch draw
link, so I got to get all the
poundage I can get.
I got you, Dude.
That's crazy.
That's awesome, though, thatyou're able to finally catch up
with him and get him on thethird year.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah, that's cool so.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
So what's your goals
this year?
I mean, this is a hard year.
I want to know what your goalsare.
I'm not going to get his buddy200.
Hey, you guys talk about two.
Walk them down.
I'll take a 140, Cody 140?
I'll take a 140.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
I'll take a 130.
You know, we got the Rigging.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Heavy crew coming out
.
I guess I'll just put y'allboys on some.
I think so you got to worryabout us killing them, because
we're going to run it all overthem.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
It'll be fun to look
at.
Give me the next non-killer youshould help.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
I'm gonna apply for
the late season archery next
year in arizona, but I might notget it because I've only got
two points now, so it's a toughstate to get to.
Yeah, I can't do.
I can't do that early huntbecause we're cutting rice at
that time, so there's no way Ican get a september.
So you're ate up with deer, soyou're chasing deer and I mean I
would think after killing a 200inch white tail and a monster,
(16:03):
I'll say a buck of a lifetimedeer.
I mean how do you follow thatup, like, how do you have a
drive to be like, okay, well,I'm going to go out there and
look for a bigger buck than I'vekilled.
I don't know, I hadn't reallythought about it.
I mean I don't plan on doinganything different, just staying
after them, like always.
(16:26):
And I've got two other bucksthat didn't get killed.
That they're, they're over 200,so I'm trying to catch up with.
See, he has a whole card deckin his hand, 200 bucks.
I mean if I seen one, I'd belike much less would I say
anything.
I ain't never seen.
I ain't never seen.
Would you tell me 200?
Would you tell me if you'rechasing?
If I see a 200 inch deer, Iwould tell you.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
I would tell you, I
would definitely tell you, I
would definitely tell you.
Would you tell me if you'rechasing me?
If I see a 200-inch deer, I'mgoing to kill you.
I would tell you, I woulddefinitely tell you, I would
definitely tell you Would youlet me go?
Speaker 1 (16:48):
hunt it yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
One of them's in
Arkansas on public.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
I'll sell you all
that pen.
Really, there's no reason forus to buy that dude.
We would not be able to kill it.
You can tell me where he'ssleeping and I still want to
kill him.
That's funny.
He's going to walk here at 8.30am, at this time, at this place
.
No, if I hadn't been down likethat, if I knew all that info,
he wouldn't be walking around.
You just know he's this.
(17:13):
You just seen him.
How much would you sell thatpen for To the highest bidder?
What do you think that would be, though?
Ideally, if somebody was to buy, what would it be?
I don't know where are yougoing to start it at it?
could be a crazy pin 1500 for meto give that information up, it
would have to be up thereminimum 10 grand, huh, nah,
probably more than that reallyfor you to give a.
(17:35):
So you're just talking aboutwhat?
Is it like potential staterecord type deer, or is it like
is type deer?
I think it is a state record, typical, so highest bidder.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
So 10,000?
10,000 gets the pin.
No, really 15,000?
.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
For a state record.
For a state record For 20,we'll talk 20?
Speaker 3 (17:51):
No wait, all right
for $20,000,.
You going to guarantee the dudedies.
I can't guarantee it.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Well, I mean you.
I can guarantee you'll be inhis neighborhood.
Who else knows he's there?
Probably a lot of people.
I don't live in Arkansas.
I know where he's at, yeah, buthe's safe with you.
Coach's senior track record.
He's senior track record.
He's in here.
That's not my relation in yourhands.
Only way I can kill him is ifit's in a tree.
(18:23):
I got to be in a tree.
I can't get him on the groundbut, y'all don't understand how
stealthy this guy is.
One time we were at the beachand uh, like I tell people this
all the time, he's still 100.
Watch this happen.
There was, we were in the hottub and there was a dove that
landed on the fence beside usand he said I bet I can catch
(18:44):
that dove with my bare hands.
This is a wild dove.
I'm like there ain't no way.
I watched him crawl out of thathot tub, sneak up on that dove
and grab it off the fence.
Yeah, it's a gift, dude.
That's pretty, that's prettyawesome.
I'm serious.
Dove, yeah, what's it what?
And then for the rest of theweek we were trying to catch
birds.
He buried me in the sand, put atowel over my head, dumped a
(19:10):
bunch of cheez-its on me and Istill couldn't catch any of them
.
I still couldn't catch thoseseagulls.
They were landing on my headand I still couldn't catch them.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
I swear y'all made a
game out of that.
Oh my God, that's so funny.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
Imagine being like
somebody on the beach and
watching it go down Like okay, abear at home, cody runs over
there and drops some cheeses.
My buddy's daughter catchesseagulls all the time on the
beach with cheeses, chips orwhatever.
Better than you, she's likestealthy.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Wait a minute.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
How does this?
Speaker 1 (19:46):
happen to be your arm
, we'd like bury him up to his
head and then we'd put like afolding chair over it and just
put Cheetos, like you know, where all you gotta do is arms
would be under a towel and we'dput Cheetos all on the towel and
you know, to come up there, youstill couldn't get it.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
He still couldn't get
it.
They were landing on me.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
What kind of game is
that that's so awesome?
Well, he's just trying to like, catch up to scoreboard.
He's trying to even outscoreboard.
He done caught a wild one withbare hands sneaking up on him.
Sneaking up on him, yeah, Ican't even bait him up and get
him A seagull and a dove's twodifferent animals.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
I know A dove
probably flies faster,
absolutely.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
So how'd you catch
the dove?
I don't know it was raining, Imean your arm moves like this
really slow.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
No, it was like a cat
.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
It was fast.
Oh it was fast.
Like yeah, it was.
Yeah, Wow, it was quick.
Like yeah it was.
It was like you got in placeand you just like pounced on it.
I really don't know why he letme catch him or how I did it,
but he might've been tame.
I don't know that dove was nottame.
I mean, he was definitely usedto people.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
If you tell a hundred peoplethat they're still not.
(21:04):
I can't walk.
150 people on Facebook aregoing to argue about them deer
being big, yeah, yeah.
Well, the thing is like take adeer in the neighborhood, right
People around them all the time, but if you, that deer sees you
like creeping up on it, thatdeer's out of there.
He knows like, okay, this isdifferent.
Same thing goes to him sneakingup on that bird.
That bird's like If he wouldhave seen them, he would have
been out of there.
Pigeons in big cities and stuff.
They let people walk by themall the time.
(21:24):
As soon as you try to grab one, they all ask that's hilarious.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
That's hilarious.
So when you go hunting, youlike to bow hunt mainly.
Yeah that's all I do Bow hunt.
Why you just bow hunt, I don'tknow.
Obviously because you'restealthy.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
So where I live, I
live in like zone four and
there's not much of a gun season, so I just, you know, just
hunting around the house on thefarm.
You know, all I would take wasmy bow, because that's really
all we had.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
I want to ask you
something else.
So do you feel like hunting outwest is easier than Arkansas
because of the way the trees areand the fields?
For sure, yeah, way easier.
Yeah.
So every time we go turkeyhunting we usually do pretty
good because of that, becauseyou know you've got strips of
land, trees, you've got creeks, obviously the deer is going to
(22:09):
be around the edges, you know.
So that does make it a loteasier for people to kill
successful animals.
But you, this is crazy.
Yeah, obviously.
I mean you definitely have agift.
For sure I'm not taking awayfrom that at all.
I don't think I could do that,no, but I still think we should
get Tyler.
I want to see Tyler sneak up onsomething.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Me too.
It's going to have to besomething blind and deaf.
No, no, now Cody's makes sense.
I talked to her on the phoneand I was like I'm ready for
turkey season.
He's like I can't stand aturkey.
Now it makes sense why hedidn't like turkey.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
You don't like
killing turkeys, Tyler.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
I've been with him a
few times and we've shot a few,
but I've never went on like aMidwest turkey hunt where they
act right.
Yeah, I've shot some of thesesuper smart ones around the
house.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
I mean, don't get me
wrong, they were gobbling and
stuff, but I want to go whereit's a little easier, I think.
I think one reason why it'shard to hard, I like, because
they're hard, it's well I thinkone reason why it's hard to hunt
in arkansas is because I thinkeverybody moves around the woods
a lot.
It's pressure.
It's pressure and because, like, you go out west you see the
turkeys right, so you make agame plan.
But here in arkansas we'reconstantly moving and we get
impatient and I think just theturkeys, the turkeys are just so
much smarter in Arkansas.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Everybody's hunting
them too here yeah, every time
every year about when turkeyseason gets here, I'll call Cody
and be like you want to try togo kill a turkey, because I know
I ain't killing him by myself.
I don't know how to do ithonestly, you kill some turkeys
in Arkansas.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
You've done good, oh
yeah, especially kill two.
It's the only place I've everhunted.
Yeah, so you're probably apretty good turkey hunter, you
know.
You start killing birds inArkansas and you go somewhere
else.
It's like it's super easy.
The first time when I stayedturkey hunting I was like this
can't even be turkey hunting now.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
It's hard to Do you.
Turkey hunt a lot.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Do you Mm them?
You don't post them.
Well, that's good.
Out of the wind of the truck,no, out of my trees.
Why would you post that?
Turkey, you've got posts.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
I mean, I post a
couple of them, if you go to my
instagram, there's a couple ofthem posted.
How many turkeys you usuallynormally kill, mark, so you kill
two every year.
I usually just shoot one one onmy own property.
Jake, you shoot turkeys.
No, no, I'd, I'd spring hunt,yeah, spring.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
spring's no good for
me until, or hasn't been for the
past, shoot turkeys, no, no.
Do you hunt?
I hunt, yeah, spring is no goodfor me, or hasn't been for the
past 10 years.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
The past 10 years.
We'll make sure you kill aturkey this spring.
Yeah, I'm good.
I mean, I'm not going to say wekill a ton of turkeys.
You know, I want to go to Texasand kill one.
I'll get you one.
You ain't never killed one, Itell you, I want you.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Never been.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
I'll kill you one
before I kill one.
Do I tell you who really taughtus how turkey hunt?
Because you know we used toturkey hunt a lot in Arkansas
too.
You know, 15 years ago it waspretty easy because there was a
lot of turkeys here.
They used to gobble gobble, gobble gobble gobble.
Season was we started huntingwith Cuz Cuz Outboards.
You know, brandon, he's asuperb turkey hunter, he's good
(25:05):
and he just carries that blindand he's super patient and he'll
go in, he'll get that blind andhe'll kill turkey every time
and that blind.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
If they're not like
that, I can't tell you I can't.
If they're not, I can't tellyou.
I don't care what they're doing.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
No no, no, wait a
minute now.
Now he doesn't just go outthere and sit Now he'll get on a
goblin bird, but he will throwthat blind up Really.
Yes, it increases your chancesof killing a turkey for sure.
Huh, never done it.
I mean, they made a believerout of us.
I don't ever hunt out of ablind.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
I can't do that.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
I think I'm too ADD.
Even when I'm bow hunting, I'mnot using a bond Really.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Yeah Well, you're
just badass.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Well, obviously you
got a gift.
The rest of us areuncategorized people,
individuals.
We got to do other things.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
Yeah, you're like the
super killer, like you're super
quiet, you're listening toeverybody.
You, I shot you without ablonde.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
You can tell that by
the way he talks Without blondes
.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Yeah, dude, he's on
the ground.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Definitely an
overthinker, but I'm also yeah,
you're like, and I use a blackbow, so it's like unreal.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
Yeah, you don't have
to put a face paint on.
I know, dude, I get a black bowand I get in my camouflage.
You're just like nothing, deerhunting.
I couldn't even see up there.
I know he was in the shadow.
That's just how I like to do.
I was like dude, he has a bigadvantage.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
It is Just like Ducca
he really is Well, I mean, it's
a big advantage though that ledhim to what you know what I
mean, what's the big advantagein the tree, help you.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
I mean only gets 10
foot, that's true, that is true.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
He's so scared of
heights man, I was scared of
heights.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Very big deer.
You know, very big deer.
I just don't, I just cannotfathom how you were going to
keep hunting and pushing onafter killing all them deer,
like surely I would be likewhat's next on my bucket list?
You know what I mean.
You know what I mean 200-inchwhite tail.
That's crazy.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
I think he's killed a
big elk.
That's what he's got to do.
I just want to watch him hunt.
I want to kill a bear.
It's like Tyler.
You ever see Tyler Fish?
Yeah, I think you should film.
You need to film something.
I mean, I went fishing withTyler the other day.
He's good now I'm like I wantto sit in that as good as his
and I'll stand right.
He boat flips an 8 pounder on aglide bait and they be like
(27:25):
watching him cast a glide bait.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
You know what I mean.
Like the way he just flops itover.
He's like.
He's not like me.
I have to like aim and shit.
I'm like okay, the live scope'shere, the fish is there.
I'm like give it to him he'sjust like Tyler, I can do this
is old fishing routine.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
The more I hang out
with these guys, the more I
realize I suck at everything.
Tyler pulls it.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
He can pull his bait
like this Dude money, it's an
eight pounder.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
I mean just like no,
you called me, you called me
Exactly.
I remember when y'all wentfishing with Tyler, Y'all you
called me and said, hey, thisdude's flipping five pounders.
Yeah, I'm like.
I remember when y'all wentfishing with Tyler you called me
and said, hey, this dude'sflipping five pounders.
Yeah, I'm like he's doing what?
Back to back he's boat flippingfive pounders.
Are you guys flipping fivepounders?
I'm like, no, he goes.
No, but we're going to start.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
As soon as I watched
him boat flip that bass, I was
like okay.
I was like all right, firststep, catch bass, that's first
step.
Then I got a boat flip, but nomatter how big it is, yeah.
And then I'd never even.
I don't think I didn't get onthe bass until like a couple
hours after that and he's likesix in already.
I'm like this is not good.
We're on the same boat fishing,we got the same spot, so what's
(28:34):
different?
Speaker 3 (28:35):
You got Darbone
messages with these people.
He's a professional bassfisherman, right.
So he texted me and said didyou catch any fish?
I said, yeah, I caught fish, Ijust lied.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
There's no way.
He told me the other day helied.
He straight up lied to youBecause you knew he was going
fishing.
So you followed up with hey, what'd you catch?
And he was like I had to lie.
I just lied I just straight uplied Like wasn't even close, I
didn't catch a single fish, yeah, actually he told me he caught
(29:12):
six, he told me straight up lieLike.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
I lied, lied.
I told Ashley.
I said hey guys, I lied.
I want everybody to know I liedthat way if Tyler asks you lie
with him, I lied.
I said you cannot talk to Tylerabout fishing and say you
didn't catch shit.
Okay, Like either you let himdown.
I said either he gets the hellout of our group text messages
(29:35):
or you know what I'm saying.
It's like this ain't right.
So did you really hang the bigone the other day on Hamilton?
No, I did do.
I did lose the big one.
I wasn't lying, I was down high.
But the other day I did liebecause I wasn't going to tell
Tyler there was a lot of stuffthat wasn't adding up.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
When you started
talking about it, you said there
was floating logs everywhere.
How is he live scoping with anA-rig with trees floating around
?
I know?
Speaker 3 (30:04):
You're out of our
group message.
I can't even lie around, youknow you just can't.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
There's a difference
between, like stretching it.
I've been like you know.
Maybe you caught three fish inthe same.
You caught like five.
That's the difference.
But when you catch nothing, youmanufacture six fish.
It was a serious, dirty ass lie.
I had about 10 pounds too.
Yeah, I did, that's a 10 lie.
And then he told me he hadabout 10 pounds too.
Yeah, I did, that's a 10 pounds.
That's a two-stage lie.
It's like how many you got, lie, and then how much they weighed
(30:27):
.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
It makes it more
legal to ask him how big they
were.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
He just threw that
out there.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Well, I knew it was
going to be a lie.
You knew it was guilty there.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
I didn't want to give
too much information because I
knew I, so I was like 10 pounds, how many fish is?
Speaker 3 (30:46):
that that's never a
whole number either.
Yeah, it costs a little dinks, never a whole number, yeah.
So anyways, yeah, it was hardbeing friends with a
professional bass fisherman, youknow, especially when you get
all the cool shit.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
I get all the cool
shit, because he feels guilty in
a way like I have too nice ofshit here to not catch nothing.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Yeah, I got a 22 inch
screen on my damn boat.
22 inch screen.
I can't catch fish, I just wantto get fishing, you know.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
It's time.
I mean, it's not time Now I'mlike I want to kill a big deer.
What?
Speaker 2 (31:11):
about y'all.
Unfortunately now I have adesire to do that too.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
I can't do that the
season about not being able to
sneak up on deer.
I can't fish, I can't fish.
I took him fishing.
We fished a tournament lastyear and, believe it or not, we
weighed two fish that he caught.
But both times he's like I'mhung, go back there and get me,
I'm hung.
And then I look out the backand there's a five pounder just
jumping out of the water.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
Like like he was hung
on a bass both times.
Oh my god, he thought he washung in the tree, yeah.
Yeah, when you get this guy ina group message, you know he's
gonna ask you what you've seenor it's gonna be awkward.
Dude.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Yeah, I know yeah,
you got experts.
Don't text me about no deer.
I know it makes you feel likeyou don't know what you're doing
, because we don't know whatwe're doing no, but we felt
better about not knowing whatwe're doing before, these two
convinced me to sit in the treeall day too.
I've never done that in mywhole life, until I start
hunting with them.
They're like dude we just onemore hour?
no, we do kill he's like dude ifyou sit 30 more minutes and I'm
(32:13):
like I'm always wishful we dokill some good, you know, we do
kill stuff, just Nothing likethat.
No, no, no, no I will say I'mtalking from the wrong area,
though yeah, you know what Imean.
We're in the right area now.
Ten years, like me and him havebeen hunting in the Midwest
together.
Like the first year, like thefirst couple years, like our
goal was like we got to kill it140.
(32:33):
If we kill it 140 every year, like that all day, like we'd
hunt all day, now he won't evenbat an eye at a 140.
And like we went, I went toIllinois this year and I stayed
for a week and he drove aroundfor five days looking like it,
(32:55):
did not get on the stand and uh,like I, I felt like I wasn't
doing nothing.
So like I just went and sat onthe stand and I wasted a bunch
of time and the day I left hekilled like a I don't doing
nothing.
So like I just went and sat onthe stand and I wasted a bunch
of time and the day I left hekilled like a.
I don't know that, I guess it'dbe the one that you shot on the
shotgun hunt or whatever 55.
Yeah, well, I mean, that's whatyou gotta do.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
I mean you gotta, you
gotta drive around find the
deer.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
If you got the time,
you know to put yourself in the
right place at the right time, that's one thing.
But then knowing, like, how toset up on that deer, yeah is, uh
is huge too, because I don'tknow how to do it like I've
tried, I've not just once, likemultiple times you gotta watch
the deer watch, learn the deer.
Yeah, just getting eyes on himis the main thing, if you can
ever catch him out, you know, pushing a doe to a little head
(33:40):
or something that's that'soverhanging.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
You're like super
excited.
He's killing these big deer.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
You got super excited
, yeah if you think about it,
though, like like, there was anold guy that we hunted with in
illinois a few first few yearswe went up there.
He shot burners every singleyear, and half the deer he
killed was on the ground walkingback walking to or back.
So like that opened up like awhole new window for me and for
(34:06):
us, like you don't really haveto do that.
And then you know the guys atWhitetail, adrenaline Chancey
Walters he's a big fisherman.
He came and stayed like andfished with me for a week Like
he is an incredible hunter.
You need to watch this stuff.
They do nothing but hunt on theground in public and they shoot
humongous deer and that's, Ithink, kind of what you know
(34:27):
started our ground journey.
Really I just I wasted a lot ofseasons, you know, hunting a
buck that you know I'd get apicture of at midnight once a
week.
You know you sit there allseason and then if you do get
eyes on him he walks by at 90yards, whereas you know, if you
just stay, burn the roads up andcatch him with a doe somewhere,
you know, move in on him.
(34:48):
I just feel like it's moreefficient.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
Yeah, for sure it
makes sense.
You proved it yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
My ears are turning
right now.
I'm thinking I've done thiswrong my whole life.
Think about how many timesyou've walked, but it's a lot
harder to do, like in down here, like in the pinewoods, oh
absolutely, I mean you can't seedriving around down here.
I mean you could, it couldhappen, I mean you could do it,
but your chances of doing itversus where, and that's the
reason why turkey hunting is sohard, because you just can't see
the turkeys.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
They can see you wait
before you, so Didn't he get
too close.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
So you said that
started the journey of crown
hunting.
You're a little bit furtherbehind.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
I'm still behind.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
I know how to do it,
I just can't do it you know what
I mean.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
We should have like
an academy or something where
we're like a hunting academy,where you learn.
You need to be taught.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
I feel like it's,
like it's my patience.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
Can we do a show on
that?
We need, to like, put Tylerthrough a boot camp this year.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Cody dropped me off
on like a 160, probably 165 that
we saw, I got an idea.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
Guys, we're going to
go out, we're going to get
binoculars, we're going to puthim out in the field and he's
get to us.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
I can get close to
him, but when I when I do get
close to him, that's when I dropthe ball what did you get?
nervous.
No, it's like he'll, just heruns out of patience.
Like he'll, he'll get to wherehe needs to be and you know,
instead of you might have to siton that deer for hours waiting
on him to stand up and give youa shot or something.
And he, 30 minutes in, he'stexting me.
He's like I'm shaking out ofhis head.
I got to try this thing on thework.
(36:24):
I need to try something.
He's over there like I've beenwhistling for the last 20
minutes.
He hasn't stood up yet.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
That would be nerve
wracking.
Well, he just gets the patience.
He's sitting on his kneeswaiting.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
I mean, and then I
mean you think about it this
time, and he gets up and walksthe other way you have.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
no, you can't.
I mean, what are you going tosay?
You just screwed up, you justgot to be patient.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
You got to be,
patient.
I have to learn the hard wayfirst.
Are you learning, though?
I mean, I don't have theconfidence to kill him the way
I'm obviously doing it, so I'mgoing to have to change
something.
I've tried so many.
I'll say this Like the lastfive deer he's went after, he's
killed.
The last 10 deer I've wentafter I've not even shot at,
besides that one I shot threefoot under.
(37:13):
I got to watch you do this.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
For sure, we got to
watch you do this.
This is a whole.
We got to film this.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Unfortunately, it's
the very end of deer season.
How are you?
Speaker 3 (37:22):
going to get all of
us to kill a big deer, Like that
is your new challenge.
We can do it.
You just thought killing bigdeers.
You just put it all on this andthen it's going to be hard.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
I mean, I'm just
going to assume here which I
might be wrong, but I'm going togo ahead and say that probably
stealth level, probably not thathigh.
It's got to be better thanTyler.
I don't know.
I don't know, I can't eventouch my toes.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
I got to start
stretching If it's tall grass.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
Tim got an advantage
though, yeah, but hey the tall
grass will get you, because whenthe deer stands up, if you're
not tall, you can't see hisbottles.
I've ran into that.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
You got to carry a
step stool with you.
That's how tall are you 5'8",5'7".
Speaker 1 (38:12):
That one inch gets
you so when you're sneaking up,
are you just like crouch walking?
Are you like crawling, likewhatever?
If I have to swim, I will Gollywhat.
There's a difference.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
That's the split in
the highway that takes you from,
like everybody else to you.
Have you swam before?
Is that?
Speaker 3 (38:31):
what you're saying.
I would, darryl, have you everswam?
Yeah, not for no, deer, okay.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
He had to swim out of
that creek he ran into a few
years ago.
Yeah, I remember that.
I know the perfect camera guyto send with you on one of these
talks.
That's really up for it, david, david, david loves a deer hunt.
Yep, we went through a littlesketchy place when we was
hunting in northwest Missouriand he had a really good time
there.
He's really maneuverable, youknow he's short, he's small,
(38:59):
he's short he's small, he'scompact.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
Yeah, david, he
filmed me killing my deer and he
was shaking so bad.
The tree was shaking.
Whatever dude it was, that wasyour heart, that was your
breathing.
I wasn't even nervous.
David was shaking the wholetree.
I bet I'm like dude, you'removing my pins.
You know what's funny?
I watched Grayson swim theother day.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
This is Cody's maybe
thing.
So Mason was swimming for ducks, not on purpose, not on purpose
, I told him.
I just tried to walk acrossthere and I'm like it's too deep
and I backed up.
He walks up five more yards andtries it again.
They say he's just here it wasdark.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
It was dark.
Such a look he's like are youguys glad duck season's over?
Yes, but it's just funny, weget to the hole, he's like.
He tells calls Tyler.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
Imagine if it was for
a swim For no reason, For no
reason, no reason.
That's the worst part.
And I just told him there was afootbridge up there that we
could probably cross.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
I always fall in the
water.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
Duck hunting's one of
those things where it's going
to happen eventually.
If you go out there around inwater, you're going to
eventually go in.
Usually I am that guy thatfalls, but I did not fall one
time this year, if I went more,I'd fall the most, I promise you
.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
I went stealth mode.
I mean, do you like duckhunting, just what you do?
No, not that much.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
So you're like if you
had to do one thing the rest of
your life.
I don't even really fish Deerover turkey, though.
Oh yeah, yeah, I feel liketurkey.
It's like you kill one.
You've killed them all in a way.
Not as bad as like duck isDuck's really bad.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
I mean you kill one.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
You've killed them
all for the most part.
I mean, you're not going aftera trophy.
Like deer is like okay, there'sa big difference between an 85
inch deer.
Is that what you say?
That's where I'm at right now.
I haven't seen any of them.
Spikes score 85.
He's adding them all together,I know that's net, that's net.
(40:51):
Yeah, that's funny yeah, well, well, jake, I don't even know
what to say about that that'spretty spot on.
I killed a doe oh, killed a doe.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
I zeroed, I zeroed, I
zeroed.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
God we didn't deer
hunting more than all of this.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
My kids hunt.
See, now, that's true.
I promise as soon as Briggs isof age to be able to hunt, it's
way more exciting.
I won't be able to kill nothing.
It doesn't kill everything.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
So you don't deer
hunting, or what?
How old are you?
I'm 31.
Wow, you ain't taking nochances.
Speaker 1 (41:25):
No, he ain't killed
all the giants he wants to kill
yet.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
You think that's
going to slow you down?
Ain't nobody told you youcouldn't go hunting?
Like, if it ever like say, youdid find a woman, right, you
found what you believe is theideal woman, and then as soon as
the next deer season comes up,she starts like kind of pumping
her brakes, like, oh, what ifyou didn't go?
That's it.
She's probably not the rightone, she's gone, she's out of
there.
You're not even taking a chancethough.
I've seen them, I've seen himgo through them.
(41:50):
They don't make.
I've not seen one make it adeer season yet.
Really, they usually make itabout the till November.
They just because he does notcome home, like after harvest,
he does.
How many days do you think youwere home between November 1st
and January?
Speaker 2 (42:12):
none, not many, just
when we were hauling rice.
Speaker 1 (42:14):
I came home.
I came home first of Decemberto haul rice, but that was maybe
like 10 days.
Speaker 3 (42:18):
You just stayed gone
the whole time, so ain't no
woman gonna put up with that whynot take you on the whole time?
Speaker 1 (42:22):
So ain't no woman
going to put up with that,
unless she hit the road with you.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
You don't want to do
that either.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
I might have to find
one that hunts.
The thing is that sucks too ina way.
In a way I mean Well, I meanunless she's good, I mean it
doesn't, but it does in the same.
Obviously you don't want her.
See, that's what he's trying toavoid, that's why he's not
going that route.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
That's true too,
because I always make sure
Ashley kills before I.
Do you feel like you have to?
Yeah, I always take care of her, so do you you feel like you
have to.
Speaker 1 (42:52):
I remember you had
that one girlfriend that wanted
to shoot that deer behind yourhouse and you ended up.
I was nervous because that'sthe one I was supposed to get to
shoot she's got somethingthat's convincing.
I's got something that'sconvincing.
I don't think she's the onedude.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
I think you need to
get rid of that I probably did.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
They did.
She's wanting to shoot mytarget buck at your house with
the girls, with the girls he can.
He can take them in on thoselow percentage days, you know.
Just to say you know, yeah, youknow, you know they're not
gonna get one.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Yeah, still take them
anyway.
So you have a plan for that.
Oh yeah, oh my God.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
He picks their days
out specifically When's wrong
we're going to blow all the wayaround.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
You're terrible.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
You can't be the only
person that does that, though I
mean to be honest Definitelynot.
Obviously, they're not going toweather the storm, the whole
year.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
You know what I mean.
I was talking to a customer onetime.
He was taking his wife duckhunting and he said I'm going to
take her through the rougheststuff ever that way she don't
want to come back Breaking herother.
And by God he did.
I said dude, you're horrible.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
That's pretty bad.
I mean, honestly, that sucks.
That poor see, I wouldn't beable to do that because there's
no way.
I want to do it myself, sothere's no way I'm going to make
you do it.
Yeah, that's terrible.
Bring her on one hunt.
To cut off, I say that therewas a girl that walked in front
of me almost the whole way whenwe hunted that last one.
Yeah, but I saw her coming outand she was not doing well
(44:13):
really.
Yeah, she looked like she hadbeen through on the bike.
No, she didn't have a bike.
I said you should have gave heron her bike.
Oh no, oh my God.
Speaker 2 (44:24):
We were going
opposite ways.
Speaker 1 (44:26):
It wouldn't have
worked out.
Oh my God, he's like this dudeis brutal.
He's not taking no chances, dude which?
Makes sense you make sacrificeshere, you know obviously to
help you here, I mean, it's paidoff, you got some big bucks.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
He's hanging with a
chick Big deer.
Walks out, he throws her to thefloor, says you're shooting
this deer, get out of here.
Speaker 1 (44:49):
He wasn't supposed to
show up today.
That's how we're with.
I don't know why this deer'shere, but you're not shooting it
.
I guarantee you're not shootingit right now.
That's what he tells me.
Every time he's got a big oneliving behind his house, I'm
like let me go shoot him.
He's like, oh, he needs onemore year.
I've been seeing this deer forseven years.
He's told me one more year forseven years.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
That's terrible.
He might not put us on deer.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
Something, yeah, he's
going to do the same shit to us
.
Yeah, the best thing we can getout of it is we can watch how
he does it he's like ah, tim, Idon't think that's the one dude.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
He's nine years old.
I mean, he's going down, he'sgoing way down.
So if somebody watches thispodcast and they want to learn
how to shoot big deer, whatwould you recommend?
Speaker 1 (45:36):
where do you start in
a state that has big deer?
Great answer we've solved thatourselves, actually.
Speaker 3 (45:44):
Yeah, that's the
first step.
Speaker 1 (45:45):
That's the first step
for sure.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
So once you go to a
state that has deer, then what?
Speaker 1 (45:50):
You got to lock down
some properties, yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:53):
Yep, and you got to
study them.
Yep, you got to be patient.
How big a property do you?
Speaker 1 (45:56):
think it's in.
You got to run like 100 camerasand you know you got to go all
out I mean the more cameras, themore you know likelihood you
find it'll be easier to go after.
Speaker 3 (46:05):
So you run 100
cameras so I run 100 plus so you
keep them one big box, or Imean, how do you?
Yeah, my garage is full ofstuff, my bad.
So what is your monthly bill oncameras?
Speaker 1 (46:17):
that's just something
you don't really look at.
Six seven hundred eight hundreddollars a month.
I bet it's more than $800.
It's about $14 a camera.
I'd say it's somewhere between$400 and $1,000.
Somewhere in that range.
God man, I'll do the math.
They are $15.
They're $15 a month $15 a monthis a lot better.
The Cobras are more expensive.
Oh, I got tacticade, butthey're on the three-month plan
(46:40):
now.
Like $15 for three months, Imean three months About $500 a
month.
It's $1,500.
That'd be $1,500 if it was only$100.
He's got $100 plus God.
$1,500 for three months.
That's for three months.
Yeah, so you're looking atroughly $500 a, I think the
(47:04):
battery.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
I hear the battery
bill is worse than yeah, oh,
yeah, dude, it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (47:07):
Oh, the battery.
Will you're saying, how muchtime would you spend going
around changing, like once itgets cold and the batteries
don't last as long?
Well, I run 99 of them onscrapes, so they'll pretty much
last that three months becauseI'll put them out first of
October.
Speaker 3 (47:20):
So you run, so you
keep an eye on the scrape lines.
Oh yeah, that's the key Noted.
Speaker 2 (47:27):
I ain't gonna help
you knowing.
Speaker 1 (47:29):
I can find a scrape.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
A scrape this size
B-Skye, it's not good enough.
You gotta have big ones, bigscrapes.
So do you look for aggressivescrapes, Like Big scrapes, so do
you look for aggressive scrapes.
Speaker 1 (47:43):
I mostly just look
for the licking branch above it,
not so much on the ground.
What do you mean, lickingbranch?
If that branch above thatscrapes tore up and broke up
hanging down, that's usuallyhe's ripping it up.
It's usually getting hit bymultiple bugs, dude.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
So if you see a
scrape and you don't see any
kind of destruction above it.
You're gonna move on.
I'm walking past it.
Yeah, I got you.
That's smart man, and you'velearned that by killing big deer
and running 100 plus cameras, you know for the past 15 years.
So what's crazy to rub lineslike.
What about rub lines like Idon't see a good catching the
rubs, you don't?
Speaker 1 (48:20):
I think a lot of
that's just like know a buck's
got a doe locked down andanother buck comes in there, you
know he's going to go overthere and hit a hit a rub, you
know, just to show aggression.
I think that's where a lot ofyour scrapes come in too.
Really, yep Over to you.
Wouldn't you agree that most oflike the best scrapes are in
the same spots every year too?
(48:41):
Oh, yeah, like same tree, samespot.
Yeah, like every year.
So like the biggest here on theproperty is probably going to
hit that scrape, yeah, and thattruly goes for everywhere.
What about?
Speaker 3 (48:52):
what about size?
What about the size of thescrape?
Does that matter?
I don't think so, really.
Yeah, what about how they digthe scrape out Like a deep
scrape?
That don't matter either.
I don't think so.
Well, geez, well, he's nothunting.
Who's he shooting?
I mean, you know, because somepeople say, oh, this is a really
big scrape, this must be a bigdeer, but that's not the case.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
Your most productive
scrapes too.
They'll be hitting thesummertime a lot too, what?
That's where I get a lot ofvelvet pigs, what All right, I'm
going to so when does it startfor you?
I'm going to find the generalExactly.
I'll start putting cameras outin August, but I won't put my
bulk out until like the first ofOctober.
Speaker 3 (49:28):
What do you think?
Scrapes in the summertime?
Speaker 1 (49:30):
After that first cold
front hits, like at late summer
, it seems like they starthitting them, start making them
huh, I mean year-round.
That's their main way ofcommunicating is hitting those
licking branches.
Speaker 3 (49:42):
But not so much the
scrapes, though those branches
would still be there, though.
Speaker 1 (49:47):
Oh yeah, I got you.
Speaker 3 (49:51):
Okay, I got you now.
So the scrapes I mean likesummertime you're not really
looking for scrapes.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
I'm not looking at
the ground at all.
Speaker 3 (49:57):
I'm looking at that
branch above it when the scrape
is going to be Yep at all I'mlooking at that branch above it
when the scrape is going to be.
Speaker 1 (50:02):
Yep, that's one
scrape.
You got a camera on the road.
That'd probably be a good one.
Yeah, they hit it all the timeAll the time, so I got it.
And most of the times thosescrapes are going to be at like
intersections or just hightraveled areas.
You know that they use.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
That makes sense.
They all do all season they'rewalking home down the road.
Yeah, and they hit that branchright above it every time, yeah,
so when you walk into the woodsor you walk into your area
because you know mature bucksusually use the same area so I
mean, when you see something, this must be a good buck.
I mean, what is that sign?
Usually just the information.
What gets you excited, Like yousee something, like oh, this is
(50:40):
a shooter.
Speaker 1 (50:41):
Usually just
information from the year before
.
Like every year, I'm goingafter a specific buck and you
know I usually have years ofhistory with him.
I got you.
I'll just apply that.
You know that info that I gotthe year before.
Speaker 3 (50:53):
So the most important
thing is your information, your
intel, right.
Then you start looking at thesmall stuff like licking
branches, stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (51:05):
But the most
important part is patience.
For sure, do you look?
Speaker 3 (51:08):
at topos.
Oh yeah, yeah, topos isimportant.
Yep Topos, yeah, topos isimportant too.
Speaker 1 (51:13):
But most of the
properties I hunt, you know it's
my.
I've been hunting them forseveral years so I've got them
dialed.
I mean the deer are going touse them the same way every year
.
You know you might tell her, kill one, then I'll do kill him.
He does kill, just don't killhim on the ground.
He does kill him.
He's like a hundred percent thepast five years.
You know one and done on a 160plus yeah you killed good dude
(51:36):
this year.
Yeah, I shot like a 167 thisyear.
Usually I kill two good ones ayear, but after I shot that one
this year I kind of got into theduck hunting stuff a little
harder than normal.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
But now your fishing
season is about to kick in.
Now you got to go fishing.
So where are you going fishing?
Speaker 1 (51:50):
You said you got a
tournament, where Lake Toho down
just a little south of Orlandoin Florida.
Speaker 3 (51:55):
Yeah, we have like a
pontoon with like 300s on it.
I think we're going to gofollow you around and cook and
cheer you on.
You know, can we do that?
Follow me, it'd be frowned upon.
Speaker 1 (52:07):
It would only be
frowned upon if you were like
fishing around me.
Oh okay, all right, that'sfunny.
It's like you see me catch one.
You're like, as soon as I leave, like he like ease, over there
trying to get another one.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
You see all those
tournaments and you got your fan
base out there watching fishyeah that's what we're talking
about.
Speaker 1 (52:24):
We ain't talking
about fishing here, we're
talking about just chilling.
We can go out there and be ohno, it's not a big deal to chill
.
But the fan base, like in thefishing industry, is like for
the Red Crest and maybe, likethe Bassmaster Classic, have a
lot of spectators and stuff.
Yeah, like it.
It's not like it was in the olddays, like even like for the
leaders.
You don't have many spectatorsout there just watching and then
(52:46):
other boats and stuff but mostof the time I see it on tv you
know it's changed, because noweverything's live stream.
That is true, yeah, everythingis streamed.
Now you can watch it you don'thave to actually make a trip.
Watch you, watch it too.
I've had a live camera in myboat.
Yeah, uh, probably four or fivedays last year, right, you,
ever you get.
Does it make you nervous havinga live camera there?
(53:07):
Mm, I mean not really.
You gotta really watch what yousay.
Yeah, for sure, especially whenthey turn you on live.
Yeah, do you have any momentswhere, like no it, no, good, no,
I mean what do you do, believeit or not?
The camera guys are like reallycool, you know what I mean?
And just, they're just like hey, will your fix go up?
Yeah, they're like hey, uh,you're about to be live they
(53:28):
would hate to get me live.
Speaker 3 (53:30):
There's no telling
what I would say.
You know I'd probably get fired.
Speaker 1 (53:34):
Yeah, that doesn't
need to happen you don't need it
, you're not a live kind of guy,I'm not you're an edited and
cut.
You're a tough post-productionI am.
Speaker 3 (53:44):
Every time I mention
something about live,
everybody's like.
You're doing good that we letyou have Facebook.
I am.
I am back on.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
Facebook.
When I get bored at home and Ijust want to laugh, I just go
get on that Arkansas Tillerhandle page and I go for Tim's
comments, I'll be wearing themout.
Speaker 3 (54:02):
Huh, some people's
like man, I'm so glad you're
back.
I'm thinking I'm not glad I'mback, I could be doing something
else.
Megan Tiller page great again.
Do you guys think?
You think my comments onFacebook's a little extreme
sometimes?
Speaker 1 (54:16):
No, I like them.
I mean, like I said, it'sfilled with common sense.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
Like I said, it's
filled with common sense.
Speaker 1 (54:19):
You let people get
under your skin too easy.
What do you mean?
You can just tell Like here'smy number.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
Call me right now.
Hey, do you know how manypeople actually call me?
Very little, yep, I imaginethat's a proven fact.
I mean, they're warriors.
Yeah, I mean I put my numberout there.
This is talk.
They won't call me.
One guy did, though, but youknow, it's good.
You know a lot of people got myphone number, and I don't mind
talking most of the times if Isay something's gonna be true.
(54:47):
I mean, I'm not lying aboutfishing, you know.
I did lie about fishing, youknow, but my buddy's also a
professional bass fisherman.
Come on, you gotta lie.
Yeah, I'm not gonna be cool tohim if I don't catch any fish.
That's true, that is right.
I don't want to go fish withtim.
You don't catch no fish tim Igo all the time and don't catch
him.
You don't tell me that it makesme feel better.
Speaker 1 (55:08):
I've never heard of
that.
I brought fincher before wehadn't caught him.
Really, when I don't everremember you, see you're lying
to me.
Speaker 3 (55:14):
You're trying to make
me feel bad he's lying about
not catching fish.
Speaker 1 (55:17):
You're lying about
catching.
You're such a nice guy.
It's a mustache.
I think that's the key to thefishing.
Yeah, I think the shoes is thekey to the deer hunting.
Speaker 3 (55:28):
That's what I think
really is going on.
Well, you could definitely tell.
I mean you're just a verysecretive, quiet person.
I mean you're a natural killerfor sure.
Speaker 1 (55:38):
Like.
You're on the watch listwithout a doubt With shoes,
shoes like that, the demeanoryou have.
You're probably on two or threeof them definitely on the watch
list I'm not gonna mentionwhich list, but I know he's on,
I know which.
Speaker 3 (55:51):
This is when we go
hunting with him, we're gonna be
so nervous.
I'm not gonna stack up goodwith this guy, I know so.
Do you sense or anything likethat when you hunt?
No do you wash your clothes andI used to, but since I started,
you know, mostly doing theground game, I kind of just
don't worry it really doesn'tmake no sense, because if if you
(56:12):
use sense, I mean I guess, across scent, you know, if you
put some scent out there and getdeer crossing, it maybe would
be.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
I mean, I guess, if
you're stalking, you're going to
to definitely be playing thewind, you're going to be playing
everything, right.
So why?
Speaker 1 (56:24):
worry about it and
you move.
Speaker 3 (56:27):
So do you think the
scent industry is just a gimmick
?
I'd say a lot of it is.
I think so too, because youstill got to hunt the wind and
what's up with the damn scents.
If you got to hunt the windanyway, it ain't like they gonna
come behind you, but you knowthey're gonna smell you, no
matter what you got out there.
(56:47):
Oh yeah, if you use too muchscents.
Speaker 1 (56:49):
It's not natural.
No, you know, I don't know whatpeople put it like.
If it helps you one percent, then it's helping and it might
make a difference.
But I mean how much percentageof effort you putting in that
make sure you get that onepercent.
You know, I think that deer cansmell so good too that I think
they can actually break downthat stuff and they can smell
something that's not right.
Speaker 3 (57:07):
Absolutely.
I mean you put too much scentout there or put the wrong scent
out there.
I mean I got better.
I think I got a higher chanceof screwing stuff up by using
scent.
If I don't use scent, I thinkso too.
Yeah.
So you know, just play the wind, be patient and kill you a deer
.
You know Well, I'll tell youone thing.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
I'm pumped up to go
deer hunting and it's a horrible
time to do it.
You know what I mean.
He definitely motivates you.
Well, I ain't never seen somany big bucks in my life, and
just your season score.
Speaker 3 (57:37):
I just can't wait to
get a picture of one of the big
racks and put it on Facebook.
They are going to love thisshit.
Speaker 1 (57:40):
I know Like if dad
would have posted that, that 200
inch book right there.
They said it's no more than oneone, 58.
We're actually going to do thattoday.
Speaker 3 (57:48):
And it was a high
finish.
Speaker 1 (57:49):
I didn't say 58.
And it's going to be high fence, I know?
No, I said that's the one 58you were talking about.
Speaker 3 (57:54):
I'm going to take and
say, hey, guess the score with
B Scott's tape measure.
Speaker 1 (58:01):
Yeah, hashtag B
Scott's tape measure it's crazy
the amount of scores ofprofessional scores there is on
Facebook.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
It's amazing how
everybody on Facebook is
professional at something.
Yeah, you know, I'm a boatbuilder.
I've been building boats sinceI was 17 years old 18 years old
and they're like I don't knowwhat the hell I'm talking about.
I'm like okay, it's amazing,it's a different world now.
Speaker 1 (58:26):
Everybody's a pro at
something.
You work on your own bows, mybows, or boats, bows, bows.
No, I thought you said bows, noboats.
We do work on boats though.
Yeah, we work on boats.
I knew that, still working onit.
Speaker 3 (58:39):
Always my bows.
No, no, no, I won't touch thatthing.
Speaker 1 (58:42):
I can barely shoot
straight as it is my bow guy
quit me this year, so I don'tknow what I'm going to do for
next year.
He shut down, what All right.
Speaker 3 (58:50):
So you're talking
about working on your bows.
What do you do to your bow?
Speaker 1 (58:53):
You talking about
paper tuning?
Yeah, just wondering.
No, it definitely wasn't mybow's fault that I missed.
Oh really, it probably was youshould have waited.
Speaker 3 (59:07):
You just started a
new practice.
Speaker 1 (59:08):
Dude, you have a Hoyt
.
I ain't seen him kill nothing,I'm just telling you.
Speaker 3 (59:12):
All you got to do is
get close, but you haven't seen
him miss either.
Speaker 1 (59:16):
That is true.
That is true.
All you got to do is get closeto that, hoy, he did drop it out
of a tree.
This year, though, I did dropit out of a tree twice.
He got all the way up in histree and just straight up
dropped it out of the tree, hedropped it twice All the way to
the bottom.
Speaker 3 (59:29):
You should go fishing
with him.
He breaks poles too.
Speaker 1 (59:41):
He's still got the
boat that I sold last week it is
not.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
It's not.
Speaker 3 (59:47):
I checked, good lord
no, no, no, my bass, his bass,
oh shit so you did sell yourbass boat.
Yeah, when's your new?
Speaker 1 (59:55):
boat come in,
hopefully tomorrow, the next day
.
Are you ready to get it?
I'm just ready to get it andget it rigged, because I leave
on the 15th, which is nextSaturday.
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
You don't have a boat
.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
I'm going to have to
break my boat in at the
tournament.
Wow, dude, that sucks.
Do you have time to wrap it?
How many hours is that?
I'm probably not going to havetime to wrap the boat.
I've got the truck wrapped, soI'll get the boat wrapped when I
come back.
Well, that's actually might bekind of cool too, cause, like
then, people won't be.
You can kind of just sneakstuff at practice.
People don't follow me around.
(01:00:29):
It don't make a difference.
Why is that Well said, I don'tknow they ain't worried about
where I'm fishing Really.
Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
Until you win.
Yeah, until you win.
They're definitely gonna bethinking about it.
It's gonna be on their mind.
Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
Well, I mean, I don't
know, you know what's weird.
It's like at that level youdon't really have people like
looking to see who's where.
You know what.
I mean Everybody does their ownkind of, does their own thing.
They're all professionals.
I mean, they're all good.
The stuff where you run intothat is more like at a local
level or just like out playingon the lake.
(01:01:07):
You know midweek Be sitting onsomewhere catching some fish,
and then you come back and youknow a boat you saw drop by will
be sitting there, like when wewere at Darbo.
Yes, yes, that happens.
There's more stuff that happensat the local level and like
there's more drama in localtournaments than there is in pro
tournaments 100%.
Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
I can see that.
Yeah, I can see that too.
People follow me around thelake.
You know my boat.
I'm like dude, you're followingthe wrong boat, dude, that's.
Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
You're wasting your
time.
Yeah, don't follow him.
Yeah, catch six imaginary bass, that yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
Catch six imaginary
bass in 10 minutes.
That's only for.
Do you lie to them too?
That's only for certain people.
Okay, all right, not everybodyhas a professional bass
fisherman as a friend.
That's true, you know.
That's pretty steep competitionit is, you know.
I think you'd take him.
Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
No bullshit.
Hey, we do got a fishtournament a little hey, A
little hey, and I think whatwould be fun- Only way I'm going
to fish against him if he turnshis transducer upside down on
his last go.
I think what we do is you giveme a Barbie pole, all right, let
me fish the tournament, likewe're going to have to team up,
but you give me, like you don'ttake away my transducer.
Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
No, no, no, we're
putting your transducer on the
back of your boat pointingtowards the back.
You've got to cast from thefront of the boat to the back of
your boat, to the back of theboat.
Yeah, you're going to have todrive your trolling motor
backwards a lot.
Who's on Tyler's team?
That's the real thing.
Speaker 1 (01:02:29):
Me, me.
I call it nose goes, nose goes.
No, I could definitely takeTyler.
I don't learn everything.
I need to see that one time wewere with him.
Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
So we're going to
have like a hunting.
We need to have a hunting.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
I mean Tyler is a
good fisherman.
No, he is, he is, he is.
I could take Tyler Dude.
What's up, daryl, on what?
Speaker 3 (01:02:51):
On shaking hand on
fishing.
Speaker 1 (01:03:02):
You know what I'm
shaking hand on?
I'm out.
Or if I ain't lucky, I'd say,tyler, own a lake that I know.
Speaker 3 (01:03:05):
I think he's gonna
chop you up.
We'll put some money on it.
What you money you wanna put onit?
I gotta, I gotta, benjamin, youand Tyler, you and Tyler, you
pick the lake.
I know where I'm going fourhours.
Speaker 1 (01:03:15):
I know where I'm
going.
Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
I know, you gotta go
right now.
Oh, right now.
Oh, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
I'm not a scaper.
You pick the place, you pickthe time and we'll put money on
it and we'll go 100.
100 on both of you.
Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
So no, we'll do it
more, we'll do 500.
Speaker 1 (01:03:33):
No, I ain't taking
time for that.
I'm not taking time for Okay,$500 it is.
He just spoke $500.
You pick the place and the dayand whatever.
Four hours of fishing, fourhours of fishing $500.
I want in on this.
All right, I got $150.
You want in on the bet, not thefishing part of the bet?
All right, so it may grow.
(01:03:55):
What lake are we going?
What lake are we going?
That's up to you.
Dude, I said place and day.
I know where I'm going.
You better not say it right now.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
I know I'm going to
be crying Every day He'll be on.
Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
Google Earth.
He'll be on Google Earth likein the 1940s.
It'll be everything about it.
I'll be like Tyler you need towake up from your house at 3
o'clock because I know exactlywhere you live.
Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
And then I'll drop
Like something like D-Grey or
something, Something that's not.
Oh heck, no See.
Speaker 1 (01:04:21):
I already know where
Daryl's going to go.
There's only two places you'renot going to be able to go in.
We need to go somewhere wherethere's big fish.
Now Like we can't go to.
Speaker 2 (01:04:30):
Ouachita or.
Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
Hamilton.
I mean there's big fish there,but like I don't, those highland
reservoirs are not fun to fish.
Speaker 3 (01:04:35):
I'm not sure At all.
I wonder if we can flip Bush'sOkay, I don't know where we're
going to go Bowl down to Bussywe're not going there.
No, you don't want to go toBussy, no, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
That's in his
backyard.
Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
I was born in the
night, still yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
You have probably
fished Bussy more than me.
Bussy's hard to fish man, hardto fish man.
I do have a fair chance atBussy.
I say that you, I did have achance.
I did have the late recordthere for a year, though.
See what was the late record?
It was 12.9 or 12.7.
God See, the thing about Bussyis.
See, that's crazy.
Anybody can win.
We can all fish in our ownboats and anybody can win.
Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
You know a big bass,
I get the shakes man.
It breaks me down, dude.
I'll be sitting on my frontdeck, my knees be shaking.
Oh my God, see, that's.
Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
It breaks me down,
that's how I knew the story
about the five-pounder the otherday was real, because you were
telling me you were shaking.
Yeah, so I knew that was real.
Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
See, five-pounders
shake him.
That's how you know we don'tcatch them.
Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
Exactly, If I catch
any bass and their eyeballs are
bulging, I know that's a bigfreaking bass it is.
I mean, a lot of people don'tcatch five pounders so that's
true.
Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
I mean, think about
it.
A lot of people don't catchthem.
We're just cool, we are.
We probably do live in one ofthe best areas in the world.
I get to fish all over thecountry and as far as like big
fish success rate, as far ascatching them between caney and
bussy and even darball, yeah, like there's nowhere else I've
ever been in the world where youcan dang near guarantee go
(01:06:13):
catch a seven pounder.
Like it's nothing to catch aseven pounder?
Yeah, I've only caught one.
I I've never caught one.
So it's not nothing To theextent I've only caught one.
But how much time have youspent on either one of those two
?
Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
You're right.
Four months, no, every day Fourmonths straight, every day.
Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
Hey, remember, just
real quick.
Just real quick because thispodcast is getting long, but
remember that time we went to wewon't say what lake we went to,
but you were wearing it out youhad like a 30 something pound
bag.
Yeah, it was the one day Icould get a freaking bite.
He doesn't got a 30 pound bag.
He's getting emotional.
I'm good, I'm breaking down.
Speaker 1 (01:06:59):
No, the funny part of
the story you get to the really
funny part is me and Beast Guyon the phone talking the whole
time on the phone and he's likedude, you called another seven
and Beast Guy's like punk.
He's like I'm not gonna telldad.
He's on the phone telling meright, he's down, I ain't gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
I got hung up cause I
got tired of you doing.
And Beastie's like no, I'm justfishing.
He's like, did you catchanother one?
Beastie's like no, no.
Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
And Tim's like shut
up.
I just heard you Don't try tosave my fish, I'm right across.
Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
He's on the other
side of the tree.
Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
I can see you.
He's on the other side of thetree.
Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
I didn't see him to
fish you.
Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
I heard you tell
Daryl you were going to tailbeat
.
What kind of bullshit is this?
B Scott said messed up and toldme about that total link
tournament.
You guys have been fishing.
Yeah, I told Tyler.
Speaker 3 (01:07:49):
No, I do kick ass on
this.
Speaker 1 (01:07:49):
He's in Elginville.
I went from two.
I'm in Elginville.
Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07:52):
On that day, right
there, I went from 275th place.
Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Now we do kick ass at
that tournament, he told me he
said he wins all the time.
Speaker 1 (01:08:02):
Yeah, we do win
Tyler's in.
Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
Ellsworth, for some
of them Can't be a professional.
Really no, no we do.
Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
It wouldn't be fair
if he was in anyways, yeah it
literally.
Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
wouldn't be fair.
It would not be fair.
I mean hell, you had a hundred, and how many inches did you
have?
A hundred twenty 128 inches,five fish.
Speaker 1 (01:08:20):
That's pretty damn
good.
That's a good average.
That's a lot of inches.
Speaker 3 (01:08:24):
Oh yeah, that's a lot
of inches.
Speaker 1 (01:08:25):
Today's person was
like 118 or something.
Speaker 3 (01:08:28):
Oh, he killed it.
He killed it, man, as soon ashe caught that 10-pounder.
It was like 24, 25 inches.
No, it was 25.
It was 25 and three quarters.
I was like, oh well, I'm done.
You know what the chances ofcatching a 25-inch largemouth
it's hard.
Speaker 1 (01:08:41):
You can be up there
in the top 10 if you just catch
like five 24-inch fish.
So it's like you killing a200-inch deer, you know you
catch a 25-inch largemouth.
That's a good fish.
I wouldn't compare it tokilling a 200-inch deer, I mean
because I've caught a bunch of25-inch fish, yeah, but you're
(01:09:02):
in your element of fishing andI've never caught a 200-inch
fish and you can't snake onnothing.
Speaker 3 (01:09:05):
Yeah, but you can't
snake.
But there's a lot of peoplethat haven't caught a 25-inch
fish.
Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
Yes, there's a lot of
people that haven't caught it,
but there's a lot more peoplewho have not killed a 200-inch
deer.
Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
That's what I'm
getting at.
So what size largemouth wouldbe comparable to a 200-inch deer
?
Speaker 1 (01:09:25):
Like a 15-pound, it
would have to be like a 15-pound
largemouth.
Speaker 3 (01:09:29):
Really you wouldn't
say 12?
, no 12, 13?
.
Speaker 1 (01:09:32):
Really.
Speaker 3 (01:09:33):
He's caught a
12-pound bass People catch 12.
Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
I mean there was a 13
caught a caney the other day.
Yeah, I mean people catch 10,11, 12-pound bass all the time
Like a 200 inch deer, like justrandom people I'm not you know
what I mean.
Like it happens randomly, Likeyou don't hear about random 200
inch deer getting killed, LikeYou're right, Like it would be
like someone catching a, youknow 14.
Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
So what is the odds
of killing a 200 inch deer?
Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
I'm not sure.
I've never even seen or evenhad the opportunity.
It's slim Really, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:10:05):
It's definitely slim.
You think that 206 inch deer isthe biggest deer you're ever
going to kill?
Good?
Speaker 1 (01:10:11):
chance Damn.
See, that's not very.
That don't have me very hopeful.
Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
How does that make
you feel, though?
I mean, how does that?
It's bittersweet, is it?
It feels like maybe you need todo something else, because
you're not going to ever achievethat.
Speaker 1 (01:10:26):
I would be willing to
.
Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
He's probably going
to kill another one did you
think you were going to kill onethat big this soon in your life
?
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
no, no, it's cool it
was just like a year ago, you
know, two years ago.
You're really just trying tobreak that 170 mark.
Speaker 2 (01:10:43):
Yeah, I mean, my goal
every year is three overs.
Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Well, I got a really
important question.
Who was the first person youcalled?
Probably Tyler.
Really, who was the firstperson I mean you got to call
somebody first?
Usually it's your wife, but inthis case you're not.
So who would it be?
Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
It was probably Tyler
so who would it be?
It was probably tyler dude.
Speaker 1 (01:11:03):
They smoked a 200 and
I was like no, you didn't.
He was like shut up and then hesent me a picture of it and I
said, no, you didn't.
No way, it did not look.
It don't look real.
I mean it don't like.
It looks like I mean that deer, that with that looks like a
high fence deer.
Yeah, yeah, you know what Imean.
Like that deer does not looklike a wild deer, but I mean
obviously it is.
I was just on another level.
(01:11:26):
I mean it's yeah.
Just, he wasn't real excited.
I think he was like in shockwhen he called me and he was
just like I just killed him.
He's like I think it's like 185, like you know, that's all he
said.
It wasn't't like I just killeda 185-inch deer.
He was like yeah, it's about185.
Speaker 3 (01:11:44):
So what got you
excited about fishing?
How big does a fish got to bebefore you get excited?
Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
I mean, I get excited
when I catch a two-pounder.
You know what?
Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
I mean I just, like
catching fish.
Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
But I mean, I've
never caught a teen.
You know a teener, I've caught.
Caught a teen, you know ateener, I've caught some 12s and
11s, a bunch of those.
So I think the next time Iwould get like overly excited,
and you know.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
If you caught like a
13, 14 pound bass, that'd be
awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:12:10):
I mean, don't get me
wrong, like I said, I'm excited
about every bass I catch.
A 10 is, you know, exciting, but, like I said, we live around
some of the best lakes in theworld to catch those.
So to catch four or five ofthem a year is not that real.
Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
Really, I mean
anything south of where we're at
here Louisiana, north Louisiana, all of Texas is just good.
Speaker 1 (01:12:31):
It's just good
fishing.
Within three hours of my housethere's 30 lakes you can catch a
10-pounder.
Yeah, they have 10-poundersswimming around in it there's.
There's like when you go upnorth there's not very many 10
pounders in those lakes up there.
Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
no, you gotta start
fishing.
It's a lot bigger lakes yeah,yeah, man, I don't think you
need to take anything you'redoing.
No, I mean, he catches big fish, yeah he does.
Speaker 1 (01:12:53):
I brought him to a
tournament, like I said, he
thought he was hung, but he did.
They were big ones.
What was my biggest?
Like five something.
Five, yeah, he caught a four.
Oh, like this was like a after anight tournament too, and we
had 21 pounds or something.
And uh, we were coming in anduh, he was like we had like five
minutes left and I was like man, we got it, we don't even need
(01:13:14):
to fish no more.
And he's like let's just fishthis one little last little
light over here, just, and I'mlike all right, whatever, I'll
over there.
And he casts in there and uh,he don't set the hook or nothing
, he just like points the rodout.
He's like I'm hung, just liketrying to get it unhung, and
then like a five pounder jumpsout.
We end up catching.
Well, he caught it and thennetted it or whatever.
So then we have like 23, 24pounds and we won by like six
(01:13:37):
ounces.
So if we wouldn't stop and hecaught that fish, he would not
have won.
Oh my god dang oh geez that'scrazy.
I can't wait.
I can't wait for fishing season.
I'm ready.
Speaker 3 (01:13:47):
I'm ready to get
going with it yeah, it's time
I'm ready to go deer hunt.
Now you got another month inarkansas.
Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
Yeah, I know it.
Who's gonna?
You're not doing, I'm not.
No, the problem is, if one oneof us three goes to do it, it
basically means we're all doingit.
Yeah, that's how we roll.
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
We roll three deep.
You know what I mean.
So you have to convince allthree of us.
Okay, let's go hunting Nothappening.
I'm ready for fishing.
I'm ready for fishing too.
We're getting our boats ready.
We got 2025 stuff coming out.
I mean, we're getting allpumped up.
Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
It's a new season Yep
, new season, New season.
I think that wraps this up, manCody.
Thanks for making the trip,Tyler appreciate y'all having me
.
Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
It was a long trip
but I'm glad you came.
Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
I appreciate y'all
having me.
It ain't very often we get tosee big deer like this.
Oh.
