In this episode of Casual Chats, Patricia and Arun discuss about the 2016 Walt Disney animated movie Moana in honor of Moana 2 in theaters. 1000 years ago, a demi-god named Maui stole the heart of a god named Te Fiti in an uncharted island. While trying to leave the island, a lava monster named Te Ka attacked Maui and was never seen again. A Polynesian chief's daughter named Moana wishes to explore outside the island that she grew up in to locate Maui and force him to return the heart of Te Fiti to the island, especially since Te Ka's curse of destroying the islands has now reached their island. Receiving the blessings from her parents, Moana journeys to the vast ocean to locate Maui and return the heart of Te Fiti before her home is destroyed. When the film premiered in theaters, it made $687 million dollars out of a $150 million dollar budget with critical acclaim from critics and viewers praising the characters, animation, setting, and music. How well does the film hold up after 8 years later?
