Speaker 2 (00:08):
So great, so great.
Welcome to 2025.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Six.
But okay, I'm kidding, I'm likewait a second.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
How did I miss a
whole year?
It's possible.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
I mean, I don't
really know, it's kind of hard
to miss 365 days, 65 days.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yeah, I'm glad that
you know how many days are in
one year.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Of course I know that
.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
What.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Of course I know that
.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Oh, I thought you
said I have a question about
that.
No, all right.
So you're listening to HonorBus Behavior.
We're so glad that you're here.
We're so glad to share a newyear for you.
New years are exciting for alot of people, including myself.
I like a new start and a newtime to focus on goals and
(00:50):
resolutions and a new outlook, and hopefully it lasts all year
long and we can grow and betterourselves and then grow and grow
and grow every year.
So let's talk about New Year'sresolutions.
Let's open it up with that.
Do you have a New Year'sresolution, mccoy?
Speaker 1 (01:08):
What is that?
A goal?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
You don't know what a
New Year's resolution is.
It's a goal, though, right.
It's like a goal that you setfor yourself for the year.
I was just making sure, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Getting my license.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
All right, you
graduated from behind the wheel.
Yeah, finally, you're all donewith that.
How many hours of driving doyou have logged?
I don't know, like 16 ish, 17ish how many hours logged do you
need to take the test?
I I don't really the the paperthat I have says it oh okay, you
(01:38):
don't know, off the top of yourhead it's like 50.
Yeah, you're not even halfwaythere we got to get.
The problem is here I my driveto work is one point two miles,
so I don't really go anywhere.
If we go anywhere on theweekends, like, everything that
(01:59):
we need to go to is super close, yeah, so we just don't really
drive a lot.
We should.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
And we don't really
do anything that much there
weekend, so there's like one daywhat we'll?
Do a lot yeah, and it's likeeither sunday or saturday, yeah
one or the other and and thenthat's like the rest is just
like chill out, and then one ofthose days is like chores.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Like god, you just do
chores, so like I don't know
yeah, there's just not enoughtime I know but one day, one day
we should, you know maybe I'llhave to find something on
Facebook Marketplace.
I want to buy and make youdrive me to get it, Because
that's usually a little fartheraway.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Do you hear?
Speaker 2 (02:35):
that?
Yeah, that's your dry lip up onthe microphone.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
What does it sound
like, Mom?
I can't hear you?
Speaker 2 (02:43):
No, because I don't
have dry lips like you.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
So what do you hear
it?
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yeah, it's like it's
not that dramatic.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
But don't you have
lipstick on, or what do you?
Speaker 2 (02:51):
call it Chapstick, I
don't anymore.
It all rubbed off.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
I feel like I need.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
They look shiny
kissable.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
I mean not by you,
but by Eminem.
Do they look rough and nasty?
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Rust Rough you.
But what do mine looks like bym&m?
Do they look rough and nasty?
Rust rough and bumpy?
I know, but I said rust when Iwas trying to say rough snapchat
all right new year's resolution, so my new, do you want to?
Oh, mom, what?
What is your new year'sresolution?
Do you have one, do you?
Oh, I'm so glad that you askedI did ask you right.
That should also be aresolution, for you is to ask
(03:26):
other people.
I do.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
I'm locked.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
All right, my New
Year's resolution is to slow
down.
Especially when I talk on thispodcast, I feel like I have so
many thoughts in my brain andthen I'm trying to talk really
fast because I'm trying to getthem all out, but then I'm
thinking of other things andthen this is probably where you
get your ADHD, because I'm likebing, bang, bong and I'm all
(03:53):
over the place and then I forgetabout what I was actually
trying to say in the first place.
So I'm trying to slow it downand just focus a lot more on the
podcast content, just writingmy thoughts out, versus thinking
like I can wing it, because Ican wing it, but then it becomes
more like on our best behavior, shit show version.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Maybe it's like that
anyway, but we hope you like it.
All right, my other, your other, what my other?
I had some other resolutionsthat I wanted, so talking slow
on this podcast and slowing down, oh, slowing down in life like
I'm really loving my forehandhomestead that I have going on
(04:39):
right now that's what I'm goingto call my egg.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Stand the forehand
homestead oh fore, oh 4Hen, yeah
, 4hen.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
What did you think?
I said 4Hen, oh, 4hen,homestead.
And so I've really beenenjoying my backyard, even
though it's fucking cold.
It's not that cold, but guesswhat I ordered?
It comes on Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
What is that I?
Speaker 2 (04:58):
ordered one of those
bubble globes.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
What is a bubble
globe?
It's like a tent, but it's abubble, it's a dome.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
It's a see-through
bubble, it's a dome, and you can
keep it warm and you can putlike furniture and blankets in
there I'm going to put like alittle fireplace heater, so it's
literally a shield dome.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah, see how you're
Gibraltar from Apex.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
So you can just be
all like my mom Up there she is
in her four-hand homestead inher snow globe, I'm going to say
, oh her shield dome.
That's kind of cool, it's not.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
It's a shield dome.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
It's either called an
igloo or a bubble tent.
Can I call it a shield dome, Imean, I guess?
Speaker 1 (05:33):
I didn't know that
was Shield dome, I guess that's
on the agenda for learning newthings shield dome.
So a shield dome.
I know I need to work on mystutter.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
No, I do that all the
time because once again it's my
brain going.
All these neurons are justfiring too fast.
So what is a shield dome?
Is that from your game?
Is that like some kind ofbarrier of protection?
Speaker 1 (06:04):
no, it's from my game
.
Yeah, what game.
Apex.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Oh, you haven't
played that in a minute.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah, I haven't
Actually it hasn't been a minute
.
It's probably been like acouple weeks.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
So tell me when you
would use a shield dome.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
It's just like
something that you throw down
and you're safe inside of it.
I don't think that this is thatprotective.
I mean, if I threw something atit, would it hit?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
you.
It depends on how heavy it isor how like.
If you shot at me, it woulddefinitely hit me so like in
your game, I'm sure it's a lotof shooting.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
It's a bullet that
would definitely not protect
nerf gun yes, that would, Iwould be probably safe from your
Nerf gun, so it protects you.
So yes.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
I'm trying to slow
down on the podcast and just
slow down in life and enjoy thetime that I have and the way I
want to, and also my mentalhealth and well-being.
I'm continuing to work on that.
I just really want to be akinder, more approachable person
, and I hate being judged and Ihate judging others, and so I'm
(07:15):
really trying hard to not bejudgy.
But you know what I'm going tosay it we're all judgy,
everyone's judgy, but it'sreally hard to not be judgy.
Are you judgy?
Yes, yes, that's what I'msaying.
Like I don't want to be judgy, but we all make assumptions or
(07:36):
impressions about others and I'mjust trying to be like it's
okay, like that's fine, as longas you're a nice person, I'm
good with you.
I'm working on it.
It doesn't come easy.
So, yes, and so again, I'mworking on my mental health, I'm
working on my well-being.
I haven't had alcohol in fourmonths, trying to go one whole
(07:57):
year, just because because I'vealready gone this long.
And it's not that I feel like Ishouldn't have alcohol, but I
feel like when I do have alcoholI don't enjoy it, like it makes
me feel icky, it gives me aheadache, it makes me feel tired
, it makes me feel crappy thenext day, it's expensive.
So, anyway, bye-bye.
(08:19):
And I'm not saying I'm not evergoing to drink again, but I am
really trying to go one yearwithout it.
And and I'm not saying I'm notever going to drink again, but I
am really trying to go one yearwithout it.
And I wanted to let you know, since I started my weight loss
journey in June of 2023, I havelost 55 pounds.
So what do you weigh right now?
1.23.
Ooh, you're getting close and Ican't believe.
(08:40):
I just announced my weight onthis podcast.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
We have a scale in
the bathroom.
Last time I weighed myself Iwas around like 120-something.
I can't believe.
I just announced my weight onthis podcast.
I wonder how much I weigh.
We have a scale in the bathroom.
Last time I weighed myself, Iwas around like 120-something.
I don't remember how long ago.
How long ago has it been?
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Probably like three
months since I last weighed
myself, so it's probably goingup.
One thing I wanted to—see I'malready having to like backpedal
.
One thing I also wanted to talkabout is with you having your
permit.
I have been having the pleasureof being chauffeured around by
you what was chauffeured aroundwhat?
Yeah, you drive me around, soI'm like hey, so my life has
gotten really easy becausebetween order pickup and you
(09:19):
driving you have to do nothing.
I have to do nothing but ridealong and and just be like oh,
turn here up, turn here up,watch out up, you're good to go,
yep, yep.
You did great Blah, blah, blah, but you're a really good driver
.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Blah, blah, blah,
blah, blah, blah.
Hey, I didn't stutter.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
I just blah, blah,
blah.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
What are you doing,
bro?
I'm just trying to think aboutwhat I want to do.
You got stuck on a thought.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
No, I'm not stuck.
I was trying to.
I mean, I have a lot ofthoughts that I want to talk
about, but I was giving you amoment to see if there was
anything that you wanted tochirp in on.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Chirp, chirp, chirp,
chirp chirp Okay.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Well speaking of
well-being, mental health.
I also want to talk aboutmental wealth.
So yeah, mine's really goodtotally Mac let's it is.
Let's talk about one of ourfavorite daily rituals Magic
Mind.
Oh yeah, so Magic Mind, it's alittle green shot packed with
ingredients that actually work.
It's been a total game changerfor both Mac and me, whether
it's avoiding that dreadedmid-afternoon slump or just
(10:28):
keeping our focus sharp.
Magic Mind delivers.
It's filled with real powerfulingredients like lion's mane,
which is premium, and otheramazing mushrooms.
All the mushrooms are so goodfor brain power.
It has matcha in it and Bvitamins and L-theanine, which
(10:50):
is really good for ADHD.
What's L-theanine?
It's a vitamin or a supplementor something like that.
It has ashwagandha in it, whichis great for reducing stress,
and also turmeric, which is themagical.
I don't know if it's an herb orit's a spice, but it's like you
(11:11):
know.
They say it prevents cancer.
It does all these really greatthings for you.
So it has all of that magic init and it's natural and it's
packed with benefits.
No midday crashes here that ismy.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
You're taking that
almost every day.
What do you mean?
Speaker 2 (11:26):
no, but I mean at
work, like when I'm at work, I
do, and I do, midday is likefive o'clock midday?
No, for me, midday is like one,two o'clock.
What do you mean?
That's like halfway through theday, like your school day.
It's like halfway through yourschool day.
I'm talking halfway through mywork day so usually what I'm
saying is I have my coffee inthe morning, Then I have lunch
(11:47):
and then I just kind of go intolike a.
I really wish I could just laydown and take a nap, but with
Magic Mind, I don't have that.
I don't have that slump.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
I'm just Don't worry.
Midday through is gym, so don'tworry.
Midday through is gym, so don'tworry, my energy goes up.
You already know.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
You probably don't
notice, because you've been
shooting Magic Mind and so youjust don't get the slump.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
No, I just usually
don't get a slump, unless I have
really boring classes and I'mnot doing much.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
So just steady energy
and focus all day long.
Seriously, give Magic Mind atry.
We think you'll love it as muchas we do, and I'm really
excited we got this.
Today they came out with asleep elixir the slump elixir,
sure and so tonight we're gonnatake that and see how much it
(12:33):
helps us sleep, because I don'tknow about you, mackie, what are
you looking?
for, but I am not the bestsleeper and I found it what I
wanted you to know about theMagic Mind Sleep Elixir is there
is no melatonin in it, whichI'm excited for.
It's not addictive and then thenext day you don't have
(12:55):
grogginess and it just supportsyou in that relaxive state of
mind.
The next day when you stillfeel tired, like you're not
ready to wake up.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Yeah, I hate that.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
That's you every
morning.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
That's one of the
things I'm like.
Oh my God, I don't want to getup.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
And it has a lot of
things that also are appealing
to me.
It has ashwagandha again, passionflower, lavender, lemon
balm, chamomile, ooh, magnesium, which is magical if you have
restless legs or headaches.
I love that stuff.
All right, bundle with our link, which we're going to put in
(13:47):
the show notes, which ismagicmindcom backslash Kelly SZ,
jan.
So that's going to beK-E-L-L-I-S-Z-J-A-N and we'll
put that in the show notes foryou.
Mccoy, what, what else do yougot?
Are you going to talk for alittle bit or do you want me to?
I have something I'm reallyproud of you for.
What's really?
Speaker 1 (14:07):
proud of me for.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
You made the honor
roll.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
No, I didn't.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Drum roll?
Yes, you did.
I don't know how I did that.
Did they tell you that you madethe honor roll?
Because I got a weird email oneday and I was like, oh, what's
this like?
Doesn't look good.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
and I was like mccoy,
is on the honor roll.
Mainstream classes gpa of 3.5or higher.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
It's not a 1.8.
You should really be proud ofyourself.
You've come such a long way.
Okay, fine, you don't want totalk?
Speaker 1 (14:42):
about it?
Oh, no, I have come a long way.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Don't be modest.
What do you mean modest?
Modest means like you're shyabout it.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
I'm not shy about it.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Okay, well, be loud
and proud.
No, okay, fine.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
I know he's going to
be loud and proud.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Would you rather not
be on the honor roll?
I mean, I would rather but youregistered for your classes For
next year, which we're going to.
Would you rather not be on thehonor roll?
I mean, I would rather, butyeah, you registered for your
classes for next year, whichwe're going to throw in the
towel and sign you up for a step.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
What do you mean?
Throw in the towel?
Speaker 2 (15:11):
Like we're going to
go to your school and say we
want you to do this step programwhere you can go get college
credits at the tech school.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Yep For two hours for
the free yeah, right that's
kind of fun.
You go there for two hours, yeah don't you want to do that?
Speaker 2 (15:29):
yeah, and then you
could be done with college
faster, making money I guessyeah it probably saved me a
little bit of time.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Plus, if I do it, the
next three years wait why are
you looking?
Two, you can only do for two.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Well, you're going to
be in 11th grade next year.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
This is for next year
.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
I was like, that's
why I was thinking I was looking
at you because I was like threeyears.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Yeah, I guess two
years Unless you want to be a
super senior.
No.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
All right, and
something I wanted to start for
2025 is I want you to tell meand I'm going to tell you also
something new that you learnedthis week infinity and beyond.
Buzz Lightyear toy story.
Heck, yeah, I know how to flynow what do they say to infinity
(16:18):
and beyond?
Speaker 1 (16:20):
sorry.
What am I doing?
Something new that you learnedthis week?
Tell me something new andbeyond, sorry, what?
Speaker 2 (16:22):
am I doing Something
new that you learned this week?
Tell me something new that youlearned this week.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
How do you eat an
apple?
I'm kidding.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Can you eat an apple
with those braces?
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Yeah, it probably
just sucks.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Well, you could cut
it up, I guess.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Really, I guess I
could.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
You're not much of an
apple eater.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Not really.
I'm not really a fruit eater ingeneral.
No yeah, unless they're thereand I'm hungry, then I'll eat
one, so tell me something newthat you learned.
Okay, okay, okay, Bro, it's soboring though.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
It's fine, it's so
boring it's fine.
So as so boring, it's fine.
So as this next week goes on,you need to be thinking.
I want you to be thinking aboutmy microphone is cutting out
Mac.
I want you to be thinking about.
You know, just put that in thefront of your brain like, oh, I
didn't know that.
(17:20):
I'm going to put it in my brainfor the podcast.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Oh yeah, your brain
like oh, I didn't know that.
I'm gonna put it in my brainfor the podcast, oh yeah.
So even if it's boring, tell uswhat you learned.
This.
All right, I'm gonna say it'sreally freaking boring and it's
not gonna benefit me in any way,but it could benefit someone
listening what it could benefitsomeone listening I mean, my
instructions are pretty buns allright, well, let's okay.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
What did you learn?
Speaker 1 (17:43):
The Prothagorean
Theorem I don't know how to say
it right.
Okay, what is that?
It's like the triangle with theX's, and like A squared plus B
squared equals C squared.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Okay, so it's like
geometry.
Yes, okay, it's geometry.
It's geometry, and and you knowhow to do it, yep, you could
teach somebody how to do it, yep, good for you.
I love that for you.
How do you love that for me?
I don't know.
Just because I'm really happythat you thought of something,
that you learned that was new, because usually you're like I
(18:15):
don't know, I do know Nothinghappened, I don't know, yeah,
nothing ever happens.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
I'm telling you.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Oh, I know something
that happened that.
I didn't write in my show notesthat I wanted you to talk about
.
You mentioned to me the otherday, so casually, how people
smoke weed on the bus.
What do you mean?
You said something about.
You can smell weed on the busbecause people smoke weed on the
bus.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Okay, so what about
it?
Speaker 2 (18:40):
You just didn't even
seem like it was a big deal, and
I think that's a really bigdeal.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Yeah, it happens
every day.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
So are people smoking
it?
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Do you see them
smoking it on the bus?
It's like the weed e-cig.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Oh, the vape.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Yeah, that's what it
is.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Does the bus driver
ever say anything?
They don't care.
They say I can smell the weed, put it away, yeah no one gives a
fuck is there, do you know?
I'm not asking you to rat, butdo you know who does it?
Speaker 1 (19:08):
I don't know if you
have some of the people that do
do it, but like I don't knowhalf their names do?
Speaker 2 (19:13):
are they younger than
you or older than you?
Like probably my age okay, youdon't know for sure, not for
sure.
No, oh, I just wanted.
This is also.
This.
Is my brain going off intodifferent things just made me
think of this okay which won'tmake any sense to you, but I'll
tell you why after I saw onfacebook that alex is oh, you
(19:38):
didn't come with us at night.
He's doing better, he's in rehaband he's working on some new
songs the guy from when youdanced at the band shell and I
saw a crystal post on there thatshe's excited to be dancing
again and I thought so is McCoy,so I can get $50?
.
I mean, I would ask for $100and just really boost her.
(20:01):
Yeah, so anyway, I just want tolet you be prepared to dance
again.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
I'm ready, I'm locked
in, I'm taking the free money.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Do you want to know
what I learned?
Speaker 1 (20:12):
new this week.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
It's going to be
really boring for you, Okay.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
I'm ready.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
But all right.
Once you turn 45, you'resupposed to get a colonoscopy
every year to 10 years, depending on your results.
If everything's normal, it'severy 10 years.
Colonoscopy people.
If you're 45 or older, you needa colonoscopy every 10 years.
A lot of people don't want todo a colonoscopy, so they opt
(20:36):
for a alternative test calledCologuard.
Cologuard is a test where youpoop at home.
You put your poop on this cardor in this thing I've never done
it myself and then you mailyour poop in to this company and
then they let you know ifthere's any concern oh yeah, or
colon cancer in your body or no,just in your butt just in your
(20:58):
colon, yeah,oh and so, anyway, today, I,
today, I finally said how oftendo you have to do coligard?
Because I didn't know if it wasevery.
I knew it wasn't every 10 years.
I thought it was every year, but wendy told me it's every
three years if it's normal.
And if it's not normal, thenyou have to do the colonoscopy
anyway.
So, anyway, that's what Ilearned, super exciting.
(21:22):
Right Today at work I had apatient who was having some odor
.
I'm going to make this vague, but I feel like it's
entertaining, but I don't wantto say too much.
She brought in a pair of herunderwear so that we could see
(21:42):
what they smelled like.
So we knew what the odor waslike, that she was experiencing.
And what was that?
Psa, do not bring yourunderwear to your appointment.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
What did PSA stand
for?
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Public Service
Announcement.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Why did she do that?
Leave your undies at home.
Did she just bring it?
So she was like Leave yourundies at home.
They smell really bad.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
I think there's.
You know we're working on ourmental health.
She probably needs to also.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
But I'm not judging.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
No, she was
experiencing an odor that she
didn't think was right.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Okay, so she, oh, my
God.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
That kind of odor
Okay.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Oh, my God Okay.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
All right, I want to
talk about Christmas, because we
haven't done a podcast sincechristmas.
Mccoy, what did santa bring youfor christmas?
A million dollars, chat.
Damn, why don't you be sharingthat with me?
Speaker 1 (22:34):
I'm kidding, I wish
dude, I wish I wish too.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
How much would you
give me of that million?
Half half, yeah, man you dolove me of course what okay, so
tell me what you really got.
What did santa bring you a?
Speaker 1 (22:49):
pc a monitor, a
keyboard and mouse.
And what else did I get?
That was a good like a batterypack thing for like xbox
controllers.
What else did I get?
Trying, trying to thinkUnderwear, I think I got two
things of socks.
What else did I get?
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Hey, don't bring your
underwear to your doctor's
appointment, oh, my god, I knowhow did I do that.
It's so weird, it was a first,okay, I don't remember Clothes.
Those new socks yeah, I know Ilike them.
Do you like them?
Yeah, yeah, I know I like them.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Do you like?
Speaker 2 (23:19):
them, yeah, gift
cards.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Oh yeah, I got a
bunch of food gift cards.
I already spent one of them.
Two of them actually, they'regone.
I spent them in one day.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
You realize, money
doesn't go very far, does it?
Speaker 1 (23:31):
I mean, when you have
a job, it kind of does.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
And when you don't
have to pay rent, I mean shit,
that's fine.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
It probably has like
three bucks on it, but I don't
know what happened to it.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Well, hey, you can
use it towards, like, if
something costs $10, but youstill have $3 left on your gift
card.
I don't know what happened toit, though you can, it's
probably gone.
That's $3.
You can still use it you justhave to pay the rest For the
free.
Well, it's not for free.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
It is for the free.
So 1 to 10, how great was yourChristmas?
It was probably a 10, yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Not the best
Christmas ever.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
It was probably a 10.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
It was probably one
of the best, though In the top
three.
Tell me in your mind what thebest Christmas was.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Probably when I got
the, I don't know, that's so
difficult.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Like when do you
remember feeling like the
happiest on Christmas?
Speaker 1 (24:30):
When I got the
freaking wall of Nerf guns.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Yeah, that was a good
one.
That was a good one.
Do you actually remember that?
Yes, yeah, I have a picture ofthat on Instagram somewhere
they're just stacked to theceiling.
Yeah, I know.
Yeah, on Instagram, somewherethey're just stacked to the
ceiling.
Yeah, I know.
All right, you know, I alwayslike to talk about what you're
watching or what you're reading, and I know you binge Squid
Games too, so I want to hearabout it.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
What do you mean?
You want to hear about it.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
I mean I want you to
tell everyone did you like it?
Should they watch it?
Is it worth?
Speaker 1 (24:58):
it.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
Yeah, it is worth it,
no spoilers you stayed up until
midnight binging it.
Yeah, it's worth a watch.
Yeah, what do you like so muchabout Squid Game the show.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
I don't know, I don't
know, I don't know what I like
about it.
I just like it, yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
I just feel like you
don't get into that many TV
shows, so I'm just interested, like what?
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Cause I already
watched the first season.
I just got to watch the secondone.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
You're just committed
.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Not bad of a show,
whatever you want to call it.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
There was a scene in
there where they were playing
like Russian roulette with a gunand it just really freaked me
out, because this is why I knowthat you're not going to do that
to yourself.
I know you're not, I knowyou're not dumb and I know that
you know that's wrong, but itworries me that people watch
that and get ideas that they cando that.
And let me tell you, if youactually played Russian roulette
(25:53):
like that, the odds of it beingthe last bullet are very slim
to none.
Like it's likely to be thefirst or second one.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
What do you mean?
Speaker 2 (26:03):
That blows your
brains out, so it's not a funny
game.
I think kids think like oh, Icould do that and it's probably
not going to hit me until theninth round.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
It just depends on
what the ball does now, so
anyway promise me that you willnever do something like that.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Because, as a mom, it
terrifies me.
I just don't want anything badhappening to kids.
No, I don't do that but then Itry to remember the things that
I watched and listened to when Iwas 15.
And I absolutely knew that thatwas not okay or right or
whatever, but I still liked itand thought it was cool, but I
(26:38):
knew it wasn't reality.
Your birthday is coming up.
You're going to be 16.
You're just trying to skip awhole year of your life.
You're trying to skip 25.
You're trying to skip 16.
So what do you want for yourbirthday?
And let me tell you what'scoming the week before your
(27:00):
birthday presents when you getto pick a number and then you
get a gift one week up to yourbirthday.
But what I need to know is whatyou want for your birthday.
Give me one idea.
It doesn't have to be acommitment and it doesn't have
to be the only thing.
Okay, ready.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Yes, a mouse pad and
speakers for my pc, okay, but I
want a certain mouse pad.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
well, yeah, I want
you to, you know so you go
search it up and send it to me,so that I know you might do it
like soon yeah, I know, that'swhy I need you to send it like
soon.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Soon, I don't know, I
don't Well your birthday is
still in 10 days.
Is it actually in 10 days?
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Holy shit, it's
already January.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Yeah, bro, where have
you been?
It's already January to January8th.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Mom, oh why.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
You're so nasty, All
right.
Is there anything else that youhave to add?
Otherwise, I'm going to talkfor a long time about this
really great book that I read.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
I'm ready, okay.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
And then, after I
tell you about my book I know
you have a.
Would you rather Ignore?
We're doing a podcast right now, okay, and I have a funny joke
for you.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
And it's funny, isn't
it?
Speaker 1 (28:16):
My joke.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
Mm for you.
And it's funny, isn't it?
My joke, okay.
So I recently read a bookcalled this goes on with the
whole mental health thing andbettering yourself, and it is
called Get Control of your Lifeby Mel Robbins.
It focuses on how anxiety istriggered so much by the lack of
control that you might have insituations.
This book really hit home forme because as I reflected on my
(28:43):
own experiences, I could see howmuch control, or trying to have
control, has shaped me over theyears.
It made me realize howintertwined that has been with
the other emotions, likejealousy, competitiveness,
especially in growing up that Ihad.
Growing up I feel like I wasoften trying to prove myself,
(29:05):
striving to be the favoritegrandchild, the favorite child,
the favorite niece, the favoritestudent, the favorite coworker,
the favorite employee.
I wanted to fit in, but I alsoreally wanted to stand out and
be the best and that made mejealous, mean and at times,
honestly not always the personthat I wanted to be.
(29:28):
Now, as I've gotten older andgone through several bouts of
therapy and medications, whichhas helped me feel more stable
and given me the tools I need tobetter navigate my life and
situations, I look back and I'verecognized those behaviors and
where they came from and I don'twant to be that person.
(29:48):
I've worked really hard tobecome kinder and, oh my
goodness, I have to get mybreath To just be more kind,
more kinder, more kind.
I have to get my breath to justbe more kind, more kinder, more
kind and self-aware.
So what this book reallysolidified for me is how much of
that behavior was rooted in myneed for control control over
(30:08):
how people saw me, control overthe relationships that I've had
and maybe even control over myfamily dynamics.
I grew up thinking that I had anormal childhood, but throughout
my adult life I have realizedhow dysfunctional it was.
I know my mom was doing thebest she could with how she was
raised and what she thought wasokay and what was right, and
(30:31):
people judging her on how shewas parenting.
I do have some resentment on alot of my childhood.
My mom didn't let me join anysports.
She laughed at my dreams ofbeing a rock star, which I know
are far-fetched, but instead oflaughing at me like let me do
voice lessons or let me learnhow to play the piano, the piano
(30:54):
, the piano.
She didn't let me have much ofa social life.
She would ground me just sothat I would be at home with her
.
I had to be, like my parents, designated driver because I'm
glad that they didn't drivedrunk but I just felt kind of
like a prisoner, like I was justthere for them.
(31:16):
Anyway, I'm not saying it'sright or it's wrong, I'm just
saying I have resentment aboutit.
Looking back on my life, andyou know, then my parents moved
far away from me when I wasyoung and I feel like that kind
of.
I felt like I had two options Icould stay home, where I
(31:36):
already had a job and bills topay, and a boyfriend, and I was
going to school at the time andI felt like I couldn't just
leave all that behind and I alsojust felt like I couldn't just
up and leave.
But in the same breath I feltlike then I was kind of tied to
(31:57):
that boyfriend and that life.
And you know, when you're young, you think you're old and you
have this biological clockticking and I'm not saying that
that's my parents' fault, butI'm just saying that that's what
my mindset was.
And you know, then my mom diedwhen she was super young and I
have resentment about that, notthat it's her fault, not that
(32:19):
it's.
Maybe she could have done somethings different.
I still love her and I haveaccepted all of these things,
but it's just like if I couldhave had things be different,
that's some of the things Iwould have chose and I try to be
the best for you, mccoy, butI'm sure one day you will let me
know what I could have donebetter and what I did that you
didn't like.
You will let me know what Icould have done better and what
(32:39):
I did that you didn't like.
But I want you to also knowthat I hope we have the
relationship where you can tellme that now, even though I know
you think I'm scary, I'm tellingyou I'm trying to be nice.
So, anyway, I wanted to sharethis book with you and the
things that it made me think andfeel.
I know I'm not alone in thisstruggle, whether it's anxiety,
jealousy or feeling like youhave to prove yourself.
(33:00):
I think we all face momentswhen we are not our best selves,
but recognizing it and workingthrough it and choosing to grow
is what really matters.
So if any of this resonates toyou, I'd love to hear your
thoughts or experiences.
Feel free to email us.
Thank you for letting me sharethis part of my journey with you
(33:20):
.
It's not always easy to talkabout these things, but I think
it's important to put it outthere and be transparent.
I definitely recommend.
The name of the book again isGet Control of your Life by Mel
Robbins.
Tackles things you know, justdifficulties with anxiety and
(33:41):
self-worth and control, and onand on and on.
So if you just want to likelisten to a little blip of it,
it's good.
What I like about the book isit's actually real life people
that are struggling with theirlife in one way or another, and
then she kind of works themthrough it and they kind of see
what they are doing or whythey're feeling the way they're
(34:03):
feeling.
So it just felt really real, versus like a self-help book.
So it just really might openyour eyes to something you
didn't realize about yourself, like it did for me.
So that's my recommendation.
All right, thanks.
Do you have anything to add?
Do you want to tell me?
Speaker 1 (34:18):
the things that I do
that you wish.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Recommendation
alright, thanks.
Do you have anything to add?
Do you want to tell me thethings that I do that you wish I
didn't do?
Speaker 1 (34:24):
there's nothing I
wish I didn't do how can I make
your childhood better?
I don't know, it's fine.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
I made you, it's not
yet some of the craziest things
in my childhood happened to mein high school.
Hey, you got a bat in the cavejust so you know yes, did you
get it?
No, I don't know where it iswell here.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
I found it yep, told
you.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Did you think I was
lying?
No, I would never.
Okay, you would all right.
So I'm ready for you to tell meyour.
Would you Alright?
So I'm ready for you to tell meyour would you rather.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
And then I have a
joke.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
And then I have some
closing words.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
Did you hear my
swallow, my eyes?
Speaker 2 (35:04):
I did I did, sure did
you heard that, oh yeah
everyone did, everyone heard you.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
If you want to listen
to this episode.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
You can hear it too.
Alright, ready, I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
I don't know if we've
done this, but Would you rather
hop everywhere you go or skipeverywhere you go?
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Skip.
I feel like skipping is easierthan hopping, it's way easier.
At first I wanted to sayhopping, because that's like a
bunny, but skipping is wayeasier.
I'm picking, skipping too, skipping too All right, are you
ready for the funniest jokeyou've heard all day?
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Yep, let's hear it,
man, all right it all day.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Yep let's hear it,
man.
All right, if you have yourkids in the car probably want to
shut the radio off, right?
Speaker 1 (35:42):
now what?
Speaker 2 (35:44):
because it's an
inappropriate joke.
I'm gonna tell okay ready ablind girl.
All right, this is not like aquestion and answer, it's like a
statement joke, okay okay ablind girl said I have a big
dick.
Turns out she was just pullingmy leg, get it.
She couldn't see, so shethought it was his dick, but it
(36:08):
was his leg, all right.
So just a quick wrap up.
