Speaker 1 (00:00):
My Heart Radio is proud to support our military community
from the largest military installation in North America. Let's go
on post at Fort Cavassos. Brought to you by Eldert Mitchibishi.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
We are absolutely delighted to be joined by Colonel Lakeisha Stokes,
Fort Cavasso's Garrison Commander, Colonel Stokes, how are you. It's
good to have you on with us.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Hey do I am doing great? Yes? How are you
doing today? And I'm excited to be on with you
on today.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Well, we're looking forward to a lot of big thanks
coming up there on post it to Fort Calassos. We're
gonna get started with this today.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Let's talk about the Project Hero United Healthcare Texas Challenge.
We were actually sending rotters off onto their next leg
of their six day cycling challenge, and that's from San
Antonio to Arlington, and we will have our police and
(00:53):
American leading routers who will escort them from the headquarters
here and then they'll go through out here on Fort
Cavasas and they will pass up the elementary school where
there'd be about eight hundred students that would be standing
outside just to you know, show them some support until
you know their next stop, which will be in Waco.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Looking forward to that. It's going to be a big
event and good weather for it coming up as well.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Oh yes, it's going to be great. And then on
Friday from ten to thirteen thirty or one thirty, we're
hosting buying a how do y'all event on Posts and
it's free and open to the public. This event is
a way for our soldiers and their families who just
arrived here or are soon transitioned out of the military
(01:43):
to kind of get acquainted with the local businesses place
to visit and it makes for a smoother transition to
and from Fort Cavasa. So we just invite everybody to
come on out to meet and mingle with you know,
our hometime neighbors and which includes those business is on
and off Posts in our family MWR programs, So we're
(02:04):
excited about that as well.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
There's so much to offer there on Post and four
Cavasos is such a big part of our community, so
this is open for everyone to come on post and
take advantage off they.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Can get them a visitor pass and then come on
on Post or if they have you know KAC they're
dood CAAC and have access they can come on and take,
you know, a part in this activity, and we're looking
forward to it.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
So much of what you do there at for Cavasos
and a lot of what we do here at iHeartRadio
taking care of the community. And I know you all
have the Army Volunteer Corps always looking to connect soldiers
with local nonprofit organizations here in the Central Texas area. Colonel,
let's touch on that just a moment.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
We have our USO and our Red Cross and a
few other organizations here that requires volunteers. And so last
year we talked about forty thousand hours served by more
than six style. The volunteers donate their time and effort
on such projects, raising scholarship funds, coordinating toy drives for
(03:08):
our Anglas Sentence Workshop, mentoring youth, and promoting good stewardship,
and they do a lot to represent our team. And
of course we can't do it by ourselves, so we
need all the volunteer support that we can get. And
so if there is anybody interested, we're asked in to
please reach out, you know, whether you reaching out to
(03:29):
us the Armor, Red Cross and sign up to volunteer
and help us out because it takes a team.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
A team talk to us about some of the things
going on with your garrison.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
We're planning on the twenty seventh of June at six
o'clock at Avrams Fitness Center and we'll be conducting our
fourth of astas we call it, the fourth Cavassas Fight Night.
We haven't had one in years. It was more of
a I think in the past what's called the box
and smoker. So we're excited about that. We're asking people
(04:01):
to come out and join us, and so that's one
of the biggest things that the team is planning for
right now. Every summer and opening our pools on the installation,
so there's always a lot of events. You can get
on our Fort Covasas website or you can Facebook or
MWR and see all the activities that we have going
(04:23):
on in for Cavasas.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Finally, this morning, Colonel Stokes, we are still in the fight.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
You know.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
As a reminder, more than seventeen hundred for Kvasso soldiers
are currently deployed around the world.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Yeah, so we have soldiers on the border and we
have them in year, South Korea, South America, Africa and
the Middle East and so we just acts every one,
just please keep them and their families and your thoughts
and prayers.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
