Sarah, Let's talk about the US Army Operational Test Command
in What You Do So, Dwayne.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
The Operational Test Command is based out of Fort Hood, Texas,
who are commonly referred to as OTC. We're responsible for
making sure new and authorized, new and modernized Army equipment
works for soldiers who will use it. So before anything
gets officially approved and sent out to units, it goes
through hands on testing with real soldiers and real wral conditions.
So this isn't lab work, it's actual boots on the
(03:22):
ground to see how gear performs in environments where troops
train and fight. Feedback soldiers provide helps the Army leaders
decide whether to move forward with production or make changes.
So OTC has been doing this for over fifty years,
starting back in the Vietnam War. It's a critical part
of making sure the Army gets the right equipment systems
for the job, tools that are reliable, effective and suitable
(03:45):
and work the taxpayers investment. And lastly, it ensures our
soldiers have the sakest, strongest, and most modern lethal equipment
when we go into harm's way. The Army's core mission
top priorities are keeping America safe, building the most lethal
force on the planet, and fighting and winning wars.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Command Sergeant Major Joe Johnson, the US Army Operational Task Command.
Let's talk just a moment about a recent exciting and
very important test.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
So duayne OTC the Armies Airborne and Special Operations Test
Directory at what BRADT. This is one of our units.
It plays a vital role in making sure our paratroopers
have the right gear and that it works when it
counts the recently conducted Menican training and preparation for the
test of the T leven parachute. The Armies go to
Jump System, a standard non steerable personnel parachute used for
(04:32):
airborne operations. So Mennicans are used early in testing to
avoid risk to soldiers while still giving testers a chance
to measure how the parachute works everything from deployment timing
to landing impact. These rehearsals are critical. Once the gear
passes with mannequins, it moves on to live jumps with
real paratroopers. It's all about making airborne operations safer, smarter,
(04:54):
and more effective for the soldier on the ground. The
bottom line is Mennikan testing ensures safety, consistency, and technical
accuracy before soldiers ever leave the ramp. Is a critical
part of how the Army keeps airborne operations lethal, survivable
and modern.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Sir, there's something that we like to touch on each
and every week here on the program. We are still
in the fight, so.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
More than one three hundred soldiers are currently deployed around
the world. We have soldiers on the US border and
in Europe, South Korea, South America, Africa, and the Middle East.
Please keep all of our soldiers who are deployed, as
well as their families in your bost and prayers.
