AJ's life has been a rollercoaster ride from his challenging upbringing to his triumphant battle against kidney disease, all while finding solace and humor in the world of stand-up comedy.
Hailing from Dallas, TX, but raised in Oklahoma, AJ faced adversity early on. Despite a rough start, he found stability and support when he was adopted by a loving family during high school. With their encouragement, AJ pursued his passion for football, earning a scholarship to Oklahoma State University.
However, AJ's life took a drastic turn when he was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure in 2016. Despite the gravity of the situation, AJ initially struggled to accept the reality of his condition, continuing his lifestyle without making necessary changes. It wasn't until a year later, after experiencing the harsh realities of dialysis and the loss of his twin brother, that AJ realized the need for a transformation.
In 2020, amidst his battle with kidney failure, AJ discovered the therapeutic power of comedy. Using social media as an outlet for his kidney-related jokes, AJ gained a following and eventually ventured into stand-up comedy. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, AJ's determination led him to Phoenix, where he embarked on his comedy journey.
In June 2022, AJ received a life-saving kidney transplant, marking a turning point in his life. With renewed health and purpose, AJ is committed to using his platform to raise awareness about kidney health and organ donation, while also providing support to those facing similar challenges.
