Je verwacht het op het eerste gezicht misschien niet. Maar van zodra John Crombez ook maar de kans krijgt om te spreken over muziek, verraden zijn glinsterende ogen onmiddellijk dat ik met een héél gepassioneerde liefhebber te maken heb. Ondanks dat hij de afgelopen decennia verschillende topfuncties in de nationale politiek bekleedde (SP.A-voorzitter, staatssecretaris voor Fraudebestrijding), hield de West-Vlaming met veel plezier ruimte vrij om toch maar te kunnen spelen bij rockband SevZero. Idealiter met een van zijn Fender Stratocasters in de hand, terwijl door de versterker hits van Pixies, Joy Division of ander gitaargeweld uit de jaren 80 of 90 weerklinkt. Zijn mooiste en opvallendste momenten als muzikant bundelen we samen in deze aangename babbel.
Komen verder aan bod: de soms moeilijke combinatie van muziek en politiek, zijn enorme adoratie voor voormalig Pixies-bassiste Kim Deal (en hoe hij haar bijna ontmoette), samen optreden met Willy Willy… en we luisteren naar Punk Last, het allereerste nummer dat John ooit schreef.
