On this episode, Ameé speaks with Emily Stroia. Emily is a personal mentor for women, meditation teacher, author and speaker. When Ameé first had a chance to speak with Emily, she said something that actually made her skin tingle. And that was when Emily’s abusive father passed away a few months ago, Emily’s first thoughts were peace, not sadness.
This is not uncommon but yet people don’t feel safe sharing that or even understanding it. Some in our culture demand empathy and compassion for all, and that an abuse victim is not allowed to feel or express anything other than that. But, that line of thought invalidates the real and honest feelings that come with finally being set free from a person who challenged your sense of safety and self worth. And so bringing that subject up and out of the dark, so that we can hopefully remove the shame and stigma of this topic.
