(00:09):
Hey, Justin, we're we're being somewhat responsible this time.
Are we? Yeah.
Like we're, we're, we're, we said we're going to do this
episode to try and get ahead of the curve on our episodes.
And, and we, and we did it the last like 3 times or so that we
did this or tried to do this, something, something fell
through. So we're finally here.
(00:30):
More like someone fell asleep and that someone was me.
Well, well, that didn't stop us from recording an episode.
We absolutely still recorded an episode without your ass.
As you should. Yes, I was not, you know, I was
not going to sit here and cancelthe whole recording when there's
a perfectly good Devin sitting there to do it with me.
So. Shout out to Devin.
Shout out to Devin for waking upwhen he was called.
(00:52):
Unlike me. Highly unlike you.
Yeah, my badge. Had a vice grip on me that
night. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So what? So we're in here and Justin,
Justin, thank you for joining methis time so that we could
discuss these episodes this week.
I am I'm looking forward to hearing what you've got to say
(01:15):
this time because it's been a couple of weeks.
Anyway, outside of me missing last week, you've you've missed
at least one other week before that.
So I am interested to see how this one plays out for, for our
discussion because you did choose a hell of a week to come
back. It's true you chose a hell of a
couple weeks to miss as well. So so so let's jump into it
(01:40):
here. You want to read the summary for
episodes 848 to 450. Sure, all right, whatever.
We returned to the scene of our Straw Hat friends fleeing from
Big Mom and in the Seducing Woods as they all duck, dive,
weave, and dodge Big Mom's attacks.
Sanji heads off with Pudding andshe phone to Chocolate Town so
they can get to work taking thatwedding cake on the Sunny.
(02:03):
Chopper and Brooke valiantly fend off against waves of Big
Mom Pirates, but bite off a little bit more than they can
chew after they challenge pair of Sparrow and are eventually
subdued. Thankfully, before too long,
Luffy and Co make it back to theship in the nick of time to
start turning things around. Despite things looking up
though, the Straw Hats are stillvery much in danger.
Carter Curry has Luffy occupied,Pero Sparrow has locked down
(02:25):
both Pedro and the Sunny itself, and Amanda is closing in on
their location with an Armada oftart ships ready to fire at
will. Oh, and Big Mom is bunching on
the stern too. Pedro makes a noble SEC excuse
me makes a noble and heartfelt sacrifice to secure the Straw
Hats escape and Luffy drags himself into mirror worlds with
Carter. Korean tow guys, gals and non
(02:46):
binary pals. I hope you're all ready to
witness Luffy's hardest encounter to date and possibly
one of the greatest fights and shown in history commence.
You know, it seems like half of that last statement can can
possibly be true, but the first half is just blatantly untrue.
What do you mean? Calling calling Luffy's hardest
encounter to date Katakuri, it seems to really just spit in the
(03:09):
face of what he just went through with Big Mom.
I mean like I don't know, in my head I'm just like yo if Luffy
was given enough time to hit BigMom good or or good enough he'd
beat her. But like he can't even hit
Katakuri so he doesn't even get the chance to hit Gooder.
He went he he has already tried to use gear 4 on her and have it
(03:30):
not work. What's I believe?
I believe in the potential for Luffy TO1V1 big mom.
She's just a big she's just a big gal with possibly
indestructible skin. All right, but I believe Luffy
can just sound or ring her bell hard enough, hard enough to, you
know, do do the thing. But what's he going to do
against Mochi Mochi guy who can predict the future and just be
like, Nah, we've we've we've. That is an incredibly hot take.
(03:53):
I don't understand where you're getting this confidence from.
I just feel like, like I, I don't know in my brain if I had
OK so if I'm in a fight and my and there's two types of porn,
two types of opponents. 1 opponent I literally can't hit
and the other opponent I just can't seem to hit hard enough in
my shoes. I'm convinced that if I just hit
the guy who takes who just eats my punches enough times, he will
(04:17):
fall down eventually. Like it's really just can I keep
hitting him before he gets tiredor I just like hit the right
spot or hit the right spot over and over again to like make a
weak point right? If I'm fighting someone and I
can't even touch him, bro, I've already lost the the mental game
shattered my my psyche obliterated.
It's over. I'm just, I'm just wasting
energy at that time. I mean, on a very base level,
(04:41):
you're, you are, your logic means something because this is
the sort of same trend that is used across a lot of anime where
you just hit the iron wall untilyou put a crack in it and and
then you hit that crack over andover again.
I I understand that fundamentally, but because this
(05:03):
is, this is One Piece and and this is Luffy, it just seems
like with enough Luffy's going to upgrade his hockey or
something in, in some sense, probably to be able to keep up
with Katakuri's or he's just going to go faster to the point
where Katakuri's observation can't keep up.
That's, that's, that's where I'mat.
(05:23):
I guess we'll see now it's just it's just kind of a mirror match
with the mochi, mochi versus gumgum and mochi does seem on paper
to be a little bit more potent than than gum gum.
The problem is just that Katakuri also has higher levels
of observation. So the fight is going to be fun.
I am looking forward to it. That being said, I I want to see
(05:46):
more of Katakuri doing things that aren't just.
He uses observation hockey to predict things I like.
He's got this big, this big coolass weapon too, which I'm
excited to see if that has any special properties to it or if
it's just a weapon that he likesusing outside of beans.
(06:06):
So I I am looking forward to this.
I want to see what Katakuri's got it up his sleeve here,
because I'm sure it's got he's got more than just mochi mochi.
I want to see the special properties of it outside of he
does stretchy arm also and also typical logia stuff.
You know, I was going to proposesomething because in my head, I
(06:28):
in my head, I was like, oh, thisis a really cool, unique idea.
However, I'm afraid that my unique idea will come true and
it's going to read as a spoiler. And I just don't want that smoke
right now. I just want peace.
That you're that confident in your your prediction, huh?
Maybe not confident but more so like OK is my quote UN quote
prediction actually just a spoiler that I don't remember
(06:50):
remembering? I see, so this is really about
you not even be being able to trust your own memory.
How can I trust myself? How do I know if I've seen or
not seen something and I'm just giving myself credit?
Like, is this an original thought that I just actually
came up with or was this someoneelse's homework?
(07:12):
And I said, who are you? This is mine.
Or did you suppress this? Yeah, not too.
Yeah. Well, with that being said, I
think it's probably safe that you just keep your mouth shut
and don't and don't say anything.
Yeah, I agree. When you put it like that, yeah,
I don't want to hear shit from you.
(07:32):
Being me, it's so much harder than it ever should be.
It's a great thing. For once, Brendan's not here.
Why did Why did God make me thisway?
That's because there is no God. Fuck, that means I do this to
myself. That's fucked.
Up it is yeah. The the harsh truth is that you
you are the owner of your own destiny, of your own memory, of
(07:54):
your own undoing. But anyway, before we get to
talking about the events that happened at the end of these
episodes, we've got some stuff to cover from the beginning and
middle a little bit here. So let's rewind ourselves just a
little bit to the I guess I mean, I mean, there's the
beginning of 848 where we deal with the aftermath of last
(08:18):
week's episode cliffhanger in the Ekoku sovereignty.
And I just got to say we don't really get much out of it.
But seeing the scene again it still annoys me.
And I I think I briefly mentioned this with Devin but
not enough as much as I wanted to that they have that scene of
the Ekoku shooting and then the magic carpet is flying away and
(08:43):
Sanji is actively falling away from it.
Except at the end of last episode he manages to magically
grab it even though the animation suggests he's falling
far far away from it. And seeing it again annoyed me
once again. And I just had to put that out
there because this was a great opportunity for for for I don't
(09:05):
know, more conflict or potentially Sanji just dying in
a giant, giant based attack. And that would have been OK with
me or at least being severely injured.
You know, something, something along those lines would have
been great. But but no, we, we, we, we had
no consequences for this animation error and we just move
on with our lives. That's crazy.
(09:27):
I, you know, I, I got to ask though, before we get too far
away, what Maybe we rewind a little bit farther and I ask you
what you thought of the last basically 6 episodes that you
have missed up to this point. That's wow.
I'm, I'm really embarrassed. I really wish you didn't ask me
that because. I.
Don't. Remember, you hate it.
(09:48):
I don't remember 6 episodes ago,like 6 to 3 or 4 whatever and I
did not watch the last three episodes.
So OK well so the so 6 episodes ago, basically we're dealing
with the Tamati box blowing up and destroying the Chateau and.
I love that. I love that.
(10:08):
That was great. OK, I tamati box the best side
plot character ever in my life. Loved it.
Shout out to big news. Morgan's not being able to fly.
Not sure how he's going to live since Stussy apparently
abandoned him. So that's going to be
interesting how we figure that out.
I was very, very, very surprisedto find out that the whole
(10:31):
wedding platform or whatever youwant to call it, exactly a
tower, was it already made out of cake like that was that was
actual like brick and mortar? That that was the the thing they
were standing on when they were going to do their vows.
That was the actual cake, but the the normal whole cake
Chateau itself. What you're talking about wasn't
is not actually cake. Yeah.
(10:52):
I think my brain just assumed itwas made out of cake and I.
Definitely also would have assumed that.
Yeah, I don't think that's a farfetched statement to make.
Whole Cake Island is in fact, not made of whole cake.
But but now it is. But also in that moment.
But it's cake now. I literally, I don't know if it
was said on that episode's recording by Devin or it was
(11:12):
brought up the week prior, but when Devin said oh God, it's
it's just fucking like 2007 again.
It's like, is it cake or is it not?
I'm. Like is a lie.
I. Was like bro this this this
rings so true in this exact moment.
The cake is a lie. Cake is a lie, bro.
That should be that should be a fucking like drinking game or
like a quiz game. Just someone watches or like
(11:33):
flash forwards through Whole Cake Island and they just go is
it cake or not? And then, you know, I don't
know, something gets destroyed and they're like, it is indeed
cake. It's more like, yeah, you can
call the game is it cake? But really it's more like, is it
food I guess. Is it food?
Very, very few things are actually made cake there.
A lot of things are made of different types of food though.
(11:55):
The roads are made out of crackers.
Crackers for for for God's sake. And chocolate towns actually
made out of chocolate, which I love.
And and chocolate towns all. They basically all made of
chocolate. Exactly so.
Chocolate clones is still a weird technology to me, but I I
I don't hate it. Yeah, I, I mean, I kind of hate
it as someone who who, who runs pretty hot.
(12:17):
So I just. I just don't want.
Is. Melting all over me.
That is valid. We we also get what what about
Veggie? What's your what?
What's your feel on Veggie really these days?
Veggie's going high up on the parents here list next time we
come around to it. That's all I'm saying.
Also Veggie just slapping on some tank treads and driving off
was really funny to me. My favorite part of all of that
(12:38):
was the sign that he busts out what's.
Funny to me. Is that in my?
Brain. The way I interpreted that scene
was, oh, he's like helping them out one last time before he
drives off. Because in my head, I'm like,
well, all the show has nothing to do is just not go that way.
And he's just, you know, led theBig Mom Pirates astray, right?
(12:58):
Sure. That's alright.
I was like, hey, he's. Like pretty sure.
Just don't do this and you'll befine.
I'm pretty sure I really, I don't know for certain, but I'm
pretty sure he pointed it in thedirection that the their coast
or their ship is point is, is docked off the coast.
So did that did ultimately does it matter?
No, because they use the the mirror world to just teleport
(13:22):
directly to the ship anyway. But it's it's it's funny
regardless. So I, I was here for it.
Veggie. Veggie is both a serious
character and not he he has these moments and I've I've met,
I've talked about this with Devin in the last few weeks
also, just that he's this very serious build up character.
(13:43):
His back story is he infiltratesthese gangs for just for funsies
basically until he until now. Flash forward, he has a wife and
a kid and he's the biggest teddybear and, and will do anything
to save his family, both chiffon, his kid Pez and his
mafia family as well. So he's he's just a big, he's a
(14:06):
big bit of a softie. You know, he he'll do anything
to to keep his people safe. So I I'm I'm with veggie.
I'm I'm a veggie guy. I like veggie.
And then there was and then there was big daddy.
Big daddy was great. I think that's mostly, that's
mostly a couple weeks ago. Then we then last week we've got
you know, last week was a littlebit uneventful for kind of a lot
(14:29):
of it. I don't really think that that
it kind of sucked in the moment, but every week can't be bangers.
However, last week we got some of the well, first of all, we
got King Balm ripping pieces, myboy, although there aren't even
pieces anymore. He's been completely ashed now
(14:49):
by Prometheus, so there was that.
How do you feel? Because I know how I and Devin
feel about it. How do you feel about Pudding
now? I don't know, I feel like I was
never like truly passionate one way or the other.
I I very much saw the whole, I mean, didn't I predict that she
was just going to like Sandy wasgoing to do some stupid shit
(15:11):
like in this case, just be like, bro, your eyes so pretty and she
would just fumble and be like, you know, maybe, maybe Sanjay is
so bad. I I don't remember if you
specifically predicted that. However, if you did, I
apologize. I probably put it out of my
memory because I didn't want it to be true.
I definitely remember you sayingI was a fool you and that would
(15:31):
be crazy. And if it came here, you'd be
mad because why can't evil womanstay evil woman?
Why evil woman have to like change the to the other side?
I, I just, I, I wanted, I wantedevil to stay evil, especially
because if it, if it, if it meant she was turning, it was
going to be because of Sanji. And that annoyed me most of all
(15:52):
because I'm tired of, I'm tired of Sanji's white knighting stuff
that goes without saying. No, I never.
Stop white knighting. That's the way of.
No, fuck that. I support women's rights and
women's wrongs, but also to support women's wrongs.
I need more evil women out there.
So come on out to work with me here.
Work with me here. More evil women that stay evil.
However I look all all of this that's happening with her now,
(16:16):
because last week is when we getthe impetus for well, I should
say that last week is when we get the the introduction of
this, the two faced pudding. Now we have this Jekyll and Hyde
pudding and we get a little bit of it this week and we'll
probably get it in future weeks as we get episodes of them
finally baking that cake. I had hoped to see some of that
(16:37):
this week, but we didn't get it.So hopefully next week or the
week after that. Interspersed with fights between
Luffy and Katakuri of course. However, I'm I still hate that
Pudding is so smitten with Sanji.
I think it's completely unearnedand I hate it.
(16:58):
And also she's 16. I just want to remind the
audience once more, so I hate this.
However I'm being given, I'm being given the barest crumbs
right now of my original hope inthat she would still be evil.
She's got it's still there inside where the potential is
(17:19):
there. However, I will not be allowed
to come fully out because Chiffon is here now and keeps
course correcting her say oh what are you doing?
That's not what you mean at all. That's not what we're doing
here. And then she goes back to
embarrassed putting red faced pudding that is that just wants
to be with Sanji. So you know, it's better than
(17:42):
it's better than her just being completely smitten with him all
the time, every every hour of the time that they're together.
But it's still not the best casescenario for me.
So I I'll take I'll take what I can get.
I look forward to seeing shenanigans in the kitchen,
hopefully as they bake this cakeand see what goes on.
That's my best hope right now for the scenario.
For power, cuz that that little moment of sunshine she got this
(18:06):
week where she just so they're leaving the woods.
Excuse me. And you know, the woods are
rearranging themselves to confuse, you know, people were
running through it. And she can see like that the
aerial view of like, oh, no, just like follow me.
And when she just fucking like massive spider finger lasered
each homie in the forehead and said, hey, here, here, relive a
(18:27):
memory either really traumatic or really great.
It's RNG. Have fun.
And they just like, you know, all the homies just kind of get
stuck in their thoughts. I was like, that's, that's
crazy. That is a crazy that like the
the power itself is like whatever, but it was like the
the way it was animated or portrayed just just go in like
Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew with like mind lasers or whatever.
(18:47):
I don't know. That was cool.
I liked it. I, I, frankly, I think Pudding
could be one of the, you know, as much as again, I, I dislike
that she's on our side. I think at this point, she's
here, she could be one of the biggest weapons against Big Mom
in the 1st place. This is, this is a mental
attack. We can.
We already know. This is how we OK, OK, yes, OK,
(19:10):
yes, yes, yes, whatever you're going to say.
I probably already agree. Pudding joins the ship, joins
the crew. Well, as I predicted, like not
that or big of the year or whatever.
She's she's a meal ship. When we run back Big Mom Luffy
round two put his to be integralbecause OK so we can't beat a
big mom with with fisticuffs. Apparently we're going to hit
her with a psychic damage bro. Yes, we just, we hit her in the
(19:31):
mental game, dude. She's got impenetrable skin, but
her mind and her mind palace is extremely susceptible to damage.
She's a child still. She has the mental capacity of a
small child still. She's never grown out of that.
So we just attack her in the brain and all it takes is dude,
(19:52):
OK dude, what if I maybe, maybe it doesn't really make sense
because Big Mom technically doesn't remember this, but what
if Pudding could unlock the portion of Big Mom's memory
where she realizes she ate all of those people?
What if, what if pudding could unlock the real memory that
(20:13):
instead of her eating the semla the the entire time, she at one
point was eating her friends andalso what was her name?
Mother. Mother.
Caramel ODA. Someone got ODA on the phone
right now. Somebody got ODA on the phone.
If this hasn't already happened,if I'm not predicting something
that does happen, then we need to put this in.
(20:34):
This needs to this needs to go in facts because because I like
really, really though, pudding is one of the strongest counters
right now to big mom because we can do psychic damage and so
much of it. Probably even if we don't go
that dark, I think that's the best case scenario.
But even if we don't go that dark, we just you can make you
(20:55):
can show her memories of, I don't know, mother caramel again
or something like that and have maybe have it have the same
effect that breaking the portrait does, because she just
gets so emotional reliving the memory that she's acceptable now
to punch instead of using a fucking rocket launcher.
We just we just we just third gear her ass or something.
(21:16):
You know, I, I think that I think if we're going to have
pudding, then we need to, we need to utilize her more because
that, that little showcase of her power was, was all I needed.
That could honestly be her only other power besides just like, I
don't know, go and knuckle deep in someone's brain and that's
enough honestly. Yeah, yeah, we were.
We rewrite her memories and I don't know that she got a
(21:36):
wedding cake in the 1st place. I don't know.
It's kind of unclear how her howher memory overwriting power
works, if she can manufacture a fake one or she has to pull
from. Just like she has to copy paste
from someone else. Yeah, like, I don't, I don't
know. I don't know how it works, man.
So if she can just fabricate a memory, then it feels as though,
(22:00):
yeah, we could just, if we wanted to just end the hunger
pang. We get her close, we have her
rewrite the memory and just be like, hey, you, you ate that
cake already. It was delicious.
And she goes, oh, well, shit. All right.
And also straw hats, our friend, not food.
And you go, oh, so I, I would like to see putting power
utilized more. Will it happen?
Probably not. But I get older on the phone.
(22:22):
Not if we get older on the phone.
Now they, you know, they just started up the, the, the current
arc again. So maybe it would have been more
if we had been in this part of the arc when they were still
doing the Fishman retelling. That would have been more
effective. But who knows?
We can always get him on the horn.
Send him an SBS listen man. Japan utilizes its animators
(22:46):
like slave labor. It's fine.
We can, we have plenty of time. They'll have that episode and
that plot line inserted in like a week tops.
Not even. But Justin there in the future.
Well, I'm predicting that Big Mom Round 2 hasn't happened yet.
I'm banking on that, that that is very vital and crucial to our
(23:06):
entire plan here. Yeah.
I mean, it seems, it seems pretty likely that we've got no
way, right. We we had a whole coup de burst
at the end there. Yeah, like they're, they're
soaring, they're flying. They, they are, they're
honestly, I when I was watching that, I was like.
Soaring. What I mean, did Frankie install
like wings or whatever for like the occasional sky island trip?
(23:30):
I don't remember. I feel like I saw the sunny in
like sky island form, but I might have made that up in my
brain. I don't.
Think so this. I don't think the sunny has
wings, I think they just they just fly off into the sunset.
I feel like Frankie should have if he hasn't already installed.
Like just gliding wings on the sunny.
It could be helpful. You definitely travel farther
(23:52):
and probably make a landing a little easier.
Also you. Know when Frankie gets back, We
we got, we got to talk, we got to we got to make some upgrades.
Yeah, we'll send the letter to ODA about using Pudding's
powers, and we'll send a letter to Frankie about put installing
some wings on the on the Sunny. Yeah, these are good ideas.
I'm gonna, I'm gonna write thesedown for later.
(24:12):
Oh, yeah. So Brooke and Chopper got the
hands off. OK, before they got got by Pero
Sparrow, I was kind of impressedthat both, but mostly Chopper
were given a moment to shine. Chopper was putting that work.
He was. He was Kung Fu poem Kung Fu
pointing all over the place. Yeah, yeah, against, against
nobodies come. On.
(24:35):
I don't, I don't know, man. I mean, I like Chopper.
I like Chopper. Chopper is cute, but man is it
just so he doesn't do anything. He's just, he's just there to be
cute and and bandage people up when they're damaged.
I'm not going to. Lie.
He's not fighting. Anyone important when when Paris
(24:56):
Barrow gets to both of them and he starts encasing both the
inside and outside of Chopper and Candy?
I legit had a moment of like, Ohmy God, they're gonna kill
Chopper. Ohh, I mean you're, you're
insane. First of all, that's.
Right, because you know, I know the future.
Spoiler choppers fine. I I know the I know the present
and Chopper makes them fucking money.
(25:18):
That Chopper makes fucking merchmoney dude.
But yeah that moment I was like bro imagine this is how we end
choppers story. My man dies in one of the most
brutal ways possible on screen. Yeah.
It is very visceral. After that happened and he in
Parisboro and cases Brooke aftermy brain was like, oh, no,
(25:38):
Chopper's fine because he's going to try and case Brooke and
you know, he's but like Brooke doesn't have to worry about
like, I don't know, breathing orwhatever.
He's gonna remember he's a fucking skeleton.
So that he's just going to do some swordsmanship, break out of
the candy, and then save Chopper.
And then you know how we get this pair of Sparrow?
I didn't get that far in my thinking.
I was just like, Brooke's gonna save Chopper.
Don't worry, brother. And that's not how that played
out, but it would have been really cool if it did.
(25:59):
No, it is not. In theory, it would stand to
reason that Brooke doesn't need to breathe because he he also
technically doesn't need to eat either.
He just kind of does it for fun and also can taste still for
some reason. So yeah, it stands to reason
that probably Brooks should be fine.
(26:19):
He's just encased in amber as ifhe were a family and and all
that. Or I guess more like there are
certain species of, I think frogs and other woodland
creatures that can freeze when they get frozen and literal ice
or they can they slow their processes down so much that they
(26:39):
they live through that. I think it's frogs.
There might also be bugs that can do it too.
But either way, there there are some animals or creatures out
there that do this stuff. And it feels like Brooke would
just be the same way. He's encased in candy, sure, but
he doesn't actually need to breathe.
So whenever he's freed, he's like, fine.
So it would stand to reason. But yeah, when Pero Sparrow is
describing how the candy can thecandification would happen into
(27:06):
into candy man's first of all, fucking weirdo.
Because he goes, I'm going to I'm going to turn you into a
candy man, and then I'm going tolick you.
Oh OK dude. I missed that part of the line.
Jesus Christ. Oh, yeah, he, he says it like
two or three times. He's like, I'm going to turn you
guys into candy, man, and then I'm going to lick you and I'm
like, stop. Please.
Stop, stop. I don't.
(27:26):
I know you got, I know you got big tongue and you go lick.
Lick and your name. Just literally means lick, lick
or something to that effect. I just need, I need you to do
not on this one, this one occasion, please.
Yeah, cease and cease. You know, I I just don't.
I'd stop. But yeah, when he's describing
how you're going to be candifiedboth on the outside and it's
(27:48):
going to flood into you harden and you're just going to
suffocate and die, I'm like, holy shit, that's dark.
It's never going to happen, of course.
But watching Chopper have the cane, the liquid candy flow into
his mouth as he's crying out of desperation and help because
he's he thinks he's about to die, which in a in a bolder
anime would actually have happened.
(28:10):
Very, very nuts. Terrible, terrible way to die.
He's like, it takes it takes only only three minutes and I'm
like, bro, they're suffocating for three minutes straight.
That's torture. That's this is not an only three
minutes scenario here. That's a long 3 minutes.
(28:31):
That's rough. Yeah.
But anyway, I will say on a lighter note in regards to this,
there was part of me because Chopper's such a fan of sweets
and he ate all of the cream and stuff in the river and inside
the sharks emerge. Part of me was wondering, what
if they just let Chopper eat thecandy and just at the the
(28:51):
candy's continually flowing intohis mouth and he's just I'm,
I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm eating it instead.
And that's how he just breaks out of the situation.
I'm not going to lie to you. I think I thought that for about
a fraction of a second. And then I just saw Chopper just
not locked in enough. I was like, Nah, I'm a boy, my
boy. Don't.
Got it? Kind of got that Luffy in him,
you don't got that. Luffy if Chopper was just in a
(29:13):
in a better mental state I thinkhe could have pulled it out
potentially. Yeah, yeah, give him the cracker
treatment. Eat his eat his way through the
food based Devil fruit. Yeah, it was it was nice to see
that they were getting a little bit more spotlight.
I mostly care for Brooke. I don't really care that much
(29:33):
for choppers spotlight in this case, just because we got to see
Soul King do its thing again. They're ultimately still just
fighting small fry and not really any of the big fishes.
But I like, I like seeing Brooke's Devil Fruit shine a
little bit more. Choppers just kind of bores me
at this point because he doesn'tjust do anything new anymore.
That's fair. Sad but.
(29:54):
There's no there's there's no build on add on to what he's
what he's got. You know, it was cool initially
post time skip seeing him be able to control when to go form
and and and use that. I don't know why we're not using
it here. Maybe he doesn't have any
rumbles on them or something. I just, I feel like we could
have gone Wendigo mode here and that would be that would be very
(30:16):
useful. But whatever, man.
So I yeah, it was it was cool. I don't I don't mind it.
I wish I wish Brooke hadn't gotten gotten handed in another
L in this arc, but whatever. Whatever, dude.
One day, bro, one day. So, yeah, after after we get
that scary scene, Luffy Co and Big Mom come out the forest,
(30:39):
Pero Sparrow starts or attempts to, you know, stop them in their
tracks with candy. Iron Maiden, which was kind of
kind of sick. It was pretty sick.
And then Luffy punches his way through the problem with a fat
red hawk that just melts the candy.
That was actually really cool. There's also like they put they
put some budget into that one, put a little bit of budget,
(30:59):
sprinkle a little bit of it in there.
We make our way onto the ship. I, I blinked.
I guess I don't know how Pera Sparrow ended up in the water on
like a floating piece of candy. Like, how did he get pushed off
the ship? That's that's that's really my
question. He didn't.
He said fuck this shit. I'm out and then like, OK,
great, beautiful. Yeah, he he he wanted initially
he wanted no part of this. It was it was kind of strange.
(31:22):
I I don't remember the specific order of events anymore.
I think when he's still on the ship, he candy maidens and then
Luffy punches through it, I believe is how it goes.
And then they get distracted again because Big Mom's coming
up. And then he goes, well, I don't
want any, I don't want any part of this.
And specifically Big Mom's hunger pang.
(31:44):
And he, he dumps a, a, a, a boatload of candy into the water
and then stands out of them, floats away.
But then he decides he does wantto be part of this again.
And he he makes the candy wall underneath the Sunny and
prevents them from initially being able to coot a burst.
So Harris Barrow's motivations are a little shaky in these
(32:05):
episodes, but you know, whatever, I guess I, I question
this has probably been called into question a couple of times
over the course of this this show.
But if what he's standing in hissea water.
It feels like I, I mean, we've, we've run into this again, we've
run into this problem where we've, we've complained about
this, where. Oh, OK, the devil fruit use are
(32:27):
in the water. No goo they get they get wonky,
they get weak whatever they can't use their front their
power. But in this case where you have
the like a manifestation of the power come into contact with
seawater, it isn't affected for it's just seems to be the rule.
We ran into this most notably back in marine Ford, right with
(32:52):
Mr. 3 making a key for the the manacles that were made of C
prism stone. So that one I think was maybe
more egregious because it's it'sstill his finger, like it's
still attached to him, but we get to do this.
This one is out of perhaps more more excusable because it's no
longer connected to para Sparrow.
(33:13):
It just exists as its own entity.
It's basically just candy at that point.
So I don't know, man, It's it's,it's fuzzy sometimes it's not
fuzzy other times. I'm not that.
I'm just not, I'm not that caught up on it.
I just feel like it would be remiss if me to not bring it up
as another instance of this in case it does become a problem
later or something that we pay attention to later.
(33:34):
I can point to this and go, well, what the fuck about this
ODA and then and, and keep that.So I'm filing this part.
I'm filing this away in case I need to to shove this in OTA's
face when we write write anotherletter to him and, and give him
some criticism on, on on his power, his power scaling or
whatever. Me and Devin have been joking
that Big Mom is is really Godzilla mode right now and it
(33:59):
can still be a problem. I'm not saying it, it can't be.
But we were worried that in these moments where Big Mom is
chasing after the the 1000 Sunnythat she would start walking
through the water like any Godzilla movie.
And that was good. We were we were we were getting
pre mad about it. We were getting we were getting
(34:20):
pre mad last week thinking aboutsomething like that, but but
also funny because Godzilla Big mom go Burr, but annoyed and and
and mad because well, she's in contact with seawater.
So I don't know dude. The other problem with this is I
feel like the catch all that I'mgoing to get from from people
(34:41):
that anyone that want to potentially argue this is that
they're going to say something like, oh, well, the water, the
seawater isn't actually seawater.
It's it's orange juice or whatever, you know, because some
of the waters in between these islands is just fucking, it's
just fucking juice. They call it juice, but so I'm
like, but is it all juice? Like is it not just seawater
(35:01):
mixed with the apple juice or whatever?
The fucking whatever, whatever concoction you want, it can't
possibly be 100% lime juice. You know, you know you.
You're bringing up a question inmy brain.
So now that we introduce Strusenand his power, and I'm going to
make the very, very bold claim. That.
Maybe food islands and apple juice ocean doesn't naturally
(35:24):
occur. I'm going to yeah, I'm going to
go out on a limb and say those don't naturally occur either.
We. Could be very much wrong because
it's one piece, but I'm going tomake that claim very boldly.
And so if I make that assumption, my only next thing
is to think Distrusen happened, which would be really cool.
But also, can he do that? Can he just go dip my sword into
this emotion and be like, go go magic juice?
(35:51):
Yeah, I didn't think of that. I don't know, dude.
I you know, as much as I hate toadmit it, it it could be
possible You. Know what that's another that's
another SPS question. I got soda Hey to like Distrusen
make the water juice in whole cake island area.
Or is that just like naturally occurring because you said so I
I really, I really need to know that's a good.
(36:15):
Point Well, I you know the the only explanation we've gotten
for Strusen's power is that he can turn non food objects into
food. So can we does food?
Are we combining food and drink here together?
Can can we turn non drink items into drink or random others
(36:36):
things into drink also? Does that count?
I don't we don't, I don't know. We don't know at this point.
But if it's true, then it would,it would provide a valid in
world explanation for it not being seawater.
I guess that's that's that's true.
I didn't think of that. Well, hopefully, hopefully at
some point in the future, we canmaybe answer that question.
(36:57):
It might not be relevant becauseagain, we might not have this
Godzilla big mom moment, but it would be fun If we don't ever if
we don't, if we don't ever get an answer in this arc, then
perhaps we we consider writing up another letter to ODA and
see, you know, it's possible it gets answered in the the farther
future, but who knows? Maybe it's a question for
(37:18):
Brendan later post arc. All right.
So where are we? So we get on the ship.
Luffy is, you know, stand off with Katakuri.
Pero Sparrow is fighting mostly Pedro.
I think everyone's kind of back on the ship again.
The pair of sparrows, a strong word for what they're doing.
Pedro was trying. Pedro was.
Trying. Yeah, the pair of sparrows,
(37:40):
like. All right, cool.
So I'm gonna lock you up with some candy.
I'm also gonna freeze the ship. Ostensibly in candy.
And then somehow I forgot what happened.
Exact. Oh, right.
Big Mom went munch, munch on theship.
So she knocked out one of the cola barrows.
And that put, you know, dampen some plans blowing off until the
sunset. Yeah.
That seemed, I, I look, it seemed like obviously they want
(38:02):
to build more tension in the moment, but to me, the little
bit of rocking that that Big Momdid didn't feel like it should
have been enough to knock out one cola thing.
And if it's going to knock out one, why is it knocking out all
of them really so? My very bullshit explanation is
(38:23):
Nami had to put in a lot of upper body strength to lift
those barrels. Wait, hold on.
No, because wait. Actually, no, wait, I think
you're right. I think the one that was knocked
out was the one Nami had put there originally.
So take. Care of the rest, right?
Yeah, so I mean, so you know. Maybe not.
Feminist. We throw Nami under the bus and
(38:44):
say like she just she, she didn't.
Push it. Yeah.
She didn't push it in far enough.
She she was having she she was lucky enough to get it up there
and begin with, and she had to do it three more times.
Thank God Kara showed up. Yeah.
So that happened. Pedro gets gets caught, and then
we get like, yeah. Interesting flashback montage
within Pedro's mind of 1. He meets Gold Roger 'cause he
(39:05):
Gold Roger. Showed up because because
everyone has met Gold Roger thatisn't Luffy.
So in some way, somebody, somebody important to the plot,
has met fucking Gold Rodger at some point.
Everyone except Luffy has met Gold Rodger and everyone except
Luffy has met his father. Yes, exactly.
Honestly, if we didn't already know who the father was, I would
(39:26):
have been like, it was Gold Roger his.
Father's Child. Yeah.
Because we also do that outline thing where Luffy's doing
something or running somewhere. Like we get in these episodes
and you get this overlay of GoldRoger's form too, and the
obvious. Everyone is trying to push his
oh, they're so similar. And also they they do the same
things and all the same values and kind of look the same.
(39:46):
It's all these things. So we do that he he you know
little she be baby Pedro was kind of cute.
He's heartbroken by the the the death of gold Rodger encourages
him to set sail because he wantsto see the world.
We have some flashback to the scene of him being, I guess,
driven back to Zoe after escaping execution from Big Mom,
(40:10):
and he goes on to explain that the reason he named his.
True, the Knox pirates is cause Paris goes look who doesn't Knox
me knight, which is like I thinkGreek in this instance, right?
And he goes well, not exactly. It could also mean before the
dawn. And he goes on and says like,
oh, he wants to be like a precursor or be someone who can
(40:35):
assist in bringing the dawn to the new world or to the world,
whatever. Very vague, don't know what that
means. And then in his flashback when
he took like during his little moment of telling Carrots to go
help out on the ship, he says toher, hey, I have a suspicion
that the Straw Hats are going tobe an integral part of this
prophecy that the Minx and the Kazuki clan believe in.
(40:57):
I don't know if we've mentioned this before.
Is this like brand new information or was this brought
up in any type of vagueness prior to this episode?
I believe so it, it is it in some capacity has been
mentioned. I don't remember if so
explicitly it has been mentioned, but I, I do believe
that in some way we've discussedthis idea that there is a, a
(41:21):
person or there is a, there, there will be a movement at some
point to bring about this new new Dawn.
Because the, the flashback that Pedro has with Cat Viper, we saw
that, that I'm, I, I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that.
That's not just a random memory of pagers that we're seeing for
the first time. I'm, I'm fairly confident we've
(41:42):
seen that scene before. If not that specific scene, then
a different one of him and Cat Viper before they left, before
they left. So basically discussing the same
thing. So yeah, I, I, this sounds, this
sounded familiar to me. I was not necessarily surprised
to hear this. Gotcha.
Gotcha. OK, so there's that.
And is there something else I'm forgetting?
(42:02):
Failures of detail I was going to bring up and then I forgot
about it. But yeah, Pedro just goes on and
says ago like there's there's like this bigger picture beyond
me and oh, banger line for my for my quote leader.
I'm going to say now when Paris Bros just kind of like
interrogate him, like, oh, why'dyou like, what what's your
purpose in life? Like, what are you going to do
now that you're alive with, you know, 50 years cut from it?
(42:23):
He's like, man, I just want to be able to choose where I die.
And then we flash forward to present and he's like, damn, I
was really hoping I get to, you know, ride out a little longer
to see the dawn or whatever, butI guess this is where I got to
go. He told, he tells cares, like,
Hey, I haven't. I think this is where like my my
journey ends. And I think she questioned it,
but she was like, all right, I'ma follower to get on the ship,
blah, blah, blah. He's going to.
(42:43):
Be fine. Yeah, They they have this first
moment initially where they're standing in front of the ship
before we start doing all this Pedro flashbacking and red
flagging. They have a moment in front of
the ship where Pedro basically is just, he's outlining this
idea of the new dawn, and this is the thing that our people and
the Kozuki's have waited centuries in order to accomplish
(43:07):
or, or see through. And Kara just looks at him and
goes, what? What that made that made me
chuckle. I was I he goes he goes on this
mini rant about all of it and they put the the swelling really
my favorite backing track for these influential moments in the
background. And then Kara just looks at him
(43:29):
and goes, huh, centuries of waiting.
What are you talking about? And then they and then they cut
away or something. And yeah, then we get the rest
of the flashback stuff and we get the music again.
And the music tugs at me every time.
I love that track. So much flashback with Carrot.
We're so fucking cute. I know man.
We're we're carrots like trying to become a what do?
(43:50):
You call it the Musketeer. Yeah, Musketeer.
Thank you. And she's training with Shishi
Leon, who's like, trying to train her in swordsmanship.
And she's just like, not gettingit.
And he's just like, no, you'll get it.
You just got to like, work harder.
Just like basically like just put your nose to the grind or
like keep throwing your head at the wall until you get it.
And Pedro's like, listen man, like there are other ways to
(44:10):
like fight and be useful and blah blah blah.
So he decides to take her under her, his pseudo legend stead.
He gives her the gloves that theneedle gloves that fit her style
with Electro or whatever. Also I'm glad we got that scene
because I just kind of assumed those were like like like a
carrot's hands would change scenes between fighting in
normal hand mode or whatever andI just assumed the whole needle
(44:34):
nail grip Bunny claw thing. It looks like a massive foam
finger was like just the thing she could do.
I did not. I did not know initially that
those were. Like we've seen her put these on
and off before I. Completely forgot about it then.
Yeah, we've we've seen her take these gloves on and off before
in the past. It just feels like she has
(44:55):
normal hands. And then when it's about to
fight, her hands come up from her her waist and go, all right,
I'm ready, like. They're big mode.
Yeah, exactly. I was like, okay, that's just,
that's just the mint thing she can do.
Yeah, yeah. No, it was.
It was nice to see the little the little back story between
between the two of them after which comes which comes after
(45:16):
Pedro decides to make. A very noble sacrifice.
Yeah, yeah, for the second time in this arc, mind you.
This is, you know. What this is the second time he
has tried to do. This with the Darren Tomago.
Forgot that time, but I don't think Pedro survived this one.
(45:36):
No, I'm gonna. Well, we don't.
Know we only see one survivor sofar.
There could be two. Yeah, we still, we still don't
know. No, I can only imagine if he
lives, we have another. What's this guys name?
Such a fucking moment. We get another moment, the
(45:58):
amount of race that Devin is going to walk in here next week.
I know I'm going to be mad. I'm going to be mad too.
That fucking explosion from that, from the string of
dynamite, was bigger than the goddamn Tamathe box that knocked
down the Chateau. Bro, the whole fucking island's
on fire now. Well, the whole coastline is on
(46:19):
fire now. Oh my God.
But I think he might not be. There is there is so much
evidence to prove to us that he's probably fine.
There is a, there is a, there isa nonzero.
There was a high nonzero chance that Pedro is fine.
But I I look, I love Pedro Pedros whole character.
This entire arc has been fun. I enjoyed his character a lot,
(46:40):
but I hope he's dead. You know, I look, I love, I love
my boy Pedro. And as much as I didn't want him
to see him go out like this, I Ihope he's dead.
Are you? Telling me, you know, love this
character enough to to hope and pray and wish upon the stars
that Odor writes in some bullshit Deus Ex machina to
(47:03):
explain why he lives you. You cherish the plot and
continuity of this story more than the life of Pedro.
Yes I do Paul. Paul was a nothing character to
me. The Pedro has Pedros death
carries weight both for me as someone who enjoyed the
character but also the characters in universe.
(47:23):
Karen has this deep connection to him.
He was beloved by the Straw hatsto obviously back on back on
Zoe. If it's caught wind.
If he's actually dead, then there's going to be a lot of
really sad people there. Cat Viper dog, what was his
name? Dog storm.
Thank you and and all the other people, they're, they're going
(47:45):
to be very sad too. And so this this just carries
more consequence here if he doesend up dead.
And I will miss Pedro dearly, but I just I, I value having
having consequence for stuff like this, you know, and and
this it is minorly shown with Pero Sparrow.
Also, given that he's missing anarm.
(48:06):
At least I hope this is I hope this remains consistent because
he talks about candy armor and I'm like, please, for the love
of fuck, don't let this be. Let it have been a candy arm.
And he's just going to like pop his real arm back back out like
he was wearing it like a coat, like the Marines wear their
coats without the arms through them the entire time.
(48:26):
I just like let let Pero Sparrow's arm be gone and maybe
even a leg, because especially the leg that Pedro was gripped
onto. You know, that would be, that
would be great if his left leg was blown away too, but it seems
like that might not necessarily be the case given that he's
standing upright unless for somereason he has great one like
balance. I I just hope that this is a
(48:48):
permanent fixture for Pero Sparrow.
I'd under no circumstances. I think Pero Sparrow was also
going to die, but I'm glad that we're seeing even a little bit
more permanent consequence for something like this.
So find out next week, hopefully, because that happens
that that big boom knocks the Sunny free and they're able to
(49:08):
CUDA burst away. And basically our episodes end
with Luffy dragging Katakuri in some mirror worlds because
Brulee just shows up or whateverreason.
And Katakuri like has the the the prediction of like, no, you
fool, get back in the mirror, you idiot.
You giving him a second of scouts or yeah, you give him
escape. Fuck yeah.
(49:29):
I don't know if we've mentioned or spoke about this before, but
this brought up the question in my mind of so for kind of Curry,
are his like precognition ability similar to like that so
Raven kind of thing where it just happens whenever it
happens? Or does he have to like activate
it? Or because because I'm like, in
my head, I'm just here like if he's able to control it at will,
(49:51):
I would imagine it takes a wholelot of energy of some sort to
keep, to keep that constantly active.
So therefore you should run out of it eventually.
I don't know. It was a question I had in my
mind where I was like, OK, maybemaybe it's kind of like a random
thing where he's like, oh, I only sense I can only see things
in the future if it's like a clear and present danger or, you
know, my hockey just said, so he's OK.
(50:11):
I think you should know about this as opposed to like, oh I
can always see into the future. It right now seems to be the
case that they just sort of happened in these moments where
it feels as though it whatever would whatever would occur would
be pivotal towards the actions that are being taken by both him
or other people in the immediatefuture.
(50:33):
So now that being said, that's the way it seems it can still be
the case that he just always hassome level of observation hockey
on a subconscious level basically activated.
And that's why in these moments,he gets these flashes of what
(50:54):
can happen in the future becausehe we we watch him actively use
it in these episodes as he's fighting Luffy to avoid every
single punch from Luffy. So that's him actively using it
at the very minimum. But it could potentially still
be the case that in some low level way he hasn't activated
enough at all times to that whensomething would occur that would
(51:18):
be pivotal, like Brulee popping through the mirror or Sanji
dodging a bullet or Luffy popping out of the cake.
All of these times that happenedthat it will it will trigger
something for him. So it's too early to tell.
But right now it seems like theyjust sort of, sort of happened.
Makes sense, Makes sense. Maybe we could confirmation in
the coming weeks. I, I love this bit that we keep
(51:40):
going back to where we're just using Brulee over and over
again, especially for the good guys's purposes.
We're just abusing the shit out of Brulee's power here to our
own devices. It's so funny because she just
acts so helpless. She's she's initially this very
overwhelming, daunting characterto get past kind of like Caesar,
(52:05):
Caesar clown has has fallen to the same category where
initially he's very imposing and, and can be a large, large
threat. And now they're just the butt of
a joke every time they're on screen, basically because we've
so handily dealt with them or there's something that we're
holding over them that just letsus manhandle them in whatever
(52:25):
way we see fit. So I I love Brulee popping
through the mirror and Katakuri going you stupid get back in the
mirror what are you doing? And then Luffy uses his brain in
a rare occurrence and and pulls himself, Katakuri and Brulee
back through the mirror in orderto isolate and.
Luffy punches the mirror, leaning back to the Sunny.
(52:47):
So he's a that's really kind of stuck here.
And that scene is so fucking cold, dude.
He just, he just reaches up, shatters the fucking mirror.
We're a lot. You're, we're thinking to
ourself, Luffy said he's going to be back.
So OK, once he fights with Katakuri, hopefully defeats him,
we're just going to jump throughthis mirror.
And then Luffy literally and figuratively shatters that dream
(53:10):
of ours by crushing the mirror and we just go.
He said neither one of us allowed to go back to the ship
prematurely. He said.
I'm not trapped in here with you, you're trapped in here with
me. So I have a lot of questions on
how he plans on getting out of here, but I guess we'll get
there. We get.
(53:31):
There, Yeah. I don't know.
We'll we'll abuse, we'll abuse Brulee's power again at some
point. I'm sure there's another mirror.
We. Yeah, that's it.
That's the option. There's no other option.
I don't I I could not possibly imagine a different one.
What if, What if? And look, we don't.
We don't know what the range on this thing is like we don't know
what what mirror world's capabilities are.
(53:52):
But what if? Uh huh.
The rest of his crew have already CUDA bursted away.
What if he can somehow get in touch with them, confirm that
they've gone away and are on their way to Wano, and we get
Luffy just going through a mirror.
If it goes that long range, if we find a mirror in Wano that he
(54:12):
just goes through and he meets them there.
Because I assume I, I mean, the assumption is probably that
we're going to go to Wano after we deal with Hulk cake, given
that that's how we split the party up.
So I'm just saying if Mirror World has no distance
restriction then that'd be kind of cool right?
For him to just meet them up in Wano instead of going directly
(54:34):
to the ship. That makes sense.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That that that would be a smart
plan that and it has very that has potential.
Yeah, but first we got to deal with Katakuri.
Yeah. And I'm, I'm looking forward to
this. I want to see, I want to see
what Luffy upgrades himself or learns in the course of this
fight in order to to to be a better version of himself.
Because right now, obviously we've already seen it.
(54:57):
He's getting a little outclassedby by Katakuri here.
Little He's getting a little outclassed by Katakuri.
Just a smidge. Just a smear.
A smear of outclassmen do. You have any thoughts about how
you want? So actually no finish what
you're going to say, then I'll ask my question.
Sorry. I was just going to say I, I, I,
I love that kind of Curry's using his observation hockey to
(55:18):
just make the holes in his mochiso that he can't be hit the the
whole time by any of the by any of the Gatling.
Because, because obviously if, if Luffy were to hit him with
hockey reinforced, then it wouldbe doing actual damage.
And it looks like it's the usuallogia thing of, you know, he's
just punching through him. But actually he's just, he's
(55:38):
manually making the holes in himself so that he's not getting
touched because you can observation hockey all the
punches. The sickest rates.
Literally though. So my question was going to be,
do you have, I guess like more or less like how do you want the
fight to proceed? Like do you want Luffy to just
kind of like just like hockey better and it's just like just
regular fisticuffs or does he unveil a new gear that somehow
(56:03):
manages this? Like what what do you what do
you how do you see this going down?
Or rather, how do you want it togo down?
I. I well, I'm going to I'm going
to immediately write off. I don't I don't think there's
there We're not doing another gear.
OK, that's not that's not happening.
That that this soon after we just did gear 4 on interest Rosa
after car you 300 episodes or something without a new gear.
(56:26):
What what if would be crazy thatI mean, it would be it would be
fun, but I think misplaced. I I don't think it belongs in a
fight with with Katakuri. Katakuri is a large obstacle to
overcome. But I I think if we're going to
do another gear, it probably comes against an emperor.
I don't know if it'll be Big Momor some eventual run in with
Kaido or even Blackbeard for that matter.
(56:47):
But yeah, a new gear drop, presumably 5th, would probably
come at a much more impactful moment than just this.
So I'm going to, I'm going to immediately write off new gear
and probably say that I think itwould be right now in my head.
It would be most fun if we saw Luffy's observation hockey get
(57:10):
dialed up a bit more, maybe because we watch him use
armament all the time. So it would be interesting if
maybe we could have him hone on the fly some observation.
OK, maybe take something from what Katakuri's doing.
He can maybe. I don't know how much you can.
Observe by Katakuri. Yeah, yeah.
(57:33):
Like there's probably nothing hecan learn by watching what
Katakuri does, but if he remembers, maybe we get some
flashback to when he was training.
Or something training. He's like, oh by the way, you
also learned this thing they just never learned how to do.
Yeah. Oh, that would be great.
He just. He goes, yeah, There's
observation and there's armamentand Rayleigh's describing them.
(57:56):
And when Luffy's hearing him talk about observation, he's
snoring or just, like, boring. And then Rayleigh just goes and
armament makes you punch better. He goes, Oh my God, yes, yes.
Like hey man, if you get really good you can see the future and
Luffy just not having any of it and he just locks when he says
you could punch go there is like.
(58:18):
I sleep and I wake literally, literally that.
So if we get, if we get some, some dumb flashback like that.
Oh my God. Of of of his time when he was
supposed to be training observation, but he's just
slacking off or punching animalsor making friends with animals
or eating or whatever the case wants to be.
(58:39):
That would be funny. And then he just, he has to
learn it on the fly or somethingto that, no?
This is it. That's correct.
I, I feel like, like I don't know, but I know like that this
is 100% the plot. We did it.
We we, we broke the matrix. This is the plot for some
upcoming episode in the near future.
Yeah, and if not, then we have another letter to write.
(58:59):
Odo too. Odo about.
Oh my goodness, we're cooking today.
We've cooked. Yeah, I think, I think we've
done a fair amount of cooking. Now we just need to do some
baking of a cake. But that's everything, right?
I I think so, yeah. We, we've left, you know, I
guess, I guess really the question I would, I would pose
to you and myself really is outside of outside of this fight
(59:24):
with Katakuri, what else are we doing with Big Mom Pirates here
Are we're probably not out of the woods.
We have to get Sanji back from Chocolate Island some point
after they bake this cake, but we could have burst it away
successfully. It feels like we're clearly not
done, but what happens? What do we do now?
(59:45):
Yeah, what happens outside the mirror?
And also when do we get Sanji back?
But also like how we we bake cake but then how how give cake
to Big Mom? Well, they sort of implied last
week that the Straw Hats would sail towards Chocolate Islands
and then Cake crew would sail another boat with giant wedding
(01:00:07):
cake on it towards them. Because the assumption is that
Big Mom would be tailing the Straw Hat ship and then they
would meet somewhere. The cake.
She would. She would get the cake, eat the
cake, hunger pang over. And also, whatever else it is
that they're going to do this cake, poison it, put sleeping
meds in it, who the hell knows? And then and then hunger pang
over. And, you know, whatever else
(01:00:28):
happens, happens. But now we've got this CUDA
burst thing and there is potentially no way of dealing
with this specific aspect. My only guess here is that Big
Mom is still going through the hunger pang.
And Harris Sparrow, as far as heknows, Pudding has not betrayed
them. So because he will not want to
(01:00:51):
die, he will still attempt to lead Big Mom to Chocolate
Island. And so presumably we the next
set of consequences. Or maybe not consequences, but
the next set of events takes place somewhere, maybe on
Chocolate Island. Maybe they don't cook the maybe
don't bake the cake fast enough.Maybe they do and that sort of
happens. But yeah, As for the actual
(01:01:13):
Sunny and what what they do, yeah, the the the important part
is that they need to get Sanji back.
So who knows? Because they also got to sail
this ship with this cake on it. So is Chiffon and putting it to
do that hurt themselves. But we also have the magic
carpet ride. I don't know.
That's fair. I kind of just want I want I
want baking bits. Like if they don't, if they
don't make what happens in the baking on Chocolate Island
(01:01:36):
funny, I'm going to be disappointed.
I guess we'll hopefully find outsoon.
Yeah, we'll see. I look forward to it yeah.
You know, you know, these these episodes, like I mentioned
earlier and for the listeners that have listened to the last
two episodes, the the last two episodes were a little
lackluster. There were some fun bits to
them, but overall they were not super interesting.
(01:01:56):
But this set, this set of episodes, they, they, they gave,
they gave me something to sink my teeth into a little bit here.
Not even just with Katakuri, butthe, but with Pedro's little
flashback side thing and the noble sacrifice that he made,
the ultimate sacrifice that he has made.
Presumably I, I, I'm here for you.
(01:02:19):
I, I, I was, I'm reminded of a Godfather, quote goes.
Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in.
Hell yeah. And so that's, that's, that's
kind of where I'm at. They were losing me on whole
cake a little bit here and but, but this episodes have given me
a new breath of life. So I, I look forward to seeing
(01:02:42):
some things. Oh, also, OK, I'm going to
rewind a little bit here to whenwe're getting the and this will
be the last thing we can move on.
I was looking at the, what is it, the Oris?
Oris Jackson. Yeah, it's Gold Rogers ship.
Dude, I I completely forgot about it, but no, go go ahead.
Don't you're going to talk about.
What is there? Is there just a giant fucking
(01:03:03):
egg on the ship that was never there before?
Right. Like we we've seen the arrows
coming one other time and I don't remember this.
So it's it's been long enough that maybe it was, but I'm
seeing it now and I don't remember it and I'm going, what
the fuck is that? Yes, that is true.
There is a giant egg or or just an egg.
(01:03:24):
It'll look big. A red and white spotted egg,
Yeah. So it was an egg on the oral
Jackson for whatever reason, andmany, many people have thrown in
their their conspiracy hat to topredict on what the egg is or
why it's there or whatever. I think my favorite answer was
that inside the egg was big news, Morgan.
(01:03:45):
That's a big news Morgan. That egg is a little too big for
for for Morgan's to be inside ofit, but that is funny.
I like that. I could not even begin to tell
you what could possibly be in that egg.
Honestly, my there's so many things in the One Piece universe
that asking myself what's in a big egg and what's going to come
(01:04:06):
out of it, there's too many options.
It's almost, it's almost futile,yeah, it's it's futile, futile,
futile to you and speculate. Almost.
But. Like my brain just wants a
default like oh it's a dragon but like or it's a dinosaur.
Yeah, surely it's not that basic.
I I also my my brain defaulted adinosaur, but I'm I'm also
thinking it can't be that basic right For one piece.
(01:04:29):
Like what's, what's what, what would be like a mythical
creature in the One Piece world that of course Gold Roger of all
people would manage to encounterand be like, I'm going to take a
take and then have a pet insert creature here.
Here's what I came up with and Ihave nothing more specific than
than than these two words. Justin I guess 3 words baby
seeking. OK, you cooked think but then an
(01:04:53):
egg out of water. I don't know, dude.
I all I know is that fishes lay eggs.
I and and and we're talking something unique to one piece
that isn't. I mean, Dragons and dinosaurs
exist in this universe, but in terms of something that's more
one piece for them to just carrying a giant egg around with
I'm I'm thinking, what if that'sbaby Momu?
(01:05:21):
You know what if that's baby Momu, or even worse, the eel
monster thing that later each Shanks his arm.
Bro imagine that was ticking theperson.
Around that would be we we wrapped around on Laboon being
the the whale that Brooks crew was taken care of all this time.
(01:05:42):
What if the eel that it would later each Shanks his arm was
being taken care of, was initially birthed by Michael
Roger and his crew? Yeah.
My, my, my. Money's on a seeking how they
acquired it. No idea why they have it.
No clue what they're going to dowith it.
Fuck if I know, but I'm going togo with seeking.
(01:06:03):
I I my brain says dinosaur or dragon, but that's just kind of
to give an answer. I genuinely could not fathom
something of an original thoughtto as to what this could be.
Yeah. So I, you know, I.
Really like the idea of it beingbig news, Morgan.
I mean, that's fair. Big news.
Morgan's is is a good guess too.I that's that's I should, I
(01:06:26):
shouldn't say not good. It's fun, though, that that egg
is ginormous. It's the size of their ship.
I hope we find out sooner ratherthan later.
We've got to find out at some point, right?
We can't. They can't possibly keep this
from rice Toyota nervous sweating.
All right, Justin, unless you got something else I'm ready to
(01:06:46):
move on. I.
Hope that's it for Mary. Next week we are going to be
covering episodes 8:48 to 8:50. Except no, we're not.
That's this week. That's.
What we just did. So we're going to do 851 to 853.
This one that's at the end. Great beautiful bellissimo
quotes. Honestly, I didn't have pager on
screen. Pedro Pedro had a lot of bangers
(01:07:07):
this week. Yeah, any any any quotes that
involve him talking about the new Dawn and also the other one
that I do ever written down thateveryone gets their turn, which
was his his I did also called laundry give him that.
I I enjoyed, I enjoyed that little, that little snippet as
well, especially when he passes it on to carrot to in their
(01:07:30):
their previous discussions and when he took her under his wing
and so on. So do you have any other quotes
before I give my own? No, no that.
That's basically. I think the only real 1 I had
jotted down was what I said earlier.
But also that line you mentionedis actually really good too.
I have two other quotes, both from 8:48.
The first one is, is is our Bonyboy Brooke towards the beginning
(01:07:54):
of the episode or so, when they're when they're fighting
off people and they're they're being given these moments like
you talked about where they get to shine for a little bit, even
if it's is just against no name goons.
Brooke goes, you have to keep your eyes on the prize baby.
And then he slashes the guy and and he looks at the camera and
he goes. Not that I have eyes myself.
(01:08:17):
I forgot that line, that was a banger.
I love it, but one of the one ofthe better Brooke.
I don't have X body part slash human organ anymore thing so
good stuff, good stuff. Next quote a little bit more
serious coming from our boy Katakuri.
When the Straw Hats emerge from the Seducing Woods and he
(01:08:39):
realizes that they're going to have to contend with Straw Hat
Luffy, he looks at all of his noname goons and he goes get back
to the Mirror world. All of you will just end up
lying at a speed in a few seconds.
And I was like, oh, oh, just just putting all of these guys
in their place and talking abouthyping up.
(01:09:00):
Hyping up Luffy. Katakuri knows.
He knows they don't stand a chance.
So sick. Oh yeah, so that that about does
it for my quotes excuse. Me without quotes, rather with
quotes done. Move on to Golden Ham and
brother. I think it's.
I think it's got to be, it's gotto be a unanimous decision here,
right? Yeah, yeah, I think, I think, I
(01:09:21):
think anyone, anyone besides Pedro is a, is a, an affront,
yeah, to, to all that he stands for.
Shout out to big Boy Pedro, you will be sorely missed until you
inevitably lapels on us. And we have.
We we have so much to think and. They don't want to be angry
about this. Beautiful.
(01:09:43):
Moving on to fan mail. So there's no e-mail this week.
Shout out to Zach though. You wrote us an e-mail that I'm
saving for a later date. However, I did want to go
through some comments from our other platforms.
Oh, OK. Specifically, you know we have
Spotify comments. Shout out to Spotify for
chatting that, by the way, I really like it, helps streamline
processes and our YouTube comment.
(01:10:05):
But with regards to Spotify, there is one person I want to
shout out. Their username is Nuff and they
are just plowing through our backlog of content.
They started on episode 1 like aweek ago and I'm looking through
our comments now. They're currently on episode
159, which is great. Nuff, you'll hear this.
(01:10:26):
No shout out or whatever and like, I don't know, two months
tops at your current rate, especially since you're skipping
episodes. Remember, probably sooner.
That's you, so hope to see you then.
Appreciate you listening to us. I'm glad you're enjoying our
content. Leaving comments along the way.
Also shout out to you being willing to pushed through our
(01:10:47):
earlier content, particularly interms of like mic quality and
stuff because oh God. Boy.
Man if you listen to any of us pre like near the end of
Alabasta it could like go back to that.
God bless you because I'm spoiled.
I can't do it. You're all troopers.
You're all troopers for going through that.
It's a miracle we got anyone on board to begin with.
We are forever grateful. I know.
(01:11:09):
But there was. I took a picture of it.
Hold on, there was there was a pretty cool YouTube comment that
I want to point out to. You did did did not leave any
specific comments or are they just saying?
They they say like just a bunch of stuff here and there.
We're the ones I'm looking at right now for episode 151 if
152. Don't know what episode or
(01:11:29):
content that covers, but they wrote a better translation of
white beard is probably white facial hair since the meaning of
the Japanese word used includes beard and mustache.
The last one they left with for episode 159 to 61.
Mario Galaxy isn't just on the Switch, it's on the Wii and it's
pretty easily emulated too, so no need for a Switch to speed
(01:11:50):
run it. No idea if that's what that
person did or if he's just or orif he even speedruns, but just
thought I'd comment about it since it's my area of expertise.
I could not tell you bro, that was so many years ago.
Also, Whitebeard mentioned that in like the 100 and 50s of the
of this show. What the My God?
Couldn't tell you. Almost makes me want to rewatch
(01:12:12):
this dumb show. My my, my brains will for for
that other comment about the speed with emulating.
I was like, I feel like I have avague memory of me bringing up
that someone broke like a speed run record for Mario Galaxy or
whatever. That's like the only way I could
think of that game being broughtup on the show maybe, but also I
(01:12:33):
wasn't even on the show then I think.
So what the fuck am I talking about?
I can tell you, But yeah, shout's enough.
What was his other comments? We're going.
To shout out indeed, yeah. There is a comment from from a
person on YouTube called DouglasI I want to Fact Check them
before I read this comment in particular.
So I'll stay there for next weekbecause it's going to be
(01:12:53):
hopefully him proving you wrong about Sanji about something.
But the other one I went out wasfrom a user named Fearless Monk
and they wrote on one of our comments give a pony glyph, a
devil fruit naturally indestructible but also with the
power of a zoen to move or a logia so it's impossible to
find. Like crocodiles in the desert or
(01:13:15):
Couzon's and ice can only be found if it wants to.
What if Laugh Tail is an island that ate a Zoen and that's why
it's impossible to be found? Whoa, whoa, Island Island
turtles. For real.
How do you even? I don't know, this might be too
crazy. How do you feed an island a
(01:13:36):
devil fruit? Not an island, a pony glyph, but
also you could probably feed an island a devil fruit if you
wanted to. That's what he just said.
He said what if laughtail was isit was an island that got fed
the devil a devil fruit. They Ginger said that at the end
I'm. Dumb, my bad, my brain was stuck
in the pony glyph having a devil.
Fruit. Yeah, I was by my My thoughts on
the pony glyph being fed a devilfruit were immediately
(01:13:57):
overwritten by the idea that a rattle could be a fucking island
that ate a devil fruit. Don't get me wrong, pone glyph a
pone glyph with devil fruit is also that's great.
But island with devil fruit? How What?
I can fathom the pone glyph somehow.
I mean if we can feed a fucking sword and and and bazooka then.
Just rub a devil fruit on the pony glyph.
(01:14:19):
It'll be fine, I'm sure. I'm sure Vega Punk can figure
this one out too. But on island, how it's it's an
amalgamation of so many other things like where do you, what
do you, how do you? I don't know, dude.
But the warning of a? Island.
Where is mouth? Where is island mouth?
If I drop if I drop a devil fruit in a volcano, did the
(01:14:39):
volcano eat my double fruit and. What if the I mean that the
volcanoes go to like the center of the earth where all the magma
is right? So you just turned the whole
earth into a devil fruit user. We can truly have Mother Earth.
Holy shit. That's wild.
Thank you for this I I love thatI want this now, even if this
(01:14:59):
makes so little sense that I, I mean I could excuse.
ODA to work his magic on making of attempting.
To make sense. It's so far in the opposite
direction that I don't even wantit to make sense.
I just want it. Hell yeah.
But that's all That's all comments for today.
I'll, I'll do my, I'll do betterin the future of like bringing
in comments from from YouTube and Spotify and wherever else I
(01:15:22):
can find stuff. Yeah, that'd be great.
I, I, I, I look forward to hearing more of those.
That's cool. But moving on from that, thank
you for those. We've got the producer shout
outs for the week. We've got a new month ahead of
us and we've got a new producer. We've got old producer Taco, and
we've got new producer. It's me Rabbit, who has joined
(01:15:44):
the Discord somewhat recently and also bumped themselves
directly to the producer tier. So thank you.
It's me Rabbit. You're a homie.
You've both given me your your movies for this month and I am
looking forward to exactly one of them and, and both of you,
(01:16:06):
I'm pretty sure know which I'm looking forward to.
And the other knows what they'vedone.
And I am upset. But I will do it of course,
because I've been given money for it.
So I thank you both. Shout out once more for for
being our producers, our lovely producers for the month.
(01:16:26):
To all our other supporters. I actually looked this up the
other day because I didn't know what the tears were called.
Now I gotta look it up. Please hold uh.
Voyagers are the other ones. Yes, we have.
We have Voyagers and Starbound producers, something like that.
Yeah, shout out. Yes, Sir.
Yes, Sir. All right.
That being said, we've got the guard Gab.
(01:16:47):
Get some gab in town, baby. Justin, ordinarily it's been a
while since I've pulled this myself, but you have also not
been here for a few weeks. So I'm going, I'm going to say
that it's your turn. You are going to pick something
out of this here Gab so that we can garb about it.
(01:17:07):
Oh boy, let me roll my sleeve for this Excuse me, excuse me
all right, let me let me let me get a ball up in there.
Oh, it's these are pretty heavy like you know like I don't know
just I don't know. I feel like we normally use like
light airy ish materials. I don't think.
That's necessarily true, but they are heavy, yeah.
And let me grab this one. It's like brother, why why why
(01:17:31):
did the gap got dynamite in it? Well, I just thought it would be
thematically appropriate for theepisodes that we watched.
I like Pedro, Pedro likes dynamite.
This is just. Thematically insensitive, but
I'm not sure. No, it's great.
It's an homage. So much.
Yeah. I I guess so.
(01:17:52):
I guess so. So yeah, you.
Just light it for me. Like what?
Yeah. There's nothing written on it.
You got to blow it up to. It's like a firework.
It'll shoot off and and, and. Yeah, OK.
It's just a. It's just a, it's not real
dynamite. It's just a Roman candle.
Trust me, I'm an engineer. Yeah, my.
Ass stretches from here to China.
(01:18:14):
All right, all right, cool. You know, you definitely lied
about the whole Roman candle thing because it exploded and
the clouds sort of like, you know, the explosion.
Rather said recommendation and it's my turn.
Perfect. Yeah, I believe it is.
And I actually made a new document on my phone for just
the occasion because sometimes things be popping up.
(01:18:34):
He's been waiting for this. OK, you.
Know I'm going to I'm going to step outside the box of, you
know, typical like book media kind of thing.
My recommendation this time around is learning a martial art
or a self-defense technique. Now I do not know any
self-defense techniques or martial arts outside of whatever
(01:18:56):
I think I've taught myself from watching Kung Fu movies and lots
of YouTube videos. Oh good, so nothing.
I did take that one free MMA lesson and I learned, I learned
the key lock. So if I ever just, you know, get
on top of somebody and they don't move and I get my hands in
a very particular risk control position, I could theoretically
(01:19:17):
break something on someone. OK.
So as long as all of those factors are are accounted for, I
I'm a threat to society. I maybe don't put it that way.
You might get arrested, but. So watch out, we're carrying.
These guns around, they're not going to let you on planes
either. Fuck yeah.
But yeah, I man, I always wantedto take a martial arts of some
(01:19:39):
sort growing up, like Tiger Showman commercials or
everywhere. Obviously, I'm sure that's the
same for everyone else. And and like, you know, learning
karate or some type of martial art, which is like always the
cool thing, right? Especially if you're like a
young, a young boy. It's a key part to a lot of the
media you consume from like Power Rangers to Karate Kids who
you know, anything other, anything else that's fighting in
(01:20:00):
it. You know, it's very much pitched
as like a macho thing to to learn, right, Things like that.
But but like neglecting even all, all those like kind of like
murky territories. It was just, it was just so
cool. And it always sucked that like
my mom just couldn't afford it for me growing up.
Especially when they give you a free trial and they say, Hey,
did you enjoy the class? Great, here's the price.
(01:20:22):
And then you go, whoa, can't come back.
So recently I now I have a new job and I have a little bit more
money in my pocket. I've been looking into like
martial arts gyms where I live. There's one I tried out for when
I was in high school and I obviously couldn't afford it
then and I'm thinking about maybe going back to them now.
I really want to learn BrazilianJiu Jitsu because I just really
(01:20:44):
enjoy it. It's just something about like,
you know, a map based martial art, like a wrestling adjacent
thing just always seems so fascinating to me.
I I enjoyed, I just enjoyed it for what it was.
You know, it's like, it's a mental game of like kind of like
chess, but you're obviously getting physical and it's about
like endurance and intelligence in terms of like how well do I
(01:21:05):
know my body? How well do I know where like
the opponent's body in terms of positioning, pain tolerance.
And like, I don't know, I feel like I could learn a lot, not
just like on the mat in terms oflike, you know, physical
techniques, but also like takingthe not so obvious mental
strategies from managers appliedin my life.
You know, just like you know, when you're ever in your
(01:21:26):
uncomfortable sticky situation, if you just like remain calm and
thinking through a little bit more, you can maybe like get
yourself out of it, things like that.
Yeah, Key lock somebody, Yeah. Key lock somebody, but also I, I
think a part of it is, you know, unfortunately the the world
isn't perfect and sometimes it could be unsafe to walk out at
night depending on where you live right?
And while I am not looking for afight, I would like to, even if
(01:21:50):
it's delusionally I feel the confidence of like if someone
were to attack me I could, you know, reasonably defend myself.
Or at least have the belief I could defend myself before I put
on my ass. Confidence is key.
Confidence is key also just fine.
It's it's fun as an activity to just do if you're looking for
like an exercise kind of thing or a new hobby doesn't have to
(01:22:12):
be like in a fitness mindset kind of thing.
You just want to do a new hobby. And for some maybe someone who
wants confidence or like reassuredness that they are safe
when they're alone at night or whatever, you know, there,
there's a lot of benefits to martial arts and stuff like
that. So yeah, that's my, that's my
recommendation. Hopefully within the next year I
will find a gym that is affordable and I can get
(01:22:33):
adequate, you know, training outof it, you know, from, you know,
daily life and stuff like that. Doesn't if you're at work and
all that. Sounds pretty cool, I I wish you
luck on it. I have also.
I've had a passing interest in in it before and even at one
point when I was in university, got the opportunity to take a
(01:22:54):
general self-defense course is what it was.
So I wasn't didn't focus on a specific combat style.
It was very much self-defense for the everyday person, not
someone who's just going to do dedicated training and it was
some of it is stuck with me as as things that I could utilize
in the future. A lot of it is using someone
else's body weight against them or momentum against them,
(01:23:16):
typically one of the easier waysto overpower an untrained
opponent especially. So it was cool.
And I, I, I do also wish sometimes that I, that I knew
some sort of self-defense style and more specifics, but don't
have the time necessarily for it.
So that's cool. I, I hope you get to get the
chance to do that at some point and, and hear how it goes.
Nice. All right, with that being said,
(01:23:38):

Everything was sneaky. I made a cake without cracking a
couple eggs, Right, That's the phrase.
You cracked like 82 eggs is whatit looked like last time.
(01:27:31):
All right, I don't want any of this.
Go do it. Eggs are.
Expensive.
