Today, we're interviewing Dr. Laura Robinson about her Substack series, which provides an in-depth analysis of the podcast Something Was Wrong (SWW). While there has been limited discussion about SWW beyond online chatter and our episodes, Dr. Robinson's posts offer a more thorough exploration of the show's content and the discomfort it often provokes. We also wanted to address the broader issue of victim-blaming, a topic that frequently arises when examining SWW episodes. Additionally, we discussed other subjects we've covered and sought her advice on how journalists can approach these topics responsibly. It's important to note that while journalists can amplify victims' voices, they don’t always advocate for victims' interests directly. For instance, leaving out critical details, as Tiffany Reese sometimes does, might not be as supportive of victims as it seems.
