Why Social Media Is Failing Us and 3 Things That Need To Be Working Together In Your Online Business

Are you tired of being a slave to social media for your online business growth? You're not alone. As Christian women in business, we're called to make an impact while building profitable, sustainable enterprises by God's design. But the old lead generation tactics—especially social media—simply aren't working anymore in 2025.

Why Social Media Is Failing Us

Remember that old commercial that said, "This is your brain, this is drugs, this is your brain on drugs"? Think of that as "This is your brain, this is social media, this is your brain on social media."

Social media platforms are purposely designed to be addictive. They release quick hits of dopamine that give us snapshots of happiness, and the more we seek it out, the more dopamine gets released. This addiction leads to doom scrolling for hours when we only meant to check our engagement or make a post.

As business owners, this addiction can leave us:

  • Burnt out
  • Questioning our calling
  • Wondering, "Lord, did I even hear you right?"

I've been there. I was spending too much time being a slave to social media, trying to show up in Facebook groups and add value, but it wasn't working. That's when I realized that social media is not a business growth plan.

The Three-Point Customer Lifecycle

There are three essential components that need to be working in your online business to make it successful, profitable, and sustainable:

1. Lead Generation

This is the entry point where new people discover you. The outdated lead generation strategies are not working in 2025 and beyond, specifically social media. We need smarter approaches to bringing quality leads into our world.

In 2022, I hosted my first virtual event that led to 656 new amazing women on my email list. This led to a sold-out one-on-one coaching program for the rest of that year and catapulted me into a membership and group coaching program.

2. Nurture Phase

Building relationships with your audience is just as important as lead generation. Your nurture strategy should be unique to you and your business—we're not building cookie-cutter businesses here. We're following God's blueprint for our specific calling.

This isn't just about nurturing through your email list. It's about implementing strategies that get you in front of your people to increase and strengthen that know, like, and trust factor.

We're currently in a trust recession. Too many people have been burned by coaches and mentors who over-promise and under-deliver. Many potential clients tell me they've invested so much in coaches or programs and are still trying to pay it off because they didn't get the promised results.

Often, these coaches are teaching outdated strategies:

  • Adding value in countless Facebook groups until you're blue in the face
  • Sending "hey girl" messages
  • Running Facebook ads prematurely (before your messaging is clear)
  • Implementing slow growth organic strategies when you need momentum
3. Sales Conversion

This is where you convert those relationships into paying clients. While you can show up and add value, the real transformation happens at the time of transaction. Solving 100% of your clients' problems happens on the other side of that paid wall.

Moving Forward Without Social Media

All three of these components need to work together like a well-oiled machine in your online business:

  • Lead generation brings in new leads
  • Nurturing establishes deep relationships with them
  • Sales conversion leads

Getting high quality leads isevery online business owner's goal

(00:06):
and generating leads is somethingthat most of us struggle with.
It is no
mystery that lead generation isthe lifeblood of your online
business, because without leads.
And the people you're called toserve on your email list, you

(00:26):
don't have an online business.
The definition of a business issomething that makes profit, and if
we don't have leads coming in, that wecan nurture and lead to our paid offer.
We are going to struggle to havea profitable and sustainable and

(00:48):
impactful business by God's design.
The number one reason why leadgeneration is a struggle in my mind,
is that business owners are relyingon old lead generation tactics.
The outdated lead generationstrategies are not working in 2025

(01:11):
and beyond, specifically social media.
We have been taught that social mediais the tool to build our business.
Back when I started in mynetwork marketing company.
Social media was the place tobe, and that was, oh goodness.
Now I am dating myself.

(01:31):
I got married in 2008, so roughlyaround that time, social media was
working amazing for businesses andspecifically network marketing companies,
but it is not the place to grow yourbusiness or your email list today If
it is working for you, by all means.

(01:53):
Keep what's working, but chancesare you're here because it's not.
And do you remember that commercialthat said This is your brain, this is
drugs, this is your brain on drugs?
It had, this is your brain.
It had an egg.
This is drugs.
It was a frying pan withthe sizzling butter.

(02:16):
And then this is your brain on drugs.
They dropped the egg in the fryingpan with sizzling butter, right?
So think of that as this is your brain.
This is social media, and thisis your brain on social media.
Now, I know that may be a bit.
Extreme.

(02:36):
However, think about what social mediais actually doing to your brain and
those dopamine hits that it's givingyou when there is a comment or when
there is a notification on your app.
Right.
The whole main goal of social media is tokeep you there and keep you entertained

(03:04):
social media releases quick hits ofdopamine, which gives us snapshots of
happiness, and the more that we seek itout, the more the dopamine gets released.
Social media is purposely addictive.
And I am probably preachingto the choir here.

(03:27):
Being that you are a woman against themainstream agenda, you understand this,
you understand that social media hasbeen linked to anxiety, depression,
sleep issues among adults, teenagers, and unfortunately kids nowadays.
And that constant dopamine hit and that.

(03:50):
A happiness injection that itgives us leads to that doom
scrolling for hours on end.
So as business owners, when we hopon social media to make a post or to
check our engagement before we knowit, minutes and hours have gone by.

(04:11):
When we have sat there scrollingbecause it's addictive and
that's the way it was made to be.
So for me, I realized I was spendingtoo much time being a slave to social
media, trying to grow my business, trying to show up in Facebook groups and
add value when it just wasn't working.

(04:32):
It just left me burnt out, questioning my calling and asking,
Lord, did I even hear you right?
You called me to online business, butI'm not seeing the fruits of my labor.
And that's when I realized that socialmedia is not a business growth plan,

(04:54):
even though back in 2022 I hosted myfirst virtual event, which led to 656
new amazing women on my email list thatled to sold out one-on-one coaching
program for the rest of that year, andcatapulted me into a membership and
group coaching to where I am today.

(05:14):
So that is one of the reasonswhy I created the Grow Without

I would've known in the beginningstages of my business, and that is
the three point customer lifecycle.

(06:00):
I'm gonna explain what that three pointcustomer lifecycle is in this episode.
There are three things that needto be working in your online
business to have a successful.
Profitable and sustainable businessby God's design, one that makes an
impact and is bringing revenue in.

(06:21):
And those three things are leadgeneration, nurturing those leads
and converting them to sales.
So lead generation, nurture, andsales lead generation is that
entry point where new peopleare going to be discovering you.
I help my clients establish alead generation strategy that
allows them to get visibleusing my smart lead gen method.

quo challenger, you don't bowto the mainstream evil agenda.

and takes back territory the enemy.
Stole.

women warriors who are ready to takeground in the business battlefield.

(07:55):
You'll learn how to launch a profitableand impactful business by God's design
without being a slave to social media, without compromising your faith and
values, and without piecing it togetherwith all of the worldly tactics.
At that event, I will be walkingyou through the lead generation
strategy and the smart lead genmethod that I created after my first

(08:18):
virtual event in August of 2022.
Nurture phase is just as important aslead generation, and that's building
relationships with your audience.
There are so many different nurturestrategies out there, and too many
times we're looking to see whateveryone else is doing and we're
trying to copy that strategy.

(08:38):
And we're not building acookie cutter business here.
You're building one that's by God'sdesign and extracting your unique
blueprint, which means that yournurture phase and your nurture strategy
is going to look different thanother people's nurture strategies.
And I'm just not talking aboutnurturing through your email list.
I. Which is just as important, but I'mtalking about the nurture strategy that

(09:01):
it's going to get you in front of yourpeople who are on your email list so
you can increase and strengthen that.
No, like and trust factor becausewe are in a trust recession.
There have been too many peopleburned by coaches and mentors and
online businesses who have beenover promising and under-delivering.

(09:25):
I can't tell you the number ofconversations that I have had in the past
couple months with potential clients whohave said, I have invested so much in
an online coach or mentor or program, and I'm still trying to pay it off.
Because I didn't get the resultsthat they said I was going to get.

(09:46):
Now there's a lot that comes from that.
Did they do the work right?
But from what I am hearing, extractingthe questions and answers that I need from
them is that they have done the work, butthese coaches and mentors are teaching
outdated strategies to lead generation.
They're teaching you to be on socialmedia and add value in 20 million Facebook

(10:11):
groups until you're blue in the face.
They're teaching you to send thosehey girl messages or even Facebook
ads where you shouldn't be runningFacebook ads and giving Zuck face
money until you have your messaging.
Clear until you know specifically whoyou're talking to, and you can articulate

(10:32):
the pain points and desires of who yourideal client is and what they want.
And some of these coaches and mentorsare teaching slow growth organic
strategies to lead generation.
And when you are just getting startedin your online business, that's
the last thing you want to do isspend a year on a podcast or year

(10:53):
on creating YouTube videos for your.
Email list to reach over 500 because bythe time you have built your email list
to five or 600 amazing people, so you'reready to merge into a launch strategy
or sales conversion event, the first200 people are already gone because

(11:15):
they wanted a solution to their problem.
So those slow growth organicstrategies, just don't cut it in the
beginning stages of your business.
When we need that momentum to exciteourselves, to continue moving forward
so that we have beta founding memberlaunches that convert so that we

(11:37):
can start to build our program.
Which leads me into the third partof the three point customer lifecycle
that we need to have working isthe sales, the converting those
relationships into paying clients.
That is where the impact takes place.
Yes, you can show up and add valueand serve like we're supposed to,

(12:01):
but the transformation happensat the time of transaction.
The transformation in getting 100%of that problem solved happens on
the other side of that paid wall.
So all three of these need to beworking together like a well-oiled
machine in your online business leadgeneration, bringing in new leads.

(12:26):
That you can lead to your nurture phase, which is that second point, nurturing
them, establishing deep relationshipswith them and serving them and leading
them to a sale, a paid offer, becausewe know that the transformation happens

(12:46):
on the other side of that transaction.
In the Grow without the Scroll Privatepodcast, I go into what happens if
you only focus on certain points ofthis three point customer lifecycle?
So go grab that resource.
In the show notes, the Grow Withoutthe Scroll Private podcast, you can

(13:09):
literally binge listen to this withintwo to three days as you're driving to
work, doing laundry or cooking supper.
And then don't forget to also grabthe link in the show notes to sign
up for the call to the business.
Battlefield nine Day strategic.
Battle plan event for your businessby God's design because my friend now

(13:34):
is your for such a time as this, Godis calling bold kingdom women into the
online business space to finally have aprofitable online business that not only
helps the people that they're calledto serve, but one that creates kingdom
wealth so you can give more, bless more, and change broken and corrupt systems.

(13:56):
And wreak havoc on the powers of darkness.
I pray that this episode blessed youtoday and share it with a business bestie.
