William is the most recent person to achieve the highly regarded VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) certification and he covers off his journey from the prerequisite exams (VCP, VCAP), to the creation and submission of the PhD style documentation set and his experience in the panel defence.
His background with the hyperscalers and cloud native solutions brings a rare perspective as most architects come from the perspective of on-premises or private clouds, whereas William transitioned from a hyperscaler to VMware.
William corrects a common misnomer about native cloud solutions and the fact these are not "bare metal" and the virtual machines in public clouds still run on a hypervisor, thus the value of the hypervisor + hyperscaler solutions from VMware and Nutanix.
