Hey, OOBTers! In today’s episode, we’re diving into the thick of Leviticus, and my oh my, is it ever packed with so much goodness for us to discover? We’ll start with the Day of Atonement, a day so central to Israel’s worship.
Spoiler alert: It points us straight to Jesus and His ultimate sacrifice for us on the cross. Seriously, the connections to Hebrews 9 are mind-blowing! Wow. Just WOW.
From there, we’ll explore the significance of blood in atonement—cue the hymn Nothing But the Blood (maybe you remember singing this one? Or still do even?). It’s crazy to think how these words found in Leviticus tie into the songs we still sing today.
Then we see things get real as God lays out some super-specific instructions for how His people are to live holy lives. And while some of it might feel uncomfortable or heavy to read, we’re reminded that “clarity is kindness.” God wasn’t just handing out rules—He was showing His people how to be set apart, to be holy as He is holy. How to draw near to Him. That’s so good.
Be sure you don’t miss our talk about how these instructions mirror the Ten Commandments, how they challenge us to live differently in our world today, and, most importantly, how they show us God’s heart for His people.
Honestly, there’s so much to uncover about God’s holiness and His amazing plan for us. Oh, friends, I can’t wait to open our Bibles together!
