Carol Man’s journey is anything but ordinary. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Carol discovered Judaism as an adult and eventually converted—an experience that deeply shaped both her identity and her art. In this episode, she joins Yitzchok Moully to share her path from a corporate life in Asia to becoming a visual artist living a Jewish life in Israel.
Carol’s artwork blends her Chinese heritage with her Jewish identity in powerful, visual ways—most strikingly through her use of Hebrew letters to form the shapes of Chinese characters. Her work becomes a dialogue between cultures, languages, and traditions, exploring questions of belonging, transformation, and spiritual searching. With warmth and insight, Carol reflects on what it means to build a new life—and express it boldly through art.
About Carol:Carol Man is a visual artist whose work bridges cultures, languages, and traditions, creating a dynamic dialogue between Chinese and Jewish heritage. Through painting, calligraphy, and installation, she explores the fluidity of identity and the interplay between history and personal transformation. Her calligraphy technique—melding Chinese and Hebrew script—serves as both a meditative practice and a visual exploration of how language carries memory, meaning, and spiritual depth.
Since earning her Master of Visual Arts in 2015, Carol has exhibited internationally, with shows in Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico, and the United States. As a member of the Jewish Art Salon, she engages in creative conversations that challenge perceptions and inspire cross-cultural connections. Her work invites viewers to embrace the richness of shared traditions while celebrating the spontaneity and playfulness that emerge when cultures meet.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
