Discover the 3 key elements of successful podcasters

Are you wondering if it's too late to start a podcast?

In this episode, I break down the 3 essential elements that make top podcasters stand out from the crowd. As someone who's been podcasting since 2020 and running a successful podcast marketing and production agency, I've nailed what makes top podcasters successful.

In this episode, I'll show you how successful podcasters think differently about growth and challenges, what real success looks like (and why it's not just about those download numbers!), and I'll even share how I monetized my own show in just three months.

Let's bust those podcasting myths together!

(00:00):
If there's one thing I doextremely well, that is my

(00:03):
friend to reverse engineerthings. I love to observe
people, and I love to see whysomething is working. And that
does not mean I'm copyinganybody. I just like to see why
a certain strategy works forsome people and how they do it
and how they apply it. And ofcourse, I've been podcasting

(00:24):
since May of 2020, and I own apodcast Management Agency. And
because that is how my brainworks, I am wired to reverse
engineer things and reallydissect things and to understand
why something works. I haveobserved three things that
really make top podcasters standout, and I'm super excited to
share that with you today. Solet's dive in. So before

(00:47):
anything, let's talk about thebig elephant in the room is
podcasting saturated. And here'swhat I have to say, there are
two types of people here in thispodcasting space, people who
sing podcasting saturated. Itdoesn't work, and they are too
late and they give up. And thepeople that are like me to have,
you know, this scientific kindof brain, they love to try new

(01:10):
things, and they love tounderstand, if something didn't
work, how can we make it work?So you really do have the
scientists like this personwho's doing experiments and
trying things out. Obviously, the person who thinks podcasts
and saturated, they're tellingthemselves like, I'm not getting
downloads, I'm not getting anyvisibility. This podcast is not
doing anything for my business.Whereas people who have you know

(01:34):
the growth mindset, and theylove to explore things and make
things work, because they seethe finish line. They're asking
questions like, How can I growmy listenership? How can I
improve my show? How can I dothings that will actually place
me in front of my ideallistener? And, of course, it all
comes down to three basicthings. Number one, as you can

(01:56):
tell, is mindset. So yourmindset, how your mind is primed
whenever you go into anything inlife, that'll for sure determine
your success or not, because ifyou are relentless, if you're
just not going to give up, ifyou're just going to keep
trying, and of course, we haveto be smart about this, like
we're not going to keep make thesame mistakes again and again
and again and hoping that oneday Things are just going to

(02:17):
poof, magically change. That'snot what we're doing here,
right? Because the next part ishaving a good strategy. Top
podcasters, they have strategy. They have strategy behind
anything that you do. Anybodywho's successful, they have
strategy behind anything thatthey do, whether they see it or
not. They do have a strategy inplace. The third thing is

(02:41):
commitment. Because here's thething, I have literally talked
to people who told me they wentout and they got the microphone
and they set up a studio andthey recorded like five
episodes, and then they launchedtheir podcast, and then after
two weeks, they packed it allup. Here's the thing, you're
probably not going to seeanything crazy happening from

(03:01):
your podcast, just from twoweeks, you really have to commit
to this. So when you look at bigpodcasters, they have been
podcasting for a while. Have youhad to see anybody who just,
like, starts and has an amazingshow right out of the gate and
like, listen, that is absolutelypossible. But here's the thing,
if somebody does have successright out of the gate. What do

(03:22):
they do? They keep podcasting. So podcasting is not like this
magical being that will just, you know, put you on the map and
these things, like, no matterwhat, you have to commit to it.
So first things first is, again, having the mindset when I
started podcasting May of 2020,even though I didn't have an
audience, I knew that my showwould stand out, that I had a

(03:45):
message to say, and I had toovercome a lot of mindset and
blocks and fears that werekeeping me stuck from being
super honest. If you go back andlisten to the very first episode
of this podcast, which I stillhave up, it was a different
niche. I'm always inentrepreneurship, but just a
different category. I wastalking more about e commerce. I

(04:07):
even say it in that episode thatI wanted to quit right then and
there. And a few years in, I'mstill here. I'm still
podcasting, and it's because Istuck with it that I have a
successful show. And I keptpodcasting even when I did a
giveaway at 25 or 50 episodesand nobody entered to win, I did
a giveaway when it felt likenobody was listening, like I

(04:29):
could see the numbers, like youcan see the numbers. You can log
in to your podcast dashboard andyou can see that people are
listening, but you're notgetting any feedback, and it
feels like this is even landingwith anybody. But I kept
podcasting because you won't seethe fruits of your labor for a
while. And this is true withanything in life. Like you
cannot put a seed in the groundtoday and then expect tomorrow

(04:49):
for it to be a full blown treegiving fruit. It just have to
wait, and you just have to bepatient. The strategy part. I
talk about this a ton in thispodcast episode, and I'll make
sure to. Link episodes downbelow so they can go ahead and
listen and make sure that youare applying strategies to your
podcast, because podcasting, forthe sake of podcasting, is not
going to do anything for yourbusiness. You do have to have a

(05:11):
strategy in place. And thecommitment piece, this is
something that I always talkabout. This is something that if
you're going to start a podcastwith the attitude that you're
going to see where this takesyou, and you're going to see
what happens, and you're justgoing to show up and you feel
like it what you put into thisis what you're going to get in

(05:32):
return. So if you're givingthis, like whatever, I don't
care, attitude, then you're notgoing to get a whole lot of
results back. But if you commitand you have the good mindset
and you have a good strategy inplace, guess what, your show
will be a success. And by theway, I just want to talk about
success for a second and sidebarhere, you don't have to enter to

(05:53):
have this super popular showwith millions or 1000s of
downloads. For you to make moneyfrom our show, you can do that
right now. I made my firstdollar for my podcast. I
launched in May of 2020 inAugust of 2020 that's when I
monetized my show. I sold a spotto a coaching call, and I was

(06:13):
just pitching my services. Andthe only thing that I did
differently was that in Augustof 2020 I started promoting my
coaching offer, that wasliterally the only thing that
changed. And I made money for mypodcast, and at that point in
time, I had about 1000 downloadsor so, not a lot. So the point
I'm trying to make is, if youhave those three things in
place, these are the same threethings the top podcasters have

(06:37):
in place for their own show. They didn't get there overnight.
It took them time and Mindset,Strategy and commitment. This
really the secret recipe tohaving a successful podcast. And
until next time, may you findGod's love, grace, mercy and
peace, and I'll see you then.Bye. Thanks for listening to the

(06:59):
organic marketing simplified forpodcasters. If you're ready to
take your podcast to the nextlevel, let's work together. I

blueprint, where you havelifetime access, not only to the
program itself and all updates, but also to me inside of a group

(07:23):

together. I also own a podcastmarketing and production agency.

to us and have us do all theback work for you, while making
sure that your show is gettingall the visibility it deserves,
