platform that gives you a placefor you to stand and you have
just as much of a chance ofranking high in the algorithm as
the celebrity coach next door orwhoever is in your industry,
like the person next door toyou. It doesn't matter the kind
of reach that they have, youhave an equal footing inside of
the podcast app because of theway that the algorithm is

designed. I love podcasting, buthere's the thing, podcasting,
for the sake of podcasting,won't do anything to grow your
brand or your income if you'renot being strategic about it,
right? So there are metrics thatwe need to know to make better
informed decisions when it comesto podcasting. And if you know
me, you know that I love data.But in case you don't know me,

just a little background. Ilaunched my podcast to an
audience of zero. I did not havea social media following. I did
not have an email list. Iliterally have a Drake moment,
like started from the bottom.Now we're here, and I own a
podcast Management Agency, Ihave been able to get my clients
top ranking podcasts, and evenpeople that work with me in one

off or they buy my courses,they're able to see a 3x growth
on their podcast downloads,implementing the things that I
have learned in this podcastindustry. Because again, I love
podcasting, and I'm a geek, andI dive deep into the data
because data is your friend, anddata helps you make better
informed decisions to skyrocketyour growth. So I was digging

today, and I went intoBuzzsprout and I have some
numbers to share with you tokind of give you an idea of
where you are in the podcastingworld. Okay, so according to
buzzsprouts, and we're lookingat download numbers. Within the
first seven days, the top 1% ofpodcasters are bringing in about
3900 downloads per episode.Okay, so exactly it is, 3994

downloads per episode. And thenthe top 5% are bringing in 795
downloads. The top 10% 335 thetop 25% 93 downloads, and the
top 50% medium podcasts that isbringing in 30 downloads. Okay,
now why do we need to care aboutdownload numbers? Let's play a

game for a second. Let's pretendthat each episode you have is
equivalent to the size of youremail list. So let's say that
you have an episode, and thatepisode got 100 downloads. Now
conventional wisdom tells usthat a good conversion rate is
somewhere between two to 5%let's grab our calculator for a

hot minute here, and we're gonnado 100 times 2% that gives us
two that means that out of the100 people that listen to our
episode, two of them convertedinto a sale. Okay, now, if that
was 5% then five people turninto a sale. Now, why do we need
more download numbers? Becauseif we're gonna get more people

to buy from us, then we needmore people listening. So this
is why we need to have moredownload numbers. This is why we
need to really be mindful aboutmaking sure that we are growing
our podcast. Because here's thething, my love, there's another
step to this, that just becauseyou gotta download doesn't mean
that you gotta listen. Okay?Because let's face it, how many

times have you downloaded anepisode to listen to it later,
and you later came and you neverlistened to it, right? Let's be
even more conservative here.Let's really go deep, right?
Like if this was a true emaillist, let's say you have 100
people on your list, and let'ssay they have a 20% open rate.
In this scenario, the open rateis how many people actually
listen? Okay, now we're lookingat 20 listens, and then if you

do a conversion, if we'reconverting at 5% that is one
person. Do you understand why itis important that we grow our
podcast, and why it's importantthat we consistently get more
and more download numbers.Because here's the thing, my
love, what got you here is notgoing to get you there. So

whether you're getting 30downloads or you're getting 50
downloads, you're getting 80downloads or 100 downloads,
you're getting 200 downloads. Ifwe want to grow whatever got us
here up until this moment is notgoing to work. We always have to
optimize our strategy and workon the things that are actually
working right? If you want moreyour strategy needs to uplevel,

and something needs to change.So you're questioning yourself.
What can I do? First of all, Ijust want to let you know that I
have the roadmap. I have acourse that will literally walk
you through. So the things thatyou need to implement right now
in your podcast to see growth.Like I said, the people that
have taken my course, they haveseen three times the download

numbers in their podcast in avery short period of time just
by implementing the things thatI have learned in the course. By
the way, a lot of the peoplethat have taken my course, they
take things step by step,meaning they're not sitting down
and overhauling their podcastsovernight, they're taking step
by step. So one day they'reworking on one section of their
podcast, another week, they'reworking on a different section.
So even though they're notcompletely overhauling their

podcast, they're still seeingthree times the download numbers
from just implementing some fewchanges here and there. And like
I said, I own a podcastManagement Agency. I know what
the algorithm likes. I knowthings that you need to focus on
to get you a top rankingpodcast. Because you want a top
ranking podcast because here'sthe thing, when you start to

rank on Apple, Apple organicallystarts to push you to other
people. So if you have an iPhoneright now, what I would like for
you to do is for you to open upyour podcast app. If you're on
Apple right now, you'relistening to me, which, hello, I
love you. And then you are inthe home page that it opens up,
it says, listen now. And youwant to scroll down just a
little bit that the firstsection are the podcast that

(06:15):
you're listening to, right? Andthen the next section says you
might like so based on thingsare you listening to? It's like,
okay, you're gonna like thispodcast. Then they have popular
shows. They have things like, ifyou like this podcast, then
you're gonna like this episode.Okay, so this is why we want to
rank in the podcast algorithm.Because Apple starts doing the

marketing for us. They startdoing the advertising for us for
free, which is why we need to beable to rank on a podcast. And
we start to rank on the podcastby implementing things like SEO
and being mindful about keywordplacement, because keywords will
set the growth of a podcast onfire, but they have to be the

right keywords, and they have tobe placed in the correct place.
And there are other things thatwe need to be mindful of.
There's data, there are thingsthat we need to do to make sure
that we're taking the rightsteps. Honestly, if you haven't
really dipped your toes into theworld of podcasting, you are
missing out because podcastingis the place to be to grow a
business. Because let me tellyou something, social media

platforms are getting more andmore saturated every single day.
Everybody's here basicallysaying, pay attention to me. Pay
attention to me. Pay attentionto me. People are just
scrolling. People are watchingyour content or consuming your
content from the toilet, ifwe're being super honest, and
that is the level of engagementthat you're getting here on
social media. However, on apodcast, people are committed to

you. People are listening to youfor 10 to 15 to 20 minutes, and
you have their undividedattention, and it feels super
intimate. I have so many peoplethat come to me and they feel
like they know me because theyhave been listening to me,
because this is the power ofpodcasting right now. Some of
you are listening to me andyou're walking some of you are
folding laundry. Some of you aredriving to work. Some of you are

picking up your kids. It doesn'tmatter. The point is, I am built
in into your day. This, myfriend, this is the power of
podcasting. Okay? It's the onlyplatform right now that gives
you undivided attention for 10to 20 minutes. You cannot get
that on Instagram, you cannotget that on Tiktok, you cannot
get that on whatever otherplatform out there, but you can
