(00:31):

Hope you enjoy this episode ofOrganized Chaos.
Now on to the show.
Hey friends, welcome back toanother episode of Organized
Chaos, and today we're divinginto a topic that's on a lot of
our minds right now.
It's how to reset and refocusafter the summer break.

(00:51):
If you've been feeling a littleall over the place as the kids
get back to school and you'retrying to juggle getting back
into your business routine, thenyou're not alone.
Summer has this magical way ofthrowing us off our schedules in
the best way, of course, butnow it's time to hit, reset and
find a flow that works for youand your family.

(01:12):
So, if you're ready to stopfeeling overwhelmed and start
reclaiming your days, stick withme for the next 10 minutes as
we break down some practicalstrategies to help you ease back
into your structured routinewithout the stress.
All right, let's get started.
So the first thing I want tosay is give yourself grace.
The transition from summer funto school and business life can

(01:37):
be a bit of a shock to thesystem and it's easy to feel
like you should be back on trackright away.
But that's just not how itworks.
You're adjusting, your kids areadjusting, and it's normal for
things to feel a little off atfirst.
So if you found yourselfthinking why am I not as
productive as I was beforesummer, take a deep breath.

(01:59):
Remind yourself that gettingback into a routine takes time,
and let's make this transitionsmoother by being kind to
ourselves first and taking itstep by step.
Now let's talk about the firstpractical strategy, and that's
creating a simple weeklyschedule.
Now notice I said simple.

(02:20):
We're not going to try andtackle everything all at once
and you're not going to get backinto a routine, especially
after a break.
The goal is to ease into it.
So grab a piece of paper oropen up your calendar app and
let's break down the basics.
So here's what I want you to do.

(02:41):
List your non-negotiables first.
So these are the things thatare essential, like school
drop-offs, business meetings orspecific work deadlines.
Put those on your schedulebefore anything else.
Then choose three focus areasper day.
So each day, pick three tasksor goals you want to accomplish.

(03:03):
This could be family oriented, like meal prep, or business
related, like sending follow upemails.
Keeping it to three helps youfocus on what matters most and
avoid feeling overwhelmed.
And the next thing is block outtime for self care.
Now, whether it's 15 minutesfor meditation, a workout or

(03:24):
just sitting quietly with yourcoffee, build in that time for
yourself.
It's not a luxury, it's anecessity for maintaining
balance in both your family andbusiness life.
And by keeping your weeklyschedule simple, you'll avoid
the feeling of overpacking yourdays and create a space for a
more intentional flow.

(03:45):
All right, the next thing is Iwant you to implement a morning
reset.
I really try to emphasize thisis like having that morning
routine, hype up routine orsomething that lets you start
off the day the best that youcan.
So I want to share a techniquethat has really helped me reset

(04:07):
my day and start fresh.
The idea here is to create amorning routine that sets the
tone for the entire day.
Now this doesn't have to belong drawn out process.
We're all busy and sometimes weonly have 10-15 minutes to
ourselves, but the point is tocreate a sense of calm and
intention for the day ahead.

(04:28):
So here's how I want you toapproach it.
Start with a five minute braindump.
So sit down with a journal or apiece of paper and write out
everything that's on your mind, from to-dos to just random
thoughts.
This clears the mental clutterand helps you focus.
Number two is pick one priorityfor the day.

(04:48):
After you brain dump, decide onone thing that you want to
prioritize for that day.
This could be a personal goalor a business-related goal.
And number three is practice aquick mindfulness routine.
So, whether it's deep breathingor a short meditation or a
gratitude exercise, take amoment to center yourself before

(05:11):
diving into the day, and doingthis consistently will help you
feel more grounded and lessreactive as you navigate the
busyness of family and work.
All right, the next thing I wantto talk about is how to
integrate family into yourroutine.
So I want to shift gears alittle bit for a second and talk

(05:31):
about, like, how you can dothat.
This is super important because, as busy moms, our schedules
often affect everyone around usand vice versa.
And one strategy that canreally help is to involve your
kids and your partner, if thatapplies in the planning process.
So here's how Set up a weeklyfamily meeting so, on Sunday

(05:54):
evenings, for example, sit downtogether and talk about the week
ahead.
This way, everyone knows whatto expect and you can coordinate
schedules, especially aroundthings like afterschool
activities and family time.
Then assign responsibilities.
Now, this is a tricky onebecause, as moms, we usually
like to control a lot ofdifferent aspects of our lives.

(06:16):
But this is the delegationpiece.
So don't try to do everythingyourself.
Delegate age-appropriate tasksto your kids, like packing their
lunches or helping with simplechores.
This not only lightens yourload, but it teaches them
responsibility, all right.
The next thing is schedulefamily time.

(06:37):
So, just like you block outtime for work, block out time
for family fun, whether it's amovie night or a quick walk
after dinner.
This has really, really helpedus.
Having that dedicated timehelps maintain balance.
So when you bring your familyinto the routine building
process, it helps things runmore smoothly and it takes some

(06:59):
of the pressure off of you.
So this can be a process, butit's something that, once it's a
routine, it is golden.
All right.
So the next thing is I want youto commit to the process.
Routines don't fall into placeovernight and they really don't
start off perfectly all the time.
Life happens and some days willfeel chaotic, no matter how

(07:22):
well we plan.
But if you stay consistent withsome of the basics a simple
weekly schedule, a morning resetand involving your family
you'll start to see things shiftover time.
So when things feel tough, remind yourself that it's okay
to adjust.
It's okay to take breaks.
Just keep showing up andtweaking your routine as you go.

(07:45):
The key here is to keep goingand give yourself permission to
make changes when you need to.
All right, now, if this episodehas resonated with you and
you're ready to dive deeper intocreating routines that actually
work for your family and yourbusiness life, I'd love to take
the next step with you.
So if you want to chat abouthow you can work with me, I'll

(08:12):
leave a link to a form that Ihave that you can fill out and
we can schedule a time to chat.
All right, thanks so much fortuning in today.
Remember, easing back into aroutine after summer doesn't
have to be overwhelming.
Just start small, stayconsistent and watch how things
begin to fall into place.
I'll be cheering you on everystep of the way, all right until
next time.
I wish you a week of clarity, harmony and intentionality.

(08:36):
Take care.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
