(00:31):

Hope you enjoy this episode ofOrganized Chaos.
Now on to the show.
Hello and welcome to thisepisode of Organized Chaos.
Today, we're going to be talkingabout living an organized life
and how you can turn your chaosinto calm.
So, as moms and momentrepreneurs, we live a pretty

(00:53):
chaotic life, and at times itcould just be too much.
So I want to share some of mytips regarding organizing
different aspects of your life, because having a system of
organization that you can applyto different areas of your life
can help you achieve so much.
Some of the benefits obviouslycan be reduced stress and

(01:14):
anxiety, it can be improvedproductivity, it can enhance
your time management, it cangive you a better work-life
balance and it can also increaseyour clarity and focus, and
that's what I'm all about here.
So I want to actually take youthrough some of the areas and
give you some of the tips thathave helped me steer clear of

(01:36):
those long bouts of chaos.
So I want to start off withdecluttering your physical space
.
Now these are some of thehidden ways that can increase
your stress.
If you're constantly seeingyour physical spaces just an
absolute mess, it's obviouslygoing to affect your mood, it's
going to affect the way youperceive yourself, you're going

(01:56):
to beat yourself up for notcleaning up and it's just going
to create this chaos in yourlife.
So one of the things that I havereally had to work on is
letting go of things.
Really, just thinking about thethings that I hold on to Now,
there are things that weabsolutely want to hold on to,

(02:17):
maybe things that areirreplaceable, or just things
that feel good to have becausethey have memories.
So there are certain thingsthat we are going to hold on to,
but a lot of times there arethings that we feel like we're
going to need in the future.
So my first step is just theart of letting go, the art of

(02:41):
just assessing what isabsolutely necessary in your
life and then letting go of therest.
Another way and probably one ofmy favorite ways is just to
find organizing solutions, sostorage boxes or places where
you can actually place thingsthat you're not using at the
moment but that you can findeasily.

(03:04):
One of the things that I hatethe most is when we buy
something because we think weneed it and then, when we're
organizing or going through somethings, we actually find that
thing that we bought.
So this isn't just going to bea stress reliever, it's also
going to save you money becauseyou're going to know where
things are and they're not goingto be found in different places

(03:26):
later on down the line.
So having things organized andplaced in certain locations is
going to avoid that.
You also want to have some typeof system to maintain a
clutter-free environment,because it's great when we sit
down over the weekend and westart sorting things and
organizing things and we feelgreat about it.
But how are you going tomaintain that?

(03:48):
Now, a great way to do that isto do this periodically.
I like to do a deep clean or adeep organization every quarter,
but in order to really maintaina clutter-free environment, it
has to be more frequent.
But don't make it overwhelming.
It doesn't have to be.
You have to organize and cleanthe house in one sitting.

(04:08):
I say that you put it on yourcalendar to at least do this
once a month, and it could beper room, you know.
Or you can pick a couple ofrooms that you want to go
through.
That way you maintain that, oryou keep that clutter from
accumulating again, but itdoesn't have to be like it's
going to be your full-time job.

(04:28):
Okay, so let's move on toanother area, and that is
organizing your time.
Now I have a few ideas here, and I've actually talked about
this quite a bit on differentepisodes, but I wanted to give
you a quick rundown of some ofthe things that really helped me
manage my time.
So, for one, it's setting goals, having some type of goals,
having some type of direction ofwhen I want to go.

(04:52):
Is that the first step inactually managing my time?
Because once I get down to thegranular, or you know the
individual tasks that I need todo, it's a lot easier to manage
my time.
And Prioritization I have toknow what is a priority, because
I can't do it all.
So I really Follow the 80-20rule, so anything that falls in

(05:15):
that 20% is something that INeed to put my focus on and
everything else needs to bedelegated or just stopped
altogether.
I also utilize time blocking.
This is a really great way tostay Focused, and you know it
does.
It's not always perfect, but Itry to follow this because it's
a really great way to Stay ontask and then know what's going

(05:39):
on in my life, because I can'tkeep everything in my head and
if I write down the things thatI'm gonna be doing on a you know
, 30 minute or one hour basis,it just it gives me kind of like
that freedom to not have thatall swirling around in my head.
So time blocking is a reallygreat way to manage your time.

(06:01):
You also want to deal withprocrastination head on.
Now, we are not procrastinators, we just procrastinate.
So number one thing is to takethat label off and Don't
identify yourself as aprocrastinator, because you're
just gonna bring more of that.
So, dealing withprocrastination, think of some

(06:21):
of the things that you can dothat you can avoid
procrastinating.
And Another thing is to have aneffective to-do list.
Sometimes we feel like we needto create a to-do list.
That is super long, but for me,at least three things on my
to-do list is what I do dailyand Weekly.

(06:41):
So you know, a bigger projectcan be divided into three parts,
or it could be three individualthings that are not huge For
the week, and then the dailythings.
Just my top three things.
All right, let's move on toanother area and that is your
digital life.
Many times we start off withthe most annoying and

(07:05):
overwhelming thing in the worldand that is our email inbox.
So managing our emails and Notletting them overflow is a
really great way to kind oforganize your digital life.
My husband is excellent at this.
He will get emails and he, whenhe checks them, he goes through

(07:25):
them right away.
Now, this is what works for him.
But once he goes through it andif he flags some of them that
need to be, you know there'sthere's more time that needs to
go into them he will flag those, but then the rest he just
deletes or he archives them, andhe always has an empty inbox,

(07:46):
and I'm so jealous, but this isthe system that he's created for
himself.
So think about something thatyou can do so that when you open
up your inbox, it doesn't giveyou that emotion of overwhelm.
Another tip is to organize yourfiles and documents.
If you open up your computerand you see on your desktop is

(08:07):
an absolute mess, start there, start deleting things, start I
archiving things.
Look into digital storage andjust remove the clutter from
your desktop.
I and I talked about this in aprevious episode, about how much
time you spend online and howthat can affect you.
So just be mindful of how muchyou're using digital devices so

(08:33):
that you don't feel thatconstant stress.
Okay, so now let's move intoroutines and systems.
Now I love my morning routine.
I mean, it's the thing thatreally sets me up for the day.
So having a morning routine andan evening routine can really
help you stay organized and keepyou stay on track with some of

(08:54):
the habits that you want toeither continue or start.
Meal planning and prepping isanother way to stay organized.
It can avoid the stress ofhaving to know what you're going
to make for dinner or whatyou're going to eat, and can
avoid the trips to thedrive-thru.
Another system is to have acoordinating calendar for the

(09:16):
family.
This way, everybody knowswhat's happening during the week
or during the month, so you canall be on the same page.
So, like I said before, this issomething that you're going to
have to do on a regular basis, but if you do create a system of
organizing your life, thebenefits are going to be
avoiding stress and anxiety, improving your productivity,

(09:37):
enhancing your time management,having a better work-life
balance and increasing clarityand focus.
And, of course, it's not goingto be perfect.
We're going to have setbacksand we're going to have certain
challenges, so we can deal withthose as they come.
But don't forget to celebratethose small wins.
If you get an area that you canorganize and declutter and

(09:58):
maintain it, celebrate that, because it's not easy to live
your life in an organized way.
All right, that's all I havefor you today.
Thank you so much for listeningand I will see you next week.
