Now on to the show.
I really love to simplify thingsfor myself.
I want to make things easierand less complicated, and
sometimes prioritizing can feellike it's really complicated.
(00:52):
I have struggled withperfectionism, like feeling like
I have to do things perfectlyin order for me to feel
successful or feel happy, andI've come to realize that I want
to focus more on efficiency, because with efficiency, you're
still allowing for mishaps andmistakes and missteps, and I
(01:16):
want to really be able to workwith what I have.
So, whether it's my time, myenergy and just the things that
I have going on, I want to makesure that I can just focus on
the things that truly matter.
So, welcome to the show.
Today.
I have a really simple method toshare with you, and it's called
(01:41):
the 1-2-3 method forprioritization, because I want
to help you simplify your lifeand boost your productivity.
So why is it important toprioritize?
For one, it's a way to manageyour time, reduce your stress
and ultimately achieve yourgoals, and that seems like a
(02:02):
dream, right?
But if we don't have ourpriorities straight, then that
can lead to overwhelm, burnoutand just a lack of progress.
And it's really hard sometimesto come up with priorities and
to really focus on yourpriorities, because we have a
lot going on, we feel like wehave many responsibilities, but
(02:26):
the impact of not trulyprioritizing our lives and our
tasks can be distractions.
It can lead to multitasking, which is not a good thing, and
then there's a lack of clarity.
So when we feel like this, that's when the overwhelm comes
in.
(02:46):
So I want to share with youthis method because it's
something like I said, I love tosimplify things and I think
that this is a really great wayto get started If you feel like
your priorities are out of whackand your life is kind of a mess
right now and you want to honein on what truly matters to you.
(03:08):
So this one, two, three stepprocess is really simple.
I keep saying that because Ireally want to emphasize how you
can do this right now, eventhough you feel like or you may
feel that like intense overwhelm.
So step one is identifying yourcore priorities.
(03:28):
So this is different areas ofyour life what is truly
important to you Now?
It can be your family, it couldbe your health, it could be
your career, it could be yourown personal growth.
Now I want you to take a momentto reflect on what truly matters
to you and if what aligns withyour values and long-term goals
(03:53):
is something that is present inyour life right now.
So one tip I can give you is tojust make a list of the top
priorities for your day, foryour week or for your month, you
know, depending on how far youwant to go, and I want you to
categorize them by urgency andand by importance and whether or
(04:17):
not they align with your goals.
Now, this can take a little bitof time and you have to be real
with yourself because, especially as moms, we can think
that everything is a priorityand everything is urgent, and
it's not necessarily the thingsthat really matter to us.
It's a lot of things thatmatter to other people.
(04:38):
So if you find yourself puttingout fires or if you find
yourself putting aside your ownneeds to help other people, this
is going to be kind of like arealization for you when you sit
down and actually write downwhat truly matters to you.
All right, step two is tosimplify and to focus to you.
(05:04):
All right, step two is tosimplify and to focus.
Now, how can we simplify thesetasks and narrow down our focus
so we can lead to being moreefficient and effective with our
time and our energy?
So I love the concept of lessis more and focusing on like
fewer things to do that canactually lead us to better
results, like in our business.
(05:26):
This is kind of like aphilosophy that we have really
held on to.
How can we make more money bydoing less?
And it really opens up our mindto all of the possibilities,
like all of the opportunitiesout there where we're not
putting more on our plate.
We're actually taking more offof our plate, but the results
(05:51):
are more because we're sofocused on the most important
things.
So my tip for you would be toactually select the top three
tasks for each day that alignwith your core priorities.
So, of course, first you haveto have what your priorities are
and then pick the top threetasks that you need to do each
(06:14):
day that align with thosepriorities and focus on
completing those first.
So I'm not saying that you'renot going to have more tasks on
your list, but I want you tofocus on those top three because
that is going to help you.
If you stay consistent with it,that's going to help you really
hone in on the most importanttasks for the day so that you
(06:38):
don't get caught up in theminutiae of the rest of the day.
So you can either starteliminating or delegating some
of the tasks that don't reallyalign with those priorities or
that are low value.
Now I really want you to thinkabout this because, like I said,
we pretty much always put likeeverything at the top of our
(07:02):
list, but sometimes some ofthose things do not produce the
value that we want them toproduce.
They're really like low levelthings that we don't necessarily
need to be doing.
Maybe they do need to be done, but not necessarily by us.
So this is where the delegationcomes in, and now step three is
(07:22):
create a daily routine andstick to it.
So it's important to create adaily routine that really
supports your priorities andmake sure that there's
consistent progress.
So the role of consistency anddiscipline is super important to
(07:43):
work towards your long-termgoals, because if you do this
every now and then and if you'renot consistent with them, then
you're not going to see theresults in the long term.
So consistency and disciplinereally is important.
So I want you to think about itthis way I want you to create a
structured daily schedule thatincludes time blocks for your
(08:06):
top priorities yourself.
So throwing in self-care, butalso having the flexibility when
unexpected things pop up,because we know for a fact that
they will pop up.
Now, this is something thatwhen I first started, I didn't
take that into account, becausethat was the perfectionism
(08:29):
coming and it was like, okay, Ihave this plan, I have all my
priorities, this is what I wantto do, and I didn't consider
things that would pop upunexpectedly and that would
throw me for a loop.
And then that would pop upunexpectedly and that would
throw me for a loop, and thenthat would get me off track, and
then I would beat myself upabout it and it was like on and
on and on.
It's just this vicious cycle.
(08:51):
So If we plan for it, we'remuch better equipped to deal
with it when it pops up.
So you know how you stick to aroutine and all of that is
important.
But also knowing that it's notalways going to go as planned
will make you take care of someof those things better than if
(09:13):
you hadn't thought of them atall.
It'll allow you to makeadjustments as needed without
like losing sight of yourpriorities.
Like I said, like I've triedthis and I've made it so that
it's simple for me to kind of gointo this and focus on my
priorities without it feelinglike this overwhelming thing.
(09:33):
So I've really had to, you know, take this method and break it
down into smaller pieces, andthat's why I wanted to kind of
just just have three steps to it.
So if you're just gettingstarted, if you're feeling like
you know everything is out ofwhack and you want to start
focusing more on the mostimportant things, then this is
(09:54):
the way to do it, because it'sgoing to feel less stressful,
it's going to help you with yourproductivity on a daily basis
and you're going to feel likeyou're actually accomplishing
something, even if it's smallsteps.
And when you have those, youknow mini victories each day.
That is going to improve yourconfidence and it's going to
(10:15):
help you stay more consistenteach day.
That is going to improve yourconfidence and it's going to
help you stay more consistent.
But I do want to talk about, like you know, some of the
things that may pop up and whichis why prioritizing is so
important.
So, you know, we can fall intokind of like these different
pitfalls of like over committingand kind of allowing
distractions to kind of takeover.
(10:37):
So you do have to kind of keepthat in mind where you don't
want to over commit, becausethat's just piling more stuff on
and we want to take more stuffoff of your plate, right?
So making sure that you're notover committing and this is, you
know, this is where the peoplepleasing the work on people
pleasing comes in just beingcomfortable with saying no, like
(11:01):
you know, you don't have to doit all, you really don't have to
do it all, and you can say noand not give any explanations
for it.
You know what?
Just, you have a lot of shitgoing on.
So it's like I don't want to dothis or I don't have time to do
this, because it doesn't reallyalign with my priorities and
(11:22):
it's okay to say no, it's okayto set that aside for a later
time.
And once you start doing thisand once you're consistent and
you have like this cadence foryourself and you feel like
you've really focused onyourself, then maybe start
adding on things that you knoware more important for other
(11:42):
people and you know you can bethere for other people, but
let's focus on you first.
All right, so what are some ofthe like long-term effects of
really putting this methodtogether for yourself?
For one, you're going to beable to prioritize, obviously,
but you're going to feel agreater sense of productivity
(12:06):
and efficiency over time andit's really going to start to
help you make some significantsteps towards your long term
goals and not feeling likeyou're, you know, taking one
step and then having to take twosteps back, like this is going
to give you a better, betterconsistency and moving more
towards your goals, and it'salso going to contribute to like
(12:29):
a better work-life balance bymaking sure that your personal
and your professional prioritiesare in harmony.
So you're going to be able tomaintain that balance, you know,
even as your priorities shift, and you know things happen in
life, because it's going tohappen.
That's just part of life, so,but this is going to give you
kind of like the structure foryou to be able to do that Now.
(12:52):
If this feels like, okay, thanks, this is simple but it's
not easy to implement, then youcan reach out to me and I can
help you with this.
But this is a really great wayto start to even just plan it
out.
Even if you don't do anythingwith it right now, just planning
it out will make you feelbetter and then, once you're
(13:13):
ready, you can jump into it.
All right, that's all I have foryou today, but I hope that was
helpful, and if you want thatadditional support, I have a
getting focused productivityworkbook that you can download.
That will actually help you inpart to kind of put this
(13:35):
together.
There's a part in it that helpsyou with prioritization and it's
really focused on how you canactually start working on your
business and kind of likeincorporate your business, you
know, into your busy life.
So I'll actually put that inthe show notes so you can go
ahead and download it and, youknow, see if you can start
(13:55):
working on this piece by pieceand if you want to give me some
suggestions on any other topicsthat you'd like me to cover, or
if you want to just send me somerandom message, you can
actually do that.
So if you're on Apple Podcasts, you can go to the show notes,
and right above the show notesthere's a link that says send me
(14:18):
a text.
You can actually send me a textmessage.
Don't worry, it won't go to myphone.
It'll go to a system that Ihave and you can share anything
that you want with me there.
All right, I hope this washelpful.
I hope you have an amazing restof your day and I'll see you
next week.
