Many people strive hard to work their way up a career ladder - but what if it’s not the right career ladder for you? Our guests this week, Shih-Wen Lin and Kun-I Chang did just that, and then pivoted to building an independent art studio.
Shih-Wen and Kun-I are the artistic duo behind Space Rabbit Studios, a creative studio that brings illustration, animation, photography, and designer toys all under one creative roof. After working their way up the New York advertising career ladder, they took a leap to building out their own studio and their own world filled with heartwarming characters that spans multiple media including animation, books, and toys.
In this conversation, this collaborative duo share what it was like to turn down clients to focus on their own work, reframe what it means to be on the “right” career ladder, and offers their experience in trying to figure out how to collaborate with each other.
