Steven Daniel returns with a full-throttle Out of Place mini-episode to confess something big: he’s absolutely obsessed with GTA 6 — and has the receipts to prove it.

What started as a plan for a tight 90-minute breakdown quickly spiraled into over 14 hours of audio. (Yes, really.) In this short-but-chaotic teaser, Steven sets the stage for a 14-part YouTube series that dives deep into everything from the infamous 2022 leaks to fan theories, map breakdowns, Rockstar's strategy, and all the satirical, rage-fueled commentary you've come to love.

If you thought you were hyped for GTA 6… wait till you hear this.

SPEAKER_01 (00:47):
guy.
Hello, all the placers.
You beautiful bunch of emotionaldamage generation straddling
misfits.
This is Out of Place, thepodcast for anyone born between
1980 and 1989, aka the forgottendecade, aka Gen Y, aka the human

(01:08):
version of Napster, unstable, misunderstood, and absolutely
full of rage, nostalgia, andviruses.
If you're too old to understandTikTok We cover the real stuff

(01:32):
here.
Parenting, broken homes, politicians who suck no matter
their color, and of course, thestuff that lets us pretend the
world isn't on fire.
Movies, games, pop culture, andtoday, Grand Theft Auto.
I planned to do one epic GTAepisode, just one.

(01:52):
Thought I'd blow your mind inabout 90 minutes.
Turns out my mind was way tooblown.
We ended up with nearly ninehours of recorded chaos.
So here's the deal.
On Spotify, Apple, Pandora,Amazon Music, and all the other

(02:12):
streaming services, you'regetting a clean, trim 20-minute
overhaul.
The meat, the flavor, the goodstuff.
But if you want all theridiculousness, the GTA
wishlist, the city by citybreakdowns, the voice acting,
the world building, the satire, the full creative concept I
poured years into, you'll needto head over to YouTube.

(02:35):
That's where the full megaepisode lives.
I may have to even split thatup.
I don't think I can have anybodysit there for eight to nine
hours.
I'll probably more than likelysplit it up on YouTube.
So let's get one thing straight.
straight.
Rockstar is not just a gamestudio.
It's the damn fortress in aworld where studios put out

(02:56):
garbage and dare to call it art.
I'm looking at you, Bethesda,BioWare, CD Projekt Red,
Ubisoft, EA, Square Enix,Konami, Gearbox, Telltale,
Rocksteady, Volition, and HelloGames.
You took advantage of us.
You over-promised in trailersand gave us live-service turds
wrapped in grind loops andtechnical bugs.

(03:19):
Rockstar?
Yeah, they fucked up.
Sure, that trilogy remaster wasoutsourced and it looked like
someone vomited polygons.
But when Rockstar makessomething new, oh, the game is
over for the rest of you.
And it happens over and over.
They build worlds, real ones, breathing, bleeding, corrupt,

(03:40):
gorgeous, and they're alwaysplaying catch-up.
They're either copycatting themor trying to make a live service
game.
Remember Remember Red DeadRedemption 2?
I followed an NPC for a fullin-game day.
Dude had a routine, a job, awife, drank at the salon, got
up, went to work.
It wasn't a script.

(04:01):
It was life.
That's the level we're dealingwith.
So here's what I did.
I spent weeks creating my ownGTA dream map.
You want immersion?
I got you.
I started with a blank map ofthe United States, lined it up
coast to coast.
I put a line from the Bay Areaand straight across to the East

(04:22):
Coast and then cut off that top.
I just sliced it off.
And then I plugged in everyrockstar city we've seen and
then I filled the rest of theareas, the blank areas, with
fictional towns that I createdinspired by real places I've
lived, visited, or just obsessedover.

(04:42):
Here's a couple of things that Iadded.
I added Sierra Ashwood, which isa mashup of the Redwood Forest
and Lake Tahoe.
It would have small cabins, bonfires, shady backwoods,
horror vibes.
I added Crimson Aspen, which isski resorts.
You gotta think of ski resorts, influencer trash, and rich
people drama.

(05:03):
Think Aspen, but if Kardashiansmet Black Mirror.
Then we got Sanquivera.
That's a fancy vineyard townwith the cartel whispers,
bootlegging legends, and poisonwine.
I was inspired by Napa Valley.
I live close to Napa Valley.
I've been to Napa Valley.
That was the inspiration.
Then we got Craggle Creek, whichis a dusty farm town where the

(05:26):
corn grows tall and the localsbury their secrets deeper.
And actually I made the vineyardand this farm town close to each
other where I mapped it out.
I put it right above LasVenturas, which is GTA's Las
Vegas, but I put them two of theclose together.
The story I created was likethese two families, they just

(05:48):
fuck and hate each other.
They're rivals.
They do shit to each other.
I love the drama.
I also have, which is rightbelow Las Venturas, I put
Deadwood Divide, which is myversion of the Grand Canyon.
Then to the right of that, I putthis city.
I came up with a city calledIron Mouth.
This would be a rusty old townwith the megacorporations, union

(06:12):
fights, and corrupted cowboys insuits.
So every city has a story.
Oh, and I I did another one Icalled Potomac Heights.
This one is just like in betweenLiberty City or New York where I
placed it on the map and GTA 6map in Gloriana, which would be
Georgia, right above Leonardo, which is Florida.

(06:35):
So I put Potomac Heights there.
That's what I think Rockstarshould do, which is Washington,
D.C.
and Virginia.
And yes, in between all that, between the West Coast and the
East Coast, I decided to placeRed Dead Redemption 2's maps in
there too because it's allconnected.
They're all in the sameuniverse.
So let's move on to what I don'twant in GTA 6.

(06:57):
Do not launch online on day one.
Let the story breathe.
Let the world marinate.
Online is chaos.
Launching it later gives playerstime to understand the map,
explore the characters, andactually enjoy the game without
getting blown up by a13-year-old on a flying bike.
Second, no futuristic crap.

(07:18):
keep the lasers and the flyingdeluxos, even though that's one
of my favorite cars, away unlessit's locked behind satire or a
separate mode.
And for those of you that don'tknow what a deluxo is, it's
pretty much Rockstar's versionof the flying DeLorean.
I actually followed the tutorialonline that somebody took this

(07:38):
and walked me through how tomake it look as much as the Back
to the Future DeLorean, as muchas possible.
Rockstar, even though thoughright now it's the social club
is closed and shut down.
I actually was able to customizea license plate.
So the license plate also saysout of time.

(07:58):
Anyways, GTA needs to feel likea grounded criminal empire, you
know, not cyberpunk Floridaedition.
This goes the same for thevehicles.
I want muscle cars, busted vans, sketchy speed boats, not
hovercraft submarines with laserbeams.
If Rockstar brings back thathigh tech toy shit.
Just keep them rare or create aseparate fucking lobby for these

(08:22):
people.
A separate mode lobby for thesepeople that want to use these
high-tech toys.
Let the streets matter again.
So next, I want to talk aboutRockstar versus everyone.
Rockstar spent$2 billion on GTA6.
Let that sink in.
That's more than Marvel movies.
That's flex.

(08:43):
So huge.
It made other studios delaytheir games just so that they
They don't get curb stomped bythe launch.
GTA 6 isn't just going to be agame.
It's a reset button for theentire industry.
While the rest of these clownsare selling broken betas and

(09:04):
season passes, Rockstar isbuilding a living, breathing
America.
Every city is designed withcare.
Every NPC on the schedule.
Every building with uniquedetails.
This isn't high this is hope soyeah i'm gonna wrap it up this
one's gonna be a short episodeum like i said this was supposed

(09:26):
to be one big episode but i kepttalking i kept reading my notes
and my script and my outline andsometimes i went off tangent and
now it's about eight or ninehours i haven't finished editing
it so i had to jump on here andbe like if we're out of place i
don't want to split this up andhave like a whole bunch of gta
different episodes no it's aShort and sweet.

(09:49):
Like I said, if you're listeningto this on Spotify or Apple or
any of those streaming podcastservices, this was just the
beginning.
This was sort of like part one, more like an introduction, your
starter dose.
But if you want the rest, if youwant that big thing, if you want
to hear every single detailabout my dream map, you'll be

(10:11):
able to see it visually.
I'm going to show it off becauseI created it in Procreate using
brushes of stuff that I boughtin the past, including a nice
mapping brush set that I gotfrom mapeffects.com.
There's going to be businessbreakdowns.
You know, I had a bunch ofbusiness ideas that I would

(10:31):
like.
It's going to be satirical, deepdives.
It's going to be world building.
I'm going to have anger.
There's going to be hope.
There's heart.
Just head to YouTube where I'mgoing to be splitting that
episode up.
I think you're going to enjoy itif you're a really big fan like
me of rockstar gta and red deadredemption you're going to love

(10:56):
what i do on youtube and nexttime on out of place i'm
defending us the gamers forthose of you who are gamers
because i'm sick of peopleacting like we're wasting time
when they're the ones bingewatching garbage reality shows i
said it fight me but until thenstay hyped stay Stay grounded.

(11:19):
Stay ready.
Because GTA 6 is coming.
And when it drops, everythingchanges.
I love you.
I appreciate you.
And always remember to smile.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
