Imagine being an 11th grader, passionate about basketball, only to have that dream interrupted by a series of concussions and seizures. Such was the journey of Kiki Hanley, who transformed these trials into a mission to inspire others. On this heartfelt episode of Out of the Mouth of Babes, I have the honor of sitting down with my daughter Kiki, as she shares her story of resilience, spiritual growth, and her venture into entrepreneurship. Through meditation and faith, Kiki found a new path, creating Her Divine Purpose, a T-shirt brand that spreads messages of peace and positivity.

Kiki’s belief that everyone has a unique purpose led her to launch a clothing line that encourages others to find their own peace and fulfillment. Her designs serve as gentle reminders of the beauty within each of us, no matter the obstacles we face. Kiki talks about her passion for basketball and golf, her commitment to her new path, and how you can support her mission by checking out her designs on Instagram. Join us for a warm and encouraging conversation, celebrating young entrepreneurship and the power of mindset.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Welcome back to Out of the Mouth of Babes podcast
for our youth.
Today we have an extraordinaryyoung lady just so happened to
be my daughter, and today we'rehere to talk a little bit about
her journey, what she's involvedin, what she got going on.
I'm going to take a coupleminutes to kind of let the
listeners know.

(00:36):
About a year and a half ago, wehad some unfortunate things
transpire with her.
She's a basketball player andwas playing down at the Run for
Roses tournament in Louisville, kentucky, and as she went up to
shoot a layup she was shoveddown.

(00:58):
But before that, in May of thatsame year, she ended up getting
a concussion and veryinteresting basketball practice.
But then in July she gotanother concussion.
The unfortunate thing thathappened in this is that she
started having seizures, and shehad as many, as there were some

(01:20):
days where she had an access to10 seizures a day, and she had
almost at the minimum, three orfour, from July um to, you know,
september, october, and so umso did.
So she didn't necessarily knowwhat her next journey was, and

(01:40):
so one of the things I noticedfor her was that she became very
involved in creating her ownpeace and her own and putting
herself in a position where shemeditated and she was reading
her Bible, and so out of thiswhole ordeal she came up with

(02:02):
her own line which is what I'mrepresenting right now.
It just says peace across peaceperiod.
I put the period I just saidpeace period on there, but, um,
so I'm gonna let her talk alittle bit about her, her, um,
her journey and her t-shirtbrand and and the reason why she
does what she does.

(02:22):
So introduce yourself and you, your grade and what you're
involved in and what you'recurrently doing and the teams
you play for and all of theabove.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
My name is Kiki Hanley.
I'm in the 11th grade.
I play basketball, I play golfand AAU and golf, golf, just
playing for my school team andwith my t-shirt company hold on

(02:53):
before AAU.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Who do you play for?

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Ty Harris Elite.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Ty Harris, elite and um, and you play.
For what?
High school?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Richmond High School.
Richmond High School all rightWith my T-shirt business.
The background on that was, like the name is called, her
Divine Purpose.
So the way that I want topresent it is that, like

(03:20):
everybody has a purpose in theworld, everybody has a purpose
in their own life.
Like, if you don't know whatyour purpose is, everyone has a
purpose in the world.
Everybody has a purpose intheir own life.
If you don't know what yourpurpose is, everyone has a
purpose.
So I felt like I was reachingsomething, reaching this kind of

(03:43):
spiritual journey and spiritualawakening, and so I started to
feel like I have a divinepurpose in this world, even
though, like, there were timeswhere I felt like I didn't, or
times like people like made mefeel like I didn't, that I know,
like, no matter what I gothrough, that life is still
beautiful and there's alwaysgoing to be beautiful outcomes
in life.
And I kind of just wanted toshare that through my t-shirt

(04:05):
business and just to let peopleknow that you have a divine
purpose in life and you canreach peace, you can reach
happiness.
You just have to shift yourmindset to it.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
All right, so you have a couple of samples of your
T-shirts Can you share with the, the folks out there and
podcast land.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
So this is my brown and pink shirt that I have right
now out, and then I have ablack and a white out right now
as well.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
And then the gray and the white.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Gray and the white, you even got them for the big
fellas.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah, tell us a little bit about where folks can
find this.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
If you get on Instagram, you can reach me at
herdivinepurposekey.
That's my Instagram handle, butalso you can text my number or
email me at 765-967-1353.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
All right, Anything else you want to share with the
listeners out there?
Key.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
No All right.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
So Her Divine Purpose , peace, check her out.
We usually don't promote stuffon here, but I felt like you
know, when you get kids that aredoing some positive things and
some inspirational things, Ithink it's important for us to
let the folks know what they'redoing.
And so you, as a studentathlete, you are an honor

(05:43):
student, is that correct?
You spent a lot of hourspracticing for basketball, right
, and so you've played at kindof a high level for a while.
Is that correct?
And what did you learn fromthis that you know?
I remember you saying at onepoint, when you didn't know if

(06:03):
you were going to be able toplay again, that the world is
not just revolved around sports.
Did you talk to them a littlebit about that?

Speaker 2 (06:13):
I feel like that kind of goes back into the divine
purpose.
Just because you play a sportor you have a hobby doesn't mean
that's what defines you.
Like you have to find what youfeel like in your soul defines
you, and not just within yoursoul, but, like, find whatever
it is in your life thatmotivates you, that like gives

(06:36):
you a feeling that like, oh okay, like I'm good, like no matter
how things hard get, I'm goingto be okay, because I know that
I'm okay with myself.
Like and I love myself andeverything that I do.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Anything else you want to share.
No, all righty, her DivinePurpose, it's coming to Etsy,
coming to Amazon and all of theother places.
There's a bunch of folks that, some big-name folks that got
copies of your stuff.
I know DO Hughley got one, isthat correct?
There's another comedian Iforget his name that got a copy,

(07:16):
got one of them and they'regoing to help support your brand
as well.
So look forward to seeing morepeople out and if you got
anything, hit us up out of themouth of babes podcast for our
youth peace.
Thank you, you, you, you, you.
You.
