Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome to Out of the Mouth of Babes, the podcast for
our youth.
To laughs at me every time.
I say that because I get allextra animated Right TO.
Yes sir, hey man, I am sittinghere with one of the most
underrated defensive linemen inthe state of Indiana.
I'm telling you, I've coached alot of kids in my lifetime but

(00:34):
this young man is one of themost underrated, the most
physical, the most energetic andhe's one of the best leaders
that I've seen from a studentathlete in a long time.
And unfortunately he's notgetting the props that he
deserves, but I want him to justkind of know that I appreciate

(00:55):
you for your style.
You know I've tried to make hima rah-rah kind of aggressive
football player.
He's not having it.
He has his own style, he keepsit calm and he delivers play
after play and he's somebodythat I wish that when I play, I
could have played with.
So let's give Tellis TO Ortiz around of applause TO talk to us

(01:18):
a little bit about yourexperience with football and
what do you like the most aboutplaying this great game of
football.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
So football was never my first choice.
It came freshman year of highschool.
You know my brother was playing.
I was like, why not just play?
I kind of just got stuck withit.
I just enjoy like the familyaspect of it.
You know what I mean knowinglike I can trust the other 10
guys that are out there with me,and you know it really like,

(01:51):
really makes me feel good man, I, as I've said to you, I, if you
want to.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
There's not a kid that hits as hard as him.
There's not a kid that works ashard as him than we have on our
team.
So I'm you know this is goingto be a push for all college
coaches out there who arelooking for a great student
athlete.
To Ortiz, I'm going to let himpronounce his first name,
because I always mess it up, sopronounce your full first name.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
My name is Telus Foro .
Telus Foro.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Ortiz, senior Richmond High School.
Three grade point averages overa 3.0, stellar student, stellar
athlete.
To talk to us a little bitabout leadership how do you pull
a team together that isstruggling?
That is not cohesive.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
I think it really goes on with your connection
with the guys.
You know what I mean.
You can't lead without knowingeverybody else.
So I think just understandinghow to talk to people is the
biggest thing, because I knowthere's some guys that like they
just don't react well to youyelling at them or like
screaming, and just like justtalking to them, having a

(03:03):
conversation with them.
So I think it's really aboutunderstanding how to talk to
people and understanding them asa person.
That really makes you a greatleader.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
All right, this is your senior year, man, yeah, and
I know you are looking at andwanting to go play college
football somewhere, and I'm notgoing to put you on the spot as
to you know where you're looking.
But if you had to make a pitchto, for, for to a college coach
right now about and I know thisis hard for you because you're
such a humble guy, so I'm goingto push you I might throw some

(03:33):
words out for you.
But how, how will you sellyourself to college coach x, who
is looking for the right player?
What would would?

Speaker 2 (03:43):
you say I say I'm committed.
You know what I mean.
Once I'm with the team I'mcommitted.
Like freshman year I said Icame in wasn't sure about it.
You know I just, you know, bought in.
You know what I mean.
I'll buy in fast.
You know what I mean.
I'm trying to be a leader onand off the field.
You know what I mean, not justfor my guys on the football

(04:03):
field but, you know, for mycommunity.
You know that's a big part ofme.
So I think those are the twomain things I try to sell to a
college coach for sure.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Now I want you to know that it may look like I'm
taller than him because I pushmy chair up, but tell them your
size TO.
I'm 6'2" 230 right now, and I'm5'11".
But I just want you to knowthat he is taller than me and
he's a towering individual, notonly in size, not only in

(04:40):
stature, personality and alsocommitment and leadership.
To thank you for all the workyou're doing, will continue to
do.
I'm giving you your roses rightnow.
I appreciate you.
To is in the house.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Thank you guys, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
