Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
Amy Torber and coming up on today's show as she
binds this controversial kid free euro trip, the fallout from
the Tammy Hembro and Bailey Smith new romance, and Chloe
Zepp's remorse over the closure of her active wearline. But first,
(00:25):
Taylor Swift has announced she's entering a new era. The
singer songwriter revealed she's releasing her twelfth studio album, Diary
of a Showgirl, in October. Taylor shared the news on
her boyfriend Travis Kelsey's podcast, but the announcement has been
overshadowed by the revelation that Taylor Swift has actually been
in her sour Dough era since finishing her epic tour.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Sourado's taken over my life in a huge way. I'm
really talking about bread sixty percent of the time. It's
become a huge, huge factor.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
I mean, and she's getting good with making all these
different versions of it.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
I could listen to Taylor Swift talk about Sourdough for hours.
This is right up my alley because I've only recently
started getting into bread making. I just felt like at
one with Taylor. I'm like, we're the same. I mean, yes,
you're mega famous and rich, but we also both like
making bread. Like, could she be any more relatable?
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
It was really nice just to hear Taylor talking normally
because she is so down to earth and we haven't
really got to see that side of her for a
while because she's been on the Eras tour and it's
been so pumped up in the media. She's almost become
this godlike entity to people. Yeah, and I think that's
one of Taylor Swift's superpowers. She can remain so relatable
yet she is this mega superstar. And I think it
(01:43):
was a good move to have her on Travis's podcast.
I mean, I know a lot's been said about, oh,
you know, why is she announcing the news of her
album and her boyfriend's podcast, But as she said on
the podcast, it was just a cool, fun way to
share the news and it was a surprising way, like
no one was expected it and no one was expecting
the chat about the sourdough and also otters.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
This is where the internet is a good place where
you can curate a reality where like all I really
use the internet for is sourdough. And when Travis shows
me videos of ards on his Instagram.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Algerithman, I want a wild so bad. I just want
to like find these little creatures.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Yeah he doesn't, but he wants wild.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Why wouldn't you? Aren't they there's domestic domestic.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
He wants one specifically whose life he saved, who knows
that he's saved. It's a really specific type of arder
he's looking for.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Taylor are Self joked on this podcast episode that when
they first got together, people must have been like, what
do they talk about? I mean, I could never have
guessed that this is what they spoke about, but I
love it. I saw a tweet that someone put up
and they said, I don't want to give any spoilers
for those who haven't listened to the podcast, but this
is what it's about, and they put a photo of
an otter and sour dough loaf. I couldn't believe that
(03:02):
the podcast was two hours long, Like, I know that
is usually the length of the New Heights episodes, but
I was like, oh, maybe Taylor Swift will only be
on it for a short time. But it was so
good to hear in this long form content and she
opened up about so many interesting things. It got me
even more excited for her new album coming out because
(03:23):
it sounds like she's taken a bit of feedback on board.
Off the back of The Tortured Poets. I have to say,
The Tortured Poets has been my favorite album she's released
in the last four albums, so I much prefer to
over Folklore evermore. And also Midnights. However, a lot of
music critics were saying it was too long, there were
too many songs. I think it was the real Swifties
that enjoyed that album, the real hardcore fans, But it
(03:46):
seems like this album is more for everyone else. Like
she said, it's only going to be twelve songs for
a twelfth album. She's confirmed that there's no surprise second
bonus album, and she said it really encapsulates what her
life has been like behind the curtain. While she was
on the Ears tour, she said it's infectious joy and
Travis said that there's going to be a lot of bangers,
(04:07):
and I noticed there's a song on the album called Honey,
which is pretty interesting. Off the back of Travis Kelce
appearing in Happy Gilmour Too Well. In that movie, he
had honey poured all over him. Taylor confirmed that she
wasn't dressed as the bear that poured the honey on him.
I fly out to Europe tomorrow night, so I thought
I'd do a little hall of some last minute things
(04:28):
I just put up at the shop, Ash binds his
two week euro trip is causing controversy for more reasons
than one. The og fitness influencer initially divided opinions when
she announced she was holidaying kid free for the second
time this year. However, it was Ashy's decision to film
and share content at a Holocaust remembrance site the truly
(04:49):
angered people. Now, before we get into that side of things,
I want to talk about this kid free holiday aspect
because it's not the first time ash has been criticized
for holidaying without her children. In twenty twenty two, she
was forced to defend herself after she left her three
month old daughter Tala at home with her husband while
she went on a girl's weekend away. At the time,
Ash she called out the hypocrisy, saying if a dad
(05:11):
went away for forty eight hours, no one would say anything.
She also questioned what was wrong with leaving her children
with their father. Ash was again then criticized, this time
last year when she left her daughter at home again
with her dad, to travel solo with her eight year
old son Taj. More recently in May, as she was
labeled selfish online after she went on a girl's trip
(05:31):
to Bali without her family. Amy, how do you feel
about Ash leaving her kids at home? Well, they do
have a father that is looking after them in those
examples that you provided, so I see nothing wrong with
her actually going and having a holiday with her friends.
I mean, mums do need a break as well. I
was going to say that no one would blink an
eyelid if Ash's husband Steve did the same thing, but
recently Steph clare Smith's husband Josh Miller was called out
(05:55):
for doing just that. It was a slightly different scenario though,
because Josh is the children's caregiver Billy their daughter was
also a newborn, so slightly different. I mean, I mean
Tyler was three months old, so just still unfair to
be called out like that, I think, I mean, I
can understand the criticism a little bit more this time
around because Ashy and Steve are both away from their children.
(06:16):
I still think this backlash is unfair. I mean, the
kids are probably with a family member having a great
time themselves. I think I would go on a holiday
without Harry if my parents said, oh, we'll look after
him for a few days. I don't really see anything
wrong with that, because I think sometimes you do need
a bit of a break. Yeah, but it's not a
couple of days. It's two weeks away from your kids.
I mean, Tyla is three and Taj is nine. Surely
(06:39):
they could have brought the nine year old. I mean,
I probably wouldn't want to go to Europe with a
three year old, but I think in this instance, maybe
then just don't go on a holiday and wait two
kids a little bit older. Like I'm a bit old school,
I wouldn't want to leave my kids at home. I
want to bring them with me and share those ventures together.
In saying that I wouldn't be taking a toddler to Europe,
but well, I heard Ashwicks talking on his podcast about it,
(06:59):
and he and his wife for going to Balley. I
think it was for a week, and he said they
previously bought the kids, but it was so hellish that
they decided not to take them this time. I mean,
he said, it was kind of awful for everybody involved.
I suppose it's personal preference, and I'm actually just thrilled
for Steve that he got the call up because it
seems like a well deserved trip for him, considering that
he has solo parented whilst Ash has been away on
(07:20):
numerous holidays. So the couple ended up traveling business class
to Poland with a stopover in Singapore and Turkey. And
as she posted on TikTok, making light that she was
a passenger princess and that Steve had booked everything for
their trip, and it kind of made more sense when
ash revealed on her Instagram story where they were first
going in Poland. So from the back of the car,
(07:41):
she shared that she was going to Auschwitz Museum. So
the site used to be the largest Nazi concentration and
extermination camp during World War Two and it's considered one
of the most significant Holocaust remembrance sites in the world.
Let's take a listen to what Ashy said about it. So,
I've just got a private driver that is taking to
the outswitch camp. So today is going to be a
(08:04):
heavier day. That's something Steve and I've always wanted to
go and learn about more and experience more relics of
books and documentaries, and Steve watched a bunch of new
movies coming over as well. This is gonna be a
very sad, heavy day. I wonting documenting it, documenting it
or flogging it just to have respect just doesn't feel
quite right. But you've got a full day out.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
There and.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Now. Despite saying she wasn't going to document her visit
to the museum and memorial, three hours later, as she
shared photos from the grounds with the caption this is
so surreal, so fucking sad, there are no words. She
went on to share six photos and twelve videos with
the disclaimer that she was about to share sensitive content
that may quote feel heavy and emotional to read or
(08:51):
watch now. This vision included photos of the victims alongside
their personal belongings and the barracks that they stayed in,
including the toilets and the bunk beds. As she accompanied
the vision with her personal thoughts from her visit, she wrote,
today we walked through Auschwitz. I don't think anything could
have prepared me for the weight of being here, the stillness,
the silence, and the knowing the over one point one
(09:13):
million men, women and children were murdered on these very grounds.
There was so much we weren't allowed to film out
of deep respect, but this is the small glimpse we
had permission to share. I'm not here to debate or
answer questions. I'm simply sharing because so many of you
have messaged saying you never have had the chance to
come here yourselves. She finished up by saying that she
felt heartbroken but grateful for the privilege of learning now.
(09:34):
Two hours later, it was a real jump scare because
she then shared vision of her looking very glamorous, sitting
on the back of what looked like a horse and carriage,
doing this royal esque wave, pouting, and she went on
to share photos of her and her husband enjoying dinner out.
It just seemed totally tone deaf to have that off
the back of this other content. Yeah, it's also bizarre
(09:55):
considering she said she wasn't going to share any content.
I mean, I'm going to use the word again, but
I found the whole thing very tone deaf, especially considering
what's going on in the world at the moment. I mean,
understand that her job is to share content, but have
some respect. I mean, to make this big deal that
you're not going to share content, but then a couple
of hours later you do the exact opposite. I mean,
if she felt compelled to share about it after, she
(10:16):
could have just spoken directly to the camera about her
experience rather than sharing vision from within. I mean, what
is she gaining by sharing it? That was a big
question I had. Yeah, I think she should have just
paid her respects rather than using it as a content opportunity,
which it really felt like. And despite saying that she
had permission to share this small glimpse, it appears to
have gone against the rules stipulated on the museum's website.
(10:38):
So the rule state people are allowed to take photos
and videos for their personal records, but not for commercial purposes,
and that photography and filming is not permitted in certain
rooms of the site. They even listed specific guidelines for
digital creators that said online creators need to get permission
to produce content for their channels at the museum prior
to the visit. Content creators have to send information to
(10:59):
the press contact, including an outline of the script or
concept of the material. The content then has to be
approved by the museum's press office before publication. Furthermore, only
a museum representative is allowed to speak about the history
of the camp, either narrating the history alone or in an
interview format with the author. So to me, it seems
like Ash posted this content without getting approval. Oh yeah,
(11:20):
I don't think anyone approved that kind of content. I
mean it shows you just how sensitive this type of
content is. The fact that you have to go through
all of those approvals.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Have you everyone seen it? I'm assuming the news comes
out it's not look.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Okay, what has everyone seen? Firstly, for those who might
not have.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
Seen it, my ex has moved on with someone, yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
So, or she's on a date. Tammy Hembro has iconically
responded to being busted on a date with AFL star
Bailey Smith. Just seven weeks after announcing her divorce from Mattzakowski.
The OG influencer took to TikTok to cryptically share how
she's feeling via Songlime is going to be one of
Tammy's greatest talents, picking song lyrics that align with what's
(12:04):
going on in her life. It's literally how we all
picked up on the fact that her and Matt Sakowski
were done, and she's quite the storyteller via lyrics, so
the lyrics she chose to respond to being spotted with
Bailey Smith were as follows.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
He'll be fucking boring. This whole town is so fucking boring.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
I care.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
And there was an added easter egg in this TikTok,
so fans quickly picked up that Tammy was wearing the
same added US jacket Bailey Smith wore on their lunch
date over the weekend, and funnily enough, a week prior,
Tammy was busted wearing her ex fiance Rhyes Hawkins's jacket,
so she was seen sporting the jacket on her Instagram
story after the pair reunited to celebrate their daughter's ninth birthday. However,
(12:48):
that story was quickly removed. I love our Tinder and
now trying to claim this relationship because, as we discussed
on Tuesday's show, Bailey is an ambassador for Tinder, so
under a TikTok of Bailey applied to a comment that said,
well he found Tammy just in time, writing wonder where
they met with the eyes emoji? Good on Tinder because
no one believes for a second that they met on
(13:10):
the app. However, their name is getting thrown around a lot.
I mean, I think the partnership has paid for itself.
Now I want to talk to you about Matt Sakowski
because he has hit back on his podcast revealing that
he was the one who dumped Tammy. I was waiting
with baited breath to see what he was going to say,
seeing as he gave all those quotes to the media
on Monday. The podcast ended up dropping a day late,
(13:31):
which makes me think that there was a bit going
on behind the scenes. The same thing happened last time.
Matt addressed the Tammy situation on his podcast, and I
suppose when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, as
Matt used Tammy's date as a hook to get listeners.
So the episode was entitled seeing your Ex with someone Else,
and within a couple of minutes of the show starting,
Matt addressed the Tammy Bailey sighting. So when his co
(13:53):
host Anna McAvoy asked him about his weekend, he said,
obviously everyone had seen what happened with Tammy. He then
dropped this.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
A couple of months ago, I made a one of
the hardest decisions of my life. I decided to leave
a relationship that I found was not right for me.
It was unhealthy for me, and I made the decision
for my mental health to leave. In doing that, it
does not make it any easier seeing the person that
you loved, the person that you married move on with someone.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
It's interesting off the back of Tammy being spotted with
another guy that he has to say, oh, I'm the
one that dumped her.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
You know.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
I assumed that it was Tammy that broke up with Matt,
so I was quite shocked to hear this news. It
just seems like a bit of a power play to
be like, oh, well, I'm the one that dumped her,
so you know, I'm the winner in this situation. But
then you're going to talk about it on your podcast
after saying that silence is power, like, it's just I
think he's scrambling to catch up to try and get
media attention around this. He went on to say that
(14:50):
it's been extra difficult because of this relationship being in
the public eye and he can't block it out. He
then said, you know, I'd be getting all of these
messages from publication and my friends talk talking about it,
and then he said that he wasn't judging Tammy for
moving on quickly, that was all fine, it hasn't upset him,
but he just thought, oh wow, you know, wow, it's
not decision to say all of these things if you
(15:11):
don't want to be engaging in it all, Like, if
you don't want to be involved, don't say anything else
about it. Yeah, because if you just wanted to block
it out, wouldn't you just stop talking about it? Because
the media are now going to pick up on his
side of things, yeah, and putting clickbait headline. Yeah. It
seems like Tammy's decision to move on quickly has actually
changed Matt's mind about staying silent on his breakup as well,
(15:31):
because he said this.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
I know, I said that I wasn't going to address
this any further and keep talking about it. But you know,
things are going to arise as I go on the
journey of healing, and I have this platform, this podcast,
people listen every week, and I think that I might
share my journey with them and how I'm traveling and
how my healing's going. So I'll keep you guys posted.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
I mean, we predicted early on that this was going
to happen. It was only going to be a matter
of time before he shared his side of the story,
and this has obviously pushed him on. I mean, I
think this is game on for Matt, particularly off the
back of him giving quotes to media. I mean, just
after we recorded Tuesday's episode, pap shots of Matt walking
to a cafe were published alongside the Bailey Smith Tammy
Hembro story. And for those who haven't seen him in
(16:19):
the photos, he's walking down the street on the phone.
He sat out the front of a cafe and full
side of the cameras before choosing a table right in
the front of a big window. Inside he was photographed
reading a newspaper. I mean, if this doesn't scream pap
set up shots, then I don't know what does.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
I mean, it's pretty obvious when you see photos like
this because what paparazzi is sitting outside Matt Sakowski's house.
They probably don't even know where he lives. And also,
if you've been followed by paparazzi, would you really set
out the front of the cafe and then in a
window like reading the newspaper. I mean, the photos went
perfectly with the quotes that he gave, so obviously he
spoke to the media teed up these pap shots probably
(16:55):
made a couple of thousand dollars off it.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Well.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
I just think no shame though, because I'm sure Tammy
and Bailey probably did the same thing too. See I
think maybe Tammy called the paps, but Bailey wasn't in
on it, particularly because he gave them the finger. And
I think he's copped a lot in the sports media
over this, like this is something that's probably causing him
a headache at Geelong because they want him to be
focusing on football, not who he's dating. And now at
(17:19):
the moment he's having to contend with his ex Easy Armatage,
who's also an influencer, talking about him on her podcast. Yeah,
so she's come out and made some quite explosive claims.
She hasn't actually named him as per se, but she's
spoken about this footballer that she used to date. So
they used to date back in twenty twenty one. Interestingly,
that podcast was pulled down the day it was uploaded,
(17:41):
and media have been very cautious with the way they've
been reporting on what Izzy said on it. Some of
the claims are very defamatory, so we will be leaving
those for now. But I think this is a bit
of a developing story. Our latest restock and new styles
have arrived in the office, so I thought it would
do a little first impressions together. Chloe Zepp has opened
(18:03):
up about her shock decision to shut down her successful
active wear label ZEP. The od wellness influencer admitted she
has daily thoughts about bringing it back, but concedes it's
unrealistic at the moment. When the news first broke in
April that ZEP was closing down, there was a lot
of discussion about what Chloe would do next. So she's
confirmed that she's now a stay at home mum for
her two young sons, Artie and Sonny, and she and
(18:25):
her fiance Mitch Orville have moved to Newcastle from the
Gold Coast and it appears they're living a pretty normal
simple life. Mitch is now working a nine to five job. Sadly, though,
it seems like the decision to shut ZEP down was
almost forced upon Chloe because she said she just didn't
have the capacity to keep it running. Ultimately, having a
business with the team of staff alongside looking after two
(18:47):
children was just too much for her. I feel this week, Amy,
we can really relate to it because we are under
the pump. It's taken a while to record this podcast. Yes,
I feel for all moms out there and any stay
at home dads as well who are running busyines now.
Chloe admitted that she cried for a month about shutting
down ZEP and said she would bring it back in
a smaller capacity if possible. Do you think people would
(19:08):
actually want it back? Like, does she have that much
demand now? Yeah, she definitely does. When it closed down,
there are a lot of upset people that came out
of the woodwork being like, oh my goodness. They were
the comfiest tights. She definitely had a loyal customer base,
and when she was flat out asked by a follower
during a Q and A if she made the right decision,
she said, I think I could have definitely made other choices.
(19:29):
We had investment opportunities, but at the time it felt
overwhelming in more work, which I didn't have the capacity for.
But I'm sure there's other changes I could have made. First,
I was just in a season that felt big and
overwhelming for me. I felt really sad when I read this,
because it seems like in hindsight, she wishes she kept
it going, especially with investors. Interesting. Yeah, but she did
go on to say that she didn't have any regrets,
(19:49):
as she needed a break after being burnt out from
years of striving. It just makes me wonder if an
investor was interested, could they not have sold ZEP to
that Well, I'm guessing the investor wanted to put money
into it, so I might not have actually wanted to
buy it. I also wonder if one of the main
motivators for getting rid of ZEP was because of Chloe's
dwindling followers. She did have a lot of people drop
(20:10):
off after her controversial views over COVID. I mean, remember
there were people burning their ZEP products. Yeah, that was
five years ago. I think people got over that pretty quickly.
I mean, I don't think the brand was as big
as it was before that, but they still had a
pretty good supporter base, and the fact that someone was
willing to invest in it makes me think that potentially
maybe we could see it return in the future. Chloe
(20:30):
did say that there was potential for future projects. Chloe
also hinted at a possible YouTube return, so. She said
it's been on her heart for the last month and wrote,
I felt the urge to come back on throughout the
highs and lows of motherhood. Truly, the shift to stay
at home mum has been hard, and I'm over here
needing that word of encouragement more than ever too. She
said she was tossing up between whether she would do
a vlog format or a sort of table talk. I
(20:53):
definitely think volog and I'm excited to see those hopefully return. Well,
that's why we're going to wrap things up today. If
you do enjoy the show and want to hear more
content from us, we drop a subscriber only episode every Thursday.
That show is basically an extension of Outspoken, while we
talk even more about influencers. This podcast was recorded on
the traditional land of the Ghana people of the Adelaide Plains.
(21:16):
We pay respect to elders past and present.
