Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello, and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
Amy Torber and coming up on today's show, Chloe Fisher
pulls the pin on her soon to be released sunglass collaboration.
Olivia Rodgers tell All interview with her new boyfriend Hugo Brecki,
Kate Forster slams embarrassing grabby influences, and Sophie J. Miller's
(00:25):
new cookbook tops the charts. But first, Lauren Bullen's business
class woes have continued.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Kate.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Yeah, last week we were talking about how the og
travel blogger was abused by a fellow business class passenger
after her baby daughter cried on her flight to I Betha.
This week, Lauren has opened up about her experience flying
back to Bali on Qatar Airways. So she was flying
business class again. This time she was in the airline's
Q Sweet, and she said it was really fucking good.
(00:53):
So I don't know if you've heard much about Q Sweet, Kate,
but it's basically like a little room for each traveler.
So Lauren said there was even a door or in
her suite, so it was much better. For her and
I suppose the other passengers who didn't have to listen
to her daughter crying. Originally, when I saw the post,
I was like, oh, maybe the airline has reached out
after her bad experience last time, given her some free tickets,
(01:14):
really tried to turn it on for her. But her
praise for Qatar Airlines was pretty short lived because when
she got home to Balley, she found out that only
two of her four bags had arrived at the airport
with her, and her daughter's stroller and car seat were
both missing, with no word on when they would arrive.
And she said that with all the travels she's done
over the years, this has never ever happened to her.
(01:36):
What would you rather kay someone abusing you in business
class and having your bags arrive, or a really pleasant
in flight experience but no bags. Oh that's a tough one.
I'd probably go with being abused in business class because
can you imagine you'd be absolutely exhausted with a baby,
and there's no way you can get that baby home.
You can't put her on a stroller, so you probably
haven't to carry her along with your two bags. I
(01:57):
know there's two others that are missing. No doubt, probably
with all the essentials for the baby in them. Three
things you enjoy doing daily drinking tea, putting on my incense,
slowing down? Are you serious?
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Hi?
Speaker 1 (02:16):
The simple things in life that make me happy. Chloe
Fisher has announced she has walked away from her collaboration
with Pared Eyewear. The popular podcaster was set to release
a sunglass collection with the Australian brand, but announced on
Monday that she was pulling the pin on the collaboration. Okay,
before we get into it, can you bring listeners up
to speed on who Chloe Fisher is. Chloe is probably
(02:38):
best known as the co host of popular Australian podcast
Darling Shine, but she had her first taste of the
spotlight though when she married international DJ Paul Fisher, best
known as Fisher. He is a massive Australian DJ. I
can't quite get my head around everything Chloe does because
it is a lot.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
So.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Not only does she have a very successful podcast, but
she is the founder of a swimwear label, owns a
Seltzer brand, and also a property development company and to
top it all off, she welcomed her first child, Bobby,
in June twenty twenty four. And recently announced she's pregnant
with her second child. And in her spare time, she's
also written a memoir where she discusses fertility, family, grief,
(03:18):
and love and it's set to be released in October,
and it's very highly anticipated because over the last couple
of years she's led a lot of important discussions around fertility.
On her podcast, she bravely shared that she'd had four
miscarriages and eight rounds of IVF before falling pregnant with
her daughter Bobby. Now, alongside all of these various business endeavors,
Chloe also works as an influencer, so she's got over
(03:39):
half a million followers on Instagram and she is a
hot commodity, so she's worked on major campaigns for The Iconic.
She's also partnered with Majuri and she even released a
limited edition handbag collection with Prene and this reportedly sold
out within seven minutes. Yeah, so you can see why
paired Iwear we're very keen to work with her, so
(04:00):
before announcing her collection with the brand, she had a
prior relationship with them as an ambassador. In fact, pared
Iwear still have a dedicated page that allows people to
shop her favorite styles from the brand. So when Chloe
teas that she was releasing her own collection, fans were
really excited, so excited, in fact, it appears some of
them actually purchased from the brand before her collection dropped.
(04:22):
That's dedication.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Well.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
The excitement quickly turned to disappointment, though, with several followers
complaining they still hadn't received orders from the company. One
follower left a message on Chloe's post claiming she was
still waiting for the brand to dispatch an order she
made four weeks ago. This follower alleged that she'd emailed
the company twice but they hadn't replied, and wrote, can
you please help your sisters out? It's not like they
(04:44):
had ten dollar glasses and we have no control over
our order or money. Thank you so much. I'm sure
you'll do the right thing now. Another person replied to
the comment, writing second this, this is so frustrating. They
have taken our money and now disappeared. Now these comments
are still on Chloe's post, but neither Chloe or the
brand replied to them. Then there was another post that
(05:04):
Chloe made and she was wearing sunglasses in it, and
a follower asked her where she got them from now.
Chloe didn't respond, but another disgruntled Paired Eyewear customer wrote,
don't purchase anything from Pired me, along with countless other
customers have been waiting on our orders or refunds since
at least February this year, and they will not respond
to any of our contact. Don't get scammed as well now.
(05:25):
This comment again remained on the post, but was still
unanswered by Chloe or the brand, and it appears that
these complaints could have been the tip of the iceberg,
as On Monday, Chloe released a statement on her Instagram
story that said, Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of my
control and several creative and operational differences, I will no
longer be pursuing this collaboration or having any association with
(05:47):
Paired Eyewear. She also went on to address complaints that
she'd received from her followers, writing I'm aware that some
of you purchase from Pared Eyewear and never receive them.
While I know how disappointing and frustrating this may be,
please know that all sales and fulfillment of these products
were handled directly by Paired Eyewear. My team and I
were not involved in this side of their business. Chloe
(06:09):
then said she was sad and by Howard at all
unfolded and transparency was important to her and she wanted
to keep her followers updated. Now, ped Eewear are yet
to publicly respond to Chloe's update, and the Instagram comments
have been turned off since May. And it's interesting timing
as it seems like the collection was ready to go
and set to launch very soon because in early May,
(06:31):
Peed Eyewear held an event where they previewed Chloe's collection.
So the event had a DJ, it wasn't actually Fisher,
it was a different one, but there were drinks from
Chloe's Seltzer brand as well as of course a sneak
peek of the collection itself, and after the event they
provided transport to Chloe's husband's beachside music festival called out
to launch festival, So it seems like it was only
(06:51):
recently that this was all steam ahead. This is really
awkward for Chloe because she's almost guilty by association. She's saying, oh,
I didn't have anything to do with the fulfilled issues,
but clearly the reason her followers purchased from the brand
is because they trust Chloe, so in turn they trusted
this brand. Yeah, I thought it was a little bit
of a cop out to say, oh, well, you know,
I didn't have anything to do with that. So I'm
(07:12):
kind of cleaning my hands of it, particularly because she
made the post on an Instagram story which disappears after
twenty four hours. So for a lot of these fans
that are still trying to chase up what is going
on with their sunglasses order, they might not have seen it.
There's no permanent spot on her social media for it.
I also struggled to find photos of her promoting the
(07:32):
brand on both her and Paired Eyewear's Instagram accounts. I mean,
as I said, the website still had the sunglasses that
she recommended on them. Look, clearly something major has gone
on with this eyewear company, and it just shows how
careful influences need to be when they are aligning their
personal brand to a product. Because Chloe has done her
(07:53):
due diligence in terms of creating excitement about this launch.
She has worn glasses from this brand for quite some
time and has influenced a lot of people to buy them.
And we're in this space now where we're seeing influencers
actually buying shares into the company you know. Indy Clinton
this week announced that she was a shareholder and booth
(08:15):
hair influencers are going all in with these companies, but
they really need to do their research because if the
company has a history of not fulfilling orders, that's not
a company that you want to work with and align
your brand to.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
So, like all good love stories, it started on a bus.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Olivia Rodgers has given her followers what they've been patiently
waiting for. Fifteen months after hard launching her new boyfriend,
Hugo Braky, she's finally spoken in depth about their relationship.
In fact, she invited him on as a guest on
her podcast. I wasn't surprised when I heard Olivia say
that Hugo was the most requested guest on her podcast.
(08:55):
When I saw this interview pop up, I immediately clicked
on it because ever since she hard launched him back
in June twenty twenty four, they were actually on the
red carpet at the Beauty and the Beast movie premiere.
I was like, I want to know more about this guy,
and to her credit, for around a year now, she
stayed pretty quiet on him. It's only recently that she's
been dropping a few more details about him. I'm wondering
(09:19):
if it's that he's finally comfortable to be mister Rogers.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Well, it sounds like from what they said on this
podcast that their relationship is very serious. I wouldn't be
surprised if we heard news of an engagement soon.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Like Olivia dropped that after their first date, she called
her mum and said, I think he's the one, And
apparently he told his roommate that he'd met his future wife.
So it seems like they're the real deal. And when
I was listening to them, I'm like, they seem perfect
for each other. Oh yeah, because he had very, i
want to say, like rich vibes, sort of private school vibes,
(09:52):
very well spoken. Yeah, he kind of seems like the
male version of her. I was really excited that they
opened up more about how they met, because Olivia has
previous spoken about how her former best friend and stylist
Paul Versaci, introduced her to Hugo on a nightclub dance floor,
and it was cool to hear it from Hugo's perspective
because he revealed that he was actually on a Bucks
night when he was approached by Paul and told that
(10:14):
he was handsome. This is what Hugo said.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
He was on the dance floor having a bit of
a boogie, which I enjoy doing. It's quite late in
the night. Was probably looking to head home relatively soon.
I like early nights and love my sleep. So and
while I was having a boogie, the other gentleman approached
(10:38):
me and he said, you're handsome. Are you single? And
my first reactions were thank you, mate, but I'm not
quite sure we're interested in the same thing.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
He thought he was hitting on you.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
Yeah, yeah, but he quickly matter at apparent that no, no, no,
I've got the perfect girl for you. She's one and
a million. And I mean I probably should have straight
away been like, yeah, that's great, we'll please come and
introduce her to me, but I kind of tried to
(11:12):
bat him away. I was like, mate, I'm about to
go home. I don't worry about it. Thanks though, but
he was very persistent. Yeah, it's a great effect, and
he said wait here, went and grabbed a girl, which
turned out to be you, from the bar and placed
(11:33):
her in front of me.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Can you imagine having some random guy come up to
you on a bus and he's trying to set you
up with his friend and you're like, no, no, go away,
And it ends up being former Miss Universe contestant Olivia Rogers.
We sounded like he had no idea who she actually was. See.
I have my thoughts on that because Olivia said that
she told him she was a speech pathologist and didn't
open up about her job as an influencer because she
thought it might put him off. And he said, you know,
(11:57):
he got home from meeting her and in the morning
he was debriefing with his housemate and he said, oh, yeah,
she put her name into my phone, you know, as live.
He then claimed that Apple somehow has this system where
it populates all their details and it put her full
name in even though she hadn't typed in. Now I
(12:19):
have referred to chat GPT. That is not a function
that Apple office. So I'm calling a bit of bullshit there.
I think he knew who she was. Anyway. It turns
out that the housemate you know, did some stalking found
her profile and was like, mate, this is not her,
surely this is not her. Yeah, that's because Hugo said
he deactivated his Instagram, which I think is a big
tick for him. That is a green flag someone who's
(12:40):
not obsessed with their Instagram. So I originally also thought
it was a green flag. But a friend of mine
was telling me about this guy that they met who
didn't have Instagram, and it turns out that he did
have an Instagram account, it was just under a different name,
and he actually was hiding from her this secret family
that he had.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
I think.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
So, I mean, I think in this instance, you can
tell that Hugo is a really nice I'm not saying
that this is I'm not saying that all that this
is his second souls. I think I think if you're
I know the person you're talking about, and this person
was an athlete, and I think there's a big difference there.
I mean, for Olivia, I think it's good for having
(13:20):
dated Morgan Waterhouse, who all he wanted to do was
share Olivia on his TikTok, and he was clearly looked
like he was a bit of a cloud chaser. I'm sorry, Morgan,
but that's how it came across. This is very refreshing
for Olivia to be going out with a guy that
doesn't seem focused on how many likes and followers, he has.
It's quite funny because it sounded like they were both
extremely intoxicated when they met, because Hugo said it was
(13:42):
at the end of the night and he was about
to leave when Paul came over and said, oh, come
and meet my friend. And they ended up going and
speaking in the smokers area because that was the only
place they could hear each other despite neither of them smoking.
And he said it got to a point where he
knew he had to leave because he slid off the
chair at that point that they got a cab home together.
(14:03):
They actually shared a sneaky kiss in the cab and
then went their separate ways. He said he passed out
when he got home, so I wonder if he was, like,
was that all the dream? Well, it was a Bucks party.
I loved when they spoke about the housemate's reaction because,
as I said, he quickly cottoned onto who Olivia was.
And Olivia went on to explain that they now have
(14:25):
nicknamed the housemate Spike from notting Hill. Let's take a
listen to what she said.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
We ended up nicknaming him Spike because he would joke
about the fact that our love story was like Notting
Hill and you were here Grant and I was Julia
Roberts and he was the weird housemate.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
You should definitely comes out John the Packs.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
I love that movie and it made me laugh. But
I also was like, oh, it would have been funnier
if the story came from Hugo, because there was something
about Olivia comparing herself to an A list movie star
that was like, Oh, I don't know if you should like,
don't you say that out look? I know it could
have come across as being a bit like into herself,
but let's be honest. We're literally talking about her on
(15:13):
a podcast, you know. Yeah, breakup was covered in the
Heraldsione exactly. She is big in Australia and I love
that it's Hugo. He's been compared to Hugh Grant. He
did have Hugh Grant vibes. I get it.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
Well.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
The references to her celebrity status didn't end there, because
on their first date, for some reason, they decided to
catch up at seveno thirty on a Monday morning at
a coffee shop, like, hell, that's my absolute nightmare, and
Olivia said that she actually looks kind of puffy in
the morning, so she kept her sonnies on and Hugo
(15:47):
said that he thought that she was doing it because
she didn't want to get papped out. This is giving
me more green flags for Hugo because he seems really
cute and that he doesn't understand anything about how the
paparazzi work, like they're not just randomly papping Olivia Rodgers out.
She'd have to organize that with the paparazzi. Well, at
least she didn't call the paps to her first date
like other influences that amy. You were talking about Hugo
(16:11):
being confused, But was it only me that was confused
when he was explaining what his job was, because he
said he is a management consultant and he has a
background in chemical engineering, which sounds very impressive, and then
he did this whole spiel about what he does and
I still didn't get it. And it turns out Olivia
is the same. So she said that she had to
(16:32):
get him to explain his job twice to her so
she could actually relay that information to her mum. Later.
It gave massive Chandler being vibes, like nobody obviously knew
what Chandler's job was. I think it's one of those
jobs that you kind of just nod and go, oh okay, yep. Yeah,
it sounded really important because recently he's been flowing back
to Perth every week working on a special project. Olivia
(16:54):
summarized it, saying he's a professional problem solver. As we
were saying before, it does seem like they're fit. Based
on my parasocial relationship with Olivia gaved, he came across
I do approve he came across as really emotionally mature,
and I was taken aback when he bravely spoke about
losing his dad to suicide when he was in year twelve.
(17:15):
So his dad was an an ethetist, and he said
that they lived this picture perfect life in an affluent
area near the beach, and it really went to show
that you can seemingly have everything, but if your mental
health isn't good, then it doesn't really make a difference. Yeah,
considering this is Hugo's first time really in the public eye,
it was great that he shared that story and I
think it gave a lot more insight into who he
(17:37):
is as a person. Yeah, it was a real turning
point in the interview because they were speaking, you know,
joking around about how they met, and it gave a
lot more depth into who he is and why they're
so well served because they're both so passionate about mental health.
It surprised me to hear that Hugo actually used to
play in the Waffle and that he'd wanted to become
(17:58):
an AFL player, because I didn't get that vibe at
all when he spoke about his job.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
Now.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
The Waffle is the Western Australian Football League. Amy it's
not a dessert for anyone wondering. But look, I wasn't
surprised because I remember when they first started dating. I
did a bit of a stalk and I think I
came across his LinkedIn in an article about him, and
I said something about him playing footy, and he kind
of gives me footy vibes, like he's a good looking guy,
(18:24):
and you know, he went to an affluent private school.
They always seemed to get them into footy. It did
surprise me that he was trying to play AFL, though,
and that he stopped his you know, footy career when
he was you know, early twenties to go do this
graduate job. It sounds like he got a lot of
injuries and had to give footy up well fum fat.
He also plays the bagpipes and the trumpet, which another
(18:46):
surprising inclusion which I did say he was giving rich vibes.
That really gives almost like royal family vibes. The fact
that he can play the bagpipes. Yeah, that was a
little bit random. I mean, he did mention that his
f was from the UK and his mum was from
New Zealand, which again surprised me because his accent like
he had a private school twang. But then he'd say
(19:08):
stuff that was very oker as well.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Well.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
As soon as he said his mum was from New Zealand,
suddenly I could hear something. I was like, oh, did
you think At one point they were trying to throw
a bit of shade at Olivia's ex husband, Justin mckinn,
because Olivia said she knew her listeners would be upset
if she didn't ask Hugo about how he felt about
her being divorced, and he went on to say that
he had a lot of respect about how brave she
was to make that decision and it really didn't impact
(19:32):
their relationship at all. But then she goes, oh, well,
I suppose it impacted our relationship for me because I'm
trying to navigate this new relationship after being in this
very toxic one. And she spoke about how her psychologist
told her that perhaps Hugo and her could heal together,
and then Hugo was like, you know, I've learned things
(19:52):
that help Olivia feel more comfortable. For example, you know,
I text her to make sure she knows if I'm
going to be late home because I know it was
really triggering for Olivia after an incident, and I was like, oh, well,
I was the incident. Well, I wondered if that was
shade at Morgan Waterhouse. No, I think it was very
much shade at Justin. She was talking about this very
toxic relationship and that's very much how she's spoken about
(20:14):
her marriage to Justin. Well. Last week, Olivia shed this
TikTok that went viral. I don't know if you saw it, Kate,
but it was one of those photo posts, and she
was explaining she was opening up about their relationship and
how they met and how like she never thought after
leaving her marriage that she would end up in such
a healthy relationship. I mean, you could tell how healthy
it is. I was actually having a little bit of
(20:35):
a look back at the timeline because it seems like
it was just yesterday that she debuted him on her Instagram.
But they've actually been living together for a year now,
and as I mentioned in the interest, she hard launched
him in June twenty twenty four. In the podcast, she
said they met in December twenty twenty three, so they're
nearly celebrating their two year And wow, that seems crazy
(20:57):
because it doesn't sound, it doesn't seem like that long
ago she was dating Morgan. Well, to give you an
update on that timeline, it was only in December twenty
twenty three that she announced that she was single and
had broken up with Morgan Waterhouse, so that was the
same month that she met Hugo. It seems like they'd
been broken up for a while though, ever since they
got back from Balley in August twenty twenty three. Let's
call that relationship what it was, a rebound I feel
(21:21):
seem so I wait, I knew have to say it
right here. I have my cookbook. Yeah, I'm going to
open it and see you by the modde Queen's Eide influencers,
Sophie Jane Miller has revealed her soon to be released
cookbook has already topped the book Topia charts. The book,
entitled Simply Scromptureus, is currently on pre sale for fifty
four ninety five, with it officially dropping on the seventeenth
(21:43):
of November. I have been waiting for the release of
this book since Sophie first logged about it back in
May of twenty twenty four. I actually wondered if it
was still going ahead because it has been such a
long wait. Well, in terms of influencer cookbooks, I've only
got Sarah's Day's release tick to and I think she
was working on that for around three years, so maybe
it's not that long. What's interesting you mentioned Sarah because
(22:06):
Sophie and Sarah share the same publisher, so Brio Books
published both of their cookbooks and they were actually acquired
by book Topia in twenty twenty one, and book Topia
went into voluntary administration in July twenty twenty four. It
was right after Sarah's Day's book got published, and last
year it was bought by Shidden Kajan, who owns Digidirect.
(22:29):
So I'm guessing that maybe this new management and restructuring
is what has affected the release of Sophie's book. Well,
that all makes sense. I mean, it doesn't seem to
have had much of an impact on the success of
this book so far. As you said, it's hit number
one on the book Topia charts. It's always interesting to
me when an influencer like Sophie Jane Miller releases something
because she's not like one of the biggest influencers in Australia.
(22:50):
She's got one hundred k on Instagram, she's got three
hundred k on YouTube, but clearly her followers are very
loyal and committed because it's a pretty big feat number one.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
Well, I was a bit concerned for Sophie because she's
one of my favorite influencers at the moment, and I
was worried that because it had been such a long
time between her making this book and it being sold,
that it might not resonate as well with her audience.
Because she's really moved somewhat away from sharing about health
and fitness and cooking. She's now better known as being
(23:21):
a booktoker. She talks a lot about matches, she's got
her own match a line. But it really goes to show,
as you said, the power of having such an engaged audience.
I wonder how established cookbook authors feel when something like
this happens, because we've only just gone through the whole
shit storm with Brookie Bakes and Nagi not saying anything
like that is going to happen off the back of
Sophie's book. But it does seem like influencers are really
(23:43):
dominating the book charts. I mean, Sarah's Day's Cookbook was
also number one on book Topia. Just recently Steph Pace
released her book that was number one on a different
book chart. So obviously this ability to pre release a
book and have orders come in from a dedicated audience
off the back really helps these books. What's kind of
(24:04):
the new version of all the celebrity biographies. There's this
in bill audience to sell to, and it makes a
lot of sense for these publishers to be working with
influences because of that in bill audience.
Speaker 5 (24:16):
Versus this adorable greenber Ice Machelte.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Sydney cafe The Orange Lantern has been called out after
allegedly enforcing an influencer only glassware rule. The cafe had
been promoting its instaworthy drinks across social media in the
lead up to its new store opening in Haymarket. A
big part of the attraction was its much of offering,
which appeared in a stunning curved glass featuring a much
teddy bear inside. These drinks were so aesthetically pleasing and
(24:43):
they were a big part of why people wanted to
go along to this cafe launch. Everyone wanted to snap
a photo of this glass. It reminds you of that
cafe fifty six to one. I don't know if it's
just an Adelaide thing. We had a couple of them
here and you'd have lineups out the door. Yeah, because
people all wanted to take a photo of them with this,
Like it was a milkshake and it just had stuff
hanging off. It had like a donor and a waved cream.
(25:04):
It was just ridiculous, like you couldn't even get through
it all. This is the opposite of that, because everyone
wants a matcher now to seem as if they've been
really healthy, and to celebrate the launch, this cafe came
up with this promotion where you could get fifty percent
off your drink if you were one of the first
one hundred customers, and just to give you an idea,
a coconut ice matcher from here will cost you sixteen
(25:25):
dollars for one chick for one drink. So these girls
went along to the launch and they were really disappointed
because they were expecting these beautiful glasses to come out
and they were served their matcher in plastic cups. To
make matters worse, they looked behind them and there was
a group of influencers there and they received theirs in
(25:46):
the fancy cups. And to make matters even worse, the
influencers didn't even drink their matches, so they just left
them on the table and these girls they take a
photo of them. Well you must have. So these girls
complained to the stuff and said, well why did we
get plastic cups and they get the fancy ones, and
they said, well, they're only for influencers. If you wanted
a glass cup, you should have rung up in advance
(26:08):
to say that you'd be reviewing the matcher. That is
false advertising. And I actually think that the glass a
drink is served in has the ability to enhance the taste.
So I am a coke zero connoisseur, and firstly, I
hate post mix. It has to be a coke from
either a can or a glass bottle, and I like
(26:29):
to have it in a very cold glass pellet ice Amy.
We've spoken about that is the preferable option to make
it extra crispy, but I feel like the much I
wouldn't have tasted as good in the plastic glass give it.
The whole point is you're going to this instagram worthy
cafe to take a picture of your instagram worthy drink.
You don't want it in a fucking plastic cup. It's
(26:51):
like they're like, oh, here you go, plubs, yeah, cup,
get out.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
And it's really stupid because we now know with the
nature of TikTok, videos will go viral. You can and
anybody like you can be anybody and have a video
go viral. So it was a really silly move. It's
backfired on them because the complaint's gone viral.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
So the cafe received so much backlash that they were
forced to put out a statement, and it was a
pretty good statement. They apologized for the move and they
basically said the reason that they did it was because
they wanted to serve the customers faster due to their
fifty percent of promotion, and they said, we didn't just
give away one hundred drinks. We actually ended up serving
drinks that were fifty percent off up until three pm,
(27:29):
and they said they've now gone back to serving the
drinks in their cute cups. Okay, well, it seems to
have been a bit of a supply and demand thing
and they were trying to keep everyone happy. But I
think they should have briefed their staff to actually communicate
with people better than saying, oh, we didn't get the
glass because you're not. The issue is if it was
a supply and demand issue, then everybody should have been
given the plastic cups.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
There was one who behaves so badly that I really
want to message them and say, fucking you are about
to have your pedestal tipped.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
My friend. Author and social commentator Kate Forster has dropped
some juicy details about the recent influencer event held by
Chemists Warehouse, declaring she was embarrassed for some of the
influencers in attendance due to their antics. So the way
Chemist's Warehouse did it was they opened up the event
to influencers on the Friday and then to the general
public on the Saturday. Kate was at both of the
(28:21):
days and she actually recorded two live podcasts on the Saturday,
and it turns out someone spilt some serious tea to
her about the influencers in attendance, so she didn't disclose
who it was, but reading between the lines, it seems
like it was some of the staff in attendance.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
This is what she said, fucking loose lip sync ships.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Man.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
People will tell you stuff, and if you have behaved badly,
I know about it. Oh, I want to tell me shit.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
Tell me everything I want to know. I want to
know anyway, who was great?
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Who was shit? Who was a brat?
Speaker 5 (28:57):
Who fucking wanted to lave after forty minutes because it
was it's a little bit boring. Who walked in ignored everyone,
did a photo shoot and walked out again? Like who
fucking gave extra? Who fucking showed up and would talk
to anyone like a normal person. I've got all the
fucking names, But Jesus Christ, who were the fucking influencers
(29:19):
stayed after that closed and was running around the shelves
grabbing shit off and putting it in their bags and
having to be told off. Who were the people who
were trying to get their fucking three and five year
old Who they'd taken us plus one's extra bags, extra
fucking goodie bags. Like the fucking grabbiness of it. Man,
(29:40):
I'm embarrassed for you. I'm so embarrassed.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
Fuck she is funny. I would be absolutely quaking in
my boots if I was one of these badly behaved influences. Oh,
I just want to know who it is. We do
know who. It wasn't because Paul Olivia White. She got
caught up in all of this drama. People were like, hey,
she was at the event and she had kids there,
it must have been her. Yeah, that's because she shared
a hale on TikTok of what she got in the
(30:06):
goodie bag, and her two kids were watching on like
absolutely loving every minute of it. It was like it
was Christmas time. I couldn't believe how many products they
got given. It was crazy. Well, spoiler alert, it wasn't
Olivia White. Let's take listen to what she said.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Overnight my video just like sharing the Chemist Warehouse event
and like what was in our goodie bag has like
blown up, and now I have a whole bunch of
people asking me if I was like the influencer that
Kate was talking about or Blake. Did my daughter get
a goodie bag?
Speaker 4 (30:42):
No, I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
My daughter did not take a goodie bag. She was
offered one very nicely by the lovely gentleman at the
door as we left, but I said, no, she doesn't.
She doesn't need one, and that was not my intention
of taking her. We were just having girls' day out
because she's and that was really cool for her. I
also did not run around and just grab a whole
(31:06):
bunch of stuff, as some people are accusing me of.
In fact, I actually get my goody bag away. I
get my goody bag away every year I've been for
the last five years. I did a little giveaway on
my page. Threey been sent to the person and donated
some of the sort of like yeah, Core products. Not
gonna make a big deal about it, But I don't
think Kate was talking about me now.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Kate ended up backing up Olivia's claims in the comment
section of her post, and she's also released a new
TikTok where she's given further details about the influencers she
had positive interactions with. Let's take a listen, Laura DeSantis.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
I think her name was fucking Cracker. What a great chick.
She's on Instagram tops Nicky and Joy. I had no
idea who she was. I had no idea. I had
a lovely chat to her. Nicky is in a lovely name,
really nice person. Moana Hope hilarious, Uh, really good vow.
Influencer Updates girl Amber, she was really lovely. We talked
(32:04):
about the burger that she was about today. Tammy han Brown,
she was there with her sister Amy, very nice, had
a photo. I don't know why I'm a nobody.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
I love the Amber from Influence Updates has gotten a
shout out there. We had Amber on our podcast and
she is an absolute delight. I was Tammy Hembro. I
was glad about her too. My favorite part of Kate's
story was the fact that she mistaken Emmy Lou for
a member of staff at the event. So she woll
up to it. She said she was wearing a tracksuit
and she's like, oh, so where do I go to
find the podcast stage And Kate's daughter was there and
(32:39):
she's like, Mum, that was Emmy Lou and she's like,
Emmy who it sounds like Emmy Lou took it quite well.
Pretty awkward though for Kate, because Emmy has her own
perfume line with Chemi's Warehouse, so I'm guessing that there
might have been some promo with her photo on it. There,
let's get into our Friday debrief. We've got some podcast news.
Sophie is officially back on Tuesday. Yes, exciting for Sophie.
(33:00):
I think she's been climbing the walls, so she's very
excited to come back on the podcast. It means Sophie
and I will now be doing week on, week off.
I mean, Kate, I think you're most happy for Sophie's return.
And a heated moment that didn't make it on the air,
you said that you're kind of looking forward to me leaving. Look,
I mean we've been doing this together, what now, for
nearly weeks, weeks just the two of us. I think
(33:21):
this always happens, So it might be like a breath
of fresh air, going one week on, one week off
with each of you. Yeah, you can hate on me
one week and then hay on Sofi.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Well, it's just we all have very different ways of working,
and I suppose when you're working on a podcast together
and it's an opinion based podcast, you're gonna clash, So
it's just normal. Wasn't that our old promo for the podcast,
and sometimes things can get heated. Yeah, well, I'm actually
looking forward to tomorrow because it's the first day the
three of us are going out together without our children
(33:51):
to do something for the podcast. Yes, I don't want
to be that asshole that's teasing things, but I'm going
to be because we've got a exciting shoe on tomorrow
spoiler alert, it isn't a candle like kick released. Wouldn't
it be funny if we were releasing our own range
of weird smell I've I've already got a perfect one.
We could do one based on the smell of Lily
(34:11):
Brown's pajamas. That was a story a few years ago,
the Smelly Pegae's. It would be funny to come up
with what we think influencers smell like, because with Tammy
Hembro I reckon, she would have the smell of the ocean.
She alway seems to be done at the beach. It's terrible, said,
it's terrible. I don't know if you've seen this TikTok
or maybe this is just my very immature algorithm, but
there are these videos where people post photos of their
(34:32):
teachers from school and they play a farting noise in
the background, saying, I bet this is what their fart
sounds like. And I said to you, that would be
hilarious to do for influences, but I didn't know if
I was offensive. I was like, is this too mean?
I think that's pretty mean, but it was hilarious, and
it's that weird thing where you're like, why does this
make so much sense?
Speaker 3 (34:50):
It did.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Look, I think we're going to wrap things up there
now that were talking about farts before we go, though,
if you do want to hear more from us, not
about farts, but just about influence, says. We have our
subs episode which we release every Thursday, which is basically
an extension of this show, and if you did enjoy
the episode, we would really love if you could leave
us a five star review because it really helps out
(35:12):
the show. This episode was recorded on the traditional land
of the Ghana people of the Adelaide Planes. We pay
respect to elders past and present,
