Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
Sophie Torbah and coming up on today's show, Sarah's Day's
awkward hand injury Update, Booth, Hair's surprising new ambassador, and
Olivia Rodgers' shock wedding day revelations. But first beloved Math's

(00:24):
couple Martha Califatitis and Michael Brunelli, have announced their pregnant
with their second child. The news was met with the
usual fanfare, However, there was an undertone of apprehension Kate
in the comments section. Yes so. Among the whirl wishers
were a lot of followers praying that Martha had an
easier pregnancy this time around, because when she fell pregnant
with her first son, Lucius, she experienced a rare condition

(00:47):
called HG. This completely wiped her out for her whole pregnancy.
I remember she was stuck in bed for months on end.
She said she couldn't eat or drink, and over a
five week period she lost ten kilos. To make matters worse,
the co people were in Europe when the condition first hit.
I remember photos emerged of Martha being wheeled off a plane. Well,
it's really sad because unfortunately this time around things have

(01:09):
played out in a similar way. So the caption of
this post did hint that Martha wasn't feeling well, so
alongside a video of her son kissing her pregnant belly,
she wrote, knocked up and knocked out. We'll be back
bigger and better soon, fingers crossed. Unfortunately, Martha was overseas
also again when the HG symptoms kicked in this time around.

(01:29):
So Martha and Michael were on an overseas brand trip
with their son and Martha's parents, and before embarking on
the trip, they knew Martha was pregnant, but they hoped
that she wouldn't experience HG this time around. However, when
they were in Hong Kong, she ended up starting to
feel nauseous and then when they got to Jubai she
was bed ridden for five days. And it was really
tricky because they were having to shoot all of this

(01:49):
content for this brand trip and a lot of her
followers were picking up that she wasn't actually in the content.
Michael ended up sharing a photo dump on the weekend explaining, yes,
this is actually where it hit and a lot of
you picked it up, and we actually took this photo
to try and get people off the scent. Well, it
got so bad that doctors had to come to her
hotel room and give her medication and IV fluids. It
sounds horrendous, particularly happening in such a hot and humid

(02:11):
place like Hong Kong. Yeah. Well they're back home now,
and Michael explained that Martha had to spend a lot
of time in a dark room away from her son,
which was really difficult for both of them. Paul Luch
has apparently been stressing and been very clinging with Michael.
The good news is Martha has been making slow improvements,
but she still is suffering, but it seems to be
getting slightly easier for her. It's just so brave for

(02:33):
her to have a second child with that looming over you,
knowing that that's a potential. I mean, it's hard enough
being pregnant and being a mum without suffering from that
condition beforehand. Oh. I just don't know how she does it,
And I just really hope that she continues to improve
and feel better, because I mean, God, how tough would
that be. Also having a toddler that you're having to
parent as well. I mean, thank goodness for Martha that

(02:55):
she has the support of Michael and her parents as well.
She still lives with her parents, doesn't she. Yeah, they
all still live together, so I'm sure that would be
a great help. But again, like, it's not what you
want to be knocked out in bed for nine months.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
All right, it's Tony, are vulnerable? Get deep. We've got
someone on my chest, guys.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
New haircare brand Boof Hair is making headlines again for
executing yet another clever marketing campaign. This time, the team
is making a play for the boys, revealing a new
male ambassador which is set to make them serious bank So.
The brand attracted attention at the start of the year
for teasing that Indy Clinton had started an officer's job
with them, and now they've turned their attention to a

(03:35):
new ambassador. Yeah, they have been teasing this ambassador for
a while now, and they made the reveal last week
to their thirty eight thousand followers by sharing a real
declaring that Boof is for the boys too now. In
the video, they poked fun at Booth's most recent campaign
with Indy Clinton, and in the opening scene we see
the new ambassador from behind, looking into a fridge full

(03:57):
of Booth's hair Tonic, and they were wearing the iconic
blonde wig the Indy Clinton copped so much shit for
wearing in the first campaign. Yeah, and before revealing the
ambassador's identity, it flashed back and forth a vision of
Indie in the wig and then the new ambassador. Then
the new Ambassador flicks their hair to reveal that it
is in fact Jack Still from The Inspired Unemployed. Were

(04:18):
you surprised when he was unveiled? I was surprised, but
I think it's a stroke of genius because I am
a big fan of The Inspired Unemployed. I listened to
their podcasts, I watched their shows, and for quite some
time it's been clear that Jack has struggled with his
receding hairline. When I say that, I actually personally haven't
noticed that it's receding myself. But he gets a lot

(04:39):
of shit from Falcon and the other boys about it.
It seems like it's a real insecurity for him. So
as soon as I saw it, I'm like, Wow, that
is a really fantastic, genuine collaboration that makes sense. I
think it's pretty brave of him to put himself out
there because being a male, I think that it's a
bit of a taboo subject to talk about the fact
that you care about your hair and your appearance, particularly

(05:01):
in the field that he's in, Like he's going to
have a lot of jokes made about him, but he's
almost taking the power back in this situation. But then
I also feel like it's becoming quite popular for men,
particularly on podcasts, to talk vulnerably about things. And there'd
be so many of the Inspired Unemployed audience who were
in their thirties who were also going through the struggles
of hair loss. So I'm interested. Is it a completely

(05:22):
new product specifically for men or is it just that
booth is good for men and women. No, it's actually
a gender neutral product, so it's for anyone with thinning hair,
but obviously they're trying to promote the fact that it
helps men with early baldness as well. I just think
that it's so clever because anything that the Inspired Unemployed
seemed to touch turns to goal. You only have to

(05:43):
look at the success of Better Beer, their beer brand
to see that they can make sales. I had a look.
The brand is now estimated to be worth thirty seven
million dollars. They've got a lot of fingers in pires
because Jack and Falcon also recently launched a travel brand
and app. What kind of makes sense because they had
a travel show where base sickly. Instead of ticking things
off your bucket list that you want to do, they

(06:03):
were doing all the things that you wouldn't want to do.
So again, it seems to be good branding there and
good crossover now. This video announcing Jack as a new
ambassador performed really well on their socials. It attracted two
hundred and thirty six thousand views, and there were plenty
of influencers hitting up the comments section, with Nicki Wescott
calling the video iconic and Jack's girlfriend Eden writing my

(06:26):
girlfriend is so cute. One follower also declared that this
was the collaboration everyone needed. It's so interesting that Jack
is dating Eden because she is a model that I
think a lot of listeners will recognize. Like she used
to do all the co Co and Lola stuff. Was
she on Kokie as well?

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Cookai Like literally I bought so many artists of clothing
just because she modeled it. She's just that star she is.
I saw this video where I think she put it
up and she said, when you surprise your boyfriend overseas,
and she saw Jack was at a supermarket and she
just ran up to him out of nowhere. He had
no idea that she was even in the country. And
there were so many nasty comments saying, oh, it gives

(07:03):
all the ugly guys hope that a hot girl will
be after us, and all this sort of stuff, And
I'm like, I think Jack steals hot, Like I think
I actually think, I said to Brandon. I don't know
if it's just because they're both really funny and I
have great personalities. I think they're both good looking guys.
I mean, they're both good looking guys, but I suppose
there might be a portion of their audience now that
are a bit mif that they're dating models. They've kind

(07:24):
of got that Hamish and Andy vibe. I mean Andy
went for a couple of supermodels as well, but he
was CLEO Bachelor of the Year for a long time too.
Is Meek and Gale's supermodel? Would you consider her super Yeah?
I suppeisely she's a supermodel, and that's just one supermodel
or whatever. He dated attractive women. Now getting into how
Jack broke the news on his Instagram. He did open
up about his receding hairline in an Instagram story. Let's

(07:46):
have a listen to some of what he said.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
I'm receding. Yeah, probably only know from the podcast or
from the billboard. I can put up with me in
the middle of the city that was the size of
a freaking truck, or because you just come up to
me in the middle of the street or the airport
and tell me so to that. I got feelings, no stress.
What did I do though to avoid a trip to Turkey?
Because cparently, I have to sleep upright for two weeks
and you obviously know if you listen to podcasts or

(08:09):
you just know right now, I sleep shit and I'm
fucking weird oversleep, So I oh, I have been using this.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Jack then went on to say that he's been using
the product for six weeks, and he did a close
up on camera of how his hair has been thickening up,
and he told all of his Forehead Zellers and Forehead
brothers that there was no need to worry or stress
anymore because the tonic actually works. They must be paying
him a lot of money because he also followed it

(08:40):
up by creating a comedy skit about the product, which
he shared to his three hundred and twenty five thousand followers.
And in the video, Jack is having a massage with
his dad and he asks him when he first started
losing his hair. Let's throw it to the clip.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Yeah, in my early thirties. Just noticed my fire old
is getting bigger. Really Yeah, within a year most of
it was gone and the rain hurt and the rain
drops hit my head and they're not transformed into devon
head and it's just stuck with me ever since you're right,
how well are you again?

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Now? Jack, who recently just turned thirty, immediately jumped up
from the massage table and ran to the nearest public
phone box to order the hair tonic, and then, in
what looks like a drug deal, he gets the goods
and immediately puts the tonic on his hair. It was
a very clever video. Yeah, it was very funny. In
the caption, he wrote, just want to let you all
know that I have been using this for about six

(09:34):
weeks now and can confirm that it's good shit. I'm
really interested to see how well this product sells and
if it does in fact sell out I'm quite intrigued
to see how this actually works, because I think a
lot of guys would be happy to borrow their girlfriends
but might not actually want to make the commitment to
buy their own. But maybe that's the beauty in it
that you know, as a couple, you can share your

(09:55):
hair treatment. In terms of how this ambassador role works,
boof Hair actually said we welcome him to the family.
So initially I was like, I wonder if he's also
got shares in this business, a bit like Indy Clinton.
But I think that that was just a way of
welcoming him. I don't necessarily think that he'd buy into this.
It's a very clever way to show that this product
is for more than just postpartum women.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
I almost wrapped up this blog without telling you what.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Actually happened to my hand. Sarah's Day has opened up
for the first time about how she injured her hand.
The YouTuber was set to launch her latest fitness program
when she sustained a suspected torn ligament in her thumb.
So if many followers feared this injury was going to
jeopardize the launch of her five to sixty challenge, Yeah,
many people thought maybe it would rule her out from

(10:39):
taking part, which would have been very detrimental to the
launch of this program because I think a huge selling
point is the fact that Sarah is supposed to be
doing the challenge alongside her fans. Yeah, I think her
taking part in the challenge is a big draw card,
particularly when she shares videos of her doing the different workouts.
And we have spoken about this program before, but just
to refresh listeners, men, you have to complete sixty workouts

(11:02):
in sixty days, so it's pretty intense. Luckily for Sarah,
she has been able to adapt the program around her injury,
so she has just been swapping some exercises out for others. Now,
this injury took place a couple of weeks ago, but
Sarah has chosen not to divulge what actually happened until now.
And this was very unlike her because usually she'd be

(11:23):
on her stories giving her followers a blow by blow.
She originally teased her audience by saying that it happened
in an embarrassing way. I mean, we were hypothesizing a
couple of weeks ago what that could have been, and
I was pretty surprised when I found out what actually happened. Yeah,
I feel like you were thinking of sex injury or something.
I just was like, oh, what could be so embarrassing? Like, well,

(11:44):
she's gone into what actually happened in her recent YouTube video,
and as she always does, she hooked her followers in
by saying she was going to work up the courage
throughout the vlog to explain what actually happened to her hand,
and she said that she hasn't told the story of
how she sustained this injury because she feared it would
be taken out of context and misconstrued. Knowing how the

(12:05):
injury occurred not to continue to tease, but I can
understand why she was so reluctant to actually share how
it happened. Well before we actually found out what caused
the injury, we were taken along to her specialist appointment
and she showed her close up of just how bad
the bruising was. She also said the first two days
of the injury were brutal, but now she's managed to

(12:26):
adapt and straight after leaving her appointment, she jumped on
her camera to tell her followers that thankfully she doesn't
have to have surgery on it, and it ended up
that the ligament was not detached like she feared. Sarah
also mentioned that the specialist told her that the inside
ligament was torn, but not the outside. I think Sarah
really wanted to make sure her audience knew how painful

(12:48):
this injury was and that she's not like she was
faking it. Yeah, it didn't look fun now. It wasn't
until the end of the vlog that we found out
what actually happened. So she was standing alongside Kurt in
the kitchen when she she explained that it was a
situation of bad timing. Let's have a listen to some
of what she said.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
Basically, it was a situation of bad timing. Kurt was
annoying me or like what were you you doing?

Speaker 3 (13:12):
I was laying down in bed, and I was like
teasing you in some way shape or for me, and
I went to.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Be like stop. A classic Kurt, being a black belt
jiu jitsu.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
He blocks everything, even if I'm like, oh, like look
at that house nicely, he.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
Blocks all the time.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
So anyway, his reflex, his knee blocked my hand and
ripped all the way back.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
As you came in too, like grabbing me. I tucked
my knees up to my chest. Because that's how you
would That's how you came at me.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
One one here I can't remember, but I tuck my
knees up anyways with reflex like and then you went
born and then.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
You went ah, yeah, it really hurt. But the worst
part was the sound. It was like cellophane. It bent
all the way back and it was like cellophane crunching.
As soon as it happened, I was like, I.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Knew I had done something, and then you got angry
at me if it was my fault, like blocking.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Me all the time and story I love having a
protective husband, like look, block for the family, don't block
the white Okay, let.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Me just corress you. So they were essentially play fighting
in bed. Yes, it sounds like that's what's happened. Kurt
being the jiu jitsu champion that he seems to be
has blocked her arm. I can see why she held
her from telling this story and was worried it'll be
taken out of context, because you would really want to
get the description of what happened, right. You want to

(14:30):
be concise in telling this story. Yeah, and with the
climate of the internet, particularly TikTok, I think there is
a chance people can run with an unfair, untrue narrative,
and I think that's what would have been playing on
her mind. I'm actually surprised she didn't just come up
with a fake story, but in saying that people can
genuinely tell through a fake story, then they might have
blown her out of proportion even more when they found

(14:51):
out what actually happened. I think it was good. Maybe
she gave a bit of space and time to consider
how she was going to explain it, and particularly also
having Kurt on camera when she explained it was a
good move too. Do you play fight with your husband?
I want to know, Well, not like this, Like my
my husband doesn't have any martial arts skills. So I mean,
if we were in the kitchen, sometimes he might like
creep up and grab me from behind, or like tickle

(15:14):
me and stuff like that. But I wouldn't say we'd
play for it. What about you? I can see how
something like this could happen because I feel like sometimes
men like to get silly and like pick you up
and swing you around that sort of thing. But yeah,
just brand and play fight with you. I remember, well
when we used to have stairs in our house. I
feel like you used to like poke each other's ass
or something, if you're going up the stairs, something like that,
which could lead to someone falling down the stairs. Isn't

(15:35):
that just such a universal male thing for me? If
your partner walks past just to poke them, like I
would be making Kurt for really bad if I were Sarah,
particularly because this has almost derailed her fitness program. Oh,
I can imagine how annoyed she would be, because I
remember when she first broke the news about her hand,
she was like, Oh, I haven't changed one single nappy.
Kurt's been doing everything, and obviously she was like, you

(15:56):
could do everything now. Did he seem remorseful in the vlog?
I think I felt bad, but I don't think he
was particularly remorseful because it was an accident. She was
the only person who knew just how scared I was
that day. I didn't know if I was doing the
right thing. She didn't think I was doing the right thing.
Olivia Rodgers has broken down whilst recounting the moment her
mum told her to call off her wedding to ex

(16:18):
husband Justin McKean. The former Miss Universe contestant, revealed there
was an incident a few days before the wedding that
crossed her boundaries. So if this was an absolutely fascinating interview.
I've heard Olivia interviewed quite a number of times on
a podcast, but this was unlike I'd heard her before. Yeah,
she was incredibly candid in this interview. It took place
on the Inherited podcast, which interestingly is a podcast that's

(16:40):
run by her friends Michelle Andrews and Zara McDonald. Yeh,
but they don't conduct the interviews. They have Ruby Hall there,
who does a great job. But I wonder if it
would have even been taken that next level if it
had been Michelle and Zara having that friendship there. Then again,
I feel like it was almost good having Ruby who
was a bit of an outsider, because I feel like
Michelle and Zara because they would have been probably aware

(17:01):
of these stories, you know, when it's sometimes awkwuld when
someone's having to explain something that they've already explained to
their friends before, or maybe they know too much that
they wouldn't provide the extra context that listeners don't know.
I mean, Michelle and Zara were main characters and one
of the biggest stories that Olivia spoke about which was
the sexual assault case that she ended up taking to court.
Michelle and Zara were witnesses to that assault, and that's

(17:22):
why I think it's good that there was someone who
was a bit removed. Interviewing her now, Olivia was asked
when she started seeing red flags in this relationship. She
said it happened as early as six months in, but
she chose to ignore the signs, and she went on
to describe herself as being a serial girlfriend, where she
had a history of dating people who weren't right for her.

(17:43):
It was so interesting hearing her speak about the way
she sees herself because I know previously in interviews she's
spoken about how she was a bit of a dorky
kid growing up and was really surprised that she was
essentially headhunted for modeling. It is easy to forget that
that was her back. I mean, you look at her now.
She is such a stunning person inside and out. She

(18:04):
comes across as very confident on her social media. So
for someone like her to be saying, oh, you know,
I used to date these loser guys because I wasn't
very confident. I think there were so many listeners that
could relate to it. I mean I could relate to it.
I'm like, oh, I used to do that in my
twenties as well. Yeah. Well, she said that because she
was such an insecure teenager, it then sort of bled
into her twenties and she essentially dated men for validation. Now,

(18:28):
when she met Justin, she said that she felt like
he had his shit together because he was five years
older than her, and she said it was the first
mature relationship she'd been in, and things moved really quickly.
So they moved in together, they got a dog together,
and by the time that those red flags started appearing,
she said she already felt like she had too much
to lose. And she said, maybe to people who don't

(18:50):
own dogs it would sound ridiculous, but the thought of
her leaving her dog behind was really tough. If things
if they broke up. And I think that's something a
lot of us go through and our twenties where we think, oh,
I'm so old, I'm twenty five. I remember you having
a free kat when we turn twenty five. There's no
way I could find someone else and get into a

(19:10):
new relationship and have to go through all of this again.
I might just settle and stick around. Yeah, I think
you start to think you've invested too much time and
there's too much to lose. I was surprised to hear
that they only got engaged after eighteen months together, so
you can see why she would have been feeling that way.
Even with the profile that she has, it would have
probably felt embarrassing to call off the engagement. Yeah, and

(19:31):
I mean they intended to get married a lot earlier
than they did. COVID got in the way of that,
so their engagement was a number of years. But it
just seems like Olivia was just in way too deep,
particularly with all the wedding planning and posting about it
all on social media. I mean, she has spoken previously
about how there was so much pressure on her to
actually go through the wedding because there was so much

(19:51):
content out there about it. Well, there were so many
brand deals happening. I mean, even her proposal seemed to
be a branding opportunity because at the time she had
a deal with Exchange Diamonds, and her engagement ring ended
up being called the Olivia Molly Ring. Now, this is
an important point to bring up because on the Inherited podcast,
every guest is asked to bring in a relic to discuss,

(20:12):
and she ended up bringing in her grandmother's ring that
her mum, Nikki, had handed down to her on her
wedding day, and she said that her mum wore this
ring every day on her pinky finger, and a day
before the wedding, Olivia said she remembered admiring the ring
and wishing her engagement ring looked like it, And for me,
I was like, oh my god, So she didn't even

(20:34):
like the ring at the time, I was obsessed with
her engagement ring. I was so jealous of it. Yeah,
that surprised me as well. It's interesting that she made
those comments post breakup, like there's no way she could
have said she didn't like the ring before now. Olivia
said that when she received her grandmother's ring on her
wedding day, it was a very symbolic moment because her

(20:54):
mom was the only person who knew how scared she
was that day. And this was the most fascinating part
of the interview. We got a blow by blow of
the events that unfolded in the lead up to the wedding.
So Olivia's mum, Nicki, had flown over from Adelaide to
be there for the whole week and a few nights
before the wedding. Olivia says something happened that really crossed

(21:15):
boundaries for her and her mum was there when it happened.
When I heard that, my brain started racing, going through
all the different possible scenarios, and none of them were good.
To me, it sounded like she was hinting at cheating.
That's the interpretation I got from that. But you had
a different theory. Yeah, my brain went a bit darker. Actually,
seem that's not the case. Mine didn't actually go there.

(21:37):
I just thought potentially cheating. But anyway, the following day,
Nicki said to Olivia, look, we can call the wedding off.
You don't have to go ahead with it. And this
was on the Thursday, so it was two days out
from the wedding, and Olivia said that on that Thursday
she was set to pick up her wedding dress, and
she'd already started receiving messages from friends who had landed

(21:58):
in Melbourne from inter state, and she was also set
to drive to the accommodation with her bridesmaid, So she
was in such a predicament. Yeah, it's crazy to me
because Olivia said she didn't tell her bridesmaids or any
of her friends what had gone down a couple of
days earlier because she didn't want them to feel like
they had to fake it for the wedding, even though
she was having to. Yeah, and she said she spent

(22:19):
the night before in bed crying about it and trying
to work out what she possibly could say in her
vows because Justin had made all of these promises to her,
but she wasn't sure if he was actually going to
live up to those promises. I really wish that we
had the wedding vows from Idcinema. They were the videographers
who filmed this wedding. We only got the Olivia edit.

(22:40):
We didn't get the full edit because they got divorced
by them. But I would have been fascinated to know
what she had said in them. It would be so
hard to come up with something glowing about your partner
when you've just found out that they've done something terrible.
It really is mind blowing, because I remember when the
photos started coming out of Olivia's wedding and just being
absolutely blown away how stunning she looked, and how perfect

(23:03):
they looked together, and I was like, Oh, that just
looks like the most magical day. They had that fun
dance and she didn't look like she had a care
in the world to know what actually was going on
behind the scenes. Just shows how fake social media can
be and it's actually going on in people's life. I
just felt for Olivia and the predicament that she was in,
because imagine finding something out that's so unforgivable that your

(23:24):
partner's done only a couple of days beforehand. Because for her,
she said she wasn't worried about losing money from the wedding.
It was more the fact that her family and friends
had paid money to come over and all be there.
It would have been incredibly embarrassing as well to call
it off that close, and there would have been so
much speculation in the press as to why she had
done so. Yeah, I found it really interesting when she

(23:45):
spoke about having this hope that things would change once
they became husband and wife. How in her head suddenly
her being Justin's wife would make a difference, which she
said clearly it didn't because they ended up breaking up
after seven months. I love the fact that Olivia's mum
actually pulled justin aside before the wedding and told him
to pull his head in this, Nikki, sounds like a legend. See.

(24:06):
I don't know how her mum was able to actually
attend the wedding. I know if it was our mom,
she wouldn't be able to put on a happy face.
I mean, she probably didn't put on a happy face,
but she knew that her daughter needed her there for support.
Oh my gosh. I saw this thing recently on social
media where this bride found out that she had been
cheated on. I think it was like a couple of

(24:27):
days before the wedding and she was like, I can't
pull the pinus too close to the wedding, So she
went along with the whole day, got ready, had her
bridesmaids there, and then when it got to the ceremony
when she was reading out her vows, instead of reading
out vows, she read out the text messages that she
had found between her partner and this other woman Wow,

(24:48):
and exposed him in front of everyone. I was like, Wow,
that is incredible, But I don't think I could do that.
But it's pretty remarkable, is that. I mean, I think
that's money well spent, Like instead of wasting the money
on the wedding like that was epic. Now getting back
to Olivia, she said that she was depressed for the
whole seven months of this marriage and her body was

(25:09):
breaking down with the stress. I actually remember her documenting
her skin and her gut issues a lot during that time,
and it kind of seemed like it came out of nowhere,
which I mean, I remember when she opened up about
the fact that she was doing fertility treatments. I was like, Oh,
that must have been it, like her hormones must have
been going out of control. But it turns out Justin

(25:31):
was the problem, like he was causing her so much stress. Well,
she said that at the time, she convinced herself that
she was the problem, and she claimed that Justin would
reiterate that story to her. That made me mad when
I heard that, And she said it wasn't until the
end of that seven months that she started realizing, Hey,
I'm actually not the problem. He is the problem, and
I don't want to be in this relationship where I'm

(25:53):
begging someone to show up for me all the time.
I love. It got to the point where she's like, Okay,
I'm going to pull the trigger on this relationship and
call my sis, my sister, who is completely honest and
takes no bullshit. Well, also who won't let you reneg
on it as well. I feel like once you open
up and finally tell someone in your life, like your
sister or your friends, it becomes a lot more real

(26:14):
and then you become a lot more accountable to the situation. Yeah,
and it's so great to hear that she had so
much support from her friends and family that were like, Okay,
how are we going to do this? Let's get you
out of this situation. When she made this phone call
in two days time, she was supposed to have a
fertility procedure and her sister said to her, well, Olivia,
how would you feel if you found out you were
pregnant right now? And she said her first thought would

(26:36):
be terrified, and her sister said, well, that's your auntswer there.
So with that, she ended up calling her best friends
and her mum and they said, we'll support you. We
need a game plan of how you're going to get
out of this. I know Olivia has shared that story before,
closer to when she first broke up with Justin on
the Life on Cut podcast, And I think also on
Happy Out with Lucy and Nicki. But it was interesting

(26:57):
to hear that story retold with the context that we
now know that Justin McKean went on to have a
baby with Tarny Lison, and it's become very apparent that
Tarni and Justin are no longer together. And every time
I see Tarny post ah, my heart breaks for her
because she's clearly doing everything for that child. And I
think the reason that Olivia feels comfortable to open up

(27:19):
about all of this now is one because there's been
a bit of time and space, but two because I
think the public is now more aware of what she
was going through. As we have touched on many times
on this podcast. Justin McKean recently has been accused of
stealing half a million dollars from his former employer, so
I think that she probably feels like people know what
she's putting down now when she speaks about him. I

(27:40):
feel like Olivia must be so grateful that all of
that information has come out and it's sort of validated
parts of her story that she has bravely shared thus far.
I'm just still really confused as to why she didn't
decide to open up about this on her own podcast.
Is clear that she's very passionate about the show and
growing it, and this would have been the perfect episode
to do so. Because so many media publications have picked

(28:03):
up on this story and they keep referencing the fact
that it was on the Inherited podcast. I wonder if
it's a case of she didn't really plan to be
so open and she just got really comfortable. I mean,
at the start of the episode she spoke about being
an oversharer and being a little bit nervous to do
the interview, even though she conducts interviews on her own podcast.
Maybe she felt that being interviewed was a more appropriate

(28:24):
way to open up about it rather than doing a
monologue on her podcast. Well, I suppose if it had
come out on her podcast, she could have been accused
of trying to monetize a traumatic event in her life.
It just made me like Olivia even more. I've always
been a big fan of Olivia Rogers, and I think
that she has incredible bravery going through something like this
and deciding to leave. And also, I mean we touched

(28:46):
on it a little bit earlier, but her talking through
the court case when she was sexually assaulted at a
Melbourne pub and interestingly, she was there celebrating Zara McDonald's
birthday and actually reminded me of when Taylor Swift sued
that guy that groped her a meet and greet for
a dollar. Yeah, and Olivia was saying, Oh, people were like, oh,
he only pinched you on the bottom. I'm like, thank
goodness that she took a stance and actually took this

(29:08):
dickhead to court because he ended up having a history
of this type of behavior. And I'm just so happy
for her that she is in this fantastic relationship with Hugo,
who we have spoken about on the podcast. She was
asked whether she would want to get married again one day,
and she said that she would like to. I'm here
for the wedding content and she said though that she's

(29:31):
realized that marriage isn't everything, but for her, she knows
she doesn't want to take that away from Hugo. It's
something that he would like to do. Look, I know
that we usually do our predictions at the end of
this year, but one of mine will be that she
gets engaged. Maybe that's why she's throwing out hints about
the engagement ring. Maybe she's thinking, look, okay, Hugo, I
like the look and style of my grandmother's ring now

(29:53):
and we replicate this very clever. He's very very clever. Well,
I think that is all we have time for today.
