Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello, and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
I'm Sophie Torber and coming up on.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Today's show, Adele Petropolis dramatically calls off her wedding Tammy
Hembrose psychologists urge her not to marry, Matt Zakowski, Anna
Macavoy's torturous travel day, and Steph Claire Smith's postpartum rage.
But first, Lily Brown and Jack Kenny are officially engaged.
The former Gladiator popped the question during their holiday in
(00:34):
Europe after almost three years together. Okay, I had to
do a double take when I saw this. I was like,
is it actually true this time? Because there's been so
many engagement rumors. There's also been pregnancy rumors which were
sparked by Jet Kenny and some weird post of Lily
as an animated egg.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
That was bizarred.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Well, this is actually true. It's coming from Lily. She
broke the news on her Instagram by sharing a Lady
and the Tramp style video of her and Jet eating
this piece of past and kissing, and in it, Lily
grabs his face to show off this massive engagement ring.
You can't see it that well. It looks like it's
a rectangular diamond, which is refreshing because I feel like
all we've seen lately is oval diamonds.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
There's the thing wrong with those. I have an over good.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
They are stunning. Now she captured the post that's amore
and did a ton of emojis. They were crying faces,
love hearts, rings, Italian flag, so.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
They did get engaged in Italy.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
It appears, will you say appears because we actually haven't
seen the post out sales because Lily Brown blocked our
accounts on Instagram after that smelly pajama incident.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
I felt so desperate because someone posted it in the
group and I had to be like, can anyone share
some more details? Send mere screenshot? I don't know what's happening. Yeah,
well us where I saw the news first, and I
actually didn't know who the people were because it was
a screenshot of the video and I couldn't see the handle. Yeah,
a lot of people in our Facebook community were also confused.
They were saying, I'm so happy for this couple. This
is lovely news. But all I'm seeing is bold at
(01:54):
the moment because Jack Kenny is rocking a bald head.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Who are these people?
Speaker 1 (01:58):
But once people knew who it was, there has been
a lot of excitement about this engagement. Lily's post has
been absolutely flooded with positive messages, and she took to
her Instagram story to thank her followers. So she said,
thank you all so much for the comments, texts, etc.
We're so overwhelmed with the love. We are very much
in the bubble right now, such a well wind of
a week. Genuinely have been waking up every day since
(02:19):
it happened thinking it was a dream. Can't wait to
share more soon, but for now soaking it all up.
I wonder if Jet's father, now that they're engaged, will
want them out of the house because they are currently
living with him at the moment.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Well it makes sense.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
I mean, Jet had to save up for this beautiful
engagement ring and a trip to Europe.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
My band's flew on a flight with all the boys
to go to Vegas today for bucks. Enjoying yourselves, boys,
have the best time in the universe. You enjoy Okay,
do you know what this man left me with? A
single fucking egg.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Adele Petropolis has shocked her followers by announcing she's canceling
her wedding just three months out from the big day.
In a bit to turn a negative into a positive,
the TikToker is doing a massive wedding giveaway for her followers.
Before you get into the drama, cap firstly, who is Adele.
I wasn't actually familiar with Adele before this news broke,
but I am now a massive fan of her. I
(03:18):
was just scrolling her content and laughing so much. I
got so deep into her profile.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
So she is a thirty year.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Old influencer with one hundred and fifty eight thousand followers
on TikTok and forty thousand on Instagram. She is a
makeup artist and pilates instructor and films a lot of
cooking with Me videos.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
She's just so funny.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
I love her takes on things and she speaks a
lot about her Greek heritage. Now, she was engaged to Anthony.
She calls him Antha on her profile, and they had
been dating since twenty twenty, so they actually met on
a dating app and six weeks into their relationship had
to decide whether they were going to go into lockdown
with each other. And she's pretty big in the influencer space.
(03:59):
She is currently the of a Maybolene ad. I wasn't
familiar with her content before she called off her wedding either,
and now I just can't get enough of it. I'm like,
this is so engaging and enthralling. Yeah, it keeps popping
up in my algorithm now, which I'm very thankful for. Now,
to give this story more context, I want to take
you back a couple of months. So in July, Adele's fiance, Anthony,
(04:20):
went on a week long trip to Vegas with his
mates for a Bucks party. Now, if it wasn't bad
enough that Adele's fiance was on a boy's trip to Vegas,
to add insult to injury, while he was gone, the
ceiling in their bedroom of their apartments started leaking, so
poor Adele was forced to deal with the cleanup and
sleep in her makeup room while it was all being fixed.
Of course, it was fixed just in time for Anthony
(04:42):
to get home. Can you imagine the text messages going
back and forward on this trip.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
I would not be pleased.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
She actually shared one of the videos that she sent
him that I had these big industrial fans and now
trying to clear it all up. Now, before Anthony's flight home,
he told Adele that he had a present for her,
which he bought on the las last day of the trip. Now,
Adele shared the news to her TikTok followers, saying, this.
Speaker 6 (05:06):
My fiance is in the doghouse. He is in the
wolf wolf house. I gotta be quick because I've got
to run in and go to go teach my classes. Okay,
how I know he's in the doghouse. I don't know
why he's in the doghouse yet. Okay, boys are coming
back from a week long trip in Vegas. Okay, Vegas. Yeah,
God knows what happened in Vegas. What happens to Vegas?
Stays a man as shot fu. Huh hello a love,
(05:28):
come back home?
Speaker 3 (05:29):
No support?
Speaker 6 (05:30):
Huh club swaata right here. I'm gonna hosee him down
in bleach before he comes home. He did buy me
in present though, all right. My theory is the bougie
of the present. What has he done to be sorry for?
Speaker 5 (05:45):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (05:45):
So she did pick up on a vibe that something
was going down on this trip. What did he bring
back for her? Well, it wasn't looking good because she
unpacked on camera. A designer handbag, and she looked pretty
shocked when she opened the parcel, and she goes, I'm
sorry for ripping into you. So you could tell that
they'd been fighting, and Anthony said it was also for
her upcoming thirtieth and joked for Christmas and New Year's too,
(06:08):
because it's bag retails for around five thousand dollars. Well,
followers began speculating that he must have done something bad
in Vegas off the back of Adele's original video about
him being in the doghouse. So this gift seemed to
spark a lot of conversation. Yeah, I mean, I think
it was all a lit little bit of tongue in
cheek because Adele had said, oh my god, what must
he have done?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
And that's her sense of humor.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
I actually had a colleague, maybe I shouldn't say claim,
an ex colleague, who told me that her ex boyfriend
bought her a designer bag the day before he married
someone else, almost as a bit of a sorry present.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
What do you mean, so he sent it to her? Oh,
he arrived at her.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Doorstep with a designer bag literally the day before he
got married.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
So did she know he was getting married?
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Yeah? She did.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Oh, my god, is that sort of a bit of
a shut up present?
Speaker 7 (06:54):
Like?
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Was there stuff going on before the wedding?
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Or Look, I don't know all of the ins and outs,
but I feel like there must have been something going
on the sea so at that So should we all
be pleased that our partners have never bought us a
designer hand? Like?
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Is that a sign of guilt?
Speaker 7 (07:06):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Now?
Speaker 1 (07:08):
In August, the couple traveled to Europe for a friend's wedding,
and Adele shared a lot of travel vlogs throughout the trip,
and on the third of September, while they were in Athens,
she unexpectedly shared this written statement saying that she would
be stepping back from social media for a little bit
to focus on some personal matters, and she said she
would be back online and share more when she was
(07:30):
ready now. The day before, she had posted, as usual
she was in Athens with Anthony. She ended up taking
a hiatus for a couple of weeks, but then jumped
back online to share a video of her in bed
with texts that read PTSD loading and a caption that
said offline for a reason. We now know what that
reason was. So last week, Adele announced that she was
(07:52):
canceling her wedding just three months out from the big day.
Let's throw to some of what she said.
Speaker 8 (07:58):
Do you know what I didn't have on mid a
Bingo card for this year? Where I didn't have on
my Bingo card for this year, for this fucking year,
canceling my fucking wedding. Canceling my fucking wedding.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Yeah, I was so sorry for her.
Speaker 9 (08:13):
I know.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
It turns out she left Anthony in Athens and flew
home by herself. She said it's the hardest thing she's
ever gone through, but she wasn't going to be that
bit who cries on camera for sympathy and pity.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
She admitted that her.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Heart was racing during the video and that she felt sick,
but she said she always shows her authentic self online,
so it would be no different. Now it'd be so
difficult because by announcing it online it almost makes it
more real. Well, she had to because he was a
permanent fixture on her TikTok. Now, she hasn't gone into
the details about what actually caused the breakup, but she
(08:47):
said this.
Speaker 8 (08:49):
On a very fucking surface level, very fucking service level.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Something happened or has happened.
Speaker 8 (08:55):
Yeah, that's all I'm going to say about that. That
didn't allow with my principles, didn't align with my values
as a human being on this fucking earth that has
made a lifelong commitment to someone and I have decided
to walk away.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
As soon as someone says I'm not going to explain
the full story, but then they touch on the fact
that what the person did did in align with their principles,
you automatically assume it must.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Be infidelity that's caused a breakup.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Yeah, I think it's important to point out we don't
actually know, and there are a lot of rumors swirling around.
I mean, at the time of recording, that breakup announcement
has amassed over two point seven million views, and I
think a big part of the reason why it has
gone so viral it has to do with Blue Eyed
Kayler jade So for those not familiar with Kayler, she
is a popular TikToker who shares her life as a
(09:50):
sex worker, and two days before Adele put her video out,
Kayler put out a video talking about how this guy
called Anthony messaged her saying he's currently in Europe for
his bucks and would show her around if she was interested,
and this has led a lot of people to speculate
that perhaps it is Adele's anthony and that has caused
(10:12):
a breakup. Again, this is all just speculation. We have
no idea whether that is true, but that search has
been trending on TikTok.
Speaker 7 (10:20):
Now.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I feel so sorry for her.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
This must be absolutely horrendous to go through, particularly so publicly.
She has also lost out on a lot of money
for her wedding. Fortunately, her wedding vendors have been incredible,
but there's a lot that she's still out of pocket for. Yeah,
and her next move has really shocked me. So she
has been gracious enough to say, Okay, I'm going to
do a massive giveaway to my followers, So any brides
(10:44):
who are doing it tough, I'm going to be giving
like my wedding shoes away, my wedding bands, even her florals,
like anything that she's put a deposit down for she's
going to pass on to her followers.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
This is what she said.
Speaker 8 (10:56):
I wasn't able to have mine because in reality, it
wasn't my dream day because it wasn't with the person
that I thought I was getting married to. But if
I can help anybody have the best day of their
life and even help them snidget to create theirs. I'm
going to.
Speaker 7 (11:13):
Fucking do that now.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
This is obviously incredibly generous of Adele, but the skeptic
in me was wondering. Is a part of it also
to fulfill partnership obligations, because back in July, Adele shared
her wedding bands part of a paid partnership with Culen Jewelry,
and it was really awkward because Anthony was in the
video and she was so excited to unbox them and
she said she wasn't going to try the ring on
(11:35):
her left hand because she thought it was bad luck.
Now Adele is giving away her wedding band as a
part of this giveaway.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
What do you think about that?
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Well, that's pretty clever. I mean, I don't think it's
the outcome that the jeweler would have wanted anyway, because
I mean, there's a bit of bad judo on this ring,
isn't there? But it's a creative way to get more
eyeballs on your brand. I mean it'd be incredibly awkward
You've made all of these deals for your wedding and
you're like okay, on the big day. I'm going to
show off you know this and that, and you'll get
(12:04):
your coverage there well, particularly when it's a custom item
like rings. Yeah, I think it's incredibly clever, and I
think that you know cul and jewelry are getting way
more exposure for this because it's like, Wow, this is
this dramatic breakup. Like I don't know if as many
people would have cared if she actually went through with
the wedding.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
What wedding band she had.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Well, I also think it's good that she's actually giving
the items away for free instead of selling them. I mean,
Tammy seemed to get a lot of stick when she's
so old well announced that she was selling her wedding dresses,
particularly because there was a sponsorship agreement there. I just
think it's ingenious, it's creating engagement, it's doing something positive
for brides who may be struggling to pay for their
(12:42):
own weddings, who are doing it tough. All I can
say is thank god all of this has happened before
the wedding. It would absolutely be worse to go ahead
with the wedding and have that heartbreak and embarrassment afterwards.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
So I just posted like a life update. But when
I got on my page, it's like my video.
Speaker 5 (12:58):
Videos, it's like getting I'm marrying, but it's like honeymoon.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
No, it's like engaged.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Tammy Henbury has hinted that her therapist warned her not
to marry Matt Zakowski. The og Australian influencer made the
revelation in her latest YouTube video, where she dropped more
juicy details about her breakup cap I was so excited
when this video dropped because it's the first time Tammy's
posted fresh content on YouTube since the breakup. It was
(13:28):
also aptly titled I Got a divorce, so I was like,
oh my god, what is she going to say. It
was quite funny because on TikTok, Tammy prefers that when
she logged into her YouTube she got a bit of
a jump scare because the previous videos were literally I'm engaged,
I'm getting married, and here's my honeymoon, and she's like,
oh fuck, this is so awkward uploading her I'm divorced.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Yeah, that reminds me. I want to go back and
watch those just with a fresh set of eyes now.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
It was really interesting because it's the first time Tammy
has spoken about how she's dealing with this influx of
media attention since announcing her divorce, and she said, and
it's been really frustrating and making her not want to
post any content because every time she does, it gets
turned into a headline or clickbait. But I was like, oh,
come on, Tammy, like a lot of them, she's done purposely.
I caught a bit of bullshit when I heard that one,
(14:12):
because Tammy has been in this industry for a while,
she knows what she's doing. She's constantly posting tiktoks to
insinuate things and to generate attention and media headlines, because
ultimately it's good for business.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
I think though it's now affecting her personal life in
terms of her dating Bailey Smith, though, And I think
that's why she's suddenly wanting to put the brakes on it,
because there's been a lot of speculation that she isn't
attending the Brownlow. Now. Of course, we are recording this
on Monday afternoon. The Brownlow is tonight, But in the
days leading up to the Brownlow, the media have done
(14:45):
this complete backflip and said, oh, she's not coming. Bailey
is focusing on football because Geelong and now in the
Grand Final. Apparently he's taking one of his mates to
the event. He's probably been told not to bring her
because it would be such a media circus and not
a good look for Geelong when they are supposed to
be focusing on the weak ahead. So I think she's
a bit annoyed that she can't go to the Brownlow
(15:05):
because of all the media speculation. I mean, she's been
doing all of those appointments at her sister's skin clinic.
I think she probably had a dress ready to go.
You'd be pretty pissed off if you were a designer
who had gifted Tammy address thinking she was going to
the Brownlow and then suddenly it seems to be off.
I am very mindful that this podcast is coming out
after the Brownlow and we might have a bit of
(15:25):
egg on our face. Maybe she may make an appearance.
But I'm starting to lose hope because she's been posting
that she's on a holiday with her kids. They're on
school holidays. I don't know where they are, but it
looks tropical. Yeah, I'm not really holding out hope that
we're going to be seeing her on the Brownlow tonight. Well,
in another blow, it seems like Tammy is back to
taking the moral high ground because in her recent YouTube
(15:46):
she said that she doesn't want to talk about other
people or give certain people her energy aka Matt Sakawsa.
But she's saying that whilst releasing a YouTube video of
it with the clickbait title I'm getting a divorce, So
I don't know how much of a high ground that is.
Speaker 10 (16:00):
Well.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
One thing that she wanted everyone to know is that
the divorce announcement didn't signify the end of the marriage.
So according to Tammy, her relationship with Matt ended long before,
so it's clear she's very keen to clear that up
because she doesn't want people to think that she's just
moved on so quickly with Bailey Smith or. She also
hinted in a TikTok video this week that it ended
in February because she filmed herself miming to the lyrics
(16:23):
I'm feeling better. I made it to September. I can
finally breathe, and she captured that video feb me would
be very happy right now, and she also referenced the
start of the year being difficult for her in her YouTube.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
This is what she said, like the.
Speaker 7 (16:37):
Start of this year, I don't think you guys understand
like I was in that such a place and she
just like, it was so miserable. Something's happened to you
and they shake you, but so badly that you just
don't even know yourself trust judgment, you know, trusting good
(17:00):
And I started getting so anxious. There were times where
I literally could not leave the house.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
So does this mean that the marriage only lasted three months? Then?
I think so, And it seems likely that that big
blow up but the Australian Open was the end of
it all. Wow, I wonder if you can get annulled
after just three months.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
You can't know, oh I can. I think.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
The most interesting part of this video for me was
when Tammy talked about going to therapy. So it's not
the first time she's spoken about therapy. When she announced
her divorce back in July, she mentioned that she had
been talking to a therapist.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
It also comes.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Off the back of Matt speaking a lot on his
podcast about how he's in therapy and focusing on his
mental health. It's like she's trying to reclaim a bit
of that and say, well, my mental health suffered during
this relationship as well. Yeah, but it turns out her
first therapy session was actually before her wedding.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Let's take a listen to what she said.
Speaker 5 (17:53):
My first therapy session was actually before we got married,
and then I didn't like what I heard in that,
so I didn't go back. And then obviously I think
he happened, and then they went back and I was like,
you know, I should listen kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
But hindsights from you twenty it would be really hard
to return to that therapist because they'd probably be a
bit like, well I told you though. Yeah, but at
least she didn't have to go into the backstory all
again for a new therapist, Like, I don't think they're
going to be really judgy about it. I wonder if
this is the same therapist that they started seeing after
the Grand Prix cheating scandal, because in that infamous podcast
(18:31):
episode Matt Sakowski released explaining himself after he was caught
out texting this other woman, he said that he and
Tammy were going to.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
A couple's counselor. This was before the wedding. So hmmm, well,
I feel like.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Matt is getting a lot of good press at the moment,
people seem to be liking him a bit more. That
seems to be the general tone. And I found it
really interesting because in this YouTube video, I feel like
Tammy wanted to remind people about those past cheating rumors
because she spoke a lot about loyalty, and she began
by saying how her marriage breakdown made her realize even
more that loyalty is a non negotiable for her.
Speaker 7 (19:06):
She then said this, but I didn't realize just how
massive that was to me, And not just in the
sense of like being faithful, but in a sense of.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
Just like having the other person's back kind of thing,
like you put them before friend's family, like like you know,
not just in like a relationship, but in like other
relationships as well. Like I've had some things happen it's
so hard to talk about when I can't like actually
talk about it.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
I've had some things happen in.
Speaker 7 (19:37):
Other relationships with people in my life that have like
I felt like so betrayed, like to my core.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Now, to me, it seems like she's not only making
a potshot at Matt Sakowski, but also other people in
her life. And I was wondering, could this be over
her ex fiance Matt Paul and his new girlfriend Annalise
liking Olema Amiga's parody about her crime. I don't know
if she'd actually take a swipe at Matt Paul like this.
They seem to have a pretty good co parenting relationship.
(20:07):
But then he went and publicly liked this derogatory video
about her. So I think she's well within her riots
to say. I know some people have disappointed me and
not been loyal, because it was quite disloyal.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Now we're coming to you.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
From the future precisely about an hour after recording our
Tammy Hembrow segment, because news has just dropped the Bailey
Smith is definitely not taking Tammy Hembro to the Brownlow.
He revealed that during an interview on The Kyle and
Jackie Oshow, he also completely dissed her by saying they're
just mates. Let's throw to some of what he said.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
Tonight or no, no, I'm not No, I didn't want
to bore her with Footy all night.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
So yeah, she's not a big Footy fan and no,
we're just mates. So nah, you guys aren't like schools
of all. My boyfriend girlf mad just mate.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Didn't he sound so young?
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I would be so pissed off if I was Tammy
Henbury listening to this, Like it's a complete slap in
the face. It's like, why did you hard launch your
relationship on your Instagram or soft launch? Really?
Speaker 2 (21:14):
I think it was a hard launch.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
The fact that he shared her story on his Instagram
account and they were out on a date.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Do you reckon maybe.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
They are just friends and they've been trying to make
Matt Szakowski.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Jealous making out.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
No, but do you reckon that it's all for a
bit of fun, Like because I've heard before in the
past that they did know each other before this incident,
and maybe Tammy, being the pr mastermind that she seems
to be, maybe thought, look, this is going to generate
some attention. It's going to get my name out there.
It looks like I've moved on from this relationship and
this divorce. No, I don't think so. I think that,
(21:46):
you know, Hammy said it herself on a YouTube. She
is a lover, She loves love, and you know, she
gets into things really quickly. I think she would be
hurt by this. It was clearly a rebound though it
was a bit of fun. But still I think that
when you have a rebound so close to, like a big,
major relationship breakdown, there's sometimes more difficult to deal with.
There's a whole tripe of you know you, It's harder
(22:06):
to get over a situationship than a full term relationship.
Taylor Swift made that pretty clear with all her whole
album poets about Matt Healy. Yeah, and I mean clearly
Tummy was invited originally to the Brownlow, Like you know,
she was getting a skin ready for it. I'm wondering though,
because she uploaded this TikTok a couple of days ago
and she was miming to FANTASYE by Mariah Carey when
(22:27):
she got what she called a wild notification. She wrote,
point of view, you get a wild notification mid Mariah solo.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
I wonder maybe if it was a text to say
you're invited to the Brownlow dump. Do you also think
that maybe Tinder have something to do with this.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
I'm assuming that they paid Bailey Smith a lot of
money to be the face of their new campaign, and
they've said, hey, look, could you call things down a
bit at least.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Pretend that you're single and seeing people.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
No This is definitely coming from Geelong Football Club and
maybe we shouldn't read into it too much because do
you think also he's just a typical footballer and he's
done a bit of a root and boot.
Speaker 7 (22:58):
No.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
I think it's all about destruction leading into, you know,
the most important game in his.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Career, the Grand Final. He doesn't want your long fans
blaming Tammy Hembro.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
He wants to make it clear she's not going to
be at the Brownlow, she's not hanging around me, She's
not going to be at the Grand Final. And then maybe,
you know, once the Grand Finals over, we might see
them rekindle things. If anything, from watching the prelim on
the weekend, he's taken any stride and Tammy's been good
for him because he played so well. He was getting
booed by the crowd. I think that was to do
with him giving the bird to that photographer. But you know,
(23:30):
if anything, he's been in great form. I personally think
that they're going to rekindle things more publicly once the
footy season is over and they've just been told to
publicly cool it down. The mainstream media are so confused
with what's going on because they were reporting that Tammy
posted about having a crash out and it must have
been about Bailey Smith.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
That was about Matsakowski. Okay, so I was.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
Getting confused, and let's keep up. If they do need
some expert opinions on these matters, they can contact Yeah,
Pooty Classified if you need us for comments, we're here.
Speaker 9 (24:00):
I'm so excited about Hawaii.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Anna macavoy has opened up about the reality of traveling
with a baby. The former Love islander and her husband
Michael Staples are currently holidaying in Hawaii with their three
month old son Swede. I remember even before Swayede was
born that Anna was really adamant that having a baby
wasn't going to stop her travel.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Plans at all.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
I remember hearing that on her podcast while driving and
scoffing and like, yeah, right, you are not going anywhere.
But she has really proven us wrong. She's been off
to Hawaii.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Well, that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
She does share a lot on her Instagram about holiday content.
I mean, I wouldn't call her a travel blogger, but
the most notable holiday that she shared about was her
wedding in Greece, and they often traveled to Thailand and
Bali They recently went to Palm Cove for their baby moon,
so it's quite clear that before they had Swayed, they said,
we love traveling. We're going to continue doing it even
(24:51):
when we have him. And they had a little bit
of a rehearsal leading into the overseas trip.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
So they did a.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Stay ca in the city for Michael's birthday and things
did not run to plan. On the way to the hotel,
Swayed did a pool explosion in the car. They also
forgot his sleep suit any parents worst nightmare? Really, Well,
Michael had to make this mad dash to came out
to go and get a cheapo version of his sleep suit,
and he could only find a larger size, so they
(25:15):
had to get the little sewing kit in the room
to make it smaller.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
I mean, I probably would have just packed up and
gone home.
Speaker 9 (25:20):
Right by that.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
You're not enjoying it, are you.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
It's pretty brave. They went on to book the overseas trip.
If that had been me, I would have been shaken
by the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
And we're not doing it for a couple of years.
Speaker 10 (25:29):
Well.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Also, despite the.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Setback, Anna ended up sharing this video of her and
Swayed looking out the hotel window and she captioned it,
you're a minder that travel doesn't need to end when
you have a baby. So there's a lot of mixed
messaging going on, like, you know, on an Instagram story,
oh it's hell, but then on the Instagram feed it's like, oh,
it's so magical taking your baby on a holiday. Swayede
is literally only a couple of weeks older than Luca,
(25:51):
and I just couldn't even comprehend taking him on an
international holiday. But in saying that, I really admire the
parents who just say, fuck it, we're doing it. I
personally don't have, but in me, it just seems like
such a hassle. And also it seems like a lot
of money to spend on a holiday that might not
go to plan. And hmm, I mean a lot of
people say to do it before the age of six months,
which makes sense to me because you're not feeding your
(26:12):
baby solids and they're also not moving may But then again,
you're dealing with sleep progressions, you're dealing with having too,
you know, constant feeding of milk, breast milk.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
It's just being unknown, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, And leading into the trip, you could tell that
Anna was starting to feel a bit apprehensive. On her
podcast Where's Your Head At, she told her co host
Matt Zakowski that Swede has suddenly awoken from his newborn
slumber and had a very big personality. Let's have a
listen to some of what she said.
Speaker 9 (26:43):
But anyway, Yeah, I'm so excited about Hawaii, little bit
nervous about the flight with Swede. I'm not even gonna lie.
It's a ten hour direct flight. That's okay.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
He'll be fine.
Speaker 9 (26:54):
It's okay. But as I've said in previous episodes of
this podcast, he has awoken from his newborn sleep like
he is wide awake. He lets you know if he's
not happy. So yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Just put his dummy in for when they're landing.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
In that for the ears.
Speaker 9 (27:09):
I think you breastfeed them on the way up and
down to stop them because they may though.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
I think so the seat belts in that.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 9 (27:17):
That's what people have told me to do, so I'm
gonna If he's screaming, I'm obviously going to feed it.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Matzakowski was like, oh, ten hours, that'll be no problem.
I gassed when I heard ten hours, like ten hours.
The thing is he said it with such conviction, yeah,
which it made me laugh because I'm like, oh, he's
got no idea what he's talking about. I mean, he
was a stepdad to Tammy Hembro's kids for a couple
of months. Posey was two or three at the time.
I mean, you can't really compare that to a three
month old baby.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
Can You.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
Did make me laugh because he's like, oh, just put
his dummy in when the flight takes off, as if
that would solve all of the problems.
Speaker 7 (27:50):
Now.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Unfortunately for Anna and Michael, the flight was no walk
in the park. While Anna said that there weren't too
many meltdowns on board, there also wasn't much sleep, so
when they finally did get swayed to sleep in the
plane bassinet, there happened to be turbulence and they had
to quickly take him back out. She also said he
didn't love the basinet because it was all inclosed. Now overall,
(28:12):
apparently he only got about one and a half hour's
sleep on the ten hour flight, whilst they got about
an hour. So she said they were absolutely exhausted and
everyone around them was probably exhausted. Yeah, and I mean
once they were in Hawaii, it seemed like that travel
day and also the time zones really had a huge
effect on Swede because Anna ended up sharing a video
(28:33):
of Michael literally looking like he was at his wits
end and he was trying to calm Swayed down.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
I felt so sorry for him.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
He looked like a broken man, and she captioned it,
yesterday was the hardest day of parenting we've ever had.
Swayede was fighting his sleep like never before and was
inconsolably crying, which was heartbreaking. I'd love to tell you
the number of shushes. On a more positive note, he
has woken up super happy today. I was really relieved
to hear that he had a better day the next day.
(29:01):
The shushing thing cracked me up because I have this
Nannet sound machine and it's so good that it actually
makes a shushing sound for you so you don't have
to exhaust yourself. No, it's like, sh it's so funny.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
I remember falling asleep to that.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
I think it was week two and three of bringing
Luca home, and I woke up.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
I'm like, what is that annoying? That's quite annoying.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
I have really been enjoying checking in on this holiday
and seeing the little updates now and then, because to
Anna's credit, she has been sharing the ups and the downs,
and there's been some really heartwarming moments within it that.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
You're like, oh, maybe I will take my baby on holiday.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Well, it's clear she knows the videos that are also
going to do well on TikTok because she shared a
video of her and Michael showing Swede fireworks at the
resort for the first time, and she captioned it, what
if it all works better than you could have imagined.
And she did another sort of viral video where Swayede
was in the ocean with them and it said, your
mum and dad didn't stop traveling, so now you're three
(29:57):
months old and floating over waves in Hawaii. And it's
quite clear that she's trying to encourage other parents to
get out there and see the world. But I wonder,
if you're being a bit earnest, do you think it's
just because that content does really well on TikTok oh one,
because there's almost an element of rage baiting to it,
because you know the discussions that are being had in
the comments.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
People are going to be.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Like, I would never take my kids on holdos and
oh my god, I love taking my kids on holidays,
and then there would be guides in the comments like yeah,
I think there's a little bit of rage baiting going on.
And also it seems like Anna's not really sure which
path she's going down on parenting. Is she being really
raw and sharing the truth or does she want to
be one of those Instagram moms who only shows the polish.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
Version of mother.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Well, I suppose maybe she knows that there's ups and
downs and why not share both of them. I also
think that a lot of that more aspirational content is
happening on her TikTok account, because it's really on her
Instagram stories where she's sharing the reality. Because after that
post did quite well of the fireworks, she uploaded an
Instagram story where she said that it all looks great,
(31:01):
but in reality, Michael and I have to eat every
meal alone while the other person soothes swayed. She also
said that she's only been able to venture into the
adult pool area once and basically her and Michael did
this trade off where if he went.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
For a run, she got to go on the pool.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
And she also kept it real by showing that they
went out on this day excursion to Hawaii and basically
she was wearing this beautiful white skirt and swayed did
this huge.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Poo explosion on it.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
I feel like she's almost got her social media platforms
mixed up, because if I was her, I would be
sharing the reality on TikTok and more of the aspirational
stuff on her Instagram feed, Like people love that stuff
on TikTok, But maybe she feels more comfortable on Instagram
because on Instagram, it's probably people who have followed her
since she was on Love Island and actually know her,
whereas TikTok is so random. Yeah, I mean there's a
(31:46):
lot of mum shaming and trolling on TikTok. Well, at
least it sounds like they've had a bit of a
couple time because Anna shared a screenshot of some flirty
text messages that she and her husband sent in this
photo dump, and it made me laugh because she was
calling him a hot dad and he replied calling.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Her a Megan milf. I hope that she shared that, like, oh,
it's like a little bit of a humble brag.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
Oh Mike, I was like, oh, I don't know you
were sharing this in the commentation.
Speaker 10 (32:13):
Yeah, it's kind of come to a point now where
I'm really feeling pretty shitty every day with how I'm
coping with things, and.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
Yeah, just needing a bit of extra help.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
Steph less Smith has opened up about her daily struggles
with ADHD since having her daughter, Billy. The Key co
founder said she's been experiencing emotional breakdowns and intense bouts
of rage. So if this feeling of overwhelm has led
Steph to seek some help, yeah, this really was a
very raw and honest look behind the curtain at how
Steph Klesmith's postpartum experience has gone so far. So she
(32:51):
had her daughter Billy only a few weeks before I
had Lucas, so I feel like I've had this weird
parasocial relationship with her pregnancy and also so her newborn journey.
And I just find it so fascinating to see what
an influencer's life looks like now that they're a new mum.
I just compare what I am going through, and if anything,
(33:12):
I felt like it looked like Steph had been flourishing
on her socials because Billy seemed to be a much
better sleeper than her son Harvey, and she'd been posting
all of these beautiful nap trapped moments and she seemed
to really be embracing at this time around, so I
was really surprised to hear that behind the scenes, she's
been struggling with these emotional breakdowns. It's really interesting being
(33:33):
a mum now. So I've got a fifteen month old
and you know, the newborn phase doesn't seem that long ago,
and you know, I've watched now you and Amy go
through it, and I do find it fascinating seeing how
other mums portray it on social media, and I've learned
that everyone does it so differently. But sometimes I'm like,
hang on, why is your baby not napping or you know,
why are you doing this? And I've got to remind
(33:53):
myself what everyone does everything differently. And with Steph being
a second time mom, I was like, I'm really interested
to see what that is, like how they're dealing with it.
And I think she's been pretty open throughout it all,
but she hasn't touched upon the rage until now, and
I found that so refreshing because we all go through it,
even if you don't have ADHD see I found that
(34:14):
having my own postpartum experience has really changed me because
now whenever I hear that another mum is doing it tough,
it absolutely breaks my heart because I found the first
couple of months, while I'm only three months in, but
I found it so challenging, and really the first couple
of weeks I felt really down. So it breaks my
heart to see anyone experiencing these emotional breakdowns and also
(34:36):
this rage that she's been talking about, and particularly also
trying to navigate that with a pretty fresh ADHD diagnosis,
because Steph got that diagnosis when she was pregnant and
she wasn't at the time able to go on medication
for it.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
So she announced on the.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
Kickpod that that is something that she's looking to trial. Yeah,
and she actually released her own mini series on her
podcast about navigating eighty and she said that it was
because of that transparency early on that she wanted to
continue opening up about it, particularly during this postpartum time.
And she told her co host Laura Henshaw that she
isn't managing well, let's have a listen to some of
(35:13):
what she said.
Speaker 10 (35:15):
And the unfortunate thing is outside of myself, you know,
my kids and Josh are the ones that are also
having to copy it. Really, and what I mean by
that is the overwhelm is sending me into immense amount
of rage and emotional breakdowns.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
And basically I look.
Speaker 10 (35:36):
Like Harvey, like I'm having full toddler tantrums and meltdowns
if she's like not going my way or things haven't
happened how I thought they would.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
I just really appreciate her being so honest about this
because I think it will really help other mums going
through a similar experience. And as you said, Kay, I
think whether you have ADHD or not, it is so
common for women during this postpartum time to feel completely
overwhelmed and also experienced this sense of rage and resentment.
And it's clear for Steph that this is obviously exacerbated
(36:06):
by her ADHD. Yeah, I think it's really good that
Steph has provided that behind the scenes look, because she
does post a lot of beautiful photos of her with
her children, and you know, she's returned to work very
early on, She's been back at events, you know, a
couple of weeks after giving birth. Well it looks like
she's thriving really, Yeah, and it would be easy for
other mums to look at that and be like, oh
(36:27):
my god, why isn't she struggling like I am, Like
she has it so easy, And I was like, well,
that's actually not the reality. I mean, you don't really
want to pick up your camera when you're having a
massive argument with your husband and document it to the world. Well,
it's also that challenge of her going from one to two.
And she said that her son Harvey, has been having
meltdowns and that she and her husband Josh are at
a point where they've run out of patience.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Let's have a listen to more of what she said
about that.
Speaker 10 (36:50):
And we are really struggling with Harvey at the moment.
He is just having really really big emotions. He's almost
pre emptying before we even say no to things, things
that we're going to say no, and then so he's
having a lot of mountdowns and stuff, and we are
just our patience has gone and we are both feeling
really guilty for that because at the end of the day.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
They end up mirroring what you do, not what you say.
Speaker 10 (37:14):
And I have not been a very good example for
him because of my emotional state at the moment, where
I'm just losing it over really little thing.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
It's pretty brave of her to put up her hand
and say, hey, look, Harvey is acting out because of
me and the way that I act at home. There
seem to be a lot of self awareness there with that,
And as I briefly touched on, Steph is going to
be exploring potentially getting medicated for her ADHD. So she
has an appointment locked in with a psychiatrist, and she's
going to continue documenting her journey with her followers online,
(37:48):
which I think is really brave of her and I'm
interested to see how it all goes well. That is
where we are going to leave things today. Thank you
so much for listening to today's episode. If you have
