Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
Sophie Torber and coming up on today's show, Indy Clinton's
reluctant plastic surgery update, Sky Wheatley's chickenburger debacle, Lily Brown
and Jack Kenny address that viral pregnancy story, and why
(00:24):
TikTok are convinced that Alex Cooper and Alex Earl are feuding.
But first, our hometown of Adelaide was the hot spot
for high profile influencers this weekend. Kate, Oh, I kept
seeing every influencer putting up posts like oh, has anyone
got a good makeup artist in Adelaide?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
And packing for Adelaide? And I'm like, what's going on?
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Yeah? I didn't realize that Live goldf would get such
a top level of influencers. I was very impressed with
the PR team that was working with them. It made
Adelaide look cool. They had this incredible luxury house called
the Ripper House, which is where all of the VIPs
were rubbing shoulders. The AFF put out an article saying that, oh,
the likes of Chris Hemsworth and Serena Williams would be
(01:05):
there now. They didn't make it, but I was very
excited to see people like Indy Clinton. So for Dofer,
Lucy and NICKI ended up making it. They did miss
their fight, but they managed to get over here.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I bet the organizers freaked out when they saw that
Instagram update. Bet Judd was also there alongside Karl Stefanovic.
It looked like that Ripper House went off, so the
houses in Midindi. It's absolutely insane. I would have loved
to be a fly on the wall at Ripper House
and seeing the interaction between the large scale Ossie influences
and some of Adelaide's lower echelon of.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Influence, so it would have been really interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
I wonder if some of the lower influencers were hassling
the top ones for photos or wanting to befriend them
so that they got more engagement. I actually have heard
influencers talk about how they've stumbled across house parties in
the US when they're on holidays, and rather than people
introducing themselves, it's all about like, well, how many followers
do you have? And if you don't have enough, then
(01:59):
you don't get talked.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
To absolutely spewing.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Because I used to rent a place that was right
across the road from the Grange golf course, I could
have done the best people watching.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
It was absolutely chaos though.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
When the event was on last year, all of the
streets were closed and a lot of the houses around
us were being rented out for astronomical amounts of money,
like it was insane. I just loved that there was
finally a high profile influencer adjacent event and it wasn't
a debarcle like if you think back to what was it,
Sam Smith? Oh, that was just so embarrassing for Adelaide.
(02:28):
So because I actually feel like this made Adelaide look
like a really cool, desirable place to go. And it
was recently announced that Live Golf is actually going to
now be moving to North Adelaide so in the city,
which I think is a really great move because that's
going to get so many more interstate tourists and interstate
tourists discovering the city of Adelaide, which I think has
really changed so much over the past couple of years,
(02:51):
and it's such an exciting place to go to.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
I built this platform of being relatable and being honest
and showing you my real life.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Indy Clinton has reluctantly opened up about her impending plastic
surgery next month. The popular TikToker revealed she's getting rhinoplasty
to resolve an injury she got while surfing five years ago.
This video was really unlike anything I've seen before from
an influencer on the topic. Yeah, normally influencers actors though,
they're really excited to share the news, and they tell
(03:21):
their followers that they are taking them along the journey
with them. But Indy was the total opposite, and it
was really clear just how nervous she was to share
this news. Indy started off by saying it had been
eating away at her and at one point she was
even shaking because she just doesn't want to deal with
the impending judgment from her followers. Why do you think
she's been so reluctant to share about the surgery. It's
(03:43):
because she doesn't want to promote plastic surgery to her followers.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
So this is what she said on the matter.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
I mean a really hard position by I don't want
to talk about this. I would rather just do this
and hide it because I don't want to promote this
and I don't want to sound like I'm promoting this
because I'm doing this for myself. I'm in a position
where i have millions and millions of followers, so I'm
not trying to lie and hide something, but I'm not
trying to talk about it to monetize and promote, if
(04:09):
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
It was really interesting to hear the thought process Indy
went through to make the decision to share this news
with her audience. She was just so honest, and she
even said that she had considered pre recording content to
hide the fact she was having surgery, but she decided
against that because she didn't want to lie, and she
said it went against what her channel was actually built on.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Well, with Indy, her whole.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Channel is about being relatable, even though she is this
incredibly attractive, fit young mom who lives in this gorgeous
house right on the waterfront. And Indy has this way
of making you feel like she's one of you, and
she's chaotic and she's messy, and she's got you kids
vombit on all of her clothes. So I totally understand
(04:50):
her not wanting to share about something that perhaps a
lot of moms who follow her couldn't afford, or maybe
it's not top of their priority list.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
I also really like the fact that she said she.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Doesn't want to appear to be promoting plastic surgery, because
I know there's always a bit of a debate about it,
whether people should just be honest and transparent, or whether
that transparency is promoting more young people to think that
it's normal and everyone should be going and getting plastic surgery.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I mean, at the end of the day, it's an
individual choice.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
But it is good that she's thinking about the impact
that she does not have on her audience. And it's
actually not the first time she has undergone plastic surgery
since having such a large following. So last year, India
announced that she was taking time off social media for
a well deserved break, and India eventually opened up that
she had gotten a breast augmentation during her time offline,
but didn't want to be seen to be promoting it.
(05:40):
And it seems like she has learned from that experience
and is now wanting to be upfront with her followers
this time around, because I think a lot of people
like this gotcha moment where they're like, oh my god,
like it creates even more of a buzz where you've
got the before and after photo people trying to see
clues like, actually, I think from that angle she looks
different after there being so much speculation around her breast implants.
(06:00):
She probably thought it was important for her to sit
down with her audience and explain why she's getting a
nose job, because, I mean, as she said, she's had
this surfing accident. She pointed out what she wasn't happy with.
She owes anyone an explanation. But that actually made me
feel really sorry for her because it did seem like
she was trying to justify her decision to her audience.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Because she really did go in depth.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
She even showed a photo of her nose after the
accident happened, and it's really no one's business. But again,
as she said, it's a little bit hard to hide
her face. Like some people get so up in arms
about influencers or celebrities undergoing all this plastic surgery, but
most of the time the people who are up in
arms are those who have trolled the influencers over their
(06:41):
appearance and said why don't you do this or they
should do this, And then when they actually go and
do something about it.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
They also have a problem with it.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
They're like, Oh, that's so disappointing that you would go
and do that, even though I've told you all about
it now. It will be very interesting to see if
Indy shares the recovery process, because she said that she
wasn't sure if she was going to, because again, she
doesn't want to be seen to be monotone in the content.
But then again, her whole life is sharing her life
and her reality. It's clear that she has agonized over
whether to put this video out or not because her
(07:08):
husband Ben wrote underneath, well said baby, so proud of you,
and India replied saying, I was waiting on your text
back if I should post a weight lifted off my shoulders.
You know, I really liked seeing this interaction because it
really humanized the whole situation. And I think that's how
Indie remains relatable, because she does really wear her heart
on her sleeve, and while her lifestyle may not be
as relatable as it once was, she really does show
(07:31):
her insecurities and just tackles it head first, which a
lot of influencers don't do. Now at the time of
the recording, the video has over one thousand comments and
over six hundred thousand views.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
As expected, people.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Were weighing in and saying, I'm so disappointed in you,
And then there were a mix of people saying, oh,
you know, you don't even have to justify this to us.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
I'm naming and shaming for the first time in my
life right now, because that is just I feel really disrespected.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Sky Wheatley has teed off at her local fish and
chip shop after she received a chicken burger which looked
nothing like the photo in the seven minute video. The
Gold Coast influencer complained about the stores appalling customer service
and said it's the first time she's been driven to
name and shame a small business. So if it was
almost comical, how different the burger looked from the photo
(08:21):
on the Uber eats app look.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
On this podcast.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
I know we're not generally fans of influencers naming and
shaming small businesses, but I have never seen anything quite.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Like this in my life.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
This burger looked absolutely rained.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
What are you in year eight? I didn't know the
word rain. What are you gonna say? It's festive as well?
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Well?
Speaker 2 (08:37):
What I'm bringing it back?
Speaker 1 (08:38):
So in the Uber eats photo. It showed a burger
absolutely bursting with lettuce, tomato. It had aoli and a
very large juicy chicken breast coming out of the bun.
Yet the burger that arrived on Skywheatly's doorstep was laughable.
The pieces of chicken were absolutely miniskill, and inside the
burger was a dirty, great big chunk of tomato that
(08:59):
still had like the core on it, you know, the
green bit of the tomato. It was disgusting. I think
the end of the tomato would have been passable if
all the other elements hadn't been so shit. Well, it
was almost like there was more tomato than anything else
because the chicken was so small. We will upload a
photo on her Instagram stories just to give it justice
and so you can check it out now. Sky shared
a photo to her six hundred and fifty eight thousand
(09:21):
followers showing what she ordered versus what turned up and wrote,
this is.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
What came out.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
I'm absolutely raging, Like sorry, I'm so happy I can't
afford to eat, and I know not everyone has the
luxury of ordering takeout, but what an absolute fucking pits take.
To add insult to injury, the burger cost fourteen dollars
thirty and the meal in total for the family of
four was eighty dollars, which is.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Pretty hefty for fish and chips. But everything is so
damn expensive now. Sky and her.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Baby daddy were absolutely bewildered by the presentation that they
ended up ringing up the fish and chip shop and
asking for a refund. And this is where they encountered
what Sky said was appalling customer service.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
We call the fish and chip shop and we let
them know our feedback and whatever, and he hangs up
on us and turns the phone off. You best believe
I'm going to try to keep calling. I want to
get in touch with the owner because wait, sorry, let
(10:20):
me post this again. I don't even care if I'm
being bhy right now, because like, I've never.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Seen something like that ever in my life.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
The fish was wet.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
I'm sure they just grabbed it out of the fish
tank and slapped it on.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
I was so hungry, babe, I haven't.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Eaten since lunch.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
This is not It's not the burger that's the problem,
and the presentation and how disgustingly.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Appalling the food was.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
It's the customer.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Service that is actually enraging my soul, like to hang
up on someone who's trying to give.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Your business feedback. We weren't even being rude.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
We just said, like, hey, like, I ate the fish.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
I'm not asking for a refund on the.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Stanky fishy fish, but the burger, I'm like, I don't
want to pay fifteen?
Speaker 5 (11:20):
How is that eighteen?
Speaker 2 (11:22):
How was that eighty dollars?
Speaker 1 (11:24):
I wish there was a recording of this because I
feel like it would have been so funny to listen to.
I'm team Sky here, because I feel like it's absolutely
disgusting to hang up on a customer when they have.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
A legitimate complaint like this.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
The least the worker could have done is actually apologize
and offer some sort of refund for the burger or
the whole meal.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Because why am I having an annibal?
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Why am I having flashbacks to your story you shared
on Friday's podcast about that you're going through the Hj's
drive through and someone complaining, Well, maybe they had.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
A complain like this. They took their complain a little
bit too far. They get a bit a bit loud.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
But I just can't believe that a store would hang
up on a customer like this for a legitimate complaint,
because a lot of the time people do ring up like.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Yes to have a bit of a go, but also
so that the business can actually improve for next time.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
I clearly they didn't know who they were dealing with,
because if they had known it was sky Wheetley, who
has so many followers and she can go rogue on
a social media channels, they would have absolutely sent her
another burger rather than now having their local business named
and shames. I don't necessarily think that influencers should be
given preferential treatment and people have to roll out the
red carpet for them. I think that all customers should
be given the same level of respect. But gee, this
(12:36):
Vision Chip shop must be kicking themselves because they really
could have avoided all of this bad pr by just
giving her a refund and then redelivering.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Her a nicer meal. It's not that difficult.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Yeah, it's really a missed opportunity. I mean, Skystein several
times that she is aware that she's very privileged to
be in a position to order take away, and then
it wasn't about the money, it's just how she was
treated by the stuff, and that's what happens when things
escal over the phone, they clearly didn't realize who they
were dealing with.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
I mean, but in saying that, I mean our dad.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
He recently had a run in with a wine delivery company,
and yes he doesn't have any followers on social media,
but they treated him so badly that he's told everyone's
net don't buy anything from these people, like you can't
treat people badly when they've purchased something from your business.
Even with regular everyday people, bad word of mouth spreads.
(13:28):
I do think the Sky handled this situation quite well,
because it can be contentious when influencers name and shame
of business, and we've seen when that goes very badly
for influencers like jar Da Tunci. And I think she
was very aware that she didn't.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Want to come across as a brat or entitled.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
And she joked that she was waiting for the Daily
Mail to print a headline saying Skyweekly cries ob uber
eats order. And I like the way that she prefaced
that growing up she had a few of these sorts
of jobs, working at Cole's and EASYDBD and McDonald's. And
she said she was told from the get go that
the customer was always right and customer service was so important.
(14:03):
Here's more of what she said.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Anyway, I'm probably gonna get hate for this, but I
don't care. If if I if my business sent out
a burger that looked like that, I would be I
would be like, do you want roses to your front door?
What can I do to help not hang up on someone?
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Now, Sky isn't always known for handling these situations the best,
and that's why I want to give her props because
I thought it was quite clever that after her ranch,
she then recommended a great fish and chip shop on
the Gold Coast for her followers to go to instead,
and said how fantastic they were and that she loved
supporting that small business.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
I think that was a good way to wrap it up.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Now we have chosen not to name the store, but
I did go have a sneaky look at their reviews,
and I think it's important to point out the Sky's
negative review isn't the only one. So their reviews were
littered with one stars, and many customers labeled it the
worst fish and chips they've ever had. For you, Because
I am an absolute stick lair looking at reviews whenever
I order anything, be it products or food. Well, when
(15:07):
you've got two hungry kids on a Thursday night and
you just want takeaway, you probably don't have all of
the time in the world to go through the reviews
because they can be pretty mixed, and it's pretty hard
to mess up a chicken burger. Like you'd think that's
pretty simple for them to get right.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
Come spend Valentine's Day with me flying to New Zealand.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Og influencer Lily Brown and her iron Man boyfriend Jack
Kenny have been forced to address a viral pregnancy story
that took on a life of its own. So how
did this all unfold? Well?
Speaker 1 (15:36):
On Wednesday, Jet posted a photo dump from the week
and this year he has committed himself to doing weekly
photo dumps.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Now that's a big commitment.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
It is now he captured the post week six dump
and then put in brackets swipe to last for a surprise.
Does anyone else hate it when influencers refer to it
so boldly as a dump? Yeah, it feels like it
assaults your senses in a bit, especially when they add
poo emoji.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
I mean, yeah, you know.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
The technical term is carousel, which you sound like a
bit of a wank. If you like Weekly Carousel.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
You could say weekly photo Dump.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
I mean the caption's terrible anyway, but just I just
hate the word dump used in that. So you think
photo dump sounds better than just dump, Yes, I do,
because makes you think of the toilet. Well, this photo
dump in question, it contained all of the normal sort
of stuff. I had cute photos of the couple, had
jet with his nephews, and a couple of selfies until
it came to the last slide, which was a very
(16:30):
strange animated video showing a flying eagle dropping an egg.
Then out of the egg popped a photo of Lily
Brown Like. It was all very very bizarre.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Isn't this just a typical boy thing.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
They don't really take social media that seriously, and they
post like odd things that might be an in joke,
And then suddenly this just gets a life of its
own and the media pick up on it. Yeah, because
followers took this as being a pregnancy announcement and they
immediately started congratulating the couple. So one follower wrote congratulations
to you both, amazing news, whilst another said, oh my goodness, congratulations,
(17:07):
such beautiful news. And this led to a major media
outlet jumping the gun and publishing an article announcing the
couple's exciting pregnancy news.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
How mortifying for Lily Brown.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
She is someone that's grown up on social media, even
if babies aren't on her agenda at the moment.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
I think all of.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
Us have a way in the back of our mind
that we might think we want to announce our engagement
or our pregnancy, and I'm sure her animated as an
egg was not the way that she.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Wanted the thing.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
That's why I knew that it was bullshit from the start.
Knowing Lily Brown, she would never ever announce her pregnancy
news this way. I'm sure there would be a very
curated photo shoot. I mean, they're a very attractive couple,
so to me, this clearly wasn't a pregnancy announcement. And
the reason that this seemed to catch on so much
is because there have been ongoing pregnancy rumors about Lily
(17:56):
Brown for several months now, and I think it's because
she previously spoke on her podcast about how she and
Jet really want to have kids and they're close to
their nieces and nephews, so now it seems like any
time Lily is at an event like m Davis hens,
it's like, oh my god, she doesn't have an alcoholic
drink in her hand, Like people are trying to piece
together these little clues. I feel for Lily Brown because
(18:18):
it would be awful people speculating all the time that
you were pregnant, particularly because we don't know what's going
on behind the scenes where if this is even something
that she wants or that she's trying for, Like you know,
it's none of our business whatsoever, So it would be
really hard to come out and be like, hang on, guys,
call you Jets, this is not actually true. Inadvertently, it
would put a lot of pressure on them as a couple.
Jet took to his Instagram story saying I didn't think
(18:41):
I'd have to come on to Instagram at six fifteen
am to address the fact that people think that we're
pregnant from an eagle dropping an egg out of its
mum and then a photo of Lily emerges, But we're
not pregnant. He then called Lily over and turned the
camera on her, and she shouted not pregnant, not pregnant
for the fucking fifteen thousands times. She added, how on
Earth is me hatching out of an eagle's egg a
(19:03):
pregnancy announcement. Lily just has a boyfriend who makes funny
videos of her hatching out of an eagle's egg, and
apparently that's what the internet is clutching out as a
pregnancy announcement. Look, it is all very laughable, but to
be fair, the caption did reference a surprise at the end,
and you know what the Internet's like. Everyone is like,
this must be an easter egg or a clue. So
(19:26):
if people are trying to manifest her being pregnant for
some reason, you know, it just seems like people have
got excited and run away with it. Well, I mean,
the top clue for people should have been that none
of Lily and Jet's friends and family commented on the post,
and Lily shared nothing about it.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
I think that that should have put it to bed
for everyone.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
I hope if they ever do choose to have a
baby together and they make a pregnancy announcement that they
poked fun at that something. Yeah, was there any explanation.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
As to why that video was shared, what it was about,
or we.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Still want to pros I mean, I think that's probably
just his sense of humor. He probably just created it
and was bored and thought, oh, this is funny.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
I think we need to see more of that from him.
He's doing weekly.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Photo dumps everyone, so maybe there's gonna be some more
content in there. I might have to follow him. I
know Lily Brown has blocked us. Maybe he has two
I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Now I can still see his stuff. Okay, good morning,
My hands are orange, her heart is full. Going to
the offices today to record a podcast.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
It's Friday.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
TikTok is convinced Alex Cooper and Alex Earl are secretly feuding.
Before we get into it, Cake, can you give us
some background on each of the Alex's Well. Alex Cooper
is arguably the most successful woman in podcasting. She is
the thirty year old co creator and host of Call
Her Daddy, and in twenty twenty one, she signed a
three year exclusive deal with Spotify worth sixty million dollars now.
(20:42):
Once that Spotify deal expired, Alex set up her own
podcasting network called The Unwell Network, and when she announced
the news, she revealed that she had signed Alex Earl
to her network. As for Alex Earl, it's very confusing
both being Alex's but she has been labeled TikTok's it girl.
She's also Alex with not that that helps probably for
(21:02):
an audio platform, but I know, well, she's twenty four
years old and she found fame by sharing get Ready
with Me videos while she was studying at the University
of Miami, and Alex became one of the fastest growing
creators on TikTok and currently has seven million followers on
the platform as well as four million on Instagram now.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
On that podcasting deal.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
When it was announced back in September twenty twenty three,
some of Alex Earl's fans voice that they didn't think
it was the best deal for her because Alex L
actually has nearly double the amount of followers Alex Cooper has.
So Earl has a collective following of eleven million, well,
Cooper has just under six million.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
So a lot of people were saying, well, there's clearly
a lot of crossover of both of their audiences.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
So it's not actually that big of a coup for
Alex Earl to have been signed by Alex Cooper's network,
especially when presumably Alex Cooper is taking a big portion
of Alex Earl's podcast revenue. Yeah, But that being said,
TikTok followers are very different to podcast followers. So Alex
Cooper has one of the biggest podcasts in the world.
(22:04):
She has an inbuilt audience who were already sitting there
ready to consume content. It is more difficult to take
a TikTok audience over to podcasting. I don't know about that,
because when influencers who have a big following launch a podcasts,
they just promote it on their TikTok people players, because
I think that some people are happy to watch a
(22:24):
thirty second video of someone getting ready, but they don't
necessarily want to hear thirty minutes of what they have
to say. But that's for people who don't have a
public profile and need a leg up. So, for instance,
a lot of people probably don't remember but that She's
on the Money podcast that was originally produced by Shameless Media.
So back in the day, are remember Shameless So like, oh,
(22:45):
we've been working on this other podcast and they really
promoted it in their own feed, and that was Victoria
Devine's podcast, She is on the Money now. Victoria Divine
was the brains behind the podcast and she produced it
and came up with the idea herself, and she was
a very successful business person, but she didn't have much
of a social media profile. Yeah, and she didn't have
that audience. So a lot of the shameless listeners went
(23:06):
over to Victoria Devine's podcast and it's obviously extremely successful now.
So while you could say, oh, well, Alex Cooper really
has bolstered alex Earl's podcast, I argue that she would
have had a similar success if she just promoted her
on her own channels. I don't think that alex Earl
joined Alex Cooper's network for exposure and for an inbuilt
audience though. I think she joined the network because she
(23:27):
needed help with producing her podcast, getting ideas, editing, like
everything else at the network offers maybe help with podcast ads.
I mean, well, yeah, and that is a good point.
But it's clear something has happened between the pair and
things have gone south, because while neither party have commented
on the rumored few, there are a few telltale signs
(23:48):
that something is going on. So a big clue took
place last week when Alex Earl didn't attend the Unwell
Super Bowl party, and this was despite her being in
town for the game, and apparently it's not the first
Unwell Network publicity event that she's missed either, so fans
have noticed that she hasn't been in attendance for a
while now.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Another sign is that.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
The Unwell Network socials have reduced how much they promote her,
So she used to be the poster girl of the network,
but that has changed. So Alex Cooper has been spooking
influencer Hailey Batcheld a lot recently.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
It also seems like the.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Alex's have taken opposite sides in another very public podcasting feud,
so it probably sounds a little bit familiar. But two
podcasters who were signed with Barstall are also having a
messy friendship breakdown. So the podcasters in question are Grace
O'Malley and Brianna Chicken Fry.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Come on, chicken Fry is not her real last name?
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Is?
Speaker 2 (24:43):
I have to be honest.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
I was not familiar with them, and I had to
double check, and no, it isn't her real last name.
It is her stage name.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
I say, very.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Appropriate, another sort of Chicken Burgers last chicken Fry here.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
Well, these two were best friends since high school and
they've had this big public bust up, they're no longer
doing the podcast together, and Alex Cooper has had Brianna
on her show, what Alex Earl has had Grace on
hers Well. The real smoking gun for me was when
Alex Earl did an interview with her dad TJ on
her podcast in early December. Now TJ manages Alex and
(25:15):
her sister, and during the episode, Alex said that her
dad is good at having hard conversations with people, especially
when it comes to when people don't realize Alex's full
potential of what she needs to be doing. TJ then
also went into detail about a recent incident where he
had to take care of some drama for Alex while
keeping her out of it. While he initially called it
(25:36):
a business situation, he alluded that there was more to
it by saying it was also something else. He then
went on to say that at the time he wasn't
happy about it and still isn't happy about it. And
as the Internet does, people have put two and two
together and a speculating TJ is referring to Alex Earl
signing with the Unwell Network.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
I mean, this whole thing does make a lot of sense.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
It seems like Alex Earl is distance and seeing herself
from Alex Cooper and the network, and it is predicted
she will jump ship as soon as her contract is
over with the network.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
And before we go, we want to address a TikTok
that's gone viral about our podcast.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
So off the back of a topic about Ruby Tuesday,
Matthew's bleaching her nine year old son's hair, Amy made
a very throwaway line about an Adelaide mum she saw
on TikTok who faked hands her children. Yeah, and you
will have noticed that Amy's voice is absent from today's show,
and that is because we have suspended her over her comments.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
I'm just joking.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
We haven't really Amy's thirty one weeks pregnant and she
hosted her baby shower yesterday. She is absolutely exhausted. I
don't think anyone should host past thirty weeks pregnant. That
was a bit of a mistake. I mean, we did
help her, and we do want to clear this up
because the way TikTok works, there's no context and Amy
has got pregnancy insomnia at the moment. And as you do,
you scroll on TikTok very late at night, and for
(26:56):
some reason she has been down this rabbit hole of
people fake tanning their kids and kids fake tanning routines.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Now she has seen a.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
Snippet of Matilda Norton, who is the Adelaide creator's content,
where she said this line A.
Speaker 6 (27:12):
Lot on your faces here since I confessed to tanning
my two little boys. So I thought i'd do a
little bit of an intro and tell you guys a
little bit about myself.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
So my name is Matilda.
Speaker 6 (27:20):
I'm a stay at home mom to two little boys,
Banks and Albi.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Now, Matilda created that video off the back of her
going viral after she shared a satirical video about fake
tanning her children. She obviously does not fake tan her children.
Speaker 6 (27:36):
Okay, I get so many comments like this about Albi's
gorgeous tan skin, and I'm going to share with you
how we maintain the summer glow for him, not me, clearly.
So what I do is after his bath, I just
do two layers of BONDI San's ultra dark.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
I do want to point out that this wasn't offhand comment.
We didn't actually concentrate the whole segment cooling out Matilda
or anything along those lines. And I want to give
Matilda a bit of a shout out because she is
an Adelaide creator who is doing so well at the moment.
I'm sorry that she was caught up in this offhand comment.
Her parenting content is amazing. She is actually a very
(28:14):
avid listener of the podcast. We went back and had
a look and we've actually been chatting to her since
I think like twenty twenty one. It's so funny how
social media works, because I think it was a couple
of weeks ago you sent me one of her videos
about how she's creating a mum's group in Adelaide and saying,
such a good idea, you should join, And when I
saw it, I was like, that name looks so familiar,
and I didn't put two and two together that it
was the same Matilda that's in our DM. So if
(28:36):
you do see her video popping up, please spare us
the thought. It was a bit of a fuck up,
quite embarrassing, and in saying that, I do really feel
for Amy because that just shows the big difference between
TikTok and Instagram. So I feel like on Instagram you
have the context of who the people are that you're following,
but the way the TikTok algorithm works. You just shared
this random content based on what you're looking at. So
(28:57):
if you've just been scrolling watching a whole bunch of
content of people fake tanning their kids and then this
one pops up and it's like, Oh, I went viral
for fake tanning my kids and you scroll lie. I
just want people to know we do have a sense
of human Yeah, we do get satirical comedy, Yes we do.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Maybe we need a bigger attentions back.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Yeah, we need to put a block on Amy's phone
so she's not scrolling ticks I can get at four am. Well,
I think that is all we have time for today.
Thank you so much for joining us for another episode.
