I started attending
therapy when I was in high
school and I actually enjoyedthe process.
I would look forward to goingto meet with my therapist that
was there on the school campus.
We had someone that would comein, that was outside of the
school district and she wouldmeet with me once a week and I

looked forward to that day everyweek.
I was actually a little sadwhen our sessions had ended
Because, yes, I may have beenthrough six, eight or 12

sessions, whatever it calmness,the feeling like someone
understood me when I met withher a few days afterwards, but,
believe me, after a couple ofdays, I was looking forward to
that next session because Iwanted to feel understood, I

wanted to feel seen once again,and so, even after, there was
this one thing that I didn'tlearn.
That is what truly startedmaking the difference in my life

to where now I have clarity, Ihave peace, I have a tool bag of
skills to reach from, because Iheard this one phrase and I
kept saying what does that mean?
If that's what I need, whatdoes that mean?
Because at this time, I hadn'tspent years off and on in
(01:58):
therapy seeing differenttherapists, only to get that
rush of peace and calmness, fora temporary setback later.
It didn't last.
I was good while I was there.
I was good sometimes hours,sometimes days after, but then,
once that was over, I neededsomething else.

I need to figure out what to dowith this part of my life.
Once I go in there, I'mbreaking down because I'm trying
to figure out what is life andis it really supposed to be this
way, and why did I experiencethe different traumatic
experiences?
Who would give me the answers?

And a lot of time.
I was met with a lot of goodfeedback, but I wasn't ever
really equipped with tools topush me forward that I can take
on my journey of life.
And so, years later, after I'vebeen going through therapy, I
(03:03):
have a mental breakdown and withthat breakdown, I'm out for
weeks and months and I'vechecked out.
I'm not even sure if I wanted todo life any longer, but what I
did know was that I wanted to bepresent for my children and
that I wanted to be in theirlives and I wanted to see them
(03:25):
grow and I wanted to show them abetter way of life.
But how could I do that when Ididn't know how?
And I knew that doing the sameroutine of going to therapy
wasn't going to help me, becausesomething had to change.
(03:47):
And I didn't know what thatchange was.
And while I'm sitting in bedand praying, crying, sleeping,
waking up with nightmares andbeing severely depressed, my
body was full of heightenednegative experiences.

I knew that if I went back anddid therapy the exact same way
that I was doing it before, thatall of this could come back,
rushing in, reminded me ofeverything that I've been
through in, reminded me ofeverything that I've been
through.
What I realized in my brokenstate, when I finally decided
(04:29):
that, yes, I wanted to be better, but really better not baseline
, but truly better was thatsomething had to change.
I needed something that wastruly lasting, that would equip
me.
I needed to really begin ahealing journey.
At that time, I thought I needto heal.

That was my words.
I need to heal.
But now I know that healing isa journey and it's important.
It is essential to have tools,to have techniques, skills,
resources to go with you alongthe way, and this thing is what

helped me make a true difference, a true transformations in
their lives, to help us gain theclarity, the peace, knowing our
purpose that we once needed,and you know what that one thing
is.

flight freeze response, we areunaware that we're living there.

All we know is that, despitebeing physically safe and being
in our normal environment, wedon't feel safe emotionally or
spiritually.
We are living a disturbed life.

other people happy, your spiritis low and you are losing the

It's also about making sleep apriority.
That's an important thing to do.
We need to have sufficient rest.
We need to eat well, giving ourbody strength and nutrients.

We also need to know when totake breaks and that's not only
just physical breaks, but alsomental breaks and spiritual
breaks to where we're takingtime, to where we are really
looking within ourselves, toclear our mind.
Because how many times haveyour mind been running and

running, and running and you'vejust been like gosh?
I just wish you would just shutup.
I'm trying to sleep right nowor I'm trying to focus on this
task at hand, and I can'tbecause I have all these things
running through my mind Insteadof you being able to focus on
one thing.
You're focusing on sending anemail, washing dishes, going

grocery shopping when, all inall, if you did one step at a
time, you'll have them knockedout in no time.
Right?
