Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello and welcome back to the next episode of
Overcome Yourself, the podcast.
As you know, my name is Nicoleand I'm so excited to be here
today with Dr Alma, and she is afertility specialist.
I'm going to like destroy it,so what I'm going to do is I'm
going to go ahead and let youtake the wheel and let us know
who you are, what you do and whoyou help.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, absolutely so.
I am a fertility specialist bytraining.
I'm a naturopathic doctor boardcertified and all that, and I
coach business people on how touse their fertility and their
cycles to optimize theirbusinesses.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Amazing.
So one of the things that stoodout to me when you said what
you were overcoming yourself wasovercoming the masculine side
the hustle, the busy.
Can you talk to me a little bitabout that and what that means?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah.
So as a high achieving woman Imean so many of us are I feel
like are in these, like we'vewent to a lot of school, we did
a lot of things in our lives.
Some people are in corporate.
So for me, like I relied reallyheavily on that side.

(01:19):
And to me, the masculine islike get shit done right, like
I've got my to-do list, I've gota million things going on.
I'm going to manage my calendarfrom that perspective and like
really dial it in.
And as I became an entrepreneurand was growing through that,

(01:40):
all of my coaches were also thesame right Like, oh, you're not
doing enough.
You got to show up on socialmedia like 16 times a day.
So like all of these tools andtactics that I was learning were
all also promoting the samething, which is do more.
You're not doing enough.

(02:00):
More, you're not doing enough.
You just need to keep bustingit out.
And you know, like in I feellike in that entrepreneurial
spirit, there isn't a lot ofspace for like actually, I need
to slow this down and I can'tpost 16 times a day, so what's

(02:22):
the alternative?
16 times a day, so what's thealternative?
And when I started looking forthose things.
I felt like there wasn't a lot,and no one was talking about
how to not hustle harder inorder to grow your business.
So that's kind of how I cameinto this, and the reflection

(02:43):
that I saw of like being so inmy masculine was my periods were
a wreck, my I felt burnt out, Iwas exhausted most of the time
and um took a hit on so manylevels there that I didn't
connect all of the pieces untilI started thinking about my

(03:07):
fertility, and that was themoment where I was like, oh shit
, like I'm doing this all wrongand I had to overcome that piece
and really find the sync withmy feminine side in order to not
just support my family that Iwanted to have, but to also like

(03:28):
run my business from adifferent place and not feel
burnt out and exhausted all thetime.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Right, oh my God, because it's so stressful.
Yes, I totally get it.
I am so lucky, my coach, one ofher.
One of her teachings is rest isan income producing activity.
That is one of the things thatshe drills into our head, and so
if we're ever like, oh, she'slike you need to rest and that's

(03:56):
how you're gonna make money iswhen you rest.
And so what do you think aboutthat?
Rest is an income producingactivity.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Absolutely Like rest is so important and I think that
it's like, for me it was restis great If I can, of course,
like getting adequate sleep, optimizing that sleep so that
I'm getting the most restfulnessout of it has all been

(04:25):
important.
And rest in the sense of how doyou so?
For me, the question becamelike, is there an optimal time
for rest?
Right, Like you probably hearfrom the way that I talk, is
like everything's aboutoptimizing because I just like,

(04:46):
I don't like to waste time.
But I'm also aware that thereare some key things that we're
not doing if we're just alwayson the go.
So the rest piece for me hasbecome really intentional rest
around my menstrual cycle, likethe couple of days leading up to

(05:08):
it and then the day of thefirst day, and then maybe like a
couple days after, if I can.
And those days of rest areactually days that I am getting
the most downloads in terms ofmy intuition, getting the most
downloads in terms of myintuition.

(05:29):
What's happening?
Like, what's my guidance frommy inner self in what I need to
prioritize for that next month.
So it's like, like takes it tothe next level in terms of like,
yes, rest to regenerate andrecuperate.
But in that resting period, ifyou're timing it with your cycle
or the moon, if you don't havea cycle, you can actually gain

(05:53):
so much momentum through therest.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
I love that.
I love that so much and thattakes being healthy and being on
time right, like having regularperiods, because I was in a
point in my life when I had noidea when that guy was going to
show up or that girl was goingto show up and so how could you

(06:19):
take rest a few days before anda few days after?
And so, if you didn't know, yeah, yeah and so like and so
like.
You have to focus on diet, youhave to focus on resting, you
have to focus on making surethat you're getting all the
nutrients that you need, becausethat you know, those are some
of the things that I had to do.
And then, once all of thosethings are established, then of
course, you can actually planout and be like Alright, so no

(06:41):
calls on my calendars for thisweek.
We're not taking any calls, andthat helps you be more
productive.
Another one that I've learnedis, after big events, big
launches that I do you have totake time off.
Like Nicole, you have to rest, because I can't just jump right
back into doing a bunch ofthings right, and so it's

(07:03):
planning for that and thenlearning to be okay with it.
This is not a waste of time.
I love what you said.
This is me recharging mybatteries, like you know,
getting back all my spoons.
Like you know, if you're in thedisabled world, if you're a
spoonie, you gotta build up yourspoons again.
But yeah, just really buildingthat into your schedule, and

(07:27):
then, when you are at work, you're performing better because
you actually want to be there, you're excited to be there,
you're motivated, you know whatto do.
You're not like draggingyourself through it, right?
I love that so much.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yes, yeah, absolutely , or you're in those like really
intense moments.
It's really important that youstack it with some time after to
recuperate, and I find thatwith myself for a lot of times.

(08:00):
Like I go to a conference whichis often exhausting, it's a lot
of like output of energy and Iwould like fly back late, that
that the end of the conferencethe day of, fly back home really
super late, and then wake upthe next day and like jump right
into life, kid, husband, cooking, whatever and you know,

(08:25):
what it is.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Very corporate America.
Like you're expected.
Like you, you're not allowed totake days off.
You have to be back at work.
Like you go to.
You know you fly somewhere fora conference, for work, and you
come in Sunday at midnight andyou're expected to be there
bright eyed and bushy tailedMonday morning at 9am.
Like, in what world?
Like have you ever traveledbefore?

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Like, right, yep, exactly.
So that was one of the thingsthat I noticed was like wow,
when there are these intenseoutputs of energy especially as
I tend to be more introvertedthan extroverted so being in
these like really intense energyspaces is like not I enjoy it

(09:08):
and it is exhausting.
So, yeah, yeah, exactly.
So what you said is so, so, so,so key is like building time
for that recuperation after Now.
If you are able to predict yourcycles, like you were saying,

(09:29):
if you have irregular cycles, then things get a little bit
more dicey.
But if you have predictablecycles, then if you stack your
launches around days that arereally optimal for depending on
what your launch looks like, right, like, if your launch is

(09:50):
open cart, closed cart, you'vealready recorded everything,
it's pre-done for you, then youdon't need to worry about it as
much.
But if your launch looks likeI'm going live on Instagram for
the whole week, every single day, then that's a really great way
to time that around yourovulation period, where you are

(10:15):
most magnetic, right Like, thisis the time where people see you
and they're like, oh my God,who is she?
I want to be near her, and it'slike such a powerhouse time.
I love that time every singlemonth and if we're able to use
that energy that our bodies arenaturally exuding, then guess

(10:40):
what?
We've just like 10x our launch, because that's just who we are
in that time period.
We are in that time period.
So it's like a really ninja way, I think, to be able to time
the things in your business toyour menstrual cycle and being

(11:00):
able to realize like, oh,depending on how I'm doing this
launch, it may mean, like I wantit during my extroverted time,
right, like ovulation connection.
We're really good.
Like I try to even time mysales calls quote-unquote around
ovulation time.
It's like that week give me allthe appointments.

(11:23):
I want like extra appointmentsand and then during my menstrual
time, don't give me shit, because I'm gonna not be that
pleasant to be around, and Iwill.
I'll do it and I'll show up ifI have to, but it's not as ideal
.
So if things can be timed toour cycle, then we're

(11:46):
accelerating our businesses inways that are not like.
You can't say, oh, I'm going to, like, make X amount more money
because I did it this way.
But you know what Like, if youstart tracking and you're like
hey, I timed this thing for mycycle, I timed it for the
optimal time.

(12:07):
I felt less burnt out because Ihad just more extensive energy,
and then I had the time torecuperate because as soon as
that phase was over guess what?
It was time for my period.
I needed to rest anyway.
And if you start thinking inthis way, then what you're going
to find is like oh, I'm makingmore money, I feel more rested,

(12:31):
I'm not burnt out and it's alllike working together instead of
I'm constantly churning and Ifeel like I'm on a hamster wheel
just trying to keep it alltogether.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Yeah, it's actually getting to enjoy the journey as,
as they say, right, like that'swhat it's about.
You know, I remember my low.
You know one of my low points.
I was like either, we're notgoing to do this at all, but if
I'm going to live, I want tolive.
I want to like enjoy the timethat I have here, Like I don't
want to be dragging myselfthrough this thing.
We call life just for what?

(13:08):
Like just to be miserable.
No, and so I think this is so,so important as we look, because
sometimes you know, coaches arelike plan out your year and
you're like I don't know what'sgonna happen tomorrow, but when
we look at being able to seethese cycles, you know that,
throughout the month, throughoutthe year, and being able to say

(13:28):
, all right, this is going to belike an active time, like I can
host a summit, like immediately.
When you said events, I was likeI host summits, like being able
to take the time to do thelives, you know, before the
event, and I can take some time, you know, during my ovulation
time, and then I can do all thelives with all the speakers and
go in their groups, and then Ican like go back in my cave with

(13:52):
all the speakers and go intheir groups, and then I can
like go back in my cave, right, and then, yes, the next month we
go live and we do the summit, and then I can go back in my
little cave.
Um, yeah, I love that and, andthat's such an easy way to be
able to look at things and belike, oh, okay, like this is,
like you know, week by week, like this is what is gonna be
best for me to do, based on youknow, based on you know, based
on the science, like we got tolook it up, cause I'm sure, I

(14:13):
have a client who does.
She's broken down the cyclesthroughout the day.
So like what are your peakworking times and what are your
peak like resting times?
So like everything from themicro to the macro.
Like we, we can learn how tojust like go with the flow, like
that's what it means Go withthe flow right, the ultimate

(14:34):
flow of our lives.
Yeah, oh, my goodness, that isamazing.
All right, can you tell me alittle bit about how gratitude
plays a part in all of this?

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Oh gosh, I love gratitude, that's such a great
question.
I think that gratitudegratitude is very important,
important, and when I firstheard about it, I feel like it
was Oprah or something like 25years ago, right, she was
talking about gratitude and likehave a gratitude journal and it

(15:11):
never worked for me.
I've tried so many journals andthat's just not how I do
gratitude.
So, what has been really eyeopening and like as I've been
going through this journey.
What I have realized throughthis journey, what I have
realized and now has beenconfirmed by one of my mentors,

(15:44):
dr Joe Dispenza, is that we needto feel it.
It's not a like, it's an actualemotion and we've all felt it
at different points in our lives, right, like.
We have that like.
We've all felt it at differentpoints in our lives, right, like
we have that like overflow ofgratitude, that sometimes like
manifests in tears and like, ohmy God, I'm so grateful.
Those are us actually feelingemotionally what that emotion is

(16:05):
about.
However, if we can take thatemotion, that level of intensity
that we feel in specificmoments, and if we can feel it
for something that hasn'thappened yet, which is Dr Joe
dispenza's work, right is likehow do we feel this future

(16:25):
gratitude without feeling a lackof like?
We are already living thatfuture now with the emotion of
gratitude, and that is like themagic sauce for creating and
manifesting from a place of like.

(16:46):
This is truly aligned with myspirit and I'm like bringing
forth the future with thisemotion of gratitude.
So that's what I've beenpracticing lately and I love it.
That it's like and I love itthat.

(17:07):
That it's like it lights me upbecause it's very different than
like write down the thingsyou're grateful for and everyone
can make a list, and it's greatif that's like, if that works
for you, cool, keep doing it.
But for me, like I really hadto get with this like deep
feeling of what that is andmaking it present in my life

(17:28):
right now.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Not like I'll be grateful for this thing when I
have it, but I'm grateful nowand I know that it's coming
that's amazing and I'm glad youbrought that up, because the
writing the three things downthere you're grateful for that's
like level one Right, and I doadvise that my clients do that.
If they don't have a gratitudepractice in place is the little

(18:03):
area in your brain where we feelgratitude.
If you haven't used it in awhile.
It's kind of like a muscle thatatrophies.
It doesn't work, but the onlyway that we can get it to start
working again is to start usingit.
And so we start with writingdown three things to adjust our
perspective.
But then what you're talkingabout is that's like where we're

(18:24):
going with it and that'squantum physics.
That's straight up quantumphysics.
Like it already exists, youalready have it.
You have to bring it into yourexistence by seeing it, by
recognizing it, by believingthat it's there, Like.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
I know it sounds weird, but like you can go read
the science.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
It's there.
I'm actually reading a book Idon't have it here, but that's
exactly what it's talking aboutand gratitude, it really
amplifies that.
And so when we get to the nextlevel, right now that we've got
our you know, like our sit-ups,our pushups, by doing our three
things, now we feeling it andit's.

(19:03):
It really is.
It's just next level, like, like you know.
And then when you're walkingaround in the world, what I want
my clients to start doing isshifting their perspective where
they're walking around andthey're like oh, I'm so grateful
for the sunlight, oh, I'm sograteful for this dinner.
Oh, my god, I'm so grateful forthis dinner.
Oh, my God, I'm so grateful forhow beautiful this looks.

(19:23):
I'm so grateful for you.
And it's just, it's just comingout of overflow, it's just
happening because you'relearning to focus on it, and
then you're going to get to thislevel and it really just feels
like something next level andyou really start creating the
future.
So how can we keep in touchwith you?

Speaker 2 (19:46):
start creating the future.
So how can we keep in touchwith you?
A really good place to connectis actually on Instagram at
holistic fertility doctor.
Send me a message.
I'm super active on there.
I'm happy to chat with whatever, and I would love to hear what
people think about this and howyou're applying it in your life.
That would be amazing.
Send me a message and then, ifyou want to stay in touch
through I do have a newsletterthat we send out every week.

(20:08):
So if you go toholisticfertilityinstitutecom,
that's our website and then youcan sign up for our newsletters,
get some of our free downloadsthat are on there, and we would
love to stay in touch.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Perfect.
Yay, and all of those links, asyou guys know, are going to be
available down in the show notes.
All right, so any final tipsLike what's the big juicy tip?
Oh, that was, I guess was punintended that you have for us
that you want to leave us withhere.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Just I think we talked about rest a lot, so
finding the ways to optimizeyour sleep optimal is like turn

(21:04):
off your screens an hour, thensleep at least like six to eight
hours everyone's different, whatever is your optimal and
then, when you wake up in themorning, get sunlight onto your
eyeballs within the first 30minutes of waking is the ideal,
because the sun helps to resetyour clock and it tells your

(21:26):
body hey, it's wake up time.
Wake up that brain, wake up therest of the body.
So making sure that you getsunlight in the morning is
really ideal.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
I'm just laughing because, like when it's like in
the morning and I see thesunlight, I'm like a vampire.
I'm like a vampire, I'm like no, no, but I'll make a point to
open up my window and just belike hello world but, I, just
immediately thought of that butokay all right.
Um, that should be super helpful.

(21:57):
Um, for me at least.
I mean um, thank you so so much.
This has been absolutelyincredible.
Um and um.
Yes, no, we covered everything,I just wanted to make sure.
So, um, we will see you guysnext time on the next episode of
overcome yourself, the podcast.
Thanks for joining us bye.
