Speaker 1 (00:00):
No, no, you're fine.
Oh there it is.
Hi and welcome to the nextepisode of Overcome Yourself,
the podcast.
As you know, my name is Nicoleand I'm so excited to be here
today with Jenna and I loveJenna.
Jenna is part of my coachesgroup, so the coach that I meet
with that I talk to you guysabout sometime, and so I love
(00:22):
Jenna.
Like we hang out every week inour in our coaching calls.
But I've also participated inone of Jenna's challenges and I
got to learn all about my humandesign, how I work like, how it
aligns my whole life, Like I gotsome good news.
I got some bad news.
I didn't love the name that Igot, but the meaning of it was
(00:46):
absolutely beautiful and Jennais just such a powerhouse when
it comes to teaching women, men, anybody, entrepreneurs how
human design relates to theirbusiness.
And before I chop it up anymore, I'm going to go ahead and let
you take it away, Jenna.
Please introduce yourself, Tellus who you are and who you help
(01:07):
, and tell us all about humandesign.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Hello everybody.
My name is Jenna.
I am the soulful businessstrategist.
Basically, I help you use yourhuman design to take the ick out
of your business.
So if you've ever felt likeyou've been forcing things to
work in your business and theyjust aren't working and it feels
gross, or if you ever felt likeyou were in resistance to a
(01:33):
strategy that that one coachtold you you had to do in order
to be successful, I'm here tohelp you find your solution to
making business fun, to makingit effortless and to making it
impactful, all using your humandesign, that's cool.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
I love it.
Yeah, so tell us a little bitabout your background, jenna,
like how did you end up here?
How did you overcome yourselfto end up at such an amazing
like an amazing crossroad, amazing niche that you have?
Speaker 2 (02:03):
It is such a crazy
long winding road kind of story.
I started as a makeup and hairartist in Los Angeles and I've
been doing that for 25 years now.
It was.
(02:25):
I celebrated so many majorhighs in my career as a makeup
artist.
I was working with celebrities,I went on tour with musicians,
I did red carpet stuff.
I had the kind of career that alot of makeup and hair people
across the nation would havelooked at and been like, oh my
gosh, I'm so jealous, but y'all,my gosh, I'm so jealous, but
(02:51):
y'all.
My bank account did not matchthat.
I was constantly struggling topay rent, to keep food on my
table, to keep the lights on.
I never had a savings account.
I always referred to myself as astarving artist and it took me
a whole nationwide pandemicshutdown and a complete and
total pivot in my life to reallysee all the ways that I had
been holding myself back in mycareer the whole time.
(03:12):
So from there, a lot of mindsetwork, a lot of self-awareness,
a lot of overcoming myselfensued so that I could get over
all those ways that I washolding myself back, because I
really could have gone so muchbigger in that career and I
(03:32):
really could have been makingmoney hand over fist in that
career.
But, you know, there wasimposter syndrome, there was low
self-esteem, there was just allthis like limiting belief
around who I was as an artistand what I was capable of.
So in 2020, when the world shutdown, my career shut down
because all of Hollywood justwent dark and I had nothing to
(03:55):
do, and so, you know, I sat onthe couch in complete and utter
depression for a couple ofmonths.
But then I picked myself up andI was like, okay, I can't sit
here forever like just saying mylife sucks and I'm not making
money.
Um, I decided to go all in oncreating a bridal beauty
business, cause I noticed thatpeople who worked in weddings is
something I had alwayspoo-pooed before.
They were still making moneyand they were making good money,
(04:17):
and I was like, why can't I dothat?
So I started to create abusiness.
I hired a business coach so Icould actually treat it like a
business and, for the very firsttime in my life, I was looking
at my artistry like a businessinstead of referring to myself
as a starving, struggling artist.
That was when I really juststarted to realize all those
ways that I'd been keepingmyself small.
(04:38):
I worked to overcome all ofthose things, to shift my
mindset.
I realized that there wereother women doing the same
things to themselves holdingthemselves back in whatever way,
keeping themselves small inwhatever way because of things
that they've been told taughtwhat they formulated as a belief
.
So I knew I wanted to help them, and not just in the world of
(05:02):
makeup and hair.
I knew I wanted to actuallyhelp them with their mindset,
their beliefs.
So I wanted to become a coach.
I had no idea how to become acoach.
That in and of itself is awhole long, windy, twisty road,
my road to being a coach, butsomewhere along the way I
stumbled across human design, and learning that system,
(05:26):
understanding that system andhow it applied for me started to
change everything.
And then, at one point in time,I had this total light bulb
connection of let's connect myhuman design to my business,
let's use my specific and uniquetraits and characteristics of
(05:46):
my human design directly in howI do my business.
And that is when I actuallystarted making money as a coach,
because up until that point ithad been crickets.
There I feel like I'm rambling, sorry, no, fantastic.
There's been this, this trend onInstagram lately where people
(06:08):
say like I'm X years old and I'mnot ashamed to admit and mine
was I'm a 47 year old businesscoach who's not ashamed to admit
that for the first three yearsof my business, I made $0.
And the reason why is because Iwas so caught up in my head
about making sure I was doing itright and not making the wrong
(06:31):
choices Right, that I was makingchoices that didn't align with
me.
I was implementing strategiesthat felt icky, I was forcing
myself to do things that feltlike a total energy zapper, that
drained me, that made me notexcited about my business.
But I was showing up everysingle day doing all the things
(06:55):
and it got to the point whereI'm like in tears.
I'm doing everything right, I'mdoing all the things, I'm
constantly working, I'mexhausted all the time.
I haven't made a single sale.
And that's when that light bulbmoment happened and I was like,
wait a second, what if I'mdoing all the wrong things?
And that's why I'm not makingany sales.
So I found a way to first it waswith expression and
(07:19):
communication use my voiceaccording to my human design,
and that's what people finallystarted to respond to and engage
with me and take notice of me.
And then I started to branchout and see well, how else can I
apply my human design to whatI'm doing?
So my voice, my brand identity,my purpose with my business,
how I lead people, how I leadmyself, how I schedule my week,
(07:42):
how I show up, when I show up,when I don't show up, all the
things, it's all done accordingto my human design.
So that's what brought me heretoday.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
So I want to know for
the people in the audience who
maybe are not familiar withhuman design, because you know,
we, we get in our spaces rightand then we're we're talking
with people who are veryfamiliar or they're doing the
same things as us, but then wego outside of those circles and
human design is not as somethingthat is familiar.
So can you give us like a quickrundown of cause?
(08:14):
I know it's really big, but canyou kind of explain what it is
rundown?
Speaker 2 (08:18):
of, because I know
it's really big, but can you
kind of explain what it is?
Yes, absolutely.
Human design is a.
It's considered the science ofdifferentiation, which means
it's basically a study of howevery single one of us are
completely unique from the other.
Like there are eight plusbillion people in this world,
human design says that not onesingle one of us is like the
(08:39):
other.
We are all unique.
What it does is it utilizesyour birth information the exact
time, the exact location andthe day that you were born and
it basically takes thatinformation, sees how the
planets aligned and creates thisentire blueprint for you.
(09:00):
So it has some similarities toastrology.
Human design, the system itselfactually layers several other
existing sciences and systemslike astrology, like the chakras
, like Kabbalah Tree of Life, the Chinese I Ching, which is a
very ancient system, quantumphysics.
(09:21):
It utilizes all of thesedifferent sciences and systems
and like synthesizes them kind,of, layers them together to see
how they all play together, andit, just like I said, takes your
birth data to create thisblueprint according to exactly
how the planets aligned thatmoment that you came onto this
earth and it tells youeverything about you.
(09:41):
Now, it's not something forthose of you who don't know what
human design is.
It's not something that isspecifically applied to business
.
It is an overall blueprint forwho you are and how you are in
this world in your most naturalstate of being.
Before your parents told youwho to be, before your teachers
and the media and the governmentall told you what you had to be
(10:02):
.
Human design is who youactually are before all of that.
So I personally apply it to mybusiness, but you can use it for
everything in lifeRelationships.
I found it's very impactfulwhen you're looking at your
relationships with other people.
My husband uses it in hisacting career.
He utilizes it when he'swriting characters, which is
(10:24):
really cool.
In fact, we've even thought todo like a whole workshop with
actors using human design sothey can like come at their
character study from a whole newlevel.
So it really is so diverse andmultifaceted that it is, like I
said, an overall blueprint foryour entire existence.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Amazing.
That is as comprehensive as itcan get if you have not gotten
into human design.
Like Jenna said, there's it's sospecific and there's so many
different specifications, there's so many different areas
and so it's kind of hard toexplain.
So the best thing to do is likejump into Jenna's group and get
(11:11):
one of her readings.
But let's use me as an example.
So I know for a fact that, likeone of the big categories that
you can be is like, for example,I'm a generator and that's like
one of the first things that weidentified.
So can you tell me a little bitabout what that means for me
and other people who might begenerators, how we can use that
in our business?
Speaker 2 (11:36):
So human design, like
you said, is so vast it has
over a thousand touch points orpieces of information about you
are layered into this chart, andso it can feel really
overwhelming for somebody whostumbles upon human design for
the first time.
You're like, oh my God, I don'tknow what any of this means.
Here's the cool thing abouthuman design you don't have to,
(12:00):
because it is actually who youalready are.
It's like reading your ownowner's manual.
All you have to do is startbeing in alignment with the most
basic components, thefoundational components of human
design, and all those otherthousands of touch points or
pieces of information just fallinto place naturally.
(12:21):
It's just who you are Like.
You don't have to do anything,it's just you're just allowing
it to shine through.
So what are the foundationalcomponents?
So the biggest piece thatyou'll hear when you stumble
across human design is what'syour type?
There are five types in humandesign.
You could be a manifester, agenerator, like Nicole, a
(12:42):
manifesting generator, aprojector, like myself, or a
reflector.
So what does all of that mean?
It basically refers to yourenergy or your aura.
So it is the energy that youare putting out into this world
in its most like basic form, nicole, is a generator.
(13:02):
A lot of people who find outtheir generators feel
disappointed.
They're like um, becausethey're told they're builders,
they're doers and they don'tlike that.
That sounds like awful to them.
I think generators are justthese amazing, beautiful
powerhouses of energy.
They make up 35% of the worldand you'll notice, in the other
(13:25):
type there was one calledmanifesting generator.
They're actually bothconsidered generators.
Manifesting generator in someschools of human design is
considered a subcategory ofgenerator, um, in other schools
it's a completely separate type.
But there's a lot ofsimilarities between the two and
(13:46):
they both each make up 35% ofthe world and since they're so
similar, that means 70% of theworld is operating in a similar
energy to you, which is great.
I love to work with generatorsand manifesting generators
because I feel like the more ofyou that I can get into
alignment, the more thecollective whole of the energy
(14:08):
of our universe as we experienceit right now will go into
alignment as well.
Right, like, if the majority ofthe collective is leading
aligned, happy, authentic lives, like, imagine what that will do
for the collective energy ofthe planet.
So I love generators andmanifesting generators.
Here's the cool thing about youyou have a very magnetic aura as
(14:31):
a generator.
That's exactly what it means.
Like you generate opportunities.
That's exactly what it meansyou generate opportunities.
You generate people, situations, things to respond to are
constantly coming to you.
You generate this magneticenergy and you pull in all of
these things to you.
It's really, really cool.
(14:51):
You have what's called a definedsacral.
Now I don't want to get tooconfusing and into all the
different pieces, but the sacralcenter is one of the nine
energy centers on your humandesign chart and the only types
that have this defined aregenerators and manifesting
generators, and what this means.
The sacral center houses lifeforce, energy.
(15:14):
That is the energy to like, todo life right, to like that.
It's the physical energy as weknow it.
The rest of us, the remaining30% of us, we don't generate
physical energy from within.
We might absorb it from thosearound us, but we don't just
have this unlimited supply ofphysical energy, nicole, you do.
(15:35):
As long as you're doingsomething that lights you up and
makes you feel excited, andthat you're happy, you could do
it for hours upon hours uponhours on end and not need a nap,
as long as you're I don't donaps, I can't do naps no.
Right yeah, my husband eitherhe's a manager and he cannot do
(15:55):
naps.
I am a projector.
I nap like it's my business andit is so.
It is really really like when Iwitness a generator in
alignment with themselves.
They're in what I call theirsacral yes, meaning they're
doing the things that theirwhole body responds to.
They're so excited to be doingwhatever it is they're doing,
(16:22):
that energy allows theirmagnetism to strengthen and then
, like it's contagious, and we,all of us around it, we feel it
and it's really really cool andyou have the power to like
supercharge me with energy tothen go and do things and and be
excited and happy.
It's, it's literally contagious.
You may have been told in thepast, nicole, that like when
you're happy, like it'scontagious, like everybody
around you is happy, or when youlaugh, it's contagious, that's
(16:43):
typically a generator, becausegenerator is the other way too,
cause if I'm in a bad mood, sois everybody else.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
So is everybody.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Yeah, it really does.
Like you, your energy iscontagious.
So, like, what kind of energyare we putting out as a
generator?
And and that is what we'reattracting back to ourselves?
So all of the stuff that youtalk about with mindset and
gratitude is so important, because you are putting out this
magnetic energy.
If you are in, you know, anegative headspace or mindset
(17:17):
space and you're putting thatenergy out, that's what you're
attracting back to you with that, with that magnetic aura.
Do you really want that in yourlife?
No, we want to be doing thethings that make us happy, that
light us up.
So, in business, as a generator, how does this apply?
First of all, if there's astrategy, like for your
(17:39):
marketing or for your businesssystems itself, how you're
operating day to day that acoach told you to do that every
time you have to do it you'relike I don't want to do this.
This is awful.
But coach Sally said if I dothis, I'm guaranteed to sign
(17:59):
$10,000 worth of clients thismonth.
So I'm going to do it, becauseI paid a lot of money for her
coaching and she's the expert.
So, all right, I'm doing thething.
Well, that's the very wrongthing for you to do in your
business Because you areapproaching it with this like
dread.
You're in your sacral.
(18:20):
Know, your sacral is literallyfilling your body with this
dread Because it's trying totell you nope, that's not in
alignment for us, don't do that,it doesn't feel good, it's not
for our energy.
And what happens is you eitherwill attract no clients or
you'll attract clients thatdon't feel good, and then you're
(18:40):
just going to create more dreadin your business.
Oh, now I signed this clientand I have to wake up every week
and do her session on Tuesdays, and I don't want to.
I hate Tuesdays now, Like thatsort of thing.
So, generators in business, youreally want to only do the
(19:02):
things that feel really, reallygood.
I know that sounds weird.
I know people are like, well, that's silly.
We can't just only go throughlife only doing the things that
feel good for us.
Like I have to pay rent, thatdoesn't feel good.
I have to pay my car paymentthat doesn't feel good.
No, it will start to feel goodwhen you have the money to pay
those things and you're justlike, yes, I'll pay rent because
(19:25):
I love this house and, yes,I'll pay.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
I'm grateful to pay
rent, I'm grateful to make a car
, but I'm grateful to make thosepayments yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yes and that falls
into alignment for you.
When you're following the yesesof your sacral, that that
translates into your gut.
Right, your gut is saying, yes,do this, so do those things.
And when your gut says no, no,no, no, no, I don't want to do
that, I'm dreading that, I hatethat.
Don't do those things.
You can either let them go andrelease them from your life
(19:54):
altogether or delegate them tosomething else, that they're
things that absolutely have tobe done, or how can we reframe
it?
So our sacral response to a yesbut you really want to be
cognizant of only saying yes tothe things.
So that means like if yourcoach told you you had to slide
into 50 DMs a day and cold youknow, cold pitch these 50 days
(20:16):
and that feels like to you yeah, don't do that.
Don't do that.
That is a waste of your timeand your energy and you're going
to burn out your sacral.
Eventually it'll be like I'mtoo exhausted, we can't do this
anymore, it's unsustainable andyou're not going to yield out
your sacral.
Eventually You'll be like I'mtoo exhausted, we can't do this
anymore.
It's unsustainable and you'renot going to yield the results
that you want.
Now if your sacral is like, ohmy gosh, I'm so excited to
(20:38):
connect with 50 completestrangers today and tell them
about how I can change theirlives.
Then that's your sacral tellingyou, yes, do that strategy.
So that's the difference.
You want to only do the thingsthat are really lighting you up,
making you feel good about yourbusiness.
It's so important, as agenerator with a defined sacral,
that you're doing that.
The more joy you create in thethings that you do, the more
(20:58):
joyful things will be magnetizedto you and the more success
you're going to experience inyour business and the more
energy you're going to have towork inside of your business.
It won't become this drainagelike time sucker sort of thing
anymore.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Yeah, but you're
dragging yourself through it and
then it feels like it's evenlonger.
It's like a whole thing, likeno it's a whole thing?
Yes, I agree, I love that.
So talk to me about because Idid mention it, I alluded to it
how can we stay in touch withyou?
How can listeners find out likemore about themselves with you?
Speaker 2 (21:34):
yes, so I have a
Facebook group called the
soulful business collective, which Nicole's going to link in
the show notes.
Um, it's free to join and everymonth I do two free events.
I do a free human designreading for up to like three to
four members and it's like afirst come, first serve signup
(21:55):
situation.
I'll place a post the weekprior to the date and say, hey,
who wants a human design reading?
Sign up here on this post.
And you just put your name downand then the first three to four
.
Depending on my energy, I willcap it at either three or four.
They get the slots and then wemeet up on Zoom and I live
(22:16):
stream in the group so everybodycan benefit and I do a 15-ish
minute human design reading forthem and a lot of times we talk
about their businesses becauseit is a human design for
business group, but sometimeswe'll just talk about like human
design and how it relates totheir life, so they'll get a
little mini reading.
(22:36):
The way I do human design isway different.
Everything I do is intuitivelybased, so it's not the
traditional, like, I guess, kindof cookie cutter reading that
you might get from.
I don't want to say it in anegative way, but there are some
like.
(22:56):
It's like a pianist who'sclassically trained versus a
pianist who just sits down andjust starts jamming.
I'm the one who'll just startjamming, versus somebody else
who memorized all the facts andinformation and like, basically
looks at your chart and givesyou those pieces of information
verbatim from start jamming, versus somebody else who
memorized all the facts andinformation and like, basically
looks at your chart and givesyou that those pieces of
information verbatim from whatthey learned.
I'm going to look at your chartand I'm going to feel into your
(23:17):
energy because I am a projectorand I see deep into your
energetic field.
I see deep into your soul, um,and I'm able to like pull out
the things that you need to hearfrom your chart.
So that's kind of how I do myhuman design readings for my
members and for any of myclients, but that's free.
Once a month I do that, andthen the other free thing I do
(23:37):
in my group is live coaching.
So once a month also, we willlive stream into the group and
you can ask me anything you wantabout your business, about
human design, about yourbusiness with human design.
Just say hi, but that's yourchance to get some one-on-one
coaching from me each month.
So it's a lot of fun in thatgroup.
It's very active in thatrespect that I'm meeting up with
(23:59):
you live twice a month, everymonth, making sure that you're
getting some value out of it.
So join me there.
I would love to see you Join us.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
I'm in there with you
as well, so that would be so
much fun, absolutely, and youdid mention that you also had a
gift for the audience for beinghere with us today, absolutely
so.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
I have a free
workbook called Soulful Offers
that Sell.
It is pretty value packed.
It's like a thick, juicyworkbook.
It's something like 26 pageslong.
People are like that's yourfreebie, like I can't help it,
man, I go deep.
But it's all about aligningyour offers to your human design
energetics so that it feelsgood, it feels authentic to you
(24:42):
and you'll actually get aresponse from your audience when
you are presenting it in thisway.
So that will also be linked inthe show notes for you to sign
up for.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Yes, it will.
And how can they follow you?
How can we keep in touch withyou and follow along with you on
social media?
Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yes, you can follow
me on Facebook.
Jenna Gargiola.
Big mouthful of a name, soNicole will link that in the
show notes as well.
Big mouthful of a name, soNicole will link that in the
show notes as well.
Um, and I'd love to see.
Facebook is my main playground,so I'd like to see you in my
group or following along on mymy profile.
Um, that's where I like to playthe most because I find that
(25:21):
it's a platform where you canreally nurture relationships and
strong connections with people, instead of it being about
amassing, like, vast number offollowers and likes and stuff.
I'm a relationships person, socome and connect with me there,
say hi, let me know that youlisten to this podcast.
Let's have a conversation,let's connect, let's get to know
(25:43):
each other.
I love friends.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Love it and Jenna's
amazing, so definitely encourage
you to go join her group and gohang out with her.
And before we sign off here, big juicy tip Like what's the
best tip that you have for yourclients?
Give us a preview.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
I'm going to go back
to what I was talking about with
generators, and I think thisapplies to everybody.
If it feels gross, don't do it.
Focus on what feels really goodfor you.
Just because one person saidyou had to do it this way does
not mean it's the be all and endall to business.
I think business, just likeevery single one of us, is
completely unique to the personrunning it.
(26:23):
So do what feels good for you.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Find your own way.
And what if you find a new waythat works even better?
Right, like, like.
It's all about innovation, so Ilove it.
Break the mold.
So thank you so much forjoining us today, jenna.
This has been absolutelyamazing and we will see you guys
next time on the next episodeof Overcome Yourself, the
podcast.
Bye.
