Nicole Tuxbury (00:02):
Hello there, everyone.
Welcome back to a new episodeof Overcome Yourself, the
podcast.
As you know, my name is Nicole, super excited to be back here
with you guys today, and Iwanted to go over something that
people have been asking meabout.
I don't know if you can tell.
Behind me is my library, and Ihad a few meetings this week and

(00:22):
everybody was like, oh my God,you have such a huge library and
so, yes, I'm a big reader, Ilove reading.
One of the things I talk aboutin my book is about how reading
is one of those ways that youcan spend time with your coaches
, your mentors, the you know, the people you look up to is by

(00:44):
reading books, right, and youget to hang out with them, you
get to share in their stories, you get to see the lessons that
they're teaching, and so I thinkthat books are super powerful,
especially when a lot of coachesare like seven figures, six
figures expensive, five figuresexpensive, and you're like I'm
really not there, but you canstill learn from them, right,

(01:07):
and so books are absolutelyamazing.
I love them, and I wanted toshare some of my favorites, the
ones that I know have made ahuge impact on me, my mindset
and my business All right.
So, first and foremost, I wantto talk to you guys about the
confidence code.
I have a few books here.
That one I don't know where itis.

(01:28):
I looked for it.
I didn't see it back here.
I'm sure it's sitting right infront of me and I don't see it.
But the confidence code such ahuge lesson Learning about, like
, scientifically analyzing, quantifying what is confidence,

(01:48):
how does it come from?
Like, where does it come from?
They look at imposter syndromeand they help you see that
you're not the only onestruggling with imposter
syndrome women.
I talk about this all the timewhen I'm in interviews um, women
, um, they don't need morecompetence, like, we're already
super competent, we just need tostep into that confidence.

(02:10):
And so that book really helpedme to see women at different
levels of success that are stilldealing with the same things
that I'm dealing with.
That you're probably dealingwith too, as we step into these
new levels of our businesses, into levels of leaders.
Right, because as we grow ourbusinesses, as we grow our

(02:30):
impact, as we're sharing more ofour story, being more
vulnerable, sharing more, posting more online, that comes
with its own set of new things, right, and so stepping into that
new level of ourselves that canreally handle everything that
those new levels are going tobring right.

(02:51):
And so the confidence code huge, loved it really.
High on my list.
Another one that was kind ofreally interesting not what I
expected at all the Joy ofSuccess.
So this one was really good.
Susan Ford Collins You're goingto have to read it, but it was.

(03:17):
It was really just eye-openingand it talks about some next
level stuff.
Okay, so this is not for thebeginner in the journey.
If you are deeper into theentrepreneurial journey, the joy
of success is going to be greatfor you.
Another something that's superhelpful for me and these are

(03:39):
actually mine.
I'm going to go ahead andmention myself here.
I have a bunch of journals thatare available on Amazon and I
love journaling.
I do gratitude right, so youguys know that my thing is
gratitude.
So I've designed all kinds ofjournals.
Some of them have prompts, someof them are just lined.
So this is just a line journal.
It just has lines so that youcan write your own thoughts

(04:01):
whatever it is that you want.
But I also have some that areavailable that are guided
gratitude and they have promptsand things that you can fill out
, and so journaling has been ahuge part of my journey.
You guys know I always talkabout writing down three things
that you're grateful for everymorning, and so I have journals
on Amazon to help you do that.
Obviously, you don't have toget these.

(04:22):
I started off, like you know,17 cent notebooks and just write
down three things, put a lineand the next day go below it.
But I didn't know.
If, you know, guys knew thatthose were available.
Now you do.
Okay.
Another one that was not at allwhat I was expecting it to be
and is absolutely fantastic.

(04:42):
So far as you can see, I've gotmy pen because I'm still
reading it, but Happy PocketFull of Money totally already
has changed my view on money.
I thought it was going to benot about what.
It is Okay.
So if you're into like quantumphysics and learning more about
that, this is what, so far, thisbook is about, and it is

(05:04):
absolutely phenomenal.
So if you are working on yourmoney mindset, happy Pocket Full
of Money cannot recommend itenough.
I'm going to mention anotherone that was written by me, of
course, and that is the ProfitMachine Summit in a Book, and so
I took all of the lessonsabsolutely incredible from the

(05:25):
guests that we had speaking atthe profit machine summit and
everyone in here got their ownchapter, uh, from the
presentations and you're gonnasee, you know whose information
it is and stuff, but, um, allthe most important lessons
broken down how can youimplement them in your life, in
your business.
And, of course, I also includeda few additional bonus mindset

(05:47):
chapters in addition to theguest experts.
So we have a whole section ofguest experts, but the whole
beginning is mindset stuff thatI've written for you.
And so another amazing resourcethis one's going to be
available down below in the shownotes.
Another incredible book for mybusiness One moment, I don't

(06:12):
know where it is off the top ofmy head.
Hold on, I got it.
Nope, all right.
Another favorite this one highlevel business as well Traction

(06:38):
Really really great, reallyreally great book.
It is business heavy.
So this is not more mindsetstuff, this is more business
stuff.
And another one, if you're likeinto next level business as
well Good to Great.
I don't know why this has this.
It's not supposed to, but Goodto Great is another phenomenal
business book.
Um, again, these are not moremindset.

(06:59):
The first ones that I talkedabout.
The other ones are definitelymore business heavy.
Um, and let's go back.
We'll wrap it up with mindset.
I've got one more, and themajority of these books that
I've got behind me are non-.
I'm a nonfiction book readingperson, but there are a few I've
got like one shelf of fiction, but one that does not get put

(07:23):
with the other fiction books, because I love it so much and I
think it's so relevant eventhough it is fiction is the
Alchemist, Paolo Coelho.
This is one of those books thatyou're going to want to read
over and over in every season.
This is one of those books thatyou're going to want to read
over and over in every season.
It's going to open up newlevels in this book.

(07:45):
So as you get older and wiserand you read this again the
first time I read this wasactually in middle school.
Shout out to our I think it wasin our resources class, and
I've read it like, I guess, oncea decade since then, and every
time it just opens up your eyesin a whole new way.
You relate to differentcharacters, you see things that
you just didn't have thecapacity, the knowledge, the
understanding to see before, andso I highly highly recommend

(08:07):
the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and so those are some of my
biggest recommendations.
I think those are the ones thatI talk about the most when I am
doing interviews.
I didn't mention some of thebigger ones, anything by Malcolm
Gladwell obviously there is anew tipping point.
I don't know if it's updated, Ihaven't done all the research,

(08:32):
but I know he's got a newsomething about the tipping
point coming out in October.
I haven't done all the research, but I know he's got a new
something about the tippingpoint coming out in October.
I can do a whole lesson aboutmarketing that.
I saw it in June and the book'snot coming out till October.
So market your stuff, guys.
Like, it's not too early.
You can start gettingpre-orders for your stuff a few

(08:54):
months before you release it.
But I digress, malcolm gladwell, you guys know all over my book
.
Um, anything by bernie brown, pretty much.
If you haven't checked out herspecial on netflix, do so.
Um, and yeah, I guess those arethe ones that I want to mention
right now.
Those are the ones that came tomy brain.
Um, barbara cochran, use whatyou've got.

(09:16):
Love that one.
Um, yeah, those are the mainones I think that I quote and
stuff.
Um, I highly recommend, ifyou're a woman and you're
dealing with um confidenceissues, go get that confidence
code.
Start there, um, and then orderthe alchemist this one's fun,
um, and you can read it all thetime in between all the other

(09:38):
books.
Um, all right, and that's it forthis episode of overcome
yourself, the podcast.
Thank you guys for being herewith me.
I hope you enjoyed that and letme know if you read those books
.
If you've read those books, letme know down below, um, which
one of those is your favoriteand if you have another book
recommendation atomic habitsanother great one, um, leave
