Uma pesquisa feita pela Ancine em 2018 sobre a participação feminina na produção audiovisual brasileira mostra que há uma disparidade entre os gêneros quando se trata de posições de liderança ou funções criativas. Entretanto, percebe-se que quando se trata de produção executiva há um certo equilíbrio, e somente na área de direção de arte existe uma prevalência feminina, de 57%.
Funções como direção, roteiro e fotografia são em grande maioria ocupados por homens também. Nestes cargos, temos somente entre 12% a 20% de participação feminina, enquanto a presença masculina chega a 60 e 80% de ocupação nestes espaços.
