Speaker 1 (01:13):
All right, as I
mentioned, today's episode is
going to be a working episode.
Get out your pen and paper, myfriends, because we are doing
this together.
The last few episodes I haveshared with you all of the work
that I have been doing the lastfew months.
To get me to the momentum thatI am experiencing now.
I needed to get clarity on whatit was that I exactly was going
(01:35):
towards, and then I needed tocreate the roadmap to get there.
I've had my head down for quitea few months and I have been
working the plan and the planhas been working, and now it's
your turn, because two things.
One, it's a new moon, and I am alittle bit woo, or a little bit
, as I affectionately call, ahippie, and because of that, I
(01:57):
believe that a new moon allowsus to set intentions and to call
in what it is we want to createin our life.
Equally, I also am somebody whois a strategist.
I like to map things out and Ilike to make my entire plan so
that I know the steps that wehave ahead of us and I can see
(02:19):
with clarity where we're headedand how we're going to get there
.
Are things going to come up?
Absolutely, it would be wildand crazy and like an anomaly if
something didn't come up.
And equally, if we have a clearplan, if we have that clarity
on where we're working towards,we're able to get there so much
faster.
(02:39):
So buckle up, get out your penand let's do this together.
All right, I've shared myjourney in the last few episodes
, so I'm not going to camp outthere on this episode, because
it's not about me today, it'sabout you.
Here's how we're going to getyou from where you are today to
that massive change spot thatyou desire to be.
(03:01):
And if you're like I don't needany massive changes, I'm good,
I just need to tweak this onearea of life Awesome.
If you need to tweak that onearea of life, let me ask you why
hasn't it happened yet?
Perhaps you are wanting tocreate more income or more
abundance in your life in somearea.
(03:22):
Perhaps you're wanting tochange some piece of your career
and your work life.
Perhaps you're wanting to, youknow, adjust a relationship in
some way.
Whatever it is that you want tocreate, let's roadmap how
you're going to make thosechanges to get you where you
want to be.
Because here's the thing if youdon't set intention.
(03:45):
If you are not intentional withwhere you want to go, you won't
get there.
I know that sounds kind ofcrazy to say out loud, but if
you don't set intention with thelife that you want to create,
it's highly unlikely that youwill ever experience that life.
(04:06):
So take a moment.
One of my past mentors well, Ishouldn't say past mentors, he
still is a mentor of mine JimFortin would often say if you
don't know which directionyou're driving the car, you're
going to end up in the ditch.
And actually I think it's evenbigger than that.
If you don't know whichdirection you're going, you
(04:28):
don't even know which.
You know like way to point thecar, to even start driving, and
that allows a lot of people toexperience immobility.
Ooh, stumbled on that one.
If you are overwhelmed by theidea of not knowing which
direction you're going to go,you guys, most people then just
(04:49):
don't take any action.
They just stay right where theyare.
And then a year passes andthey're still in the same spot.
And then three years pass andthey are looking around and
they're like why am I still inthis piece of life?
Like why is this my environmentif this doesn't light me up?
And then five years pass andthey are wondering why things
(05:12):
haven't changed.
But they haven't changed orcreated a path to allow them to
get to where they want to go.
Here's the interesting part, youguys, I get a lot of clients
coming to me or prospectiveclients coming to me, and when I
do my initial consults withpeople, I oftentimes will ask
them what action are you willingto take?
(05:34):
What actions have you takenthus far to get you to the goals
that you want to achieve atsome point?
And I can quickly determine ifit's going to be someone who's
ready to roll up their sleevesand take action to get to the,
whatever the goal is thatthey've set their horizon on, or
(05:54):
if they're going to lookoutward and hope that someone
else is going to take the actionfor them and just do it for
them.
I can tell you, when I was anew young coach like 20 years,
like 20 plus years ago now Iswear I'm not that old when I
was new at a lot of the coachingpieces that I do today, it used
(06:16):
to boggle my mind.
I couldn't figure out how Icould literally hand somebody an
entire plan Like I'd, you know, sit down with them, we'd
identify their goals.
We'd like figure out what mightbe their blocks.
We'd map out everything.
I used, every tool in my toolbelt, and I would look back
after.
You know whatever amount oftime our sessions were.
Sometimes it was like threemonths or six weeks or even a
(06:39):
year, and if they hadn't gottento that point, it would boggle
my mind.
I'm like I cannot figure outwhat else I could have possibly
done.
It's like I led the horse towater and then I was like
shoving a hose up their mouth totry and drink the water and
they're choking it and they'respinning out the water instead
of actually like drinking thewater, because that's what they
(07:00):
actually said they wanted.
It was fascinating to me andthen I realized that it was far
deeper than that One.
There was a lot of identity workthat most people don't identify
with.
If you have goals that you wishto accomplish and you've been
working towards them for areally long time and you just
(07:20):
can't seem to figure out whythose goals haven't been
achieved yet and but you've beentaking the action, then there's
probably a deeper block that weneed to come, we need to
identify so that you canactually accomplish those goals.
Most people who talk aboutgoals, don't actually?
I talk about identity and thesubconscious and what you might
(07:43):
actually be holding.
That's holding you back.
We need to release some ofthose things, but we can't
release them until we peel backthat onion and figure it out.
But Oftentimes, when Ireflected on those clients that
I at those early years, when Iwas, you know, a new coach, and
I'm like why is this not working?
What I realized was noteverybody actually wants the
(08:05):
goals that they say they want.
And when that happens, typically what's occurring is
that somebody is looking outwardand they're being influenced in
some area of their life.
And then they're coming to aperson like me and they're
saying, hey, I'm regurgitatingthe goals that I've been
influenced to say I want, whenin reality those aren't their
(08:28):
goals at all.
So today I'm gonna ask you somehard questions.
The first one is what is itthat you wish to call into your
life?
What part of your life are youwanting to maybe enhance or
create expansion or abundance in?
Or, you know, lean into a newarea, to take your life to the
(08:51):
next level?
And if you're like I'm good,I'm great, everything is, we are
, we are coming along andeverything is exactly where I
want it to be.
Maybe this episode isn't for you, but this episode is probably
for somebody you know, and ifyou're in a really good spot, I
wanna advocate that you sharethis episode with somebody that
you know in your life who couldbenefit from a gentle nudge from
(09:15):
someone who loves them.
So share this episode withsomeone in your life that you
think could use a nudge, thatcould use somebody to wrap their
arms around them and say, hey,I get it, I've been there and
I'm going to wrap my arms aroundyou and we're gonna walk
alongside your journey togetherto get you to the place that you
need to be.
So here's the deal.
(09:37):
And if, oh, and if somebodyshared this episode with you and
they gave you that gentle nudge, that's a really good friend.
Like, chalk that away to, likeyou know, treasures in heaven,
because that friend actuallycares about you at a deeper
level.
So give him a hug or a highfive or a smack on the butt or
whatever you do to your goodfriends and, just you know, show
(09:58):
him some extra massive love,deal.
Okay, let's get back to you, setting intentions for the life
that you wish to call in.
So, going back to my mentor, jim Ford, and he used to also
say if you look around in yourenvironment, you can see exactly
what you've created.
Well, if that's the case, thenare you happy with your
(10:20):
environment?
Are you looking around andyou're like, yeah, this is all
really, really great, I did this, I created the life of my
dreams?
Or are you like, ooh, I havesome areas that I'd really like
to focus on?
Well, we probably don't want tofocus on every area of your
life at the same time, but wecan definitely make a plan to
(10:41):
work through all of the areasthat you would like to see an
improvement in, but before we dothat, I need to ask you a
couple of questions.
What is it, if you had to guess, that you may be holding onto,
that's holding you back fromliving the life that you want?
Let me ask that again what maybe holding you back or blocking
(11:09):
you in some way from steppinginto the life that you intend?
These are stories, these arebeliefs, these are paradigms and
understandings of how the worldshould quote, unquote work, but
these are areas that I want youto camp out on for a little bit
(11:30):
.
Maybe you need a journal aboutthis, maybe you need to pause
this episode and really writethis out and move that energy.
But I want to ask you, what doyou need to release that you may
be holding onto?
Maybe it's a story, maybe it'sa belief, maybe it's a habit,
but maybe it's something bigger.
Maybe it's truly a paradigm andan understanding of how the
(11:50):
world operates that actuallyisn't true at all, but it's what
you've maybe been raised tobelieve or you believe to be
true.
Whatever that might be, we needto do the hard inner work to
actually identify what it isthat needs to be released so
that you can step into the lifethat you intend, the life that
(12:13):
you wanna call in and the lifethat you wanna create.
So what do you think that is?
Maybe it's some stories, maybeit's a belief system, maybe it's
some habits, maybe it's a pastexperience that you know.
Gosh, that really like left ascar on me and it's still
(12:34):
holding me back and it makes mehesitate from jumping into X, y
and Z.
As I mentioned on previousepisodes, I had a story for a
really long time that I didn'trealize right away, but I needed
to release this belief systemthat if I brought on a business
partner, it was going to bedangerous.
It was going to be a liability,it was going to make me too
(12:54):
vulnerable.
But in reality I've hadbusiness partners now for many,
many years and it has served mevery well.
But it took me a long time torelease that belief system,
release those stories, and torecognize that that was really
holding me back from goingfarther and faster.
And when I released that I wasable to really realize the
(13:18):
potential that I had inside me.
I was able to understand andrealize that I had some pretty
big dreams and I was not goingto get there all by myself.
I needed to link my harnesswith other people so that we
could go farther and faster andbigger and better, because I
believe that the site that I hadset there's no way that I can
(13:44):
make the impact that I am builtto make unless I am aligning
myself with other people whohave shared visions and shared
kind of values or whatever it isthat I knew I needed to align
myself with.
I could better serve people ifI was aligning myself and
releasing those stories.
So I'm going back and I'm goingto ask you what do you need to
(14:06):
release?
And here's the caveat to that,as I ask you what you need to
release.
I want to invite you to makesure and to guard yourself.
Guard your heart on this one,my friend.
Guard the ego, because if youcome up with things that you're
like these are the things I'mrealizing that I need to release
(14:28):
, that no longer serve me andwhere I want to be in my life
you can quickly jump to shame, you can quickly jump to being a
victim.
You can quickly jump to all ofthese things that are going to
make you feel bad.
Maybe it's fear, maybe it'sshame, maybe it's guilt, maybe
it's embarrassment, whatever itmight be.
(14:51):
But here's the thing releasethose two because they are not
going to serve you.
And those are all in the pastand this is an opportunity for
you, my friend, to step intothat new way of being.
So let's release anything thatno longer serves you.
Write it down.
You know I used to do many, manyyears ago.
(15:13):
I used to lead groups on somedifferent kind of personal
development journeys, and one ofthem was we were going, we
would burn anything that weneeded to release because it was
a shift in energy.
So we would write down anythingthat was holding us back or
holding us down or weighing usdown or weighing our heart down
(15:33):
or cluttering our minds.
We would write all of thesethings down on pieces of paper
and then we would burn them inlike a ceremonial like let's
burn that crap, let's get it outof our bodies, get it out of
our minds, get it out of ourhearts and move it into a
different energy.
And it was a really impactfuland profound way to like move
(15:55):
that through us.
So if that's something that youknow like sparks your interest
see what I did there sparks Ifthat sparks your interest, write
it down and burn it becauseit's not serving you anymore.
And if it's not serving you,it's holding you back from being
(16:15):
awesome, and I believe that youhave awesome inside of you.
All right, now that we'veidentified those stories and
those old beliefs that need toget out of us, what's the next
thing we need to do?
Well, we need to startdaydreaming a little bit.
So I want you to daydream alittle bit.
I want you to realize what isyour actual potential.
(16:35):
Now, this could be a big askfor one episode, so we can
probably unpack this over thenext couple of weeks, but I
really want you to startthinking about, like who am I?
Who am I built to be?
Why am I on this planet?
These are, like told you, theseare big questions.
But who am I meant to be whileI'm on this planet, at this
(16:59):
moment, in this lifetime, in2023?
And I'm at blank age and thisis my environment in my life.
What exactly did I come to thisplanet to do?
What was my mission when Isigned up?
If you're somebody who's like,oh yeah, I believe in this stuff
.
I believe that I signed up tocome to this planet to have X, y
(17:20):
and Z impact on the world.
What do you think that would be, even if you don't believe that
, if I asked you that questionand you were like all right, I'm
going to set aside any of mylike spiritual beliefs and I'm
going to answer the question whyare you on this planet right
now?
Because I believe me, april.
I believe that you are here onpurpose.
(17:41):
I believe that whateverspiritual belief of higher being
that you align with, I believeyou were created and intended
and you are knit together onpurpose with unique threads
woven throughout you that arenot woven through me.
You're running a completelydifferent race.
(18:03):
You have completely differentlessons to learn and impacts to
make on this planet.
So, if that's the case, what doyou think those are?
What are some of your uniquegifts, you know?
So I asked my kids and I we liketo have.
We talk about this often, butin our family we say that every
(18:24):
single person has uniquesuperpowers, and it's fun to
identify what those superpowersare.
We've been having a lot of funwith that this summer because
we've been having a lot morebabysitters, because mom and dad
have been very busy withbuilding our businesses this
summer and we made a commitmentthat we would make sure that our
kids still had a really awesome, fun summer while we signed up
(18:47):
for some stuff that we knew wewanted to do and that took us
away from our kids a little bitmore than we liked.
And so each day or I shouldn'tsay each day, but each time my
kids are interacting with a newbabysitter or people that
they're surrounding themselveswith, I'll ask them like, hey,
what do you think that person'ssuperpowers are?
And it's fun to hear what theycan see, because what I've
(19:10):
realized is, everyone around yousees your superpowers, but
oftentimes you don't see thosesuperpowers, and even if
somebody actually calls you outon those superpowers, it takes a
lot of work to convince youthat they are real and that they
are your superpowers.
You'll be like no, no, no,that's not me, it's cool, nope,
(19:31):
nope.
And people are like so likethey just deflect all of those
compliments.
But other people can see yoursuperpowers.
So let me ask you what are yourunique superpowers?
So, for example, I have one kidwho believes that they have
super speed and they have superstrength and they are an awesome
(19:52):
, incredible dancer.
That's super fun, right, like.
I'm like, that's cool.
And as they've grown, they'vechanged and adapted their
superpowers.
They're like oh, this is mysuperpower.
Now I have another kid who iscrazy, crazy creative, crazy
creative, like.
I watched them and I'm like, seriously, if creativity could
ooze out of your pores, it wouldliterally be like smeared all
(20:15):
around my house because you'rejust so creative.
It literally is smeared allaround my house with different
art projects and creative like, yeah, I don't even know the
right vocabulary because I don'tidentify as a crazy, creative,
artistic person, but they do.
And so, instead of them notrealizing what their superpowers
are, we talk about it, wecelebrate it and I encourage
(20:38):
them to really pay attention tohow they can bring light and
beauty to the world with theirunique superpowers.
It's super fun when you startplaying that game.
So if you have kids or if youhave other people that you're
like, I wanna talk with youabout my superpowers or your
superpowers.
Try it the next time you're ina car ride with somebody.
Just be like hey, what do youthink your superpowers are?
(20:58):
If you had superpowers and I'mnot talking like I can fly
through the air and just stickmy arm up and, just like you
know, lift off I'm talking aboutactual superpowers that people
can see every single day.
It's super fun.
So what are your superpowers?
What is your potential?
What are the things that youhave inside you that other
(21:21):
people may not have, and what doyou think that you were given
that for, and what kind ofimpact do you think that you
could have on the world usingthose superpowers?
How can you bring light andbeauty and love and kindness to
the world using your uniquegifts, your unique talents?
(21:43):
Because here's the thing wegotta release some of that stuff
that might be holding us back.
And then, when I ask you to talkabout and think about your
superpowers, it triggers adifferent part of your brain.
It triggers the more creativepart of your brain that's
actually going to startdaydreaming and start thinking
about these things.
And we're actually kind ofmobilizing a different part of
(22:05):
your brain to start thinkingabout the things that light you
up.
And it's actually going tolight up your brain.
If you can imagine, your brainis like almost like a little
light show.
You know it was dimming when wehad all those things that are
weighing us down that we've nowreleased, and then, as we start
to think about your superpowers, your brain is actually lighting
up.
It's creating new neuralpathways and belief systems
(22:28):
based on what you believe.
It's really fun.
I'm trying not to get tootechnical on you and if you want
me to get more technical andtalk about the scientific pieces
of your brain and how it'sworking, happy to do that.
I've been nerding out on it fora couple of years now, but at
the end of the day, we want torelease anything that's holding
us back in those belief systemsand then we want to start
(22:50):
triggering all of the cool likecreative pieces of our brain so
that we can start harnessing whoit is that we are actually
meant to be.
Right, this is cool, right.
And if you're like, no, this isso uncomfortable.
Keep listening, because if youthink this is uncomfortable, my
friend, you probably need itmore than the person who's like,
(23:11):
oh, I dig this, I dig this, Idig this.
Well, here's the thing.
If you're feeling uncomfortablebecause you're like I'm feeling
blocked, I do not know what mysuperpowers are, do me a favor.
Go to someone who loves you andask them what do you think are
some of my unique gifts?
And you know, you might haveput them on the spot a little
bit so they might need them init, but I'm pretty confident
(23:33):
that most people can identifywhat your unique gifts are and
if you start to think about it,start writing them down.
You can also do this exercise asa journaling exercise.
Pull out a piece of paper andjust write all of the things
that you're good at and just say, okay, I'm going to write for
10 minutes and I'm not going tostop writing, because then that
forces you to keep coming upwith things, instead of allowing
(23:56):
yourself to be like, nah, I'lljust do this later, I'll just do
this later.
Well, later is today, so let'sidentify it.
Okay, now that you'veidentified some of that
potential, I wanna invite you torewrite what it is that you
believe to be your story?
What is it that you wanna setyour sights on?
And maybe you can skip stepsone and two, because you've
(24:19):
already done those things.
You've already done some ofthat transformational work.
Because you've been listeningto this podcast for a while.
I get that.
And if you're like, oh, I havemore onion layers to peel back,
let's peel those back and let'skeep going, because you, my
friend, have an impact to makeand people to serve and people
to help, but you're not going tobe able to get there if you're
(24:40):
being bogged down by any ofthese things that are holding
you back.
It's just being honest.
So, what kind of life you wannacreate?
We have to start a couple ofsteps before that.
We can't just say, oh, I wannawave my magic wand and I looked
at a magazine picture and thatis the life I want.
Well, that's great.
But, as I mentioned before whenI was talking about clients who
(25:02):
would come to me and they wouldsay I want X, y and Z, but then
a year goes by and I've beencoaching them the entire time
and I can't figure out whythey're not getting the massive
results that normally happenwhen I use the same tools that I
know work.
It's because the goals thatthey've set are not actually
their goals.
They're looking outward andthey're being influenced by what
(25:24):
they think they should want.
But I wanna ask you what do youactually want?
Let me ask you again.
I wanna slow down and ask youwhat do you want In this moment?
What do you want in your life?
What do you want to create?
What do you feel you are builtfor but are not experiencing yet
(25:49):
?
Because that probably meansthat's the direction we're
headed and you might just needsomebody in your ear telling you
that it's available to you.
And we just need to do a coupleadjustments of the dial to make
sure that we are not allowingthings to hold you back and
(26:12):
weigh you down, because that isnot serving you.
So let's rewrite the story.
What is it that you want tocall into your life?
What life do you wish to callin or create?
What intentions do you want toset?
You know, many, many years agoso this way, I don't even know
(26:32):
how many years ago my family washighlighted in a magazine and I
was so honored by the titlethat they chose they chose
intentional living and that wewere on the cover of this
magazine and it was theHadsinski's intentional living,
choosing to live the life thatthey wish to create step by step
(26:55):
.
And I was like man, that is socool, but at the time it didn't
really like it, didn't.
I didn't realize the magnitudeassociated with that.
But years later I understand.
When you are intentionallyliving, you're creating the life
that you want by taking thealigned actions.
(27:16):
But if you don't know whatdirection you're going, you
don't know what those alignedactions need to be.
And here's the thing thedirection that you are headed
may change.
Let's be honest, our paths, they twist and they turn, and
that is not a mistake, becausethere are lessons nested within
(27:37):
there.
But if you have your sights seton something big, if you have
your sights set on a goal, whatever that might be, we just
need to map out those alignedaction steps to get you there.
And some of those alignedaction steps might mean
releasing things that no longerserve you.
Going through, perhaps, yourfriend list and saying, okay,
(27:59):
who are the toxic friends that Ineed to release from my life,
that are weighing me down?
Who are the people that I needto align myself with, that are
going to lift me up and light meup and challenge me and
advocate for me?
Who are the people that I needto link my harnesses with so I
can go farther and faster?
(28:19):
Who are the people I can learnfrom?
I want to ask you some of thesequestions because these will
spark some of that informationfor you.
You may not have the clarity ofwhich direction you're headed,
what that intentional life isthat you want to create.
And, quite frankly, when wewere on that magazine cover,
that was like eight years agoand when that happened I had a
(28:43):
very different direction that Ithought I was headed and, quite
frankly, I've been taking thealigned action.
But my path twists and turnsbecause life happens.
Things come up and you adjustand you adapt and you learn to
not necessarily be attached tothat end goal but actually
experiencing all the twists andthe turns and having the
(29:07):
capacity to enjoy each one ofthose moments.
But again, if you're so boggeddown by this reality that you
don't have a vision, if you goback to a couple of episodes ago
, I was talking about teachingmy kid to ride a bike and when
they look down, oftentimes theystart to wobble and that's when
the insecurity and the fearkicks in and that's when they
(29:29):
tip over oftentimes.
But if they have their side seton the horizon, if they look at
where they're headed,oftentimes that evokes a
confidence.
They get up taller, they holdonto those handlebars so much
differently and they're able tokeep their balance so much
better.
It's the same with creating theintentions.
(29:50):
What is it that you intend tocreate?
If you're looking down andyou're, or if you're looking
outward at other people's livesand you're looking at how
they're creating their life andyou're like I want that, but
that doesn't actually light youup, you're going to wobble
because you're looking down.
But if you can get really, really clear on what it is that
(30:10):
you want in your life, guesswhat happens?
You guys, you start going inthat direction.
It's really cool, I kid you not.
You ride the bike and you go tothat direction and it's amazing
.
And you're going to twist andturn.
You're going to, you know, navigate different things that
(30:31):
come up.
But I want to advocate for youbecause I am shocked at how few
people are doing this out in theworld.
If there's something that youwant in your life, you want to
call in, it's available for you.
All you need to do is alignyourself with the right people
who can keep you on path, whocan keep you taking the aligned
(30:54):
actions, whether that's a coach,whether that's a loved one who
is an advocate for you, whetherthat's an accountability buddy
who is going to do it rightalongside you, or if that is
some other support system thatyou have in your life.
There are ways that you can getto the life that you wish to
call in the intentions that youwish to create, but if you
(31:18):
aren't willing to take theaction of figuring out what it
is one that you want and, two, identifying the path that you
need to take, a year from now, you're going to probably be
right where you're at now and Iwant to ask you is that okay
with you A year from now?
(31:39):
If I say a year from now, you're going to be exactly where
you are now, but you're goingto be one year older.
You called that.
Or a year from now?
I'm gonna ask you, like hey,it's been a year since we were
talking about this stuff.
Have you made any changes?
Have you achieved the thingsthat you're working towards?
Or have you at least takenaction and started moving in
(32:01):
that direction?
Because some of these are big, hairy, audacious goals that may
take a couple years, but mostpeople overestimate what they
can do in one year, but theyunderestimate massively what
they can accomplish in fiveyears.
It's fascinating.
I look at some of the goalsthat I have, you know, I set
(32:24):
maybe five years ago and I'mlike, wow, knocked all those out
of the park Cool, I'm a totallydifferent person now.
Now my goals are different.
Now they've set.
I've moved that bar and I'vechanged where I want to set
those intentions.
But that's because I've changed, because I've been taking the
aligned action.
I've been growing and leaninginto that transformation.
This is all a journey, myfriends, and I invite you to
(32:47):
keep moving forward, keepleaning into who you're meant to
be and calling in theintentions that you wish to call
in, because today is a new moonand we get these all the time.
So every new moon you have anopportunity to set those
intentions.
So you can actually listen tothis episode every new moon if
you want to.
I would be honored and youmight get tired of hearing the
(33:10):
same thing over and over, but Iwant to invite you to realize
your potential and to step intowho you are meant to be.
Okay, on that note, I'll getoff my soapbox and say you are
loved, you are light and you arepowerful.
It is now closing time.
