Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the
Paradigm.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
U podcast.
Hello and welcome to theParadigm U podcast, episode 156.
Today we are talking to youabout what happens when you
start to implement changes inyour life, and we are dedicating
the entire month to a seriesall about subconscious
reprogramming.
And here's a cool little hintfor you this does not have to be
(00:25):
hard.
So, in the interest of keepingit simple, so you can actually
implement what we're doing, weare keeping this series short
and sweet.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
You're listening to
the Paradigm U podcast.
You're about to starttransforming your life by
growing your mind and expandingyour paradigms.
Here we'll cover real lifetopics, just like the stuff
you'd share with a good friend.
This podcast will serve uptopics that weigh on our hearts
and keep us up at night, whetherit's navigating parenthood and
becoming an adult, or wayfinding, personal development, marriage
and money.
You, my friend, are in theright place.
(00:57):
I'm glad you're here.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
All right well,
welcome to the Paradigm U
podcast.
My name is AprilMarluski-Hydzinski and I am here
today with the incrediblybrilliant Lisa Sarnowski.
How's it going, lisa?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
I'm doing great,
April.
It's really great to be backhere with you.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Thank you.
Yes, well, we have a reallyexciting topic.
We have been experiencing somefascinating aha moments within
the Elevate Group that we arecurrently leading.
We wanted to share some ofthose insights with you today.
What do you think, lisa?
Yeah, cool.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yeah, it's absolutely
cool, and especially what's
cool is the stat you were justtelling me before.
So would you mind sharing withthe listeners here what you were
sharing?
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:41):
you bet.
So, surprisingly, only 5% ofour day-to-day actions and how
we show up throughout the dayare conscious decisions.
That means 95% of all of ourthoughts are connected through
our subconscious.
And the interesting thing, lisa, is that if only 5% of our
(02:05):
thoughts are conscious and ourdecisions, our actions, our
behaviors are conscious on adaily basis, it's fascinating to
me how many people are spendingtheir time, money and energy
trying to focus on that andchange that, when, at the end of
the day, it's truly that 95% ofyour thoughts, your behaviors
and your actions how you'reshowing up, that are led and
(02:28):
driven by your subconscious.
That really needs to be changed, that change from the inside
out.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Absolutely.
When you told me that statistic, that's exactly what popped out
to me too is wow, as anindustry, as a culture, we are
so focused on do, do, do.
And how can we really drivehome this peak performance and
efficiency and effectiveness?
And at the end of the day, that's only going to move the
(02:53):
needle.
Maybe 5% for you, and maybethat's enough.
But what also comes to mind isthat picture of the iceberg,
where there's that little bit ontop and then boom, so much is
below.
And it's really when you canchange your subconscious
programming, that's wheneverything starts to accelerate.
And I know that, april, you'vetalked so much about this with
(03:17):
the listeners, and I know wehave also talked a lot about
identity and be-do-have.
And this is really why it'simportant, I mean, for people to
just visually see 5% of yourday is conscious, 95% of your
day you're on autopilot.
It's just habit, it's just whatyou've always done, what you've
always thought, what you'vealways believed.
(03:38):
And imagine what could happenif you could really really
understand and learn how tochange that 95%.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yeah, so today, we're
going to talk a little bit
about that, but we're only goingto talk about a piece in
particular.
We want to talk about whathappens when you start changing,
because a lot of our listeners, lisa, are already having that
change.
They're starting to make andimplement the changes that they
(04:06):
see within their life asopportunity.
We're hearing stories, we getcomments and we get feedback
from listeners on that, but whatwe're not actually talking
about at this point is whathappens when you are met with
that resistance.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, yeah,
absolutely.
Any change that comes our way,you hit a wall eventually and
it's because we are changing ourstate of being, truly how we
operate, and that affects ourvibration.
It affects everyone around us.
Our brain is created to keep ussafe.
(04:42):
It's actually a beautiful,beautiful thing.
And yet if you actively want tochange, there's going to be
natural resistance from yourbrain because it wants to keep
you in your little box thatyou're currently in and the
people around you who also loveyou and are your biggest
cheerleaders, right, your family, your friends, your co-workers,
(05:04):
your partner.
Once you start changing andvibrating at this different
level, because you're activelyworking to change your
subconscious mind, all of asudden now you're a little
different to them and that is alittle bit unnerving because
they are also human beings whoare programmed to be safe and to
understand routine and to beable to effectively know what's
(05:27):
coming next.
And once you start doingdifferent things, it kind of
shifts the energy a bit.
Yeah, changes the equilibrium.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Absolutely.
Yeah.
You know, the interesting partabout that is we could be
working through some of thosechanges and wanting to do some
of that subconsciousreprogramming At our core, but
if we're under any kind ofstress and that is from external
or internal but that externalstress, so if that equilibrium
(05:56):
is off, we may start feeling astress that might actually put
us back into that resistance ofwho.
Do I want to change?
Do I want to throw off thatbalance that I'm experiencing
right now?
Because this feels safe, thisfeels normal, this feels
familiar, comfortable, yeah, butif we allow that change to, if
we lean into that, it allows usto step into changing that
(06:19):
ninety five percent which isactually going to move them the
needle and change.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
So so much, so much,
what a powerful visual.
Yeah, that the ninety fivepercent learning how to really
lean into that and Learning whatyou need to work through that
resistance, you know there isdefinitely a push, an
opportunity to push yourselfthrough and just constantly keep
working on build a new habit, build a new habit.
Build a new habit is all youknow.
(06:47):
We are just the culmination ofour habits and if you can
continue to focus on who you'restriving to be and keep moving
through that, that's where thepower is for sure for you.
I'm not saying it's, it's, youknow, all fun and games for sure
.
I know I've.
I've felt the resistancenumerous times.
(07:08):
In fact, I remember, early onin the journey, looking at my
husband and he was like what isgoing on with you?
I never told you the same and Isaid I don't know.
But here's what I do know.
I do know that I love you and Iwant you to stay with me on the
journey.
I don't know where I'm headed,but I want you to.
I really do want you here, andso that was a powerful moment
(07:32):
for me, my probably twenty yearsago now.
Speaker 4 (07:37):
You know it's so
interesting.
I'm living all of thoseresistance moments right now and
so I'm kind of chucklingbecause I had a similar
conversation with my partner, because I'm being met with
resistance.
Please, I don't know if I'vetold you, but I am two weeks
into a food detox because I hadthe realization that I just I
(07:58):
was making some unhealthy andpoor choices with food, as we've
talked about.
You are my food guru, by theway, for listeners.
If you ever want to like, totally nerd out on like health,
food and how to live a healthylifestyle, talk to lisa sarnazki
holy smokes this woman, she.
But I knew that I was not likePulling my weight with regards
(08:21):
to making healthy choices.
I know a lot of that stems frommy upbringing, as do most of
our habits, because, yeah, a lotof how we show up is tied to
our upbringing and how we wereraised, and I knew that I didn't
have a relationship with foodand so I'm like you know what
we're gonna do this.
So a friend of mine is runninga detox right now and I said,
yeah, I'll sign up for it.
So I am off sugar, I am offcarbs, I am off dairy meat Holy
(08:49):
cow.
But here's the funny thing, this is where the resistance
comes in.
Lisa, I'm changing my habits,I'm completely pushing myself
out of my comfort zone.
So that familiar part and I'mchallenging that 95% of my
subconscious, which is April, just eats whatever is available.
April eats leftovers, eatwhatever.
You know I eat like a five yearold.
(09:09):
That's my like running joke.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
I just open, I just
go.
Yeah, you probably just go tothe pantry.
Whatever's there, right, I getit.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Yeah, so that's how
I've lived my entire life, and
so I caught myself.
The last few days I'm feelingthe resistance, as I'm chopping
vegetables for way more timethan I've ever spent meal
prepping in my entire life.
Hold on Right there, that is ahuge win.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
We've had so many
conversations about meal prep.
Congratulations.
That's amazing.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
Yeah, it is a win and
I'm very excited about it and
I'm very committed.
And that's the key, I think, when you are making a conscious
choice to change something is ishow are you going to show up?
But this is the funny part I'mcommitted to this.
I'm like I am showing up 100%,let's do this.
But I'm chopping these carrots.
I'm like what am I doing?
Why am I wasting all of thistime?
My house is a mess, I haven'tgotten my kids bathed yet
(10:02):
because I'm meal prepping, andso I had these moments where I'm
like, oh, and so I felt thatexternal, internal stress of
like do I really want to do this?
And it was really challengingthat way of being for me, but I
was like nope, I'm going to pushthrough, because I am choosing
to go on through this.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
I'd say this like
hurdle or this mountain, because
I know, it's important for me,Absolutely oh my gosh, it's no
joke and I hope that thelisteners are really you know
feeling that we're on it withyou.
You know we all have our areasthat we're growing through and
you know, for you, I'm going tobe excited and I hope you'll
(10:43):
share with me and the listenersin the future of what comes of
this, because I equally thinkthrough the resistance is where
you find the opportunities.
Oh, this is a quick and easymeal, this is, this is the day I
prep, or this is.
I don't have to make thatchoice, I can find something
else, or I can batch prep, or Ican freeze your meal, or
whatever.
It is for you moving forwardand for listeners.
(11:05):
You can't see, but April's eyesjust got really wide like whoa.
There's a lot of opportunityahead and that's the beauty of
it.
I think if we can all lean intothe resistance, that's where
you'll find the gold nuggets.
Right, it's like you're thatbook, two feet from gold.
Just keep going, because twofeet from now you're going to
(11:25):
find your answer and it's goingto actually be pretty easy to
sustain when you keep workingthe subconscious reprogramming
and you keep working the habit.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Yeah, that's what I'm
working right now.
Keep telling me I'm two feetfrom gold, Two feet so for
listeners.
If you're wanting to change anarea of your life, I want to
invite you to consider what thatis.
We've recorded plenty ofpodcasts on that topic of
identifying those goals, figuring out what you want,
mapping out your plan, etc.
(11:56):
But it really does come down tothat.
95% of your decisions, yourbehaviors, your thoughts are all
driven by that subconscious.
So what are the things that youare going to do to change that
subconscious 95% mark?
But equally, what are you goingto do and how are you going to
(12:18):
show up when you're met with theresistance?
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Yeah, and when you're
in that resistance point,
here's a question to consider iswhat am I so attached to?
Because a lot of times whatyou're attached to is the past.
It's not upsetting someone,it's not changing the dynamics
of something, it's you know.
And so ask yourself what am Iso attached to here that you
(12:44):
maybe are really struggling withpushing through to maintain
what it is that you want in thepositive habit that you're
trying to implement.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Oh yeah, I'm going
through it right now, real time.
What am I attached to?
I like simplicity, I want to goquickly, I don't like taking a
whole lot of time to pause tomeal prep, right, and so I'm
realizing that that is what I'mattached to.
My mind is on so many otherthings, so it's challenging me
and I'm realizing that that'swhat I was attached to, for
(13:15):
example, for this example.
But for listeners.
Going back to your point, lisa, what are you attached to and
what are you willing to committo?
Are you?
willing to stay with whateverthat attachment is.
Is that more powerful thanwhatever the goal is that you
want?
Are you going to cave to thatresistance or are you going to
(13:38):
power through it?
And it's not I should.
They can't wait.
Hold on a second.
It's not power, because I don'twant to mistake the word
powered, like powering throughit.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Well, I think it's
personal power is how we're
referring to it.
Right, it's just really leaninginto my personal power what I'm
actively choosing to fight forfor myself, out of love to
myself, to actually changeversus.
You know, yes, this external Idon't know negative connotation
of power.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Yeah, oh gosh.
Have I ever told you about thebook power versus force?
Yes, I started reading it.
Holy cow, that is a gamechanger for listeners.
If you are looking for a betterunderstanding of how you can
show up and for hints forparents, this is beautiful.
Power versus force by I thinkit's Hawkins.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Yeah, we can maybe
find that to put in the show
notes.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
Lisa, as we wrap up
today's episode, are there any
other thoughts that you havewith regards to the resistance
that we're met with regards tosubconscious reprogramming?
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Yeah, I would say
that, you know.
First of all, keep going.
Well, view the resistance trulyas a gift and a sign that
you're on the right path.
This is a time where your brainis actively going oh, they're
reprogramming, oh, they'rebecoming someone new.
So that's almost, you know, ablessing and a gift that you're
(15:11):
given, and so pay attention toit, honor the awareness and then
work through it.
And here's the other part, andI'm going to say this not as a
free pass, but to just rememberthat you're human and you may
mess up, and that's okay.
You get back up, you get backup.
And the key is, with allresistance, you get back up
(15:34):
faster and faster and faster andfaster each time, because
you're training yourself that,no, no, no, I am this new
version of me, I am not theresistance that's holding me
back.
So that's, I guess, where Iwould focus.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Yeah, changing that
belief system For sure.
For sure.
Have you?
Are you familiar with AbrahamHicks?
Sure am.
You know Abraham Hicks say thata belief is just a thought that
we have on replay and we justkeep thinking it.
So good, right, so good.
So, as you're going throughyour day, pay attention to those
(16:17):
beliefs that you're having, payattention to what's coming up
and what ways you're being metwith resistance, and look for
the opportunities and thelessons that are nested within.
Love it.
So, on that note, I think thatwe've covered a pretty good
chunk of the resistance, wouldyou agree?
I completely agree, all right.
(16:38):
Well, on that note, we aregoing to wrap up today's episode
.
The caveat to this is, lisa, wehave a couple of weeks ahead of
us that we're going to betalking about different pieces
of subconscious reprogramming, because we are doing a whole
month on mindset, aren't weWhole series?
Speaker 2 (16:53):
I believe.
Yes, super exciting.
So definitely stay with us,especially entrepreneurs,
because we're going to beunpacking a lot of that.
In fact, april and I are goingto be doing our own business
retreat coming up, and so we'reboth excited on what's going to
come out of that for each andevery one of you as well.
Moving forward.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Yep, we will report
back, just like we've told you
in past episodes, we wereadvocating for you to carve out
that time to plan out andretreat, so that you can have
that active pause to map outwhat it is that you want.
And we are doing the same thing, because we are walking
alongside you on this journey.
All right, on that note, it isclosing time.
