In the off season, Gina writes Children's books such as First Born-Vikings in Newfoundland. Snorri Thorfinnsson was the first European descendant born in North America in Straumfjord, Vinland ( L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland, Canada) in 1021. He was the son of Thorfinn Kalsefni, and Gudrid of Iceland. Gudrid was the widow of Leif Ericsson's brother Thorstein. Her book explains the history of the Norsemen that came to North America around the year 1000. "The Puffin playing by the Sea" book is a Canadian best seller. Gina has also sat on various NL tourism boards, as a federally appointed member, or as President. One board that she sat on was The Canadian Tourism Commission now named Destination Canada. Gina also won an entrepreneur of the year award from NLOWE. Gina invented an innovative entrepreneurial item for ice skating called the "Whiz Trainer".
