In this episode of Paranormal Playback, Char, Mel, and Lor recap the Part I of Ghost Adventures Season 29, Episode 5, which investigates the supposedly haunted Rispin Mansion in Capitola, California. In This Old Haunt, Mel explains the mansion’s tragic history set forth by it’s irresponsible owner, Henry Allen Rispin. Whose resort dreams were crushed by the Great Depression, leading to foreclosure and personal tragedy. The building later became a cloistered convent for the Poor Clares, barefoot nuns whose presence may have left a spiritual imprint on the space. Despite rich history and eerie folklore—including ghost sightings and a man who allegedly fell to his death—the hosts are skeptical of Ghost Adventures’ claims and leaning too heavily on exaggerations of curses, cults, and Native American spirits. They poke fun at Zak Bagans’ theatrics, reenactments, and missed storytelling opportunities, especially around the mansion’s unique convent years. The episode ends with a preview of part two, where they’ll cover the investigation itself.
