We've spent months sorting through the audio files recovered from JAX Ember's devices. Most are his familiar investigations for The Dressing and The Crouton. But this one is different. It's a high-quality audio chronicle, a narration by a man with an impossibly ancient voice who calls himself "Vincente."
This recording, which we've titled "The Speaking Stone Heart," appears to be the first chapter of a much larger story JAX was secretly compiling—a story that aligns with the out-of-print book, The Hidden Son: America's Vampire God in Exile. It details a time before humanity, a race of sentient landscapes called the Anukta, and the origin of a cosmic dissonance that may be connected to everything JAX was investigating before he disappeared.
We believe releasing these chronicles is essential to understanding the forces JAX was confronting. This is the first of 12 tapes. The investigation continues.
